1. Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 finally arrives on current-gen consoles and is all the better for it. With extra content, fun DualSense additions, a myriad of performance options and gorgeous visuals, this is by the far the ultimate version of an already brilliant game.

Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is a fun next-gen experience on the PlayStation 5 and the devs should be commended on implementing some new gaming tech with the franchise from 4K graphics to fast load times and my personal favourite, immersive haptics when you pull the trigger. Additionally the gameplay works well and all in, Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is a positive and engaging experience on the PlayStation 5.

Gameplay requires the player to use tact and planning on their part, but the game pace is still faster than sniper elite series. Each map and missions are really fun and challenging. The only complaint I have is that the drone was almost unusable with all the anti drone towers about, otherwise the game is almost perfect for a single player campaign. I must mention that graphically I felt a big difference in the ps5 and XBSX versions. Ps5 version seems to run on lower resolution on performance mode, but on the other hand offers nice adaptive triggers. I wish the resolution on the ps5 version was good on performance mode, the visual mode on ps5 have fps drops all the time and makes the game almost unplayable.… Expand

In early May, it became known that the version of Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 for PS5 would be delayed and not released on time. Developers from CI Games encountered unforeseen technical problems and had to postpone the release of the shooter. As an apology, the Polish studio promised to give buyers on all platforms the first major addition, and the owners of the PS4 version — to update the game for free.

On June 23, a critically acclaimed trailer appeared on YouTube announcing the release date for Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 on Sony’s next-gen console. Two months later, the «pumped» version of the game went on sale. And it has changed not only from the visual side. Details about the new sniper simulator we told back in June, but here we will briefly dwell on the innovations of the release for the PlayStation 5.

The developers tried to make a number of improvements in Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 that are often missing in cross-gen projects, including support for adaptive triggers and haptic feedback DualSense .

The first function provides resistance to the buttons when the trigger is pressed, while the second allows you to feel the feedback better. However, these features are not properly developed technically and do not provide full immersion in the game, like the projects of PlayStation Studios, like the recent Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut . Moreover, the lower vibration threshold «sinks» and works where it is not needed, turning on even when you press the «PS» button.

As for the picture, in the graphics settings, users can choose between «performance», «balance» and «detail» modes. In the latter case, the game runs in 4K resolution at 30 frames per second. High performance raises the bar to 60 FPS, but gamers will have to settle for 2K or so.

Balanced mode is of particular interest, in part because Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 was one of the first PS5 games to feature AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution Technology ( FSR ). Users who choose balanced graphics settings will be able to fine-tune manual adjustments.

Among the parameters of AMD FSR 1.0 are «quality» and «high quality», «balance» and «performance». After setting all the values ​​to «balance», the number of frames in Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 grows to 40-50, while the resolution does not drop, only visual effects are cut. Best of all, the game has proven itself when the “high quality” option is enabled, where the picture looks a little simpler than the maximum graphics settings, but the speed increases noticeably.

Otherwise, everything is prosaic: lovers of ultra-clear pictures should stop at «detail», and opponents of the brakes — at «performance». The flexibility of the options is good news, since in modern games you can choose from only two graphic settings. The developers of CI Games, in turn, went even further and offered many options to choose from, among which any user will find something of their own.

A major expansion, Butcher Banquet, has been added to previously released content, including the Temple Complex area with five contracts.

The PS4 version, launched under backwards compatibility, shows a high-resolution picture at 60 frames per second, but does not even come close to the splendor of visual effects that a more modern console produces.

Separately, I would like to praise the optimization of the game. In any of the modes, there are no serious bugs and significant drawdowns, which in a pandemic era is a kind of achievement. Errors occur only because of not the most thoughtful AI, when the soldiers «get stuck» in the wall, or due to clumsy physics, as a result of which the hero «floats» over boxes or a bush, unable to jump off.

There are no instant level loading in Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 on PS5. Compared to the version for PS4, launched under backwards compatibility, no changes have been identified — the level finishes loading in the same second.

Perhaps the most noticeable difference in the new Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is that it is an Elite Edition. This means that a major addition Butcher Banquet has been added to previously released content (« Butcher Banquet «), which includes the Temple Complex area with five contracts.

The add-on is really not small — it will take at least a couple of hours to complete it — and the location is very confusing. Wandering through the rocky terrain with many ruined temple buildings is very interesting. In terms of design, the authors outdid themselves, so it will not be difficult for an ordinary player to get confused in the paths and caves. The new material prolongs the enjoyment of the game without being another «stub» as modern developers like to do.

Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is a very enjoyable sniper simulator that has left most of its cons in the past. On PS5, it has become even more beautiful, and flexible customization has made it more accessible to a wide range of players. Additional content and free updates only add pluses to the piggy bank.

Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is available on PS5 starting August 24, 2021. The Ultimate Edition is also available for purchase with additional weapon content: Crossbow Carnage, Lock n’ Load, Abstract Assassin, Graffiti Glow and Dark Sky DLC.

Polish studio CI Games has announced the postponement of the release date of Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 to PlayStation 5 .

The shooter will release on other platforms as planned on June 4th , but the PS5 version will be delayed until the end of 2021. The reason was some unforeseen technical problems that surfaced a few weeks before the launch of .

The developers did not specify the details, but assured the players that they are actively working with Sony and the creators of the engine from Crytek to resolve the issue as soon as possible. The authors apologized for the delay and will be giving players on all platforms the first major DLC as compensation, which will include a new large map with new contracts . In addition, PS4 owners will receive an upgrade to the PS5 version for free.

The PlayStation 5 native port of the shooter will feature 4K support, improved textures and visuals, and faster loading times.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is also announced for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC (Steam).
