Forza Horizon 5: How to Get Wheelspins
By
Jessica Orr
Wheelspins and Super Wheelspins are a great way to earn free cars, cosmetics, car horns, emotes, and Credits in Forza Horizon 5.
Wheelspins offer a free way to get random rewards in Forza Horizon 5 that can net players new and rare cars, Credits, cosmetic items, Emotes, and Car Horns. They’re a great way to build collections without grinding for money, and there are even some vehicles only available from a lucky spin.
There are a number of ways to unlock Wheelspins and Super Wheelspins in Forza Horizon 5, and it’s good to know exactly how to get them consistently to keep getting rewards while exploring the detailed Mexican map.
RELATED: Forza Horizon 5: How to Unlock Fast Travel
There are multiple ways to get Wheelspins in Forza Horizon 5:
- Spending Skill Points to get one from Car Mastery Trees.
- Reaching a new driver level.
- Buying them from the Forzathon Shop.
- Buying certain Houses.
- Buying Hotel Castillo for a daily Wheelspin.
- Festival Playlist Challenge rewards.
- Completing certain Accolades
- A reward for completing certain car collections.
The most consistent way to get Wheelspins is by leveling up, or unlocking them from Car Mastery Trees. Players will earn XP by participating in any type of activity in the game, so visit the «My Horizon» tab from the pause menu to make sure there aren’t any forgotten Wheelspins if players get too distracted by exploring the rest of the map in Forza Horizon 5.
Not every vehicle has a Wheelspin in its Car Mastery Tree, but many do, and it’s worth checking by going to the «Car Mastery» tile in the «Cars» tab. Skill Points are needed to obtain the Wheelspin. These are earned by earning points through a Skill Chain. Participating in Drift Zones in Forza Horizon 5 in a good drifting car is a great way of building Skill Points quickly.
Some cars even have Super Wheelspins in Forza Horizon 5. These should be prioritized over unlocking ordinary spins, as they contain better rewards, and there are three rewards gained from it instead of one.
Unlocking Hotel Castillo will gift players a free Wheelspin every day, but at 5 million Credits in Forza Horizon 5, it isn’t an easy way to get Wheelspins from the beginning, and it will take a while for the investment to start returning money back.
Be sure to check the «Accolades» menu from the «Campaign» tab in the pause menu to search for the symbol of a present beside completed tasks to claim rewards, which can include Wheelspins.
Forza Horizon 5 is out now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

Forza Horizon 4 super wheelspin guide: How to earn the biggest loot drops

When you purchase through links on our site, we may earn an affiliate commission. Here’s how it works.
Wheelspins are a real masterstroke in the Forza Horizon formula. Where the racing games of old would simply give you a fixed number of credits after each event, wheelspins turn the whole endeavour into an automotive gameshow where every chequered flag is a chance to either win big or curse the gods as the needle lands agonising inches away from giving you a Koenigsegg.
New to Forza Horizon 4, super wheelspins are exactly what they sound like: three spins in one. Three chances to walk away with a huge credits haul, three new hypercars, or—forced smiles at the ready—some new horns, gestures, and clothing items.
Unlike normal wheelspins, which you accrue every time you level your avatar up, super wheelspins are showered on you more sporadically. So in this guide we’ll break down exactly when and how they’re triggered, arming you with the knowledge to go out there and grind until you forgot there was a driving game underneath the Wheel of Fortune sim you now find yourself in.
Buy super wheelspins for 150FP at the #Forzathon Shop
This is the simplest method: a straightforward transaction in the #Forzathon Shop. If you’re wondering why you can’t see that yet, be aware that you need to play one complete season cycle before all game features become available. Seasonal events where you’ll earn FP, along with the store to spend them in, don’t pop up into your menu until you join the Horizon Festival in (spoilers) your second summer in the game.
150FP is a fairly steep price, so you’ll need to really mainline the Forzathon events if you want to grind super wheelspins this way. No getting distracted with solo races.
