Minecraft console commands and cheats | Full list and how to use them
They range from simple options that let you handle routine interactions more quickly to more unusual commands which enable you do everything from teleport to change the weather.
You’ll be pleased to know that these aren’t the kind of toxic cheats that have been plaguing games such as Call of Duty Warzone — they’re only allowed in worlds where cheats are enabled, and are more focused on enhancing creative power than wiping out enemies.
So to take the hard work out of crafting and speed up your inventory navigation, here’s a list of the best Minecraft commands and cheats — which are achieved by something called console commands.

How to use Minecraft commands
Firstly, as with most mods, these cheats are only available on PC, so console players will have to grind the old-fashioned way. Secondly, these can only be used on worlds where cheats are enabled — you’ll be asked this when you create a world, or opening a single-player game to LAN and selecting ‘Allow Cheats’.
With your cheat-enabled world ready and loaded, all you need to do is enter some commands now — with the first step to press the ‘C’ key to bring up the command bar.
The command bar is where you’ll enter the commands, and each one must be prefixed by a forward slash (/). You’ll also have to choose targets to be the recipients of your cheats — but rather than type out full names, you can use this shorthand target selector shortcuts:
- @p = nearest player
- @r = random player
- @a = all players
- @e = all entities
- @s = the entity executing the command
That’s the basics — now you just need to enter your desired cheat through with the following console commands.
What are the best Minecraft console commands?
There are dozens of cheat codes to discover in Minecraft, but these five are a great place to start.
- Teleport to a specific location — /tp [player] <x y z>
- Give a player free experience points — /experience add <player> <amount>
- Change the weather — /weather <type> [duration]
- Give a player free items — /give <player> <item> [quantity]
- Freeze selected mobs — /freeze

Minecraft player console commands
Mojang
Kill
/kill [player]
Kills your character. If there are other players in your world, you can also target them by typing their name.
Teleport
/tp [player] <x y z>
Teleport yourself to specified coordinates in the world.
again, can be used on another player by adding their name.
Status Effects
/effect <player|entity> <effect> [duration]
Applies the chosen effect to the specified player or entity, with the duration in seconds.
Clear Status Effects
/effect clear <player|entity> [effect]
Clears either all effects or just a specified effect from a player or entity
Enchantment
/enchant <player> <enchantment> [level]
Applies a specified enchantment to the chosen player’s selected item, at an option of their choosing.
Experience
/experience add <player> <amount>
Adds the stated experience points to a specified player. Adding the the word levels at the end will add experience levels instead.
Help
/help [CommandName]
Provides more information on the selected command.
Give
/give <Player> <Item> [Amount]
Give another player a specified amount of an item in your inventory.
Minecraft World Console Commands

Seed Code
/seed
Gives you a seed code so you can recreate your world later.
Set World Spawn Location
/setworldspawn [x y z]
Set the world spawn location either to the player’s current position or a set of entered coordinates.
Change Game Mode
/gamemode <type> [player]
Change the game mode type to either survival, creative, adventure, or spectator.
Change Difficulty Level
/difficulty <level>
Change the difficulty level to either peaceful, easy, normal, or hard.
Change World Time
/time set <value>
Change the world game time with the following values: 0 = Dawn, 1000 = Morning, 6000 = Midday, 12000 = Dusk, or 18000 = Night.
Stop Day/Night Cycle
/gamerule doDaylightCycle false
Turn the day/night cycle off, and change false to true to restart it.
Weather
/weather <type> [duration]
Change the weather, with the type as either clear, rain, or thunder and an optional duration in seconds.
Turn Off Weather Changes
/gamerule doWeatherCycle false
Turn off weather changes, replacing false with true once again to reactivate.
Clone Blocks
/clone <x1 y1 z1> <x2 y2 z2> <x y z>
Clones the blocks between coordinates <x1 y1 z1> and <x2 y2 z2>, and place them at coordinates <x y z>.
Atlantis mode
/atlantis
A creative one this one — raise the water level in your world to imitate Atlantis.
Change Fall damage
/falldamage
Turn fall damage on and off.
Fire damage
/firedamage
Turn off and on fire damage.
Water damage
/waterdamage
Change whether water damage is enabled
Instant plant
/instantplant
Planted seeds grow instantly.
Instant mine
/instantmine
Enables one-click mining.

