Vegeta: I don’t need this stinkin’ planet! I’ll just use my Galick Gun and blow the whole thing up!

      [he laughs maniacally]

Dragon Ball Z’s 15 Best Fights

As Dragon Ball Super continues, we’ve seen some pretty intense fights in the series. But for any anime fan from the 90s, when thoughts of big showdowns come to mind, Dragon Ball Z brawls come to mind. For nearly 300 episodes, DBZ has continued to up the ante with more and more powerful villains who have evolved from exploding craters into the earth into explosive planets.

The main attraction of Dragon Ball Z has always been combat, so there were plenty of them in the show. The heroes seemed to be doing next to nothing but eating, exercising, and screaming as they received another power boost. It made for a lot of interesting encounters, and a lot of people are probably comparing the new fights in Super to their favorite fights in the DBZ. There are many fights to choose from, so we have selected the best from the group. Not only from TV series, but also from movies that take place during the DBZ era. Super can justify a lot if the creators want to compare it with 15 Best Fights of Dragon Ball Z .

16 VEGETA, KILLIN AND GOAN VS RECOMMENDATION

While Recoome was obviously going to be nothing more than a torment in the grand scheme of things, he was the first big threat to any of the Z Fighters on Namek. Sure, Zarbon managed to defeat Vegeta earlier, but that didn’t make Vegeta desperate enough to seek allies. But once he sensed the Ginyu Force approaching, he forgot his animosity towards Gohan and Krillin and took a rare moment to form an alliance. Just seeing Vegeta fight alongside his former enemies for the first time made this fight feel special.

Then the battle began, and we saw that Vegeta’s ruthless power was not enough to stop Recoum. Recoome seemed to just play with his opponents, even allowing the three of them to fight him at the same time. The last time we saw the Z Fighters have to triple the team, someone was up against Nappa, and that meeting ended in the deaths of several of them. Even Gohan, like him, crying out against Raditz, was powerless to change the situation. This was the first moment on Namek where it looked like Frieza’s forces could win, and had it not been for Goku’s arrival, there is little doubt that Recoum would have ended several lives.

15 FUTURE CARS VS SWORD FREEZE

Some fights are great because they are wars between two incredibly powerful forces, while others are great, just sit back and watch an elite warrior dominate your opponent. When the Future Trunks arrived to confront Mecha Frieza and King Cold, it was a very recent situation. And what Goku spent on the screen clock only took a few minutes.

Part of the fun in the fight was the mystery of who Trunks was, how he was able to become a Super Saiyan like Goku, and where that left the series going. Frieza was the most powerful villainess as well as knowledgeable characters of the time. With his final destruction, there is no doubt that this marked the beginning of an exciting start to the newest saga of the series. Also, if you’re about to debut a new character, a good way to do so is by introducing them to an awesome kill. It was one of the shortest fights in the series, but one of the coolest moments of the show was the image of chests cutting Frieza in half with a sword.

    14 VEGETA VS ANDROID 19

Philip K. Dick’s famous book once asked «Do androids dream of electric sheep? Saiyan prince Vegeta was interested in another question regarding androids: «Does a machine like you experience fear?» By the end of this standoff between Vegeta and Android 19, we knew the answer to this question. After Vegeta ripped off both of his arms, 19 ran into the hills. And it turns out that the androids are right to feel the fear around Vegeta, because he did not spare the end of the robotic life 19th.

Of course, this fight was special for many reasons, and not just witnessing Vegeta kill the villain — we saw a lot of that on Namek. What’s different about this fight is that it was at this point that Vegeta became a Super Saiyan, which we heard about, only the Saiyans who were pure from the heart could do that. Obviously this doesn’t describe Vegeta, so this was a big surprise, especially after his failed transformation attempts on Namek.

The icing on the cake was Super Saiyan Goku who just tried and failed to win 19. This was the only time Goku was unable to defeat an opponent, but Vegeta managed to do it. And, of course, only because Goku’s heart disease that Future Trunks had warned about, but Vegeta savored the victory without a doubt.

13 GOHAN, VEGETA, PICCOLO AND FUTURE CARS VS BOJACK, BIDO, BUJIN AND ZANGYA

It’s not often that anime has villains smart enough to take down a hero right away. In fact, Dragon Ball Z is infamous for its characters being idle while someone powers up, charges up an attack, or cripple their allies. So Bojack automatically gets big points for not being stupid. He’s brought friends and he’s using them to his advantage. And it’s not like he even needs his allies, since this fight takes place after Gohan became Super Saiyan 2 and yet Bojack still holds him. This means that Bojack could actually be more powerful than Perfect Cell.

