Choosing The Best Gaming Keyboard

What sort of keyboard are you using? Is it a grimy old beige thing from an old PC or something a bit newer with a few multimedia keys on it? Not all keyboards are born equal, and if you’re a keen gamer you have some fantastic choices if you want something to boost your in-game performance. So what options do you have if you’re looking for the best gaming keyboard?

Razer Tarantula

  • Allows up to 10 simultaneous key presses
  • 10 programmable hotkeys
  • Up to 5 gaming profiles can be stored in memory
  • 1ms response to key presses
  • Media Center keys
  • 2 USB ports
  • BattleDock for gaming accessories
  • Swappable symbol keys

Basically this is a great keyboard that covers the bases for gamers – programmable keys, good key response and plenty of simultaneous presses.
It’s a good looking keyboard, but the absence of backlighting is still a negative point for such an expensive item and I still think the Battledock is a gimmick.
However, these points aside, the Tarantula is a solid performer and a good choice for a gaming keyboard.

Logitech G15

  • Allows up to 10 simultaneous key presses
  • 6 programmable macro keys with 3 modes (18 possible macros)
  • LCD display that includes date, time, RAM/CPU load and other info
  • Illuminated keyboard with 3 brightness settings
  • Media Center keys
  • 2 USB ports

It’s a great keyboard, and the Version 2 is definitely worth paying the extra for. Slightly smaller than the original, it looks better and the LCD screen is improved with the new lighting. Highly recommended.

Ideazon Zboard

  • Interchangeable keysets that can be changed at any time
  • Gaming keyset optimised for first/third person action games and shooters
  • Large, sloped gaming keys for comfort and ease of use
  • 2 USB ports

The Zboard is quite unique in its approach. It offers two keyboards in one by allowing you to switch between different keyboard layouts. The Zboard comes with a standard QWERTY key layout for everyday use but the clever bit is the second keyset, which forms a layout that is designed especially for games. This layout is designed so that common gaming keys fall within easy reach of the left hand, while the right hand continues to operate the mouse. Swapping the keysets is easy and can be done without restarting the game, the drivers detect the new keyset and sort out the key mappings to fit.

On the face of it all of these gaming keyboards are very good but each has a different approach for satisfying gamers, so choosing the best gaming keyboard is partially down to your own taste and requirements.

  • The Razer Tarantula looks great and feels solid. It includes the Battledock, but is this more style over substance? It is also the most expensive.
  • The Logitech G15 has a great LCD screen and plenty of progammable macro keys,
but is also expensive (but less than the Tarantula).
  • The Ideazon Zboard is a clever compromise between gaming and everyday use and is cheaper than the others, but this is reflected in the feeling of quality.

OK, so which do I think is the best gaming keyboard? Well, it has to be the Logitech G15 simply because of its LCD screen and the functions and information that it provides. Despite the steep purchase price, I think that makes the G15 the best gaming keyboard.

Convenient multifunctional keyboards for work and entertainment, which are worth paying attention to in 2022 / Habr

Hey Habr! In 2022, new gadgets continue to come out, despite the shortage of semiconductors and the associated crisis in the industry. Today I propose to pay attention to new and not so keyboards that are suitable for both work and leisure. We at Selectel are fans of good keyboards, from minimalist to custom with a bunch of things like backlighting and LED screens.

Therefore, we are closely following interesting novelties and simply trendy keyboards. Well, today I will share the results of observations. All presented keyboards are different — large and small, backlit and without. One thing unites them — they are good both in work and in entertainment.

Corsair K63

Let’s start with this model, because it looks quite interesting. The keyboard is gaming, but it is quite comfortable to work on it. It comes with a kind of docking station, which includes a mouse pad. Accordingly, during the game, nothing slides on the table and fails at the most crucial moment.

It is worth noting that the mouse is not included, unlike a similar system from Razer. This keyboard also has one more feature — only blue backlighting, plus only Cherry MX Red switches. There is no numeric keypad, so the keyboard is slightly smaller than the «colleagues» with the presence of such a block.

It can be connected to a PC or laptop either via Bluetooth or via a 2.4 GHz USB adapter with 128-bit AES encryption. Moreover, you can connect this keyboard with a cable, which allows you to charge the battery at the same time.

