Mission 4 — Battle of Stalingrad | German| Campaign — Sudden Strike 4 Game Guide

Mission objectives:
- Find a way to the industrial area
- Secure the two factories
- Move along the road
It’s best to select the infantry doctrine (additional equipment) or the armored doctrine. Although the support doctrine is still useful, you will not take over too many guns, and your resources should last for the majority of the mission.
You will start in the bottom left corner of the map. Slowly move forward and you should come across anti-aircraft guns and some infantry. Soon, you will find an abandoned Soviet tank — you can take it. You will also find two sandy paths, one to the left and one to the right (1). Here, the counterattack will take place, so don’t send all your forces further. You can move forward, until you reach enemies by the factory barricade. Hear out your commander, and take the path left. However, you should send your shooters first. The area in front of the buildings is a minefield (2), and anti-tank guns are located right behind the mines (3). Once you enter a large square, you will get yourself under heavy fire from the infantry. The enemy will attack you from the ruins and the large building. It’s wise to use the sandy path mentioned before (1), and flank the guns. This way you will be able to bring your tanks and eliminate the infantry. The best choice are StuG tanks, as they will quickly deal with soldiers and buildings.
Czech hedgehogs will block vehicles but your soldiers can pass without any problems. Use your artillery and infantry to take over trenches and anti-tank guns.
You will not pass along the road with your tanks due to Czech hedgehogs. You will need to go through the ruins. Don’t send your tanks, as there are two anti-tank guns and howitzers by the asphalt road. Still, you will be able to pass Czech hedgehogs with some of your troops (4).
Reach the Czech hedgehogs with your StuG tanks and send your infantry forward. First, you will come across trenches with some soldiers inside, and some heavy guns right behind them. Once you get rid of them, deal with anti-tank guns and bring the rest of your forces. Take over the cannons and turn them with all the other units toward the left edge of the map — that’s where more reinforcements will arrive (5).
Destroying KV-1 heavy tank from front is possible but you would have to fire a lot of bullets. It’s much better to send some of your tank to flank the hostile tank.
Only when you defeat them, will you be able to head towards the crossroad leading to the factories. Here you will come across BT-7 tanks and KV-1 heavy tank (6). Use your new Panzer IV G tank with its powerful anti-tank gun, and Zis-3. The majority of units can deal damage from front but the two mentioned previously are your best option against KV-1. It would be best to attack the tank from two sides and allow at least one of your squads to deal damage to the weaker sides of the vehicle (or entrench one of them to lure the enemy, and flank it with your other group).
Inside the factory, on the left, there will be a surprise for you. Keep your tanks ready, and take over anti-tank guns scattered around.
Regroup your troops before you enter the factory. You decide which of the objects you want to take over first but it would be good to take as many troops as possible. Start with the north factory. Enter with your infantry and eliminate guns behind the second tank. Bring your tanks, as the enemy will send his own as well. There is a broken T34/76, which you will take over soon. Furthermore, there is also Zis-3 right above it. Quickly send your soldiers there, because the enemy is about to bring down the wall and enter the factory with tanks and infantry. Go deeper inside and you will hear that a fight is taking place in the neighboring room. Send all your infantry there. The sooner you assist your ally, the more troops you will receive (7). Approach the south factory the same way. Although, the enemy will not launch another sneak attack, you will come across three BT-7 tanks, two of which will be entrenched with debris and junk, and infantry.
The best solution would be to deal with the infantry, use your scouts to reveal the tanks and destroy them from a safe distance. A little further you will come across an empty warehouse with an empty and slightly damaged KV-1 tank (8). It will be a valuable addition to your squad. Furthermore, BT-7 tanks cannot damage it from front (unfortunately Zis-3, T34-76 and KV-1 can).
It’s time to assault the coast. Two heavy bombers will join the fight. It’s best to use them right away and bombard the left area, right in front of the bunker (made out of sandbags), starting with trenches and heading towards the shore. The other location is the right side, starting from the left corner of the trenches, across the trenches, or the other way round (9) (see above pictures). This way you will take care of heavy tanks and Katyusha rocket-launchers on the left, a fortified T-34 tank, guns and light tanks on the right.
If possible, bring your troops by attacking the right flank.
Before you reach the first bunkers, you will come across guns and some light tanks. Then, focus on Katyusha rocket-launchers and deal with them as quickly as possible. Now watch out for heavy reinforcements and finish off the remaining army.
You can choose between a fast and a slow approach. In both cases you will need to watch out for hostile reinforcements from the east edge of the map (three light tanks and one heavy tank). The first approach suggests flanking your enemy from the left side (10). Walk along the tracks, or through the factory with all your forces. Once you pass the wall and a small building, you will find two fortified guns in the west, and three BT-7 and T-34 tanks nearby. Slowly move east. All you need to do is finish off the remaining infantry and enemy guns. Before you pass the building with a flag, send 2-3 fast tanks by the river bank and take care of Katyusha rocket-launchers. Now bring all your troops and get rid of the remaining enemy forces.
