The Room — Kapitel 1 — Ein Schlüsselloch taucht auf. Den passenden Schlüssel findet ihr auch.
Quelle: Computec Media

As soon as they learn to crawl and walk, they have already rushed to explore the world on their own, let go of our hands and strive to do everything without the help of their parents. But it is difficult for other children to be separated from their parents even for a few minutes, and it seems that they will never leave mom and dad alone, and will not be able to do anything on their own even after many years. Parents are sometimes ready to buy the newest fashionable and expensive toy in the hope that the child will be busy for some time, so long as they have the opportunity to take a shower or cook dinner without the participation of a small person. But toys either do not occupy the child at all, or give only a few minutes of freedom to parents, which are not enough even to go to wash. It seems that such children enjoy social interaction with parents or friends much more than the feeling that they can do exactly what they want to do. Including because they don’t know what else they can want if there is already a mom or dad nearby. But the fact that they are already ready and able to communicate with parents and / or children is also an important indicator of their developing mental maturity. nine0003

For some children, independent play is a learned skill, for others it takes extra time and parental help to learn. But it is a skill that is worth spending some effort to master. For example, so that in the future children not only play on their own with pleasure, but also do their homework, read, understand what they themselves are interested in in this life. If we or children create something without outside influence, then this helps us maintain our self-esteem. The ability to enjoy solitude not only develops the imagination, but also gives a sense of satisfaction from successful work and one’s life. nine0003

How to teach him?

If your baby finds it difficult to be alone even for a short time, then you can try to change this and make her more independent. For example, yes.

1. Before you send your child out to play alone, let him enjoy time with you. Play with him, read, spend time together so that he is «fed» with parental attention, then he can and wants to spend at least a few minutes on his own.

2. Children imitate adults. Sit down with a book and perhaps a cup of coffee or tea, inviting the child to also sit close to you with his picture book. Let the child see from your example that being alone with a book is interesting and quite exciting. Offer to play with dough/utensils/beans/stack food containers/cut salad in the kitchen while you prepare dinner. The child will be next to you, but busy with something of his own and important. Be sure to notice and celebrate his independence. nine0003

3. Start playing together. Prepare together all the necessary toys and materials, start a game plot, after a while invite the child to come up with what will happen next, listen carefully, let the child play it himself, and then do something without moving far from him. Later, ask to tell what happened without your participation, express your feeling of joy from what you heard. Sincere, of course!

4. Ensure safety. Children are creatures dependent on adults. They feel that adults can protect them under any circumstances, and often genuinely hate spending time apart from their parents. It is difficult for them to be alone, and everything seems unsafe. If you sent your child to play in another room, and you yourself look there every minute to make sure that nothing happened, then the children quickly receive confirmation that being alone is definitely dangerous. And by the way, this is not a standalone game. If you are very worried about the child, then it is better if he is in the same room with you, but each of you will be busy with his own business. nine0003

5. Give it a boost. Most children need a little push at the start to turn on their creative expression. Offer toys that the child likes and ask them to come up with a story with them. Say that they only have ten, maybe five minutes to start to come up with it, and then you would really like to hear it all. An hourglass can help here in regulating time. Then you can sit down together so that the child dictates the story, and you write it down. For many families, this becomes a favorite pastime, and children write entire books. nine0003

6. We move slowly and constantly support. It is hard to believe that a child will learn to play on his own in a couple of days, and will sit in his room all day long, leaving his parents alone. If before that he was not ready for a second to be without you, then congratulate yourself on every minute when he manages to do something on his own. Support the child, noticing that he is doing great on his own, be sure to indicate the details: “You built a very high tower today”, “Today you came up with such an interesting game about dinosaurs.” nine0003

If your child does not practice for more than a few minutes so far, this is also normal. Let’s start with everyone being comfortable. Independent play and time separate from parents should not be a punishment and horror, but a pleasure for both parties.