The device recognizes any number of keys pressed simultaneously. You can use any mouse, both the simplest and the most sophisticated gaming mouse. By the way, together with the docking station, the keyboard can be placed on your knees and played from any place in the apartment or house — it is not necessary to be at the table.

It costs $159.99.

FICIHIP universal keyboard with display

It has now become a fashionable trend for laptop manufacturers to embed the display not only where it should be, but also to mount the screen in the keyboard. Of course, this is done only with business-class models, but it still looks rather unusual.

Keyboard manufacturers decided to keep up with laptop vendors and create a multimedia universal keyboard with a 12.6-inch screen. The system can be connected not only to a laptop or PC, but also to a smartphone or tablet. Moreover, the keyboard screen can be used to expand the capabilities of the main display of the device to which this system is connected.

The keyboard, by the way, was developed by the Chinese startup Shenzhen Pengling Zhichuang Technology, which is now raising money on Kickstarter. Such a device cannot be inexpensive, so even early investors are forced to pay $210. And the retail price is even higher — as much as $ 379.

Keyboard with aluminum housing, QWERTY layout. Screen resolution —
1920 x 515 pixels. The touch display recognizes up to 10 clicks at the same time.

An interesting point — apparently, the display here is the same as the Zenbook Duo UX481 laptop, which also has a second screen. Perhaps the developers of this keyboard have an agreement with the factory that supplies laptops for ASUS, who knows. Other features include backlighting and K1 Scissor switches. Yes, the keys can be changed «hot». The connection is strictly wired.

Custom keyboards — a very interesting topic, but we have other articles, check it out — we talk about:

→ Little «raspberries» in a large data center
→ Apple’s new SoCs — M1 Pro and M1 Max
→ Building your own server enclosure

iQunix A80 Explorer

The keyboard is mechanical and wireless, with Cherry MX Red (tested) switches. There is an RGB backlight, the size is 80% of a full-scale device.

According to the developers, the keyboard combines vintage design with new features. A kind of incarnation of old mechanical keyboards with a bunch of features. The creators of the system have provided a lot, including damping foam and stabilizers. By the way, not so long ago we translated a good review of this keyboard, you can see it at this link.

In general, this keyboard can compete with custom keyboards, despite the fact that it is produced in relatively large batches. It costs, however, like a cast-iron bridge — with a discount now $ 169.00 But if there is a need for a convenient tool, then the price may not seem particularly high (no, it’s still a rather high price).

Samsung Keyboard Trio 500

The South Korean corporation Samsung also offered its own version of the keyboard. One of its features is the presence of the DeX button, pressing which allows you to quickly activate the Android-as-a-desktop-OS software. Well, that is, the keyboard can be connected to the corresponding smartphone, use an external display and get a full-fledged workstation.

In addition to the button already mentioned, there are three more customizable keys to which additional functions can be assigned. The device also has buttons for switching between different devices. Naturally, all this happiness only works for users with supported devices. These include the Galaxy Tab S4, S5e, S6, S7 series tablets and the Galaxy Tab Active Pro.

The cost of the keyboard is not as high as the above mentioned models — you can buy it for $55.

Wuque Studio Mammoth75

This keyboard is one of the most expensive on the market. The cost of the base model starts at $359, but the model with «full stuffing» costs $719. It’s all about the materials used and the number of functions. The wireless option is more expensive than the wired one.

This keyboard was designed as a luxury system, even the packaging is different from all the others.

The aluminum case has a golden mammoth logo, hence the price. It is worth noting that this keyboard can be called custom, and just like most custom keyboards, it needs to be collected. True, the developer made sure that it was possible to assemble without much difficulty.

It comes with a separate numeric key module — something like Microsoft Sculpt, where this block is also assembled in a separate case. By the way, despite the cost, the system comes without switches and buttons, so all this will have to be bought separately.

In general, the idea is, of course, interesting, but it is unlikely that such a keyboard will become too popular. Rather, it is a piece device that is bought by those who care about external gloss. Separately, it must be said that the keyboard will be delivered from July 2022.

PowerColor x Ducky One 2 SF RGB

PowerColor decided to develop its own keyboard, and, as far as one can tell, it succeeded.