The fast approach focuses on using the road right from the factory.
Send your bombers, move the artillery to the level crossing, and use the officer to reveal the area. Destroy the two guns in front of you, and send your fastest tanks to deal with Katyushas (straight from the level crossing to the coast). On your way, you shouldn’t come across anything else than infantry and tanks with barely any hit points left. Await hostile reinforcements from the east, and clear the area on the left. It’s very important that you destroy all the vehicles.

- New objective: Defend yourself from enemy reinforcements
Tanks are the most important aspect of this mission, thus it’s best to select the armored doctrine (improvised armor, sandbags) or the support doctrine (mechanics — 1 durability repairs, camouflage and sandbags).
First you will have to take over some villages but later it’s all about tank battles. Although mines may come in handy, there will be a lot of hostile units and you run out of time to place them. Furthermore, hostile tanks will often travel with enemy infantry.
You will receive many tanks and destroyers. You don’t need all your forces to take over the villages but you can take them if you want to make sure that all goes according to your plan. First, take your infantry to scout the forest on the right (1). Switch off the free fire mode and select a small group of tanks and infantry. Fire at them with your artillery. Now, take 6-8 tanks and locate them on the field, in front of the village (2). Conduct an aerial recon, and bring infantry, artillery units and the supply vehicle. Once the plane reveals the village, focus on dealing with the heavy anti-aircraft gun first (if possible). Although the enemy will call reinforcements (three tanks, one of which is the elite T-34/76), you will have more tanks on your side.
Some Panzer IV tanks is all you need to keep your artillery safe. Use your infantry to mark targets for your artillery.
Line up your tanks in front of the village, and send your infantry to the forest on the left side of the village (3). There are some scouts in the forest, so eliminate them before you get closer to any buildings. Don’t deploy your artillery just yet, as three light tanks will attack you from the south. Once you deal with them, proceed with the artillery and monitor the village. There are some anti-tank guns, two howitzers, a heavy anti-aircraft gun, and one light gun. When you begin your assault, the enemy will call upon tanks from outside of the map — usually some KV-1. Once this assault is over, leave 4-6 tanks, your artillery and an infantry platoon with your ally in the forest nearby.
If you leave some of your forces in the forest, it will be easier to support your ally later on.
You will be ordered to assault the north village but stay away from it for now.
Regroup all the remaining forces in the village and fortify the location (5). Place some of the tanks in thick bushes in front of the village. Tanks with turrets should be placed in the middle, and fortified with sandbags. Place your StuG destroyers on both sides, and in the bushes (especially if you have camouflage). Your artillery should be in the middle of the village to effectively deal with hostile infantry.
If you line up several cannons, you will gain a wide angle of fire. Even heavy tanks will not be able to resist such power. Place your infantry in the fields and the wooden tower to increase your vision (the white arrow).
Most of the time, the enemy will attack directly from north, and will attempt to strike both flanks twice. It will be more difficult to defend the left side than the right one. Thus, gather more mobile units, especially tanks and anti-tank units. Send one of your soldiers to the village and you will be informed about incoming armored units.
The first wave will assault the middle flank. The following two waves will attack the forest on the right (where you left you troops previously) (4). Survive the assault and you will be ordered to send all your troops to the village in the west (5). Don’t forget to take your artillery with you.
Use the reinforcements to destroy a hostile division that will attack the left flank. You will get to most powerful German tanks that will crush your enemy. Use them to strengthen your position in the village.
Now the enemy will attack your ally on the left flank (6). Send some of your forces there but wait for heavy reinforcements (7). You will obtain a truck full of soldiers and Panzer IV H. However, the deadliest units are the two Ferdinand tanks and Tiger I heavy tank. Position your destroyers in the middle, due to their high durability. Leave all other troops on the left flank.
Use assault aircrafts and bombers to punish your enemy. Assault aircrafts will often strike the most powerful units from their weakest side.
Your artillery and the fortified line will deliver the final blow.
You will get some aerial reinforcements, and moments later the enemy will throw everything he has and assault the middle of the village (5). The wave will consist of many light and medium tanks, and some KV-1. Conduct an aerial recon in front of the village, and send all your assault aircrafts right under the sandy road (but above the village). Your aircrafts will automatically target the most dangerous units, and deal massive damage. It won’t take long for the enemy to strike again. However, the wave will be stretched more this time — simultaneously the center and both flanks will be attacked. The back of the middle group will be covered by a self-propelled gun, so if you don’t deal with the tanks fast enough, you may run into serious trouble. Use all the available resources and immediately send your bombers in front of the village.
