Thus, it is in this very year that the «date of death» of the Sony PlayStation 4 game console will come, because the leadership of the Japanese corporation will begin to consider it completely obsolete. This is quite fair, because at the end of 2025 this console will turn 12 years old, and this is a huge period for any electronic device, and even more so for the gaming process. By then, the now available PS5 will have to fully replace its predecessor, offering players a whole host of amazing exclusive video games and, in addition, many other benefits.

In a conversation with Japanese web portal NLab, Sony Interactive Entertainment denied a recent rumor that the continued release of PlayStation 4 in 2022 is due to a PlayStation 5 shortage problem.
The information was first published by Bloomberg on January 12. According to the source of the publication, SIE originally planned to stop production of PS4 at the end of 2021, but due to the ongoing shortage of PlayStation 5 has abandoned this and was about to ship about 1 million more of the previous console.
A spokesperson for the company said that Sony initially had no plans to stop production of the PS4 last year . He emphasized that, as with previous consoles, both old and new devices are being produced and sold in parallel during the generational change, and the PS4 is still one of the company’s best-selling consoles.
At the same time, Microsoft recently officially confirmed that it stopped production of all Xbox One models at the end of 2020 in order to focus on the release of the Xbox Series X|S.
