Welcome to our Hunter leveling guide. Here you will find all you
need to know to level up your Hunter efficiently. In addition, you may wish
to check out our general Leveling guide,
complete with detailed information on XP, mounts, addons, consumables, tips, and
more. We encourage to read it to increase your leveling speed even more.
Hunters have always been one of the strongest leveling classes, and one of
the strongest specs for soloing difficult content. Their pets can be their own
personal tanks, and they have many tools that make combat easier and more fun,
on top of being one of the more mobile classes in the game.

Best Leveling Spec for Hunter in Dragonflight
We recommend Beast Mastery for most of your Hunter Leveling needs.
This is because its pet does a lot more damage, allowing it to sustain itself
via the Leech it brings, and therefore letting you make larger pulls and fight
more dangerous enemies with no trouble. Just make sure that you keep
Growl enabled when out in the world, and disabled in
dungeons!

Both Marksmanship and Survival are decent leveling specs as well, but
Marksmanship
suffers in particular from being rather slow to play, on top of having the
weakest
pet of all the specs, meaning you will have to do a lot of the tanking
yourself.

Ability Unlocks for Hunter Leveling in Dragonflight
You unlock your first ability of interest at Level 3.
Essentially all of your Ability Unlocks while Leveling as a Hunter in
Dragonflight are from the Talent System.
Starting at Level 10, you will start
gaining 1 talent point per level, alternating between gaining a point in your
Class Tree, and your Spec Tree. On our dedicated spec leveling guides above, you
can find our recommended Talent Tree builds, and therefore the best abilities to
unlock.

Best Heirloom Items for Hunter Leveling in Dragonflight
When purchasing Heirloom Items for Leveling in general, we recommend
picking the Heirloom items that have the highest amount of Haste possible.
Haste speeds up the spec in almost every way, allowing you to quickly breeze
through your rotation, and move on to the next mob more quickly.
Haste is also useful for being a little bit quicker to tag mobs around you.
A split second can make the difference between you getting a tag, or losing
it to another player.

Leveling Priests in Dragonflight
Healing Priests are in high demand for dungeon groups and raids, both for their healing and added utility. Many people who choose to level as Priests create at least a secondary spec as a Healer to get into dungeon groups faster, although Shadow Priests are welcome to join as DPS.
It’s just that there is far more competition for DPS slots, since DPS classes/specs far outnumber Tanks and Healers.
Priests were opened up to all races except Dracthyr with Dragonflight Patch 10.0. This adds Priest as an option to Orcs and Highmountain Tauren, which did not previously have these as an option.
Strengths and Weaknesses of Priest Leveling in Dragonflight
Priests have one Class tree that applies to all Priests, and three Specialization trees for Discipline, Holy, and Shadow. Discipline and Holy are both healer specs, although Discipline combines more proactive healing with damage output as part of its toolkit. Shadow is a DPS spec relying on a unique spender called Insanity.
Priest is not a beginner-friendly class, mostly due to fairly complex rotations that can be unforgiving of mistakes. Priests in general are hampered by low mobility and the attendant problems with active kiting.

While you can level successfully as any class, some talent builds are more friendly to leveling than others.
If you’re planning to level in a group, what talent spec you pick will matter less, as there are more players to fill in for weaknesses. These recommendations are our class writers’ picks for most efficient leveling builds in all types of play.
Best Leveling Spec for Priests
Even with some nerfs to multi-dotting in Dragonflight, Shadow remains the preferred leveling spec for Priests. It’s not the safest build due to a lack of defense mechanics and fewer self-heals, but the damage output is great and it’s still quite a bit faster than the other two Priest specs. Beginners may find the complex rotation and the need to manage Insanity a challenge.
Both Discipline and Holy can be decent leveling specs, although Discipline has more damage tools at its disposal and is a faster leveling build. Both have the advantage of being able to flex into dungeon healing, where healers will have less trouble finding groups than the more numerous DPS classes. Keep in mind that dungeon queues may not be quite as quick, especially early on in the Dragonflight expansion; the addition of the Preservation Evoker class will claim some of those spots, at least until the novelty wears off.

Leveling Discipline Priests
Traditionally, healers are poor levelers, but Discipline’s focus on healing through dealing damage makes them the exception to this rule. Discipline doesn’t do as much damage as the Shadow Priest but has far better self-healing ability and survivability. It also doesn’t do as much single-target damage as Holy, but they are better equipped for handling groups of mobs. Since your damage heals you and allies in the process, it’s actually a very viable spec for leveling.