Buy houses
Here’s a new concept for the fourth Horizon: owning properties dotted around the map. Each house bestows a few little benefits on you once you buy it, and as you might expect the degree of those benefits scales up with the cost of the property. Lake Lodge costs 5,000,000 credits, for example, and permanently doubles all your FP earnings, speeding up your super wheelspin grind in one way. Derwent Mansion gifts you two super wheelspins off the bat for 1,500,000 Credits, so that’s another way to accrue them.
Check your messages for gifts
The first day Forza Horizon 4 launched, I saw a message from Playground Games pop into my inbox. It contained a gift of two super wheelspins, which is awfully nice. Sure, those wheelspins netted me two pairs of glasses, two horns, one car and a meagre amount of credits, but it’s the thought that counts. I guess.
Consistent with Forza Horizon 3, you’ll see these messages pop up from time to time. It might be to celebrate an in-game event, apologise for server downtime, or just to keep you interested. In any event, worth checking out.
Rake in the loyalty rewards
This one isn’t really an applicable grinding/cheesing tip, unless you’re really dedicated, but it’s useful to know.
Loyalty rewards are arranged in tiers, and you ascend the tiers by reaching milestones like hitting certain player levels, earning gamerscore, buying vehicles, and there are even a couple of bonuses for having played the previous games. Each tier from 2 to 12 grants you a super wheelspin, in addition to regular weekly income scaling from 25,000 Credits at tier 2 to 75,000 Credits at tier 13. It’s worth ascending the ranks, then.
Earn super wheelspins in My Horizon Life
Here’s where the real grind kicks in. My Horizon Life is a fancy name for a menu system which tracks where you’re at with Forza Horizon 4’s many, many event types, and you earn bonuses by ascending the ranks in these event types. Reaching level 5 in a certain discipline—road racing, for example—grants a super wheelspin, but you can also earn them by levelling up your car painting or tuning, explorer, car collector, speed trap, or any other of the myriad skills Fh5 keeps track of.
An alternative strategy
As exciting as it may be to stand before three spinning wheels, it’s perhaps a more effective strategy to focus on earning regular ol’ wheelspins. These happen every time you level up, and you can buy them with vehicle perks, too. There’s a double-whammy here: spend vehicle perks on a single car until it’s maxed out and you’ll level up really quickly in it, earning wheelspins at a faster rate. This was the old Forza Horizon 3 cheesing strategy: running that mega-long race around the island perimeter in a car with skill/speed boosts and a ton of perks. It appears that strategy still works in Britain for the new game.

Tuning in Forza Horizon 4 is an important part of the game that you will have to figure out if you want to get the most out of your cars. This guide will help you understand the basics of tuning. Forza Horizon 4 Guides tuning in Forza Horizon 4 — tires, gears, wheel alignment, sway bars, springs, ground clearance, aerodynamics, brakes and differential
A car is like a suit: it’s a great thing, but it only becomes beautiful when it suits your style. That’s why tuning is a great and rewarding activity in Forza Horizon 4. Adapting your car to your driving style will improve your performance. Our beginner’s guide will show you the most important sections for setting up your car.
Tires
First of all, the choice of tire type depends on what you want to use your car for: type of race, weather conditions, road surface and many other options. In most cases, racing tires are a great choice.
Optimal tire setup is critical for good grip when cornering and accelerating from the start line. Lower tire pressures allow them to heat up faster and can affect the overall responsiveness and handling of the vehicle.
Increasing the pressure may result in a slight increase in top speed and improved responsiveness, but the tires are more likely to suddenly lose traction. Be sure to experiment with tire pressures to find a good compromise.
Make sure you check your tire setup when changing race conditions in the game to control the temperature as it also depends on the weather and outside temperature.
Gear
The right gear settings will help you get the perfect start and top speed. A good setting to start with is the final drive setting. Change it so that all six gears are displayed in the picture in the lower right corner. Your sixth transmission line should end at the top right corner of the red line.
You should check if you want certain gears to have a larger or smaller range. Gear adjustment is a lengthy process that requires a lot of testing and depends a lot on the car you are using, your driving style and the type of competition you want to enter.
