Destiny 2 polaris lanze katalysator: What The Polaris Lance Catalyst Does & How To Find It

What The Polaris Lance Catalyst Does & How To Find It

The Polaris Lance Catalyst can really upgrade the Destiny 2 exotic. Here’s how to snag it and what it does.

The Polaris Lance is an interesting weapon in Destiny 2. Introduced way back in the Warmind expansion it came with a controversial perk that made it a strong weapon on paper, but annoying in practice. While the weapon itself can no longer be obtained, for now, its Catalyst can still be acquired.

The Polaris Lance Catalyst makes the weapon a bit more bearable to use and gives it a little more punch in combat. Whether or not it’s worth tracking down and upgrading is for the player to decide. For players who already have the Polaris Lance and are thinking about getting the Catalyst here’s what it does and how to find it.

What It Does

The Polaris Lance Catalyst provides the weapon with a single, but interesting perk:

  • Dragonfly – Precision kills create an elemental damage explosion

The Intrinsic perk The Perfect Fifth requires players to get four precision shots in order to trigger a Solar explosive round for the next shot. The issue for many players was getting four precision shots in a row without missing.

The Dragonfly perk from the Polaris Lance Catalyst causes each precision hit to do extra damage. In the best-case scenario, the player gets four powerful precision hits with elemental damage explosions on each with the final solar blast on the fifth shot from the Perfect Fifth perk. Worst case scenario a single precision shot now deals more damage than usual.

How To Get It

The Polaris Lance Catalyst is obtained via random drop during Strikes, Crucible, and Gambit rounds. There’s no way to increase the odds of it dropping and it seems to be a rather rare drop in line with other Catalysts.

RELATED: Destiny 2: What The Heir Apparent Does & How To Find It

Strikes are probably the easiest and most efficient way of grinding for this Catalyst. In reality, players should go with whatever they’re most comfortable with and be patient. The Polaris Lance Catalyst could drop in a few matches or take several weeks to appear.

Upgrading

Once the Polaris Lance Catalyst is in the player’s possession they’ll want to upgrade it. To do this players need to do two things:

  • Kill 500 enemies with the Polaris Lance
  • Kill 50 enemies specifically with the Perfect Fifth solar explosive shot

The first component is rather simple and retroactive. Any kills performed by the Polaris Lance to get the Catalyst will count. The second aspect can be annoying as getting four precision hits followed by a kill with the fifth shot can be tricky.

Tips

In all honesty, the player needs to seriously consider if this Catalyst is worth pursuing. The Polaris Lance isn’t exactly the best Scout Rifle out there and others are certainly easier to wield. The Catalyst also takes a bit of a grind and the 50 Perfect Fifth kills can be a problem.

The player will likely want to live in PVE mode if they commit to this process. It makes it easier to grind for the Catalyst and get the 500 kills. The 50 Perfect Fifth kills are also easier to obtain when dealing with a group of low-level enemies as opposed to other players in Crucible.

what does the polaris-lance catalyst do and how to find it — Game Advisor

Guides

AuthorBazshura

Polaris Spear is an interesting weapon in Destiny 2 . It was introduced back in Warmind and came with a controversial perk that made it a powerful weapon on paper but annoying in practice. Although the weapon itself is no longer obtainable, its catalyst can be purchased for the time being. The Polaris Lance Catalyst makes the weapon more comfortable to use and gives it a little more power in combat. Whether it is worth searching for and upgrading it is up to the player to decide. For players who already own a Polaris Lance and are thinking about getting a Catalyst, here’s what it does and how to find it.

What it does

The Polaris Lance Catalyst gives the weapon a unique but interesting benefit:

  • Dragonfly — Precise hits create an elemental damage burst

The «Perfect Fifth» innate perk requires the player to fire four accurate shots to trigger a burst of solar energy for the next shot. The problem for many players was getting four accurate shots in a row without missing. The Dragonfly perk from the Polaris Lance Catalyst deals additional damage on each accurate hit. At best, the player gets four powerful accurate hits with elemental bursts of damage on each of them and a final solar burst on the fifth shot thanks to the Perfect Fifth perk. In the worst case, one well-placed hit deals more damage than usual.

How to get

The Polaris Lance Catalyst can be obtained through random drops during the Strikes, Crucible and Gambit rounds. There is no way to increase its drop rate, and it appears to drop fairly infrequently, on par with other Catalysts. Strikes are probably the easiest and most efficient way to mine this Catalyst. In fact, players should act in the way that suits them best and be patient. The Polaris Lance Catalyst may drop after a few matches or appear after a few weeks.

Upgrade

Once the Polaris Lance Catalyst is in the player’s hands, they will want to upgrade it. To do this, players need to do two things:

  • Kill 500 enemies with the Polaris Lance
  • Kill 50 enemies with Perfect Fifth’s solar burst shot.

The first component is quite simple and retroactive. All kills made with the Polaris Lance to obtain a catalyst will be counted. The second aspect can be irritating, as getting four accurate hits followed by a kill with a fifth shot can be tricky.

Tips

In truth, the player needs to seriously consider whether or not to pursue this catalyst. The Polaris Lance is not the best scout rifle and the others are definitely easier to handle. Also, the Catalyst requires some tension, and 50 perfect fifth kills can be a challenge. The player will most likely want to live in PVE mode if they take up this process. This will make it easier to get the Catalyst and get 500 kills. 50 Perfect Fifth Kills is also easier to get when dealing with a group of low level enemies compared to other players in the Crucible.

Best Destiny 2: Shadowkeep for multiplayer weapons

Destiny 2 is a first-person shooter from Bungie. Despite receiving mediocre reviews, the original Destiny has become one of the best-selling games on Xbox and PlayStation. Destiny 2 improves on that formula, and its tale of revenge, including many light-hearted moments, was loved by critics and consumers alike.

Destiny 2 has many modes, but its multiplayer offerings are some of the most rewarding. However, it can be quite difficult to succeed when you are competing against other players. Below I have put together a list of the best all-around weapons that you can do really well in any situation.

Scout Rifle

We recommend using the Polaris Lance Scout Rifle because you can kill enemies with just three headshots. Generally, getting two body shots and a headshot also works. The best part is that every 5th shot causes a massive explosion, so sometimes you’ll deal burning damage over the course of a few seconds. Since other players are constantly damaged, you can even see where they are hiding!

This weapon can be found on Mars and is part of a long quest that gives you the Polaris Lance recon gun and its catalyst.

Submachine Gun

Usually in the Crucible you are either forced to engage in long-range combat or close combat. While the Polaris Lance can help you with the former, the latter is a little more difficult. In my opinion, equipping the main submachine gun is the best solution. My favorites are Hard Truths and Antiope-D. Both fire at an incredibly fast pace, but the Antiope-D seems to be easier to control and therefore more accurate.

Solid Truths can be found by buying tokens from Lord Shaxx. Antiope-D can be found by redeeming Gunsmith Materials from Banshee-44.

Grenade Launcher

This last category varies considerably. In my opinion, using a grenade launcher — any for that matter — is the right way to go, because you get a lot of grenades when you take heavy ammo. This means that even if you miss a target, you can still take a few more rounds to make sure they are dead. This allows you to make more mistakes. I’ve used Outrageous Fortune and I think it’s a pretty good option.