7. Be warned about leaving. If you decide to leave the room to take something or wash a plate, be sure to warn the child about this, saying that «you will wash the plate and come back quickly.» And be sure to do so. It is important for the child to know that your words can be trusted. It’s better not to use the «grandmother’s method»: leave before he notices. Even if you know for sure that the child will cry at the moment when you need to go out, it’s better than doing it secretly. Secret departures often become one of the factors that the child constantly anxiously controls the parents so that they do not disappear. Gradually, it will be easier for the child to let you go for a longer time, because he will feel that you are not disappearing anywhere and it will be easier for him to become more independent. nine0003

8. Learning moments can be everywhere — even a TV and a tablet can help us.
If the child spent time at the TV screen or with a tablet in his hands, and he was alone for some time, ask what he learned there, what interesting things he can tell you. Children like to feel important and competent, it is important for them to show that they know and can do something, and they can teach this even to their parents. This is how we encourage the independent skill of learning, learning something new. nine0054
But remember, the child’s time with the gadget, although it gives parents a chance to quickly do something without the participation of the child, does not count as a full-fledged independent game. For children, especially preschoolers, it is important for development to literally manipulate objects, involve the whole body in the process of playing, and this does not happen with gadgets.

9. Independent play does not develop from playing alone. In fact, independence is born … from interaction with others. Hours spent playing with dinosaurs, playing ball and hide and seek, playing mother-daughter with other children, will keep a child’s imagination alive during the times when he is alone. Playing with others, the child learns to talk, maintains dialogues between characters, develops patience when waiting for his turn in the game. These are the skills he needs to enjoy time with himself when you can’t (or don’t want to) entertain him and will help him run different good and bad role models of interacting with other people in his head. nine0003

10. If the child is busy with something himself, you should not try to give him some other toy or book that you think is more useful or interesting. We also don’t like being interrupted, and quite naturally get angry at it. Often, when children seem to be doing nothing, they develop some important skill for themselves, perhaps incomprehensible to us. One of the important and difficult parenting skills is to step aside and observe.

What to do with the heirs during the holidays? Of course, play with them — at the table, in the room, in the yard, in the park, in the car. We have collected the best games here

Together with Pavel Kudelin, a psychologist at the Responsible for the Future Foundation, we have come up with activities for you at home and on the street

Card games

1. UNO

You can play with a large company. It is convenient to take a deck of cards with you on a visit, on the road. Here and excitement, and attentiveness, and bluff, and a fairly fast pace. nine0003

Any age and any company. The rules are simple — it’s easy to explain them to everyone, you just have to lose the first time. The goal is to get rid of the cards. When the player has only one card left, he must say: «Uno!»

2. 7 by 9

Here you need to count and discard cards. The main thing is fast.

A great way to practice reaction and math.

3. Ratuki

Warm-up for the head. You need to play fast, look carefully, count correctly. But the game is simple, there are no complex calculations. The main thing is to respond as soon as possible. nine0003

4. Memory

Memory. The main thing here is to remember. Each card has a pair. The cards are shuffled face down. Each player must pick up a card and remember its location (only one card can be picked up in one move), so that later it can look for a pair and throw out both cards. Whoever throws more pairs (that is, who is more attentive), he won. The game perfectly trains visual memory.

5. Monopoly, Strongholds, Magic Cards

Don’t be alarmed, there are simpler versions of Monopoly for kids. But the Citadels are strategies, more complicated and with a plot. You need to build, destroy enemy buildings. Magic cards are the favorite game of many teenagers. If you want to get closer to your child, delve into the difficult rules of the game — you yourself will get involved, and you will definitely find something to do together.

6. Imaginarium

The game has many names, but the meaning is the same — to invent and feel. This is a simple and interesting game. Players need to come up with associations to unusual pictures on the cards, and guess what association your opponent might have. Imaginarium captivates, develops creativity and fantasy. nine0003

7. Scrabble

Or Scrabble. The names may be different. The idea is to make words out of letters. For each letter get points. The more letters, the more points. Increases vocabulary, teaches literacy. The rules are simple and clear.