Leveling Holy Priests
Holy Priests are not fantastic levelers, but it’s a doable spec with a decent mix of damage and survivability. This will be slow compared to the other Priest specs. They still fare better than Healers in other classes, but it’s probably better to level Shadow or even Discipline unless you plan to group for much of your leveling time.

While Shadow is the recommended leveling spec, it is not as fast as other classes and not for the faint of heart. The big damage comes with some risk; Shadow has decent self-healing but not as strong as the dedicated healing. They do better taking out small groups of 1-3 rather than doing the big AoE pulls without help of a couple longer-cooldown abilities.

How to Export and Import Talent Builds
To export a build from Wowhead, go to the provided tree and click Export Talents in the upper right corner of the talent build. This will copy the appropriate string to your clipboard.
If you want to save that talent string to import later, you can copy it to a text editor such as Windows Notepad or Apple’s TextEdit.
To import a build into your character, open your character’s Specialization and Talents window (N). In the bottom left corner over the tabs, select the dropdown and select Import. (Starter Build is provided for you by Blizzard, but it’s not optimized for a particular activity).
Copy that long string from your Export in the Import Text window, name your loadout, and click save. (A loadout is a set of pre-selected abilities where you can save a set of abilities and talents. This lets you switch specs on the fly for different roles or different purposes, such as raiding, dungeons, or even low-level transmog farming. It’s up to you!).
As a bonus, creating loadouts also saves any Action Bar setups you have for that spec, so you can set it up the way you like and return to that configuration when you switch specs.

Best Leveling Gear for Priests in Dragonflight
Priests can equip the following gear:
- Armor Type: Cloth
- Usable Weapons: Daggers, One-Handed Maces, Staves, Wands
Priest weapons are really stat sticks; you don’t actually use them to strike anything, except at the very lowest levels as a desperation move (or occasional amusement).
Weapon DPS does not matter one tiny bit, since it contributes nothing to your overall damage. You are looking only for the main stat (Intellect) and secondary stats, nothing more. Daggers and Maces frequently do not have Intellect, so look at them carefully before equipping. Staves generally do, but some are specced for melee combat, so don’t automatically choose a Staff without looking first. Enchants that only proc on melee hits are useless to you. While Wands can be semi-useful at the very lowest levels (below level 25 or so) for shooting enemies, it’s only a desperation move that you rarely need to resort to anymore. Pick weapons only for stats, period.
Priests can use an Offhand for extra stats with a one-handed weapons, but cannot use Shields.
Much of the time while you’re leveling, you’ll be gathering and upgrading gear as you go. You usually do this with a mix of quest drops, dungeon drops, and profession crafted gear.
Gear iLevels for Dragonflight
In Dragonflight, your first gear from quests will be Uncommon items between iLevels 202 and 226.
This means if you have geared up using catch-up mechanics from Pre-Patch and/or through raid and Mythic+ in Shadowlands, it might be several levels before you start replacing gear. For example, at level 65, you can get Uncommon quest items, drops, and quality crafted gear at around iLevel 289; this should give you an idea of the approximate level range at which you’ll replace gear. All quest and dropped gear items can also upgrade randomly to either Rare or Epic quality, and some crafted gear can be created with higher quality as well.
Although you can start leveling in Dragonflight with an iLevel as low as 150, we recommend a minimum iLevel of 180, which is realistic and easy to get with little to no extra effort. You can get into a good iLevel range with a combination of dropped gear in 10-60 zones, heirlooms, and crafted gear from the Auction House. You will want a higher iLevel if you wish to start early with dungeon leveling.
Best Leveling Professions for Priests in Dragonflight
Most veteran players will have established professions and will wish to level these in Dragonflight.
However, bear in mind that while professions are much deeper and richer in Dragonflight than they’ve been in past expansions, they are also more complicated, requiring a greater investment in time and effort to develop.
Players can have a maximum of two professions. All players can pick up the secondary skills Cooking and Fishing. First Aid was removed as a separate skill in Battle for Azeroth and is now part of the Tailoring profession.
For manufacturing professions, Priests often choose Tailoring to make armor for themselves and to sell through the Auction House and Crafting Orders. This is commonly paired with Enchanting, rather than a gathering skill, since you can disenchant unwanted Tailored items for materials. Again, it’s probably best to concentrate on leveling these once you’ve reached maximum level.
For players who don’t have professions, we strongly recommend picking up two Gathering professions. At higher levels of Knowledge and Specializations in Dragonflight, you will also gain benefits.
Both Mining and Herbalism still provide small amounts of experience for gathering nodes.
- Skinning — with 20 points in Harvesting specialization, you get a bonus for your knowledge of anatomy to increase your damage against beasts and dragonkin while outdoors in the Dragon Isles.
- Herbalism — When you learn the Mastering the Elements specialization, you learn to Overload Elemental herbs (Windswept, Frigid, Titan-Touched, and Decayed), which allows you to channel energy into elementally-charged herbs for unique bonuses and effects. You must invest many points both into Mastering the Elements and into the four elemental herb types to get full effects.
- Mining — When you learn the Mastering the Elements specialization, you learn to Overload Elemental herbs (Molten, Hardened, Titan-Touched, and Primal), which allows you to channel energy into elemental deposits for unique bonuses and effects. 1. How long does it take to level up to level 60 in WoW Classic?
On average, it takes about 12 days or more of active game time to level up a character to level 60. If you want to start mastering high-level content as quickly as possible, carefully read everything that is written below. Many people think that there is not much point in high-speed pumping, but if a quick result is still important to you, you can save some time by using our tips. nine0007
2. Optimize your quest flow
WoW Classic quests are non-linear, so you should plan your travel route in advance. In some cases, the text of the task does not give a direct answer to the question of where to go. If you encounter this problem, ask your friends or read the comments on Wowhead Classic. If you have taken several tasks in a certain city, first complete all the tasks, and then go turn them in so as not to waste time running around.

