This tracker does not track non-expansion servers as they cannot drop an Annihilus charm anyway.

Choosing the best free clone of Diablo
Diablo Immortal, which was released in the summer, received mixed reviews, and one of the main problems was the micropayment system — players quickly calculated that in order to get the coolest equipment, they would either need to play for a hundred years for free or invest thousands of dollars. Not all fans of the genre are ready for this, but do they have alternatives? It so happened that in the fall, almost simultaneously, several notable free-to-play action/RPGs were released at once, which target the same audience. Path of Exile

But first, about Path of Exile. All long-time fans of the genre know very well that this is the best free action / RPG in the style of Diablo , which has been around since 2013. True, the game with Immortal has a slightly different audience — PoE has a more hardcore one. For veterans of the genre, it makes no sense to describe the game in detail, but for beginners, let’s recall the main pros and cons Path of Exile — especially since there is still no editorial review of the game on the site.

The success of Path of Exile is based on several pillars at once. The first is the deepest and in many ways unique role-playing system. The famous (really huge!) skill tree allows you to flexibly customize the character for yourself, so the starting class choice is not critical. Huntress, bandit, witch, priest, savage, gladiator and noblewoman — all of them can be developed using passive skills

In addition, the PoE features almost endless endgame possibilities. It is mainly associated with the passage of the «Atlas of Worlds» — a network of maps with difficult challenges, strong enemies and bosses, where, accordingly, cool rewards fall out.
In general, Path of Exile , compared to other shareware action/RPGs, is just characterized by increased complexity — and in this sense, it is closest to the classic Diablo. And much closer than Immortal , including stylistically. Already at the seventh or eighth level of character development, that is, in fact, at the very beginning, you will encounter local bosses that will force you to retreat and die.
The same skill tree.
During the passage of the campaign, there are especially difficult tests, after completing which you can get into the Labyrinth filled with monsters and traps. You can also fight the gods to receive bonuses from them, and explore corrupted areas with unique bosses. And at the start, you will be offered something that is usually not offered in such free-to-play projects — to play in a standard league or in hardcore, where a character can die only once. nine0003
Finally, the most important part of Path of Exile is multiplayer, which involves both joint raids and battles with other users in various modes, including arenas, duels, tournaments and entire PvP seasons. In general, the content in the game is abyss.
It is also worth noting the well-developed lore and, in general, an interesting story campaign for 10 acts, which involves traveling through different thematic zones.
Unusual mechanics of using potions, extensive league system (in fact, these are three-month events) , trade between players and a unique economy where not coins are used for buying and selling, but items, resources for improvement or, for example, identification scrolls — all this also defines the style of Path of Exile .
In such a situation, it is better to switch from a bow to a melee weapon.
Vs
Few problems. Unless there is a rather high entry threshold — it will not be easy to figure out the same huge skill tree and build the build correctly. And some cons PoE come from its own advantages and are associated with the frequent release of add-ons. Not everyone was satisfied with them.
Some of the supplements seemed useless and insignificant, some were not satisfied with changes in mechanics, new types of currency, or the fact that the authors primitively increased the difficulty by simply restoring the health of the monsters and reducing the damage of the players. As a result, many began to leave the project, but the authors promised to take everything into account and fix it.
What about the donation?
Drink to wine is not in the game. For money, “cosmetics” are sold here — additional effects for characters, non-combat pets, decorations for the shelter. In addition, you can purchase additional stash tabs and character slots, the right to collaborate with authors to develop your content, and create private leagues in which users themselves determine how difficult they will be. nine0003
And for money, you will be allowed to sell items on a centralized marketplace — in this case, other players will be able to see what is stored in a personal chest.