Houses

8. Associations

Players are divided into pairs. Choose a theme for the game. For example, New Year. Everyone writes on a piece of paper some word related to the New Year. The papers are folded and lowered into the hat. First round of the game: Pairs go out in turn. One in a pair pulls out a piece of paper and tries to explain the written word to his partner. Any words, except single-root. You need a partner to guess in 20 seconds. When the papers run out, the pairs count the points. Papers — back in the hat. Second round: everything is the same, only you need to explain the words with gestures and facial expressions, silently. Also 20 seconds. The third round — the same words must be explained, pronouncing just one word. nine0003

9. Do you believe that…

The host says: “Do you believe that I…” then tells about some of his actions or any event. The task of the players is to guess whether he is telling the truth or lying. Who guessed — that point. Did not guess — a point to the leader. Everyone takes turns leading.

10. Never…

The facilitator says: “I never…” goes on to say what he has never done, like eating pineapple. All other players — who tried pineapple, bend 1 finger, who did not try too — do not bend a finger. If no one has tried, then the leader bends the finger. Those who bend all 10 fingers are eliminated. Who remains — wins. nine0003

11. What should I do?

Choose any object and in turn start thinking about what you can do with this object. Whoever can’t come up with it has lost.

12. Truth or dare

The facilitator asks one of the players: “Which do you choose — truth or dare?” If the player chose «truth», he must answer the host’s question honestly. If an action, then the leader must complete the task.

This is a trust game. And advice to parents — do not get carried away with questions. nine0003

13. Find a clue

Adults are hiding some gift for children in a safe place. And draw clues by which you can get to this gift. Children receive the first clue — for example, this is a piece of paper on which the location of the second clue is drawn. Etc. After completing the entire quest, the children will find their treasure. Sweets are best.

14. Theater evenings

— You can arrange a duel — children put on a play for adults, and adults put on a play for children. nine0003

— You can teach children to show shadow figures with their hands and play a shadow show. Remember that the hand should be between the directional lamp and the white wall (or curtain).

— You can arrange a guessing theatre. Children act out some kind of fairy tale without words, and adults guess what kind of fairy tale it is.

— You can write different genres on pieces of paper — comedy, tragedy, detective, horror, melodrama, etc. Parents make up a fairy tale, and children pull out one of the pieces of paper — in what genre should this fairy tale be played? The detective from Kolobok will be very funny! nine0003

— Put up a screen and you can play a puppet show.

15. Twister

In order to warm up and laugh, it is not necessary to buy the Twister game with a painted field and a roulette wheel. Everything can be organized by yourself. Paste pieces of colored paper on the floor (with adhesive tape). Lay out two piles of papers — in one the names of the “limbs” (right leg, left leg, left hand, right hand), in the other pile of tasks (to red, to yellow, to blue, etc.) Players must pull out pieces of paper and perform tasks! nine0003

On the street

Our children do not have time to walk at all, and the holidays are a real opportunity to get some fresh air. Moreover, you can also play in the yard or in the park

16 . Stretch a rope between two trees, tie small souvenir prizes wrapped in beautiful paper on long threads. Children must cut their gifts blindfolded.

17. Hug tag. These are the usual catch-ups, only there is a nuance — you can’t touch those who hug. In turn, hugging (and thus being in the house) can be no longer than 5 seconds. nine0003

18. Treasure map. You can bury or hide some gift in the yard or in the park. And give the children a map by which they can navigate and look for this treasure. A variant of the game is to break into two teams (families or children against parents). Each team must draw a map for the opponents. Whoever completes the task faster is the winner.

19. If the right snow falls, you can make themed snowmen . For example, cats or food. Turn on your fantasy! nine0003

20. Frozen toys. In molds or plastic cups, you can freeze whole compositions — from twigs, toys, figurines. Top with water (and do not forget to freeze the thread in the same place, on which you will then hang the toy). When the toys are frozen, they can be hung on trees, on Christmas trees, decorate the yard and park. By the way, water in molds can be tinted with gouache or watercolor.

Option:

Ice balloons

Pour water into the balloon. Give it a shape (to freeze a flat figure, you need to put something on the ball). When the water freezes, the balls can be removed and an exhibition of ice figures can be arranged.
