Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos is a fantasy themed real-time strategy game with role playing elements set on the world of Azeroth. After the defeat of Orcish horde at the hand of the Alliance in the second war and the destruction of the Dark portal, the remaining orcs were rounded up and put in internment camps. The game starts with the Orcs being freed by a new warchief from their internment camps and leave for a new continent across the sea. The Humans are troubled by a mysterious disease that turns people into living dead. Meanwhile the undead are preparing for a way to let their Demon masters enter the world of Azeroth.

The game features five campaigns and four playable races: Humans, Orcs, Night Elves and Undead with unique units and buildings. Several heroes that can level up and learn new skills support your troops in battle. The game was followed by an expansion called The Frozen Throne.

Here is a continuation of the old real-time strategy called Warcraft 2 from Blizzard, although you probably, like most players, have not even played Warcraft 2. Warcraft 3 Reign of Chaos is one one of those few games in history that just turned the whole real-time strategy genre upside down. The usual units, buildings, resource extraction remained, but heroes were added to all this — these are special combat units that have their own abilities, and most importantly, fighting in battles, defeating the enemy, they gain experience, which in turn develops into a new one. hero level, that is, your hero begins to gain levels and becomes stronger.

This element is called RPG, of course, this is not the usual RPG, where the whole game is dedicated to one character and the whole world «revolves» around him, but the part where the hero becomes more experienced over time interested the developers of Warcraft 3 Reign of Chaos . Blizzard took this idea and added it to their strategy, the result exceeded all expectations, both by the developers themselves and by ordinary players.

The plot continues and events begin after the actions of Warcraft 2, in addition to modern 3D graphics at that time, there were many innovations, dozens of new units, buildings, technologies, heroes and much more were added. The plot itself is worked out in detail, interesting characters, dialogues, every little thing is thought out and they all unite the huge living world of Warcraft.

Four big campaigns give you the opportunity to fully immerse yourself in the world of Warcraft and follow in the footsteps of history for each race, the campaign is really exciting, original plot twists, unpredictable actions of heroes and much more, you just have to go through a couple of tasks and you will probably want to know how it all ended. If you’ve had these feelings while playing Warcraft 3 Reign of Chaos, then Blizzard has achieved its goal by 100%.

Two new races have been added to Warcraft 3 Reign of Chaos: Undead and Night Elves. Each race has 3 unique heroes, they have special abilities and can fight several opponents at once. The whole game is built on this, using heroes is a prerequisite for waging an effective war with the enemy. The second global addition to the game was the introduction of neutral units and neutral buildings, these are independent creatures that attack everyone, regardless of your race, «political views :)» and your skin color. These neutral units drop useful items, and for killing them your hero gains experience. This is the second «mandatory element» in the game, of course you can not kill neutral units, but then you will give your enemy a great advantage.

Speaking of neutrals, you can’t even remember a game that had something like that. No, there are neutral monsters in different games, but they do not play such a high role as in Warcraft 3. In Warcraft, there is a battle not only between players, but the players themselves are fighting for loot from neutral units. This is very interesting to watch, especially when you meet an enemy fighting with neutral units, this situation is clearly not in his favor. With the above, I want to once again emphasize the special importance of neutral combat units in the game, since a lot depends on them.

The game was released in 2002 and was very popular, the material on this game was written in 2012, it’s been 10 years since the launch of the game and still there are some loyal fans who play it, but there is not much point in playing the old expansion, since in 2003 a new addition to Warcraft 3 The Frozen Throne was released, which made various changes in balance, units, heroes, etc.

Yes, and it was a logical continuation of the RoC plot, if you haven’t even gone through the Reing of Chaos campaign, then I advise you to definitely go through, at least to get acquainted with the main plot of the game, otherwise the players don’t even understand where exactly these or other heroes came from, units, events. Unfortunately, players no longer play against each other in Warcraft 3 Reign of Chaos, and it doesn’t make much sense, since there is a newer expansion that players are still playing.
