Twitch Prime Levels Up Loot with Crunchyroll Premium
World leading anime brand Crunchyroll is joining forces with Twitch Prime — Amazon Prime’s benefit for gamers — for a special loot offering. Putting 30 days of free Crunchyroll Premium up for grabs marks the first time non-gaming loot has been available to Twitch Prime members.
Twitch Prime gives members a selection of free PC games every month, free in-game loot for the world’s largest games, and a premium experience on Twitch that includes a free channel subscription every 30 days, and exclusive chat colors and emotes. Twitch Prime is available in more than 200 countries and territories.
“While we constantly focus on delighting Crunchyroll fans, we also feel it’s our responsibility to continue to proliferate the popularity of anime to new audiences,” said Eric Berman, Head of Partnerships, Crunchyroll.

The new loot offering expands the partners’ existing relationship. For the last two years, Twitch was the exclusive live-streaming home for the Anime Awards, Crunchyroll’s yearly awards show honoring the best in Japanese animation. This past year, Twitch streamed the exclusive pre-show anime marathon, which garnered nearly 19 million minutes watched to more than 1.3 million viewers. The Anime Awards this year received over 5 million votes across 15 categories from fans all around the world, and the official Twitch stream of the show reached nearly half a million unique viewers. The move also speaks to the multi-billion dollar anime industry’s increasing presence and crossover potential within pop culture.

Twitch Prime Users Get Free Crunchyroll Premium Anime Streaming

Twitch Prime partners up with the anime streaming service Crunchyroll, providing Prime members with a month of Crunchyroll’s premium offerings for free.
Twitch Prime, the livestreaming service’s premium offering for subscribers of Amazon Prime, offers bonuses for its users every month. These bonuses usually tie into video games, unlocking free loot in Borderlands 3, among a myriad of other games, but this month Twitch is branching out to bring a month’s worth of free anime streaming to its users.
Twitch and Crunchyroll, the anime streaming service, have joined forces to offer Twitch Prime members one free month of Crunchyroll Premium. Crunchyroll offers a massive anime library in both English subtitled and dubbed formats. While the majority of the shows can be watched for free, signing up for the premium subscription service removes advertisements completely and gives users access to simulcast shows on the same day they air in Japan.
Members of Amazon Prime and/or Twitch Prime who want to redeem the offer don’t have to work hard to do so. Users can simply visit their Twitch Prime page to redeem the offer.
Twitch will provide a code that the user can input into any free Crunchyroll account to be upgraded for a month of Premium service. Users who currently have Crunchyroll Premium accounts can also apply the code to their accounts, but the free month won’t take effect until the existing subscription runs out. After the free 30 days have elapsed, Crunchyroll members will be billed automatically, so those who don’t want to keep the service should remember to unsubscribe.
This isn’t the first time Twitch has offered users free access to subscription services. The livestreaming site recently gave its users a full free year of Nintendo Switch Online service, alongside free games and in-game loot rewards that are usually on the list of benefits. The offers have been regularly provided since Twitch Prime debuted as a secondary benefit of having an Amazon Prime account.
Gamers who aren’t necessarily interested in anime may still want to give Crunchyroll a try, at least for the duration of the free trial.
The service offers several shows that are based off of major games, like Persona 5 and Fate/Grand Order. Fans of Jump Force can also check out Shonen mega-hits like JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Hunter x Hunter, and Bleach, which many of Jump Force‘s roster of fighters come from.