3. Minimize travel time
Most of the «excess» game time is usually spent moving the character from point A to point B. Try to spend as little time as possible on moving and get the most out of each trip (or dash). Health, mana, rage and energy try to turn into experience, killing monsters along the way. Moving with a full supply of resources, you miss out on opportunities, including those from passive regeneration.
4. Use the Return Stone
When you arrive at a new location, find the owner of the tavern and take the Stone of Return from him. In the classic version of the game, the Stone of Return can be used once per hour, and this is very beneficial despite the large cooldown. The Stone of Return is a valuable resource, however many players ignore it. Watch the cooldown and be sure to use the stone if it is available.
5. Earn gold
When leveling up, players often complain about the lack of space in their inventory and bank. Be sure to get an additional banker character and mail him items that you might need someday.
The banker can store BoE equipment, materials for professions, and so on. Unnecessary items can be auctioned off (using the same character). Do not sell items to merchants that other players may need and therefore bring you extra money. nine0007
6. Forget professions for a while
Leveling professions at the same time as leveling your character is fun and interesting, but very time consuming. The exceptions are skinning, mining, and herbalism. Professions aimed at crafting items also require financial investments and being in the city in AFK mode. First aid is required for all characters, regardless of race and class, but cooking and fishing are best pumped at the maximum level. nine0007
7. Plan your vehicle purchase
At level 40, any character can purchase a vehicle with a 60% speed bonus. Be sure to accumulate the required amount by this time (90 gold). When leveling, try not to waste your gold — don’t pay the trainer for abilities you don’t use, don’t buy items from the auction at inflated prices, and so on.
When you reach level 30, remember about the upcoming purchase and save wherever you can. The running speed is low, and the locations in the classics are large, so it’s impossible to play for fun without transport. nine0007
8. Quests in the dungeons
When leveling, pay special attention to the quests that lead to the dungeons. Before searching for a group, try to collect all the available tasks so that you do not have to go again. From the point of view of the time / experience ratio, pumping in dungeons is inefficient (especially if you take into account possible wipes and other misunderstandings), but there are a lot of experience tasks (in some cases, two or three tasks give a whole level at once). Some dungeon quests are part of long storylines and involve long journeys across locations and continents. If you want to level up as quickly as possible, it is better to refuse such tasks. The most profitable tasks for pumping are performed in the following dungeons:

The correct selection of equipment will slightly increase the leveling speed, but you should not attach too much importance to it — for example, go to the Deadmines ten times to get the Charcoal Staff. For the same time that you spend on the Deadmines, you will pump the character to a level where you no longer need the staff. However, if you’re playing a melee character, be sure to find yourself a good weapon (you can get it as a quest reward or buy it from the auction if funds allow). You should also remember that all classes and specializations require such a characteristic as a spirit. Spirit increases mana and health regeneration outside of combat, and the higher the speed, the less often you will have to eat / drink to restore strength. 10. Talents and optimal specializations
In the classics, character specialization is of great importance. By choosing the right specialization, you will save a lot of time! If your character belongs to a hybrid class, level up in the fighter specialization, even if at the maximum level you plan to become a healer or a tank.
At low levels, hybrids (such as Fury Warriors or Shadow Priests) can successfully tank or heal in dungeons without changing talents. When choosing talents, give preference to options that:
- increased movement speed
- increase the speed of resources
- Give bonuses to accuracy and critical shock
increase the maximum resource stock of
. for each of the three specializations. Abilities are taught by class trainers that are located in large cities. However, if you run to the trainer every two levels, you will waste too much time. In addition, some abilities are not used at all when leveling, and there is no point in learning them. 1. Introduction
After the Cataclysm, the process of character leveling became much easier. The game has quests that you can take when you enter the game. Characters who give out quests in the usual way are now located much more conveniently than in the classics, and the entire story of the location unfolds in stages and logically. Before the Cataclysm, things were different.
WoW Classic lacks the usual clusters of quests in large cities, and some storylines can only be discovered by chance. Even if you complete all the tasks in a location of a suitable level, this does not guarantee you enough experience to move to the next location. It is possible that you will have to get the missing experience by killing the first monsters that catch your eye.
In this guide, we will talk exclusively about the representatives of the Priest class and how to level up to level 60, which is optimal for this class.