Transmission tuning can be unlocked by installing the Racing or Sport transmission upgrade on the vehicle. Vehicle gear tuning is a simple and effective way to achieve a trade-off between top speed and vehicle acceleration. A higher final drive will give your car impressive levels of acceleration, but this can result in a drop in top speed.
A lower final drive will increase the vehicle’s top speed, but may result in slow acceleration. If you want to improve your transmission, adjusting each gear ratio is the best way to get the best performance out of your car. It is important to strike a balance between high top speed and fast acceleration.
Wheel alignment
Wheel alignment affects the position of your tires. The steering angle decides whether the top of your tires will point towards or away from the car. The toe angle determines the same for the front of your tires.
The camber must be adjusted with a roadside tire inspection tool. When cornering, your camber should be near zero degrees and negative on the straight. For example, if you notice that your tires have negative camber when cornering, go back to the setup window and equalize the difference by adding positive camber. The convergence effect in Forza Horizon 4 is mostly negligible, but advanced tuners can use it to slightly reduce over and under agility.
Like tire pressure, the camber setting affects traction when driving in a straight line or when cornering. Negative camber reduces underhandling and increases traction during turns, but can make the car less stable in a straight line. Positive camber reduces oversteer but also makes the car unstable.
It is best to start with a small amount of positive and negative camber so that the tires are evenly aligned and then fine-tune to achieve the optimum setting.
Changing the toe often results in the car becoming more responsive when entering a corner. Toe-in increases the overall stability of the car, but can reduce cornering responsiveness. Toe-in increases responsiveness when cornering, but results in vehicle instability. It is best to avoid maximum in and out toe values to keep tire wear at an acceptable level.
Adjusting the castor angle increases straight-line stability — the perfect way to get a high-speed supercar. A high steering angle reduces negative camber, which improves vehicle acceleration and braking. A low angle means you may want to increase the negative camber to get an acceptable level of traction, otherwise the car will be very unstable.
Anti-roll bars
Anti-roll bars provide extra stability in turns and reduce body roll when cornering. Finding a good balance is important because a badly tuned anti-roll bar can greatly affect the car’s handling. Although each car has its own behavior that requires individual settings, there are a few rules of thumb that apply to almost every car.
Increasing the rigidity of the rear anti-roll bar will increase the excess agility. However, if the rear anti-roll bar is too stiff, it can cause the wheels to lift off the ground when cornering hard, which can result in a pretty spectacular crash. A softer rear anti-roll bar reduces over-maneuverability, which makes cornering easier.
We therefore advise you to set the front stiffness approximately 10 percent lower than the rear stiffness. Do not set the anti-roll bars too high or the machine may lift off the ground in some corners.
Springs
Making sure you set your springs correctly is one of the most important tasks. Springs control weight distribution during braking, acceleration and cornering.
Stiffer front springs carry more weight, but if the springs are too stiff, the tires can lose traction when heavily loaded. Soft front springs increase traction and reduce lack of maneuverability. If you make the springs too stiff, then when braking hard, the car may sink to the bottom.
As a general rule, it is desirable that the rear end be slightly stiffer than the front end to reduce excess maneuverability. 800 pounds front and 900 pounds rear are usually good settings to start with. From them you can already adjust the indicators for yourself.
Ground clearance
Adjusting the ride height not only makes your car look pretty cool, it also improves handling. The low ground clearance lowers the center of gravity and greatly improves handling. However, if you lower the vehicle too much, it may cause the vehicle to lower and lose control.
In Forza Horizon 4, you can set the ride height to near the minimum for street racing, improving cornering stability. If you feel that your car sinks too much on the bottom when turning, then raise it step by step. Off-road vehicles usually like to set up the other way around and try to ride almost at their maximum height.
Aerodynamics
Increasing downforce allows the car to have better contact with the road, heat the tires faster and improve handling. However, too much downforce creates excessive drag that reduces top speed.