Part of this fight was special, as it was one of the few Dragon Ball Z movies that didn’t help Goku save the day. Even though Goku was dead, he was supposed to land one hit on Bojack when Gohan got into trouble, but Gohan still landed the final blow. Plus, since Gohan stopped training after that, that was really the last time we saw him as a 4WD Super Saiyan 2. With the help of Bua Saga, he was busy fighting local crime and being a student, and then he acquired his Mystic form. which made Saiyan transformations redundant. This was our last look at the super-powered Gohan that could stop the threat to Earth.

12 VEGETA AND GOKU V.S. KID BUU

Buu was never the most eloquent villain in the series, and only became less erudite when he returned to his Kid Buu form. Although Fat Buu was able to communicate like a child, and Super Buu had no trouble talking when it came to candy or killing people, Kid Buu let his actions speak for him. He was an uninhibited chaos, traversing the universe and destroying planets every minute just for fun. We’ve seen villains threaten to destroy Earth before, but Kid Buu was the first to go through with it.

Due to the lack of social skills, Kid Buu did not have much animosity in this fight. It wasn’t about personal animosity, like with Frieza, or arrogance, like with Cell. Buu was just a living embodiment of destruction that needed to be stopped. This fight was so desperate that Vegeta put aside his grudge against Goku to work alongside him while he prepared the Spirit Bomb. And it marked one of the only successful Spirit Bombs in the franchise, which is a relief given that she accepted using the dragon balls’ wishes to have every person on Earth give their energy to Goku, as well as wishing for Goku’s energy to be restored to full. to hit Buu with the thing.

11 android 16 vs imperfect cell

When Super Saiyans became part of the series, it was quite rare to see a non-Saiyan become a hero. It can be frustrating for fans of the original Dragon Ball to watch many of the other characters become useless or turned into jokes for filler scenes. Part of what made Cell Saga enjoyable is that characters like Piccolo, Tien, and even Krillin got another big moment. But the biggest surprise was that the Android 16 newcomer was given not only the chance to become a hero, but also to almost kill The Clash.

It was hard to imagine that we would ever feel sympathy for androids since they were created to kill Goku, but the arrival of Clal quickly overshadowed their potential for destruction. So the apathetic Android 16 of all the people willing to challenge Cell was a shock. Even more shocking was that 16 surpassed Kell and literally began tearing him limb from limb, starting with the tail. The combination of an unlikely hero and the fact that this was the first fight where we saw Cage dominate made this an unforgettable encounter. It’s a shame that Android 17 and 18 repeatedly ignored 16’s launch warnings and caused its efforts to go in vain.

10 SUPER SAIAN 3 GOKU VS FAT BUU

In many ways, Bug Saga was about a new generation trying to rise up to protect the Earth. Goku realized that his presence on Earth was a magnet for people who wanted to hurt him, and thus his home. So he wanted to stay away and let his descendants handle things. So, due to how focused the storyline is on Gohan’s youthful years and the advancing power of Trunks and Goten, we didn’t see how powerful Goku became. This fight was a major revelation of how far Goku has progressed in his preparation.

Admittedly, the five-minute transformation sequence in Super Saiyan 3 was the most memorable part of the fight, but it was also the first time Buu met his match. If it weren’t for Goku’s time limit on how long he could stay on Earth, it would likely have been the moment Buu was defeated. But it also showed Buu’s strength that even with Goku’s new transformation, Buu enjoyed the fight and wanted to do it again. However, the biggest impact this confrontation had was Goku pushing Buu into no longer obeying Babidi, which led to Buu killing the magician and becoming his own master.

9 PICCOLO, KRILLIN, TIEN, CHIAOTZU AND GOHAN VS NAPPA

Dragon Ball Z already started with Goku dying in the first fight of the series, but it’s not yet clear how different this series will be from the original Dragon Ball. Then Nappa and Vegeta showed up and everything changed. In the beginning, the odds looked good for the Z-fighters. They stood six to two ahead of their opponents. Among them were the likes of Yamcha and Tian, who repeatedly proved to be one of the strongest fighters in the World Martial Arts Tournament every year. Plus they had Piccolo, who became the strongest antagonist of the original Dragon Ball. Of course they did it.

Yamcha was then killed before the Z Fighters even got a crack against the Saiyan invaders thanks to the Saibamen. Nappa presumptuously decided to take on the remaining Z Fighters on his own, so that must have meant things were looking up — until Nappa showed just how brutal the new series’ tone would be. He killed Chiaotzu, Tien and even Piccolo in quick succession. The fight set a shocking pace for what to expect from the DBZ and signaled a changing of the guard from Dragon Ball characters to the power of the Saiyans.