Torchlight: Infinite

In October, the game went into open beta simultaneously on PC and mobile platforms. Over the course of five acts, we destroy enemies and develop heroes using a variety of possibilities. The whole game is about grinding and getting equipment (better, of course, the legendary one). Multi-colored equipment falls in packs. It can be strengthened, enchanted, crafted and subjected to «corrosion». In the latter case, bonuses are randomly applied to the item, but it will be considered «corrupted» — then, when creating the same item, twice as many resources will be required. nine0003
The role system also puts pressure on the quantity. Here you have 24 talent tabs that open as you reach a certain level of character development, and additional characteristics that open at certain levels, and more than two hundred active / passive skills that can be manually assigned, changed and improved. The system of contracts is especially interesting — these are rings with passive skills, where you can also assign the so-called «contract spirits». The latter not only give bonuses (for example, to minion damage or elemental resistance), but also change these same rings. nine0003
The more energy the hero has, the more skills are available.
Some of the heroes can also be called interesting, there are five of them today — in addition to the rather standard barbarian, the fire-ice caster and the shooter with pistols, there is also Yuga, who uses the illusion of space-time in battle, and the bearded Moto, who creates crowds instead of attacking minions. Then it becomes possible to use modified versions of the main characters — for example, the spellcaster Gemma, deprived of the power of fire, who relies only on ice. nine0003
Also in Torchlight: Infinite there is a trade, an auction and a free market — using the trading house, everything acquired and obtained by overwork can be put up for sale and bought. Let’s also add to the pluses nice cartoon graphics, the availability of the game in Russia and the official translation into the great and mighty.
Vs
The fact that enemies and even bosses practically do not resist during the story campaign is kind of normal for such shareware diabloids. True, and at Diablo Immortal , and in Path of Exile the opponents are still stronger. And here, even most of the story bosses can be defeated simply by standing still — despite the fact that they actively change tactics and attacks. And in case of death, you are free to immediately return to the battle for free, where the boss no longer has half of his health.
Everything changes in the endgame, where there are special challenges in the Underworld — there you will meet strengthened versions of familiar enemies, completely new bosses that can kill with almost one attack, and modifiers that complicate the game. There is also a semblance of a tower mode, where you need to sequentially clear floor by floor. Here, respawns are already limited, and after death there is a penalty to experience. nine0003
The problem is that the endgame opens only after completing the story campaign, while in the same Immortal raids into dungeons and other complicated tests are available until the end of the «story».
Crafting, strengthening and enchanting items are also unlocked at later stages (only «corrosion» is available at first). And here the question arises: are you ready for five acts, yawning, to destroy crowds of enemies with your left hand, so that later you will gain access to all the opportunities and special tests, which also cannot be called very diverse? nine0003
In addition, there is no co-op or multiplayer in the game at the moment. Yes, Path of Exile also has a long campaign to play before the Atlas of Worlds opens, but both the plot and the endgame look more elaborate and varied. This, however, is not surprising, given that Torchlight: Infinite has just been released.
It remains to be hoped that in the next seasons there will be more difficult challenges before the endgame — it is for this that you can continue to upgrade your character and knock out / create legendary equipment, so that later, together with him, move from the permanent zone to new adventures. There are also technical flaws (some even had their accounts reset to zero), and the lack of a sorting by price function on the auction caused particular pain among the fans. The authors promised to add co-op and make the auction system more convenient, but there will definitely not be PvP in Infinite .

But pets can also be obtained for free, and damage per second is much more efficient to increase by free crafting equipment.
But resurrection tokens, the ability to reset talent points, expand the tabs in the inventory and chest (even in PoE you have to pay for this!) And the skill bar are also purchased for in-game currency. You can also earn (albeit not so quickly) “emblems of heroism” by playing the game method to buy modified versions of heroes. nine0003

Undecember went into early access at the same time as Torchlight: Infinite and collected over 10,000 reviews in a month. Yes, they are contradictory, but this does not negate the great interest in the project.