But in Forza Horizon 4, this loss of speed is mostly negligible, so focusing on corners in general is a good choice. If you feel a sudden loss of traction, adjust the front a little lower than the rear and try again.
Brake
As you upgrade your vehicle, adjusting the brake balance is an essential part of improving brake performance. Proper brake settings are key to setting up your vehicle and should match your driving style. Changing the balance to the rear of the car increases rear axle drift but reduces stability.
Moving the balance to the front of the car increases front axle drift and increases stability. However, this can also lead to poor balance between the front and rear axles when braking.
Don’t add too much or your tires will lock up in all braking zones. For street racing, a value of 100 to 115 percent is a good start, while keeping the brake balance in the center. It is important to compromise with the brakes, otherwise your stopping distance may increase, which will slow you down during the race.
If you like to ride off-road, it is useful to shift the balance of the brakes forward, somewhere between 55 and 60 percent. Also, in this case, reduce the pressure to about 85 percent.
Differential
Differential setting greatly affects over- and under-manoeuvrability and your vehicle’s ability to accelerate. The differential adjusts the difference in the slippage of the left and right wheels. The more you lock the diff, the more your tires are forced to spin at the same speed. If you set it to less than 100 percent, then you will be putting more power to the wheel to get more traction, depending on how much the diff is unlocked. For front and rear tires, you can select how much tire lockup occurs when accelerating and braking.
More acceleration lock will allow you to get more power when exiting a corner. However, this also means that you will have to deal with more under-manoeuvrability. The rear differential is basically not as important as the front. Fully or almost fully unlocked rear wheels are a good way to improve traction.
The balance setting allows you to choose how much power you want to send to the front or rear axle. This allows you to decide whether you want your car to drive like front wheel drive or rear wheel drive. In most cases, it’s best to send more power back by setting the knob somewhere between 70 and 9.0 percent. Too much rear traction can result in loss of traction and excessive maneuverability.
Conclusion
There is no single guide to setting up the perfect machine, and each driver will have different preferences. Therefore, do not take all the information in this guide as the only right decision. Use these tips as a baseline. Then test and customize the car for yourself. Only a setting tailored specifically to your playing style will help you get the most out of your car.

Forza Horizon 4 Tuning Guide
Are you struggling to unlock the potential of your new drift car in Forza Horizon 4? In this guide, we will help you make the perfect tuning and turn it into real perfection.
So you’ve watched all the drifting videos on YouTube and purchased the drift car of your dreams in Forza Horizon 4. But when you got behind the wheel to start your racing career, things turned out to be quite different from what you imagined. Sounds familiar?
The default settings for a new car will most likely match those in real life, which means they are great for normal driving. And when a car isn’t designed specifically for the race track, manufacturers have to take into account a lot of parameters to make sure it performs well on the road.
While you may think that the standard car is perfect for your driving style, you will soon realize that you can lap much faster or perform a more impressive drift, and it is the standard setting that limits your potential.
In a video game, you can upgrade your car with the push of a few buttons, and Forza Horizon 4 is one of the most advanced tuning platforms out there. No matter how well you play Horizon 4 using the default car settings, there will always be someone online who can beat you because they have perfected their car.
It’s not just about the increase in engine power that can be achieved with upgrades. Tuning allows you to modify the car so that it perfectly matches any of your requirements.
Are you planning to build a car that will drift flawlessly through every corner while maintaining perfect traction, or do you want to set a new drift time record?
Or maybe you need a rally car to rush through the mountains and move around the map as quickly as possible? Or do you want to set a new highway speed record?
Tuning allows you to change every conceivable parameter, so once you understand how it works, you can tune your car perfectly for any challenge. In the new Forza Horizon 5, this guide will also help — the settings change slightly between games, and you do not have to learn everything again.
Preparatory phase
When it comes to car tuning, there are a number of factors to consider. There is no one size fits all setting. What is good for drifting is unlikely to be good for rallying, and vice versa. Here’s what you need to know before you take on your car.
Define your goals and intentions
There is no point in tuning, just wanting to get a «cool car». You need to have a clear idea of what you want from your car right away.