2. Quest process changes
If you haven’t played the classic, you should know that the quest process in it is very different from that in BfA and previous BfA expansions:
- the objectives of the quests themselves are not displayed on the map. You will have to explore the world on your own. If you do not know where to run and what to do, read the text of the task or visit a third-party site with tips from other players. Most likely, in the future there will be addons that will facilitate pumping, but it is worth remembering that — this is independent research — it is an integral part of the classic version of WoW. nine0018

Priests usually experience serious difficulties when leveling alone, so we recommend that you find yourself a partner (or several at once) — for example, a warrior, a robber or a mage. - Completing all tasks in a location does not guarantee you the level required to move to another location. 3. Where is the best place to upgrade a Priest in WoW Classic?
Finding the right quests is an adventure in itself, but if you’re looking for the easy way, here’s a list of the most profitable leveling locations (for both factions):
Alliance only
- Darkshore (11-19) : After completing the quests at the starting location of your race, you can choose the next destination of your choice.
For the Alliance, the most profitable low-level location is Darkshore. nine0018
- Loch Modan (10-18) : Loch Modan is located in the heart of the Eastern Kingdoms, and therefore more suitable for dwarves and gnomes. There are fewer quests in Loch Modan than in Darkshore, but they provide a fair amount of experience. If you wish, you can return to Loch Modan and at higher levels.
- Westfall (9-18) : Some players feel that Westfall is a difficult area and are slow to complete quests there. However, if you’re playing with friends and want to visit a low-level dungeon, head to Westfall and check out the Deadmines. nine0018
- Redridge Mountains (15-25) : This location is not rich in quests, so you will have to gain experience in another location that is designed for the same level. Be sure to plan your itinerary in advance.
- Duskwood (10-30) : This is one of the most popular locations in WoW.

- Barrens (10-33) : This is a very large area that contains three of the four races of the Horde. In the Barrens, you can easily level up to level 20. Get ready to compete for monsters and resources.
- Silverpine Forest (10-20) : Silverpine Forest is a kind of Forsaken Barrens. There are interesting tasks in the forest, but after the Steppes, few people come here.
- Stonetalon Mountains (15-25) : The location is considered Horde, but it also has quests for the Alliance. The Stonetalon Mountains are located next to the Barrens, and the level ranges in these locations overlap. nine0018
Contested Locations
- Hillsbrad Foothills (20-31) : Hillsbrad Foothills is home to the infamous Tarren Mill, the main battleground between the Horde and the Alliance.
- Ashenvale (19-30) : This is another location where two factions meet. Here is the famous battlefield, Warsong Gulch.

- Stranglethorn (30-50) has the largest level range for leveling (from 30 to 50).
- Wasteland (30-39) : The Wasteland contains the Maraudon dungeon, as well as NPC settlements with quests for Horde and Alliance players.
- Arathi Highlands (30-40) : This location contains another battlefield, Arathi Basin. There are also quests for the Horde and Alliance.
- Badlands (36-45) : This location is mostly for Horde players. If you are playing with friends, you can go to the Uldaman dungeon. nine0018
- Tanaris (40-50) : There is another dungeon in Tanaris, Zul’Farrak, where you can complete quests with good rewards.
- Feralas (41-60) : This is a very popular location. Players from both factions usually go there at level 40.
- Searing Gorge (43-56) : In Searing Gorge, you can feel the spirit of the first raid by looking at the monumental Blackrock Mountain. Quests for both factions are issued by the Thorium Brotherhood.
- Burning Steppes (50-59) : The Burning Steppes are located on the other side of Blackrock Mountain. This is another location with a wide range of levels, featuring both Horde and Alliance settlements, as well as quests leading to the dungeon.