8 MAJIN VEGETA VS FAT BUU

When Buu first emerged from his orb, he was not what anyone expected. He almost didn’t look like a real threat. He quickly recaptured Gohan and killed Dabura, but we knew from Vegeta’s previous remarks that neither of them were great fighters anymore. Vegeta, meanwhile, has just ascended Super Saiyan 2 thanks to Babidi’s power. He proved that he reached his pinnacle by simply fighting Goku and knocking him unconscious. So, Vegeta was Buu’s first real test.

It quickly became apparent that Vegeta, no matter what, had surpassed everyone and that Buu was too resilient to be defeated. The hallmark of this fight is not that it was an evenly contested fight, but how Vegeta chose to end it. Knowing the threat Buu poses, Vegeta disabled the Trunks and Goten and ordered Piccolo to take them out. He made no secret of his intention to sacrifice himself, and that’s what makes this fight so memorable. This was the first time Vegeta had put others in front of him, and he allowed his power to unleash a self-destructive explosion to destroy Buu. His last thoughts weren’t about gaining strength or pride as a Saiyan prince, but about saving his family and even Goku.

    7 GOKU VS FREEZE

When this fight first happened, it looked like it could very well be the end of the series. It seemed to be what everyone was building for. And honestly, this fight, which isn’t so disastrous in retrospect, is the reason it doesn’t rank higher on the list. It was one of the longest fights not only in the series, but in the entire anime, and didn’t even resolve the confrontation as all the characters that were killed or appeared to be dead soon returned.

But even with these disappointing aspects, there are still incredible moments in this battle. This was the moment when the legend of the Super Saiyan became a reality and became a hallmark of the series. Also, it was the first time we saw someone take down Frieza before he became one of the deadliest characters in the series.

The fight could have used a more dynamic ending and possibly missed the planet Namek blowing up in «five minutes» over several episodes, but it’s still one of the biggest fights in anime.

    6 GOKU VS BERUS

When the new Dragon Ball Z movie came out in 2013, many fans were probably expecting the typical harmless romp that the previous few films had been. It seemed like the Z Fighters were finally so powerful that any enemy they faced was just an excuse for a fun fight. And at first Goku believed this. He asked to fight Beerus and confidently turned Super Saiyan 3 when he got his wish. Goku was so cocky that it was, frankly, a bit refreshing when Bears hit him with barely any effort.

Come to the second one, there was no doubt that Goku would have to take things more seriously. No wonder he was the one who turned into the Super Saiyan God Beer mentioned, but what was shocking was the result. Even giving it all away, Goku still lost. And it wasn’t even close — after the win, Beerus commented that he didn’t even use his full power. He could easily destroy the planet, as he was repeatedly threatened, and no one could stop him.

After the Z Fighters got so complacent, it was nice for them to change the pace by reminding them that they can’t jump through every battle. Beerus was the sort of layered antagonist the series needed, and he immediately stood out, becoming the first villain to win at the end of one of the films.

    5 GOKU VS MAJIN VEGETA

In Buu Saga, people often point out when the series started to spiral out of control with incredibly high power levels and limitless transformations, but it still had some great moments. Probably the best was a fight that didn’t even include Buu and instead featured Goku fighting against his old rival.

Vegeta lives to surpass Goku. He made no secret of it and uses his envy of Goku’s power to improve himself. After Goku sacrificed himself against Cell, Vegeta stood up in earnest after the battle and lamented that he would never get another chance to prove himself against his former enemy. Therefore, it was only natural for them to fight again, and once Vegeta climbed Super Saiyan 2 due to Babidi’s magic, they were evenly matched. Vegeta left Goku no choice but to fight after he brutally killed a crowd of people at the World Martial Arts Tournament. So the two most powerful characters in the franchise went for it once again.

There were fights in the series that looked cooler, but based on the amount of emotion, this one was at the top. Every blow Vegeta landed on Kakarot was accompanied by years of pent-up anger and frustration. Of course, Vegeta only won because of a cheap shot when Goku lowered his guard, but seeing Vegeta’s dark side return was an incredible moment. Although it was a little undermined when it was revealed that Goku actually had the Super Saiyan 3 transformation in his possession, and was actually holding back.

4 GOKU, VEGETA, PICCOLO, GOGAN, AND FUTURE CARS VS. It featured the most powerful heroes at the time against one of the most dominant forces they had ever faced. Even villains like Cell and Buu can be hurt by their opponents but simply respawn from any damage they take. Broly seemed completely immune to all attacks, even point-blank Kamehameha from Goku, who simply laughed it off.

