Game review WildStar
Wildstar — and now fast forward to the planet Nexus. Control is exercised by two factions: the Dominion Empire and the Exiles. There is a very interesting, and most importantly, a real ecosystem in the world. Someone can be eaten by someone bigger. Natural selection and all. If, for example, you are tired of herbivores and want to understand where all the predators are, then remember how it was you who exterminated all the predators. nine0007
Space, science
The game intertwines space and science, which is why the developers present you with 4 classes of characters for which you can try yourself: Scientists, soldiers, explorers and settlers. From the lips of the authors, one can single out for oneself a new “momentary” system regarding the development of the protagonist. With this system, the player can change the conditions around him, and the quests will be given different ways to complete them.
PvP and PvE
Let’s start with PvP, it is present in the game in a variety of ways: duels, arenas, battlegrounds, base defenses and free battles in the open world are implemented, so those who like to kick a soft spot will obviously not be bored. From the PvE component, one can single out thoughtful tasks that never repeat (except for daily ones), missions in groups, countless events, expeditions into space, and of course dungeons and raids.
About the developers
About the development team. Here it is worth paying attention to the fact that some of the authors are the developers of the great game World of Warcraft. No, don’t think that this somehow greatly affects something vital, it’s just that these people are part of the Carbine studio, in fact, they left a long time ago and have nothing to do with the Wow project. Also included in the creation of the game are other «cool» minds of video games, such as developers: Warhammer Online, Everquest and StarCraft. nine0007

Farewell, Wildstar — DTF games
Or how you can ruin a really good MMO.
6728
views
The game was good for many. The visual style is also her merit, in my opinion.
Yes, this news probably won’t get insanely active discussion, but my blogging cycle has shown that there are enough people interested in MMOs on the DTF, so I still feel the need to discuss the situation in more detail. nine0007
No matter how sad it may be, but the above-mentioned game, which has lived for 4 years, modest by the standards of MMOs (since June 3, 2014), is really being closed, and the development studio is waiting for dissolution. So why did it happen?
I played Wildstar, but I couldn’t get to at least a near-high level, so I got my complaints about the top content of the game from the comments of other users, including those on DTF. What I write below will be a summary in which I will include some of my thoughts on the subject. nine0007
Eh, I liked the Aurin race so much… Especially in combination with the Esper class, as in the picture.
For many, the fact of closing the game is still something inexplicable. More precisely, it is obvious that the game was closed due to low online and financial losses (which comes as a consequence of the first), but why did so few people play it? After all, many people said that they like Wildstar.
Unfortunately, the fact that you like the game does not mean that you play it, and a lot of people have had a similar situation. But then we begin to gradually make our way to the essence of what happened — what was wrong with the game? nine0007
The answer is extremely simple — the game has not adapted to the player over time. Wildstar was positioned as a hardcore MMO, and that same hardcoreness ruined it. For example, real players wrote that the same top raids were so difficult that you didn’t enjoy trying to pass them, it was too difficult — the players’ nerves, endless hours and in-game resources were wasted, but there was practically no return. I can say from my own bell tower that when leveling up the character, too, there was an excessive hardcore feeling, the levels were gaining indecently for a long time, which is why many, like me, simply did not have the patience to get to the cap. nine0007
And only now we have come to the real question, to which I personally have no answer — why didn’t the developers change anything? No, they had some attempts in this vein, don’t think about it. For example, initially the game was paid (by subscription), which did not suit everyone. Over time, the game was made shareware, which, of course, increased the number of players, but over time, the effect of this came to naught. The only thing that did not change much (although the players were not silent about this) remained hardcore. nine0007
In all this situation, it is frankly incomprehensible to me how such a giant of the MMO building as NCSOFT could not see this problem or see it, but do nothing at the same time. Yes, it’s enough to take a quick look at long-term competitors, such as World of Warcraft, to understand the simple truth — hardcore in MMOs should not be the basis, it should be an option. That is why WoW is still afloat, it adapts to an audience that no longer wants or cannot sweat in raids and swing for long months as it was before, but do not mind sometimes giving heat as part of some kind of «epic mode». Yes, hardcore players are constantly shouting, they say, they «casualized» and the like (apparently, they have such a habit of throwing disrespect to everything that becomes simpler), but after all, as a result, they have something to do. nine0007
The only thing that bothers me about the Wildstar characters is the proportions of their legs. Well, look at his feet — they are just terribly long!
The situation with this game, in my opinion, should be taken into account by all developers of MMO games. After all, no matter how good your project is, it will not live a long and happy life if you do not listen to your community and do not change the development vector, taking into account the opinions of your players. This single-player game cannot be just taken and shoveled, there they usually try to fix all the shortcomings in the game with the number «2» in the title or whatever it will be there in the series. But for MMOs, this approach, if it works, works extremely rarely, so it’s better to make one game, but make it for the players.