And now is the perfect time to decide whether it’s a super drift car, a cool racing car, a speedy highway projectile, a quarter mile racing legend, or a hill-smashing rally car.
Troubleshooting
Once you’ve decided what kind of car you want to build, the next step is to figure out what’s wrong with it at the moment. Maybe your drift car doesn’t have enough power to maintain a skid?
Or, for example, does it lack steering angle, causing you to turn around when trying to make a few difficult turns? Decide right away what needs to be improved in order to fix the main problems in the first place.
If you can’t formulate the problem yourself, don’t be afraid to google to figure out what exactly is wrong with the car at any stage of tuning. For example, queries like «car won’t skid» or «not enough power in third gear» will almost certainly lead you to a forum or Reddit thread explaining what to do.
Explore pre-built tuning options
The in-game store sometimes has a few great options right out of the box, but as you get better at it, you’ll likely end up tuning in to suit your personal preferences.
By now, you will realize that the preset car tuning options are, unfortunately, often useless. And since the contents of the settings file are locked, it is impossible to make even minimal edits.
There are many ready-made tuning options on various forums and Reddit, so you can find there, for example, “drift for 350Z” and simply implement them in your game, and then refine them yourself.
If you can’t find this option online, there are some great apps for Apple and Android smartphones to help you with this, such as ForzaTune and QuickTune. There are some great options out there to get you started, but to reach their full potential, we still recommend tweaking them.
Turn off the help
Before you start car settings, you need to configure the game itself. If your game settings are wrong, then even with the perfect car for drifting, it will be difficult for you to turn the car sideways.
Braking — ABS off.
For maximum control over the vehicle, it is best to disable the ABS. You can still use it if you want, but real drift cars rarely use ABS, so it’s a great way to improve your braking skills.
Turning off the ABS will also allow you to brake better with your left foot, which will be extremely useful when you start playing with friends and other players later.
Control — conventional
There is no right or wrong here, it all comes down to personal preference and most often it is conventional control. You can, of course, try to speed up the rotation of the steering wheel, but in most cases it will be more difficult to cope with drifting. It is worth trying both options to understand what suits you personally.
Traction control — off.
You definitely don’t need this. Some may use it in racing, but in drifting it will only get in the way. A driving assistance system that prevents you from skidding is the last thing you want.
Stability control — off.
Like the traction control system, it is strictly prohibited for drifting. For beginners, we do not recommend either one or the other, as this will greatly interfere.
Shifting — manual or manual with clutch
For beginners, it is recommended to always use only a manual transmission from the very beginning of the game. Those with driving or drifting experience can try a clutch-operated manual and see how comfortable it is.
You may think it’s pointless, but the clutch plays an important role in improving your drifting skills, and using it will make you a true pro over time.
If you are completely new to driving, you can try to start with an automatic, but this is definitely not the best solution. Manual mode is recommended to be used at all times because the automatic sometimes works weird and can leave you in the wrong gear.
Trajectory — optional
Decide for yourself whether this will be useful at first. The trajectory of the movement will not affect the course of the race. It just shows you exactly how the game advises you to complete the race track.
Remember that this is not necessarily the line you should be following during the skid, but for beginners it can give you an idea of how to calculate your speed in order to prepare for corner entry.
Tire damage and wear — optional
It’s all down to personal preference and plays a role more in long races than drifting.
Although the tire wear feature adds realism to the game, it overheats very quickly and you will often have to change them, which will lead to an unnecessary waste of time.
Rewind — Optional
With rewind enabled, you can turn back time after a corner entry error. If only real life was that easy!
Learn the Basics of Drifting
Look up drifting manuals to make sure you know the basics. Most likely, at first you will not succeed even with the perfect car. However, our guide will tell you step by step how to drift in Forza Horizon 4 the right way!
Tuning in Forza Horizon 4
Finally, let’s take care of the car. Now that you have decided what exactly you plan to do with your car, we will tell you how each element of tuning will affect it.