Add to Inventory
/give <player> <item> [quantity]
Adds a specified item to the player’s inventory, in the chosen quantity if possible.
Keep Inventory After Death
/gamerule keepInventory true
You do not lose your inventory items after dying. Again, replace true with false to undo.
Summon Entities
/summon <entity> [x y z]
Spawns the mod or other entity at the player’s location, or chosen coordinates.
Store items
/dropstore
All inventory items are stored in a newly spawned chest.
Item damage
/itemdamage
Weapons no longer take damage or degrade.
Duplicate
/duplicate
Copies the equipped item stack.
Smelt item
/superheat
Smelts selected items.
Ride
/ride
Turns the selected creature into a mount.
Freeze
/freeze
Freezes selected mobs.

Upside-Down Mobs and Rainbow Sheep Easter Eggs
If you name a name tag «jeb_» exactly like that (without the quotes) and name a sheep it will change its body color to all sorts of colors.
And if you name a name tag «Dinnerbone» like that and you name any mob it will be upside down!

Creative to Survival and Reverse Cheats
Make a new world on Creative and then place items such as diamonds etc, and then save and exit.
After that, play it but in the part where you put the textures, there you put it on Survival. 🙂

How to do Duplication Cheats
Put the items you want to duplicate in your inventory and make sure auto save is on. Also have a chest ready.
Then you want to turn off autosave and put it right back on. Then put the relevant items in the chest and hold the Xbox Guide/PSS button and force close the application.
Then re-enter the world and the items will be in your inventory and in the chest.

Unlimited Obsidian Duplication Cheats
On survival make a nether portal and go to the nether. Get someone to join your game and break a block out of the portal (in the overworld) then go back through the portal (in the nether).
This should spawn a new portal near the previous portal. Do this as many times as you want.
If you do it a lot there should be nether portals everywhere (not everywhere, but you know what I mean).
Now break all the obsidian from the broken portals. You should have a lot of obsidian by now (depending on how many portals you spawned in).
Now you can use this obsidian for whatever you want (enchantment tables are a wise choice).

Create in any world.
Create a 3 by 3 wool stand, break the wool block in the middle and replace it with a chest.
Then light all the wool blocks and voila, there’s your ghast statue!

X-Ray Vision Hints
- Take a block of glowstone, then an ender pearl.
- Then dig three blocks down and place the glowstone above you.
- Then get the ender pearl and throw it at the glowstone.

Wear Any Block on Your Head Glitches
First, you get a dispenser.
Then you get a block that can only stack to 64.
Fill up the dispenser with the block of your choice, then exit out of the dispenser.
Then press L2/LT and triangle/Y at the same time.

Obsidian Diamonds Glitches
Go on creative. You will need these things: redstone, lever, TNT, obsidian, and one diamond.
- Then you change it to survival and make a three by three obsidian square 3 blocks high.
- Make a line of obsidian from you to the square.
- Put redstone all the way to the square and put a lever on your end.
- Put a chest in the square of obsidian and put the one diamond in it.
- Put one block of obsidian over the chest and then put TNT over that.
- Then BOOM!!!!! You have multiple diamonds.

Block Placing Glitches
Make a block of diamond, iron, lapis, gold, or emerald and place it down.
Break it and right away place it back down, and then the block will duplicate.
Then go back to your personal crafting table and convert them back.
You can’t use the other crafting table otherwise your block will disappear.

Unlimited Nether Quartz Glitches
If you set up a normal survival Minecraft world, you must go to the nether (after building the portal) then gather any recourses (nether quartz, glow stone, etc).
Then go back to the over world. Exit and save then go back onto the world after «resetting the nether» on the world options. Go into the nether.
You should still have all of your previous recourses, but the blocks you mined ( nether quartz ore, etc.) should still be there.
Mine it again and repeat until you have enough resources!

Respawn the enderdragon Hints
If you place four end crystals on each side on the enderdragon nest with the egg on the middle pole, it will respawn the other end crystals on the obsidian towers and then respawn the dragon.