Ever since Vegeta turned to the good side, fans have been left waiting for another evil Saiyan to spice things up. Broly’s uncompromising strength did the trick, and many fans became disillusioned that he would be a one-time character, while most of the villains on the show received dozens of episodes dedicated to them. So Broly’s popularity led to him getting two more sequels, the good but worse Second Coming, and the terribly overwhelming Bio-Broly. But at least his debut was still amazing and he made a huge impact on fans with the way he dropped the Z Fighters. Broly might even be higher on this list, not because of the anti-climactic finish in the fight.

    3 GOAN vs Perfect Cell

With this battle, the moment that had been building for the entire series finally arrived: Gohan’s untapped power was revealed. Goku has shown confidence in his son’s ability to defeat Cell ever since he left Hyperbolic Time, but Gohan and everyone else was convinced that Goku was just trying to boost Gohan’s trust. Then the destruction of the innocent Android 16 was finally more than Gohan could take and we got to see our first Super Saiyan 2.

The surge of power was as much a shock to Gohan as it was to the audience, and he let his newfound power come to mind, trying to torment the weaker Cell instead of directly killing him. This mistake eventually allowed Cell to regenerate stronger than ever, stronger than even Gohan, and mortally wound the Future Chests. The short window where Cell could finally get killed was all but gone, but the support of his friends gave Gohan the advantage he needed to win. With the now-deceased Goku’s voice urging him on and Vegeta finally distracting Cell, Gohan won the Battle of Kamehameas in one of the most powerful scenes in the series.

2 OFFER OF HONOR: GOKU AND VEGETA VS GOLD FRIES

Okay, it’s a cheat of sorts, but it’s too good not to mention. Sure, you could say it’s part of Dragon Ball Z since the title of the movie is Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’, but this movie was really more for Dragon Ball Super. Regardless, this gives us our third Frieza entry on the list, and his best yet. He finally cheered up enough to match the power of Super Saiyans and even got a new transformation: Golden Frieza.

It was an intense, fast-paced fight that actually delivered the action we were hoping for from Goku and Frieza’s first encounter on Namek. And this time, Frieza defeated Goku and prepared him for death. If not for the surprise that Vegeta was also a Super Saiyan god, Frieza might have won. Unfortunately, Frieza had not yet adjusted to his new form, and this made him weaker the longer he fought. But it was a great strategy for him to win the fight anyway by blowing up the Earth, especially without the «five minute» delay. It also showed how stupidly competitive Goku and Vegeta are that they seriously allowed the Earth to be destroyed rather than working together to defeat Frieza. Luckily, they had friends like Beerus and Whis to change the time for them.

Why does Vegeta call Goku Kakarot? Explanation of the common origin of the Nemesis

    Anime

The Dragon Ball series is perhaps one of the most famous anime franchises in history. The long-running action series has long been considered one of the first major bridges for Japanese animation to reach international audiences. Weebs around the world can thank Dragon Ball for paving the way for other anime to break boundaries.

As for the characters in the series, those names are as memorable as the series itself, especially Goku and Vegeta.

Of the many popular characters in the franchise, even the most uninitiated can probably name Goku and Vegeta offhand. As the protagonist of the series, Goku has made a place in the hearts of many fans as a perennial favorite with his boundless optimism and never ending road to excellence. Meanwhile, Vegeta’s status as an anti-hero is so iconic that actor Michael B. Jordan even gave him a nod.0141 Black Panther .

Longtime fans know that Vegeta always calls Goku «Kakarot» in the series, but why?

Throughout the Z-Fighters series, Goku and Vegeta remain the best sworn enemies. For Goku, relationships are based on mutual respect and sincere friendship, but Vegeta sees Goku as a nemesis whose strength he constantly has to overcome.

Regardless of how each of them perceives the relationship, they are undoubtedly one of the most famous duos in anime history. Their bond is highlighted by the fact that Vegeta has a special name for the show’s protagonist — he calls him «Kakarot» instead of Goku.

Where did this name come from? Interestingly, this is not a nickname that Vegeta uses. On the contrary, in fact! Kakarot is the name given to Goku at birth.

You see, both Vegeta and Goku are part of an alien species known as Saiyans, who hail from the planet Vegeta (yes, the planet is also called Vegeta). As a child, Vegeta (human) became aware of Goku’s existence and knew him by the name given to him by Goku’s biological father Bardock.

    Article continued under advertisement

After the destruction of their home planet, Vegeta escaped, and Bardock sent his son to Earth to survive in his place. It is there that Goku is picked up by a martial arts hermit named Son Gohan and given the name Goku.