In many ways, this interest is due to the fact that initially the authors of Undecember were almost competing Path of Exile . This even applies to the appearance — unlike Torchlight: Infinite and Daiblo Immortal , here we have a harsh, gloomy fantasy. And quite, I must say, pretty.
The plot, of course, does not impress — we again run from character to character, help repel some attacks, broadcast something about the coming of an evil god, but we are gently asked to first solve local problems, and then take on global ones. And so on for 10 acts. But we must pay tribute, all this is accompanied by epic cut-scenes. nine0003
In addition, the role-playing system pleases with the possibilities, which simultaneously refers to Path of Exile and Grim Dawn. Here, too, classes are not particularly important and you can create a flexible character who, for example, armed with a bow, will summon minions or throw fireballs without releasing an ax from calloused hands.
The fact is that, as in Path of Exile , skills and spells used in combat are determined by gems (in Undecember — runes). True, unlike PoE, they do not need to be inserted directly into the equipment. And they are pumped not by themselves, but by handles. There is a separate menu for runes, where we are free to bind them to each other in order to get additional properties. And for special artisans, you can enchant runes and strengthen them with the help of found resources. Science is not easy — it is important to select runes with the right number of faces of a certain color and correctly connect them with each other. But the result is worth it. nine0003
Other ingredients allow you to add magical and even legendary properties to items, enhance or randomly change them. Plus enchantment is available. Finally, there is the constellation system, almost as extensive as the skill tree in PoE . It allows you to both increase the main characteristics and receive passive bonuses — to spells, to intelligence or health points, and so on.
Endgame content also opens after the end of the story campaign, but the modes are really interesting. Here you can go through maps with different conditions in the Dungeons of Chaos, and a joint raid for eight players against a particularly strong villain, and again cooperative survival (but for four) against waves of enemies, and an attempt to stand alone against all the bosses of the game . Against
Undecember , as I said, in the story campaign it feels more difficult than Torchlite: Infinite , especially at first and for melee characters. But in general, the game also practically does not resist in any way — in this sense, both Diablo Immortal and especially Path of Exile look more balanced. At some point, I went on an experiment — I deliberately did not upgrade the parameters, I only changed runes and equipment, and still my rune finder scattered everyone like grains of sand. Only somewhere in the middle of the campaign boss battles can be interesting and stressful. nine0003
Destroy the boss standing still.
This is complemented by a much more predictable randomness (or rather, it often does not exist at all) compared to the same Path of Exile , long runs from one character to another, tedious work in guilds and a boring second half of the campaign built on self-repetitions , where even the bosses are repeated, and something changes only in small things.
In addition, with all the external cuteness and atmosphere, Undecember is strangely optimized — in some locations everything is fine, while in others wild «freezes» begin (it seems, after installing the next updates).
What about the donation?
At the start of Undecember, got hit hard just for the draconian, according to many, monetization system, when even autoloot was not available without investing money. It was obvious that the authors are trying to make the gameplay as uncomfortable as possible for those who stubbornly refuse to pay. Also, with the help of blood money, you can level up faster and increase your chances, for example, when sharpening a rune to high levels. Drakensang Online

Drakensang Online also arrived in Early Access this fall. Agree, this is somewhat strange for a game that actually came out 10 years ago, even before the release of Path of Exile . The authors did not break the comedy and immediately indicated that a «complete», more stable and balanced version would appear before the end of November. In addition, it includes a large (though also not new) extension Dark Legacy.

Graphics in Drakensang Online looked great just 10 years ago, for a «browser». Now she’s just normal. But the obvious advantages include the rich lore of the eminent board game The Dark Eye — its first edition was released in Germany back in 1984, went through several editions (each time the rules changed and became more complicated) and became even more popular there than Dungeons & Dragons .
True, from the deep role-playing system, turn-based battles, critical injury system, moral dilemmas and party RPG mechanics implemented in The Dark Eye 2008 release, little left in the browser version. But the resulting «shareware Diablo » won its audience.
This was largely due to the abundance of various multi-stage adventures and tasks. This immediately involved in what was happening and gave a sense of self-importance, involvement in epic events associated with the appearance of a mighty dragon and a rift between worlds.
At the same time, already in the first acts of the campaign, serious challenges and dungeons appeared, where bosses, and even ordinary enemies (if you increase the difficulty level), gave a light. For example, if you clear the entire level, then as a result, an extremely harsh location boss would come. Therefore, such tests are best done in a group. There is a good endgame in Drakensang Online , connected with the passage of a chain of individual quests and maps in the Interworld, as well as several PvP modes, including capturing the flag and storming the castle, divided into two stages. The pluses include the abundance of loot of varying rarity, into which you can insert gems and runes, as well as a separate branch of group talents designed specifically for PvP and joint raids.
Against
Cons are obvious. This is primarily a simple role-playing system, based mainly on the study of class skills. But the number of these classes has not increased over 10 years — there are only four of them (a typical «tank», a mage, a ranger and a local variation of an engineer). nine0003
Now, after the release on Steam, the authors seem to promise to add a new class, rebalance for new players and expand the endgame. In addition, they plan to rework PvP, including a new mode and a complete change in the skill tree.
But for now, these are all words, and in general it is not very clear why the game was re-released, if the cat cried new content, there is no separate server, but it is full of technical flaws like unexpected crashes to the desktop as soon as you enter a new location (and they gave you a one-time, and very rare, ticket, which, of course, disappears after a reboot). nine0003