Dragon Killing for Experience Hints
First kill the dragon and then go to the stronghold and throw the dragon’s egg.
This way the dragon will respawn. Then copy your world from the PSN/Xbox save files.
Then you should delete the original world and enter the copy.
You will find the dragon again with everything you had!
So this is a good way to get lots of experience from killing many dragons.

Two people on a pig! Cheats
This will only work in survival mode DO NOT DO ANYTHING ON CREATIVE ON THE SAME WORLD.
- Two players must get 30 diamonds from a cave EACH
- Get 4 pigs
- Put a saddle on all 4 pigs
- Get a lava bucket
- Pour lava on ONE pig
- Both must put diamonds in lava at the same time
- Players will each choose their own pig
- Both players jump into lava at the same time
- Both players will die, respawn and find the last pig
- Both players will press LT on the pig AT THE SAME TIME enjoy!

The Rainbow Sheep Glitches
get a sheep spawn egg out of creative, get an anvil and name the sheep egg inside the anvil \»jeb_\» and if you spawn it in after it makes a sheep that changes colors. Note that when you kill it it will still only drop white wool unless you dye it.

Invisibility Glitches
To turn invisible, follow the steps below.
- Put a boat next to a bed.
- At night, get in the boat.
- Without leaving the boat, get in the bed.
- Have a second player destroy the bed.
- You will now be invisible and floating. You can kill while invisible, but you cannot pick up or use items. Any items you drop will be lost.

Invincibility Glitches
Follow the steps below to become invincible.
- If you are in survival mode, get 35 diamonds and a friend to help you. If you are in creative mode, get full diamond armor, a dispenser, and a weapon.
- Put your armor in the dispenser. Do not close the dispenser menu.
- Have your friend break the dispenser.
- Put on your armor.
- Enter the camera mode where you can see the back of your character’s friend, and have your friend attack you.
- Your armor will disappear, but you will be invincible and can go wherever you want.

Duplicate Items Glitches
To duplicate items, follow the steps below.
- Have one player open a dispenser and put an item in it. Do not close the dispenser menu.
- Have a second player destroy the dispenser.
- The item in the dispenser will break into 64 pieces. Press X to place each of these items. If you press Y, there is a chance the items will disappear instead.

Music Discs Hints
If you want to get music discs, the best thing to do is to arm yourself with a bow. At night, find a Skeleton and a Creeper and get them together. Shoot the Creeper twice. The Skeleton will then be able to kill it with a single blow, and there will be a music disc at the spot where the Creeper died.

Fighting Hints Hints
When fighting Zombies, Skeletons, and Spiders, the best strategy is to use a sword and dogs. However, if a dog fights a Spider alone, the Spider will win. Stay close to cats to protect yourself from Creepers. Even untamed cats will help. When fighting Enderman, keep in mind that it is harmed by water.

If you take a dispenser and shoot a fire charge through water, it will slow down the fire charge just enough for you to see it fly through the air.

Zombie to Villager Hints
Get a zombie villager and put it in a cage to were you can hit it but it can’t get out.
Then get a ‘Splash Potion of Weakness’ and a golden apple. Throw the potion on the zombie and then use the golden apple on it. It will take about 2 minutes but the zombie will turn back into a villager.

Lots of TNT!! Cheats
Wanna know how to get lots of TNT? Simply fill a dropper with 64 TNT in each slot, then put a lever on top and pull it. WOW!!! Then you get 576 TNT! AWESOME!!! It’s useful for blowing up stuff. 😀

Cool alternative way to craft TNT! Easter Eggs
Is normal TNT not good enough for you? No problem! By crafting it like THIS, you can get 20 times the explosion force as default TNT. Also autokills players with full netherite armour!!

How to do Duplication Codes
Put the items you want to duplicate in your inventory and make sure auto save is on. Also have a chest ready.
Then you want to turn off autosave and put it right back on. Then put the relevant items in the chest and hold the Xbox Guide/PSS button and force close the application.
Then re-enter the world and the items will be in your inventory and in the chest.

