Google news on android how to turn it on or off
Google news on Android, now when you swipe left on the main screen of Android smartphones and tablets, you can view the news feed. If you bought a smartphone on Android 8, 9 and higher, then on one of the desktops on the left side you can view the news feed from Google.
I don’t know how much users liked it, but for me it’s not quite what I would like to see on the phone’s desktop. Google probably decided to become closer to the owners of mobile devices by embedding new services and without which a huge number of not always necessary applications are preinstalled. It’s good that the developers at least left the ability to turn Google news on and off on Android as needed by the user.
To disable or enable news in Google on Android , do the following:
— On the unlocked screen in any empty area of the desktop, press and hold a little until the menu appears.
— In the menu that opens, select the item «Home screen settings» with a gear. See the attached pictures below for highlights.
— Next, the home screen settings will open where we turn on or off «Show the Google app» when swiping left on the main screen.
I hope this article helped you disable or enable the news feed on your desktop when you swipe left.
Do not forget to leave a review and indicate the model of the device to which this method is suitable or not, so that other site visitors will have useful information from you.
— If on your Android the google news application is configured differently, then please share the information below in the reviews, perhaps the info left by you will be the most useful.

Those who have been using MIUI for a long time know what App Vault (or Widget Strip) is. It appears if you scroll through the desktop from left to right. There you can configure some widgets and shortcuts for quick access. Now, on new smartphones Xiaomi, it is replaced by Google Discover. This is a news feed and can be easily disabled. To do this, go to: Settings-> Desktop. Deactivate the Google Discover checkbox and that’s it!

How to Set Up Google Feed on an Android Device
When Google first released Google Now, it was raved about by Android users across the board. However, when changes to Google Feed took place, those changes were less accepted. But News Feed is great if you just take the time to set it up.
However, before we talk about customizing your feed, let’s first talk a little about what makes it different from Google Now, aside from the name. First, let’s get one thing clear right away: Google Feed/Google Now is part of the Google app.
For better or worse, Feed is an evolution of Now. It’s taken the best of Now and goes one step further — that’s actually what most people don’t like about Feed. Instead of scheduling your appointments and other important information, Feed focuses on the latest news you’re interested in on the home page, but everything related to personal information hasn’t disappeared — it’s just now in a different tab in the Google app.
This is admittedly a bit confusing. If you’re used to opening the Google app to see your cards in Now, but instead are presented with a variety of news that you might be interested in (or not), then you’ll likely want to delete it.
This is why you should spend some time on your feed, tweaking it to your liking. You can get the latest news about what you need with one click, or click one button and view important personal information.
How to access your Google Feed
First, there are several ways to access your Google feed. If you’re using a Pixel or Nexus device with the Pixel Launcher, then you can simply swipe all the way to the leftmost home screen and there it is, Google Feed.
However, if you are using a different device or launcher and the app is not built into it, then you will need to launch the Google app. If you’re using Nova Launcher, you can even customize the home button action on your home screen to launch Google Feed (which is still called «Google Now» in Nova).
How to set up Google Feed
Setting up Google Feed is very simple. There are several ways to do this, and we’ll talk about both.
To customize the Feed in Pixel Launcher and the Google app, open the feed and click on the three dots in the top right corner of an article and select Customize Articles.
In the Customize Ribbon menu, you can start adding your interests. Start by clicking the «Subscribe Topics» button.
You will be redirected to the category selection page: sports, TV shows, movies, musicians, etc. Click on one of them to continue.
You can view the offer list and click the «+» icon in the upper right corner to add it. Do this for all articles of interest in each category! The more time you spend choosing topics of interest, the better your feed will look.
You can also add specific topics without having to dig through different categories. Just click the magnifying glass in the top right corner, then search for a topic.
When you find your topic, simply tap the + symbol to add the topic to your list of interests.
Once you’re done with this, just click Done on the Interests page.
You can scroll through the Feed Settings page to view all topics you are subscribed to or unsubscribe from specific topics. This will give you a quick overview of all your subscriptions — just click the «Open Settings» button under each category to see the details.
The options available here may vary from category to category. For example, in the Sports category, there will be dedicated buttons for notifications, as well as highlights and more.
We encourage you to explore all the categories and spend some time customizing them to your liking. Remember, the more time you spend here, the better (and more useful) your feed will be.
Managing certain content in your feed
Since Google also uses your search history to build your feed, it will include the things you find interesting. So, let’s say you’re scrolling through the feed and you see news about Vladimir Putin. If you are interested in this topic and want more similar news, then click the button with three dots in the upper right corner of the card for this story, then click the «Subscribe» button.
Similarly, if you see something that you are not interested in, you can hide that particular article, block a particular website, or skip articles from that particular topic altogether. This is a pretty flexible setup.
If you accidentally delete a topic from your feed or flag something as «not interesting», you can return to the Feed Settings screen and then select «View all settings» for that category. At the very bottom, what you marked as «not interesting» should be displayed — just click the «x» next to it to remove it from the list of not interesting.