At first, the process may seem too complicated, but once you understand the basics, you will understand exactly what and how to do it for a comfortable ride. Here we will mainly focus on tuning for drifting, but we will discuss how the settings affect the behavior of the car as a whole.
Car selection
We hope that by now you have already decided on the car you plan to tune. It is worth choosing a car with a front engine and rear wheel drive, especially if you are a beginner. Of course, if you want, you can try to choose a car with a mid-/rear-engined layout, but be aware that they are often too fast and much more difficult to master.
Though it’s worth a try in the long run as some of the best drifting cars use a rear engine layout. But it takes a lot of time and knowledge to refine them.
Initial vehicle upgrades
Engine . For simplicity, choose all the «racing» modifications, but resist the temptation to chase the maximum possible power — 400-600 hp. will be more than enough.
Chassis and control. Recommended for all racing suspension upgrades.
Transmission . Here, too, all racing upgrades are needed.
Tires and wheels . Choose sports for more powerful cars and street for cars with a weaker engine, but do not buy kits for racing. Fit the widest tires possible to the rear wheels for optimal grip, but keep the front tires as wide as possible, or increase by one level if you wish.
You may want to install large diameter discs, but this is not necessary, you can leave regular ones if you like their appearance.
Supercharging . Installing a turbo is up to your personal preference, but for beginners, a powerful naturally aspirated/base option is recommended.
Aerodynamics and appearance . Use what you think looks best, as drift cars are hardly affected.
Tuning
Now that you’ve got the necessary power and handling upgrades in place to make it easier to skid and maintain drift, it’s time to take the car for a quick test drive to see how it works.
At this point, it’s worth taking some notes on what you think could be improved so you know exactly what you want to focus on when tuning.
Tires — the less pressure they have, the more grip they provide. This is true for real life as well. When the tires are flat, they have more contact with the ground. And while some might suggest that high tire pressures are needed to reduce rear end grip, this is not the case unless you are running a low powered vehicle.
Normally, the default setting is based on the traction required for optimum handling. However, too much road traction makes drifting difficult. The optimal tire pressure for traction is 2.2 bar in warm weather. For drifting, we usually set 1.7 bar on the rear wheels and 1.9 bar on the front. With a powerful engine, these figures should rise to the optimum level, about 2.2 bar after warming up.
As soon as you start burning rubber on your drift car, the pressure rises, so we recommend that you monitor the telemetry while driving and make sure that it does not rise too high. If this happens, then you will most likely lose traction. So go back to the menu and adjust the settings.
The gears are often one of the hardest parts to set up. To get it right, you will probably have to go through a lot of trial and error. In drifting, the ideal technique is to keep the engine RPM high all the time without triggering the limiter cutoff, which will force you to slow down. In the cramped and narrow streets of the Horizon 4, 3rd and 4th gears will usually be optimal.
If during a test drive the needle approaches the red sector too quickly, the acceleration setting must be adjusted. Now go for a test drive again and see how the modified gear shifting works. Ideally, you want to keep the RPM around 1000 RPM at all times while managing the throttle and not getting into the red.
If you are lucky, the problem can be solved by adjusting the last gear. If not, each transmission will have to be customized to suit your needs. But do not make drastic changes, fine tuning is important here. Otherwise, after a while you will have to start all over again.
If you find that a gear is stuck in the middle of a skid and there is not enough power, pull the acceleration slider a little to the right to increase it. And if you get to the cutoff too quickly, then move it a little to the left. Gearbox tuning is a long process of trial and error that will require patience and take some time. Once this is done, you will quickly learn the perfect drift.
Camber/Toe — It’s very important to start with making sure your drifting suspension settings are selected. It doesn’t hurt to double-check this.
Camber — Both front and rear always set negative camber, never positive. Negative camber pulls the top of the wheel into the arch, which is exactly what a car’s wheels should look like. With positive camber, the top of the wheel will be pointing away from the car, and it looks terrible. Please don’t ever do that.
Negative camber is useful for keeping your car in a given direction, as well as traction when skidding, because it allows you to increase traction with the road surface when the front wheels are stationary.