Unlimited Obsidian Duplication Codes
On survival make a nether portal and go to the nether. Get someone to join your game and break a block out of the portal (in the overworld) then go back through the portal (in the nether).
This should spawn a new portal near the previous portal. Do this as many times as you want.
If you do it a lot there should be nether portals everywhere (not everywhere, but you know what I mean).
Now break all the obsidian from the broken portals. You should have a lot of obsidian by now (depending on how many portals you spawned in).
Now you can use this obsidian for whatever you want (enchantment tables are a wise choice).

Obsidian Diamonds Failures
Go on creative. You will need these things: redstone, lever, TNT, obsidian, and one diamond.
- Then you change it to survival and make a three by three obsidian square 3 blocks high.
- Make a line of obsidian from you to the square.
- Put redstone all the way to the square and put a lever on your end.
- Put a chest in the square of obsidian and put the one diamond in it.
- Put one block of obsidian over the chest and then put TNT over that.
- Then BOOM!!!!! You have multiple diamonds.

Block Placing Malfunctions
Make a block of diamond, iron, lapis, gold, or emerald and place it down.
Break it and right away place it back down, and then the block will duplicate.
Then go back to your personal crafting table and convert them back.
You can’t use the other crafting table otherwise your block will disappear.

Unlimited Nether Quartz Failures
If you set up a normal survival Minecraft world, you must go to the nether (after building the portal) then gather any recourses (nether quartz, glow stone, etc).
Then go back to the over world. Exit and save then go back onto the world after «resetting the nether» on the world options. Go into the nether.
You should still have all of your previous recourses, but the blocks you mined ( nether quartz ore, etc.) should still be there.
Mine it again and repeat until you have enough resources!

Dragon Killing for Experience Tips
First kill the dragon and then go to the stronghold and throw the dragon’s egg.
This way the dragon will respawn. Then copy your world from the PSN/Xbox save files.
Then you should delete the original world and enter the copy.
You will find the dragon again with everything you had!

- Two players must get 30 diamonds from a cave EACH
- Get 4 pigs
- Put a saddle on all 4 pigs

Invisibility Faults
To turn invisible, follow the steps below.

- At night, get in the boat.

Invincibility Faults

- If you are in survival mode, get 35 diamonds and a friend to help you. If you are in creative mode, get full diamond armor, a dispenser, and a weapon.
- Put your armor in the dispenser. Do not close the dispenser menu.

- Put on your armor.
- Enter the camera mode where you can see the back of your character’s friend, and have your friend attack you.
- Your armor will disappear, but you will be invincible and can go wherever you want.

Music Discs Tips
If you want to get music discs, the best thing to do is to arm yourself with a bow. At night, find a Skeleton and a Creeper and get them together. Shoot the Creeper twice.
The Skeleton will then be able to kill it with a single blow, and there will be a music disc at the spot where the Creeper died.

Fighting Hints
When fighting Zombies, Skeletons, and Spiders, the best strategy is to use a sword and dogs. However, if a dog fights a Spider alone, the Spider will win. Stay close to cats to protect yourself from Creepers. Even untamed cats will help. When fighting Enderman, keep in mind that it is harmed by water.

Zombie to Villager Tips
Get a zombie villager and put it in a cage to were you can hit it but it can’t get out.
Then get a ‘Splash Potion of Weakness’ and a golden apple. Throw the potion on the zombie and then use the golden apple on it. It will take about 2 minutes but the zombie will turn back into a villager.

Today we will tell you how to get all the blocks for the desired building, spawn the desired mob, change the weather in Minecraft and much more bypassing game conventions.
How to enter cheats in Minecraft 1.17
The role of cheats in the game is performed by console commands that must be entered into the chat. To open a chat, press the key T or / on the keyboard, and then enter the desired combination in the field (their list can be found just below) and press Enter . If the field does not appear, then your console opens to some other key. You need to go to the settings and find out which character should be pressed to enter cheats (you can change it there).
You need the item «Enter command» or «Console» in the English version.
Cheat mode Creative
In addition, you can immediately start the game in a special mode called «Creativity». In this case, you will receive an infinite number of resources and will not be able to die, and you will destroy any blocks with one hit.