And here we have the pay-to-win system in full swing. The presence of difficult challenges already at the beginning of the campaign is largely due to the desire to force users to spend money on a premium status (among other things, it gives a bonus to experience and an additional tab in the inventory, initially very limited), as well as on a special currency — for it, in particular, powerful equipment and keys for opening chests with rare loot are on sale.
Yes, the authors, of course, lure us in every possible way — either they will throw keys for chests, or they will give you a premium status for a while so that you feel what it’s like not to be a homeless person here. But everyone understands everything and they don’t roll their lips too much. nine0003
In theory, a rare currency into which money is converted can also be earned for free — for example, received for completing quests and filling out a local battle pass. However, it builds up slowly. As an option, don’t jump on the rampage and not overestimate the complexity of the dungeons (then you can play without groups and special investments). But this, as you already understood, is rather boring. In addition, the brutally limited inventory makes the game very uncomfortable anyway.
What is the result?
By and large a real competitor Diablo Immortal remains Path of Exile . The rest either also offer merciless monetization, or are too easy in the story campaign. On the other hand, Path of Exile has problems that have become especially acute in recent times. In addition, the entry threshold is high, and for many, the game is frankly boring. Therefore, people are waiting for Path of Exile 2 , which should finally be shown next year.
In any case, any of the presented games may be of interest. But it is clear that the desire to earn money for you and me will not go anywhere — the authors Diablo Immortal , of course, they make indulgences (in particular, there are plans to introduce a special currency that will allow you to earn premium content without having to pay money for it), but the information that flashed in November that the game brought $ 300 million on mobile phones says for herself.

Sacred
In 2004, Ascaron Entertainment successfully copied the core mechanics of Diablo, capturing the thrill of spectacularly grinding enemies, gradually increasing character power, and exploring randomly generated locations. At that time, Diablo 2 was 4 years old — it was easy for players to sell a more or less tolerable and, most importantly, fresh alternative.
Why we liked it:
Fully 3D graphics, custom hero classes, the ability to combine skills for more strategic builds, and – most notably – time-saving horseback riding. It seems that it was after the first Sacred that the term «Diablo killer» became popular.
Why it’s impossible to play now:
Ascaron’s game fell short in details. Sacred, with its technical advantages, gives away cheapness, and there are enough bugs — while Blizzard of those times only released perfectly polished games. But worst of all is the nightmarish balance: the developers have made a lot of builds, from which stand out some especially broken ones and a bunch of useless and pointless ones. In the sequel, none of this was fixed, and the triquel generally turned into a one-button non-slasher with linear locations without an open world. nine0003
Victor Vran
Bulgarian Haemimont Games distinguished themselves by making not just a clone of Diablo, but a clone of a clone — the developers are clearly fans of The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing niche. Victor Vran is the same evil fighter Van Helsing, only cooler and in a cool hat.
Why we liked it:
Vitya moves with absurdly elaborate acrobatic maneuvers and constantly does somersaults. In other diabloids, the heroes lazily run back and forth through the arenas, but here every movement is like a stunt trick. nine0003
Why it’s impossible to play now:
Viktor Vran is much less similar to Diablo than other games on the list — probably, even the Borderlands shooter would look more organic here. Haemimont Games threw out everything «role-playing»: the hero has no talents and branched pumping, and combat skills are determined by simply equipped weapons. There are, of course, special cards with different effects, but they do not make the gameplay much more diverse. So as soon as you get tired of Victor’s somersaults, the game can be turned off. nine0003
Dawn of Magic (Blood Magic)
The list of strange zero diabloids has no right to exist if there is no «Blood Magic» from the Russian company Skyfallen Entertainment in it. The game is important: it was even published in the USA by Atari under the name Dawn of Magic (“Dawn of Magic”)!
Why we liked it:
Magic has a very simple but effective gameplay hook: in large fights, a bleeding sword appears on the screen with a multiplier depending on the chain of kills of enemies. When the series ends, the indicator on the sword increases the amount of experience gained. The better you fight, the faster you swing! nine0003
In addition, after Diablo 2, there is an outrageous character customization. It can be determined immediately in 3 of the 12 schools of magic, but they only set the initial leveling path, and do not limit the entire build. The hero even changes appearance depending on which schools he most often uses: horns, spikes can grow, legs become an air cloud, and his head lights up.
Why it’s impossible to play now:
In 2005, the game took graphics, now eyes are flowing from it. The plot in «Blood Magic» is generally not worth (but rather impossible) to remember 15 years later.