Camber is also a fine-tuning. Try setting the front wheels to -5 degrees and the rear wheels to -2 and practice the test drive again. In replay mode, enable telemetry and check the camber while drifting your car. It is necessary to ensure that the angle is about 0 degrees, and the collapse does not go into positive zones.
Toe — The more toe in the front, the better for drifting, because it provides a more efficient steering angle. But keep in mind that it also makes driving more difficult when you’re not moving sideways, and can slow down drifting due to changes in the car’s steering angle.
It is recommended to set the toe on the front wheels to 2 or 3 degrees and then adjust it only if you feel that the car turns too much.
The rear wheels don’t turn, so it’s different with them. The more toe in the rear, the more drift and the longer the rear end slides, and this will help to achieve high results in drifting. Try starting at an angle of about 1.5 degrees. For paired races, it is better to use 0-0.5 degrees, since accuracy is more important here.
Front castor — front castor adjusts the position of the suspension strut. The more the slider is moved to the right, the more stable the car is, however, if you turn the setting down, the car will become sharper in control.
For starters, you can set it at 7 degrees — this is the most stable and predictable position. You can further customize it according to your preferences.
Cross stabilizers — It is usually recommended to install a soft stabilizer in front, and then gradually increase the rigidity until the result is perfect.
The softer the rear stabilizer, the more grip, so it’s also a good idea to start as soft as possible and increase stiffness if you find the grip too strong.
Springs — they are very important when the speed or direction of movement changes during a skid. If your springs are too soft, the car can completely sag, so the meaning of their work is lost. When the springs are fully compressed, it is bad for both speed and stability.
On the other hand, if the springs are too stiff, they will not provide optimal weight transfer during corner entry, which will reduce the car’s skid. If the front wheels are slipping too much, try softening the front suspension — this simple fix often works.
Clearance — it is believed that drift cars should always be pressed to the ground, so it is recommended to underestimate it as much as possible. However, this isn’t always optimal for traction, so you can raise the suspension and make the springs a little softer if needed.
Many people prefer to use a higher front clearance to compensate for the weight of the engine when braking. You may have seen this on real cars and in other games.
Rebound damping — Rebound controls how your car handles sudden bumps in the road, which is of course not uncommon on British streets in Forza Horizon 4. Turning these adjustments will give you more control over bumps. To get started, you can take the rebound indicators from the finished setting.
Compression — For a basic setting, initially set the stiffness to 50-70% and fine-tune after test runs.
Aerodynamics — When drifting, you are unlikely to achieve speeds that require modifications to the car’s aerodynamics. But in theory, if you want to increase traction, then you need to increase the pressure on the rear of the car, and for control in a turn, on the front. Of course, if these features are available.
Brake — brake force balance depends on personal preferences in the optimal distribution of force between the front and rear wheels. Most drifters prefer a front balance as it allows the car to be thrown into a turn.
It is recommended to try different balance settings. Start with 100% front and work up to about 40% until you find what works best for you.
Pressure — With ABS off, higher brake pressure allows for more aggressive skid in and out, so we recommend trying values between 100% and 120% and choosing the one that best suits your driving style.
Differential — 90-100% is recommended for acceleration, which ensures skidding due to convenient and reliable wheel locking. Values below 80% should not be set.
Setting the brake too low can cause excessive weight shift and make the vehicle unpredictable as the wheels lock too slowly. This can cause the car to spin or fly off to the side.
With high values, the rear wheels will be securely locked even when you let off the gas. Start at 100% and gradually reduce the value to around 80-90% — you should feel that the car turns around and throws out of a skid due to too much engine power.
Conclusion
We hope this guide contains everything you wanted to know about in-game car tuning. A lot of work has been done to compile it. This included knowledge gained from many hours of playing, watching YouTube tutorials and checking their results.
Moreover, we have covered the general principles, so the guide, in essence, is also suitable for the new Forza Horizon 5, built on almost the same game mechanics. And if we missed something you’d like to know, let us know in the comments and we’ll be happy to update this guide.
