Jede Menge.

Skyrim: Volskygge Puzzle Solution
By
Anthony James Puleo Jr.
While traversing Volskygge, Skyrim players will find themselves met with a bewildering puzzle blocking them from continuing further.
Skyrim is known for a lot of things, but generally speaking, challenging puzzles isn’t one of them. Most fans will likely remember their time in Bleak Falls Barrow, where the solution to the puzzle was to look at the palm of the Golden Claw and use the order there. Many of the puzzles in the game are simple like this, but there are a few instances where The Elder Scrolls 5 presents players with some creative and challenging roadblocks. While traversing Volskygge, players will find one such puzzle, but the solution is simple once players know where to look.
Volskygge, like Bleak Falls Barrow, is an ancient Nordic tomb, and as such it has some similarities in its architecture. Most notably, the use of animal totems like the bear, owl, and snake is present in both tombs. To get past this locked door in Skyrim, players will have to decipher a riddle found in a book resting atop a dais. The riddle reads as follows.
RELATED: Skyrim: 10 Tips For Building A Dream House
«The first fears all, the second fears none. The third eats what it can, preferably number one. The fourth fears the second, but only when alone. All must be activated in order, if you wish to go home.» Throughout the room, players will find four handles above stones inscribed with different totems. The animals on the totems are the snake, bear, fox, and wolf. After deciphering the riddle, players need to pull activate the handles in the order described in the riddle.
«The first fears all» refers to the snake, as these creatures frequently lash out in self-defense even against things that are of no threat to them. «The second fears none» is of course talking about the bear, a mighty beast unmatched by much in the wilderness. «The third eats what it can, preferably number one» is the fox, as foxes are scavengers that will eat many things, but snakes are a common meal for them. Finally, «the fourth fears the second, but only when alone» is a nod to the wolf’s ability to hunt in a pack. Alone, a wolf would never take on a bear, but together they might stand a chance.
In order to complete the puzzle and move past this locked door, players need to activate the handles in this order: snake, bear, fox, wolf. Doing so should open the gate an unblock the player’s path. Though it doesn’t have any real value, players that consider themselves scavengers like the fox can take the book and sell it with a value of five gold.
Skyrim is available now on PC, PS3, PS4, Switch, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

Thankfully, the base game itself remains as utterly essential as always. [January 2016, p78]

The PS4 version has seen some slight increases to audio fidelity, resulting in an incredible auditory experience whether you’re out exploring the wilderness or speaking to an NPC. For some unknown reason the Xbox One and PC versions are not only unequal in this regard, but their files have been compressed to a point where the quality suffers.

If you’ve never had the chance to climb the snowy mountains of Skyrim, face off against its fierce Frost Trolls, or absorb the souls of dead dragons you’ve bested then jumping into Skyrim Special Edition is a no brainer.

After five years The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition is still an incredible experience that can cover the amounts of glitches and the animations system. Unless you are a PC player.

Even with some technical enhancements, Skyrim looks and feels a bit old today. The best thing about this console remaster is still the modding feature, now authorized (in a limited way) on PS4 and Xbox One.

If you’ve never experienced Skyrim, the Special Edition is certainly an adventure you can’t afford to miss. It still includes many of the original version’s bugs, ugly character models, and weak combat animations, but the memorable world benefits hugely from improved lighting and effects.

This remastered version of Skyrim includes a graphical improvement similar to the PC version with HD mods. The console version includes mods support, but this is not enough for Bethesda to sell this remastered game as a full-price version for the consoles.

I’ve been playing it since 2011 and the modding community had made this last as long as it has. I love the environments that it has set up and the expansive lore. I don’t feel like I need to do much more convincing cause if you haven’t played it by now, what are you doing!?!?… Expand

I was stacking books on a shelf in my house in Whiterun, one of Skyrim’s major cities, when I noticed a weapon rack right beside it. I set a sacrificial dagger in one slot, an Orcish mace in the other. They were on display for nobody but me and my computer-controlled housecarl, Lydia, who sat at a table patiently waiting for me to ask her to go questing. The chest upstairs was reserved for excess weapons and armor, the bedside table for smithing ingots and ores, the one next to the Alchemy table for ingredients. I’d meticulously organized my owned virtual property not because I had to, but because tending to the minutia of domestic life is a comforting break from dealing with screaming frost trolls, dragons, a civil war, and job assignments that never seem to go as planned. It’s even a sensible thing to do; a seemingly natural component of every day existence in Skyrim, one of the most fully-realized, easily enjoyable, and utterly engrossing role-playing games ever made. … Expand

Vistas, mountains, trees, snow, roads and more will all strike your eyes as shockingly refreshed and pretty to look at – especially if the first time you saw this game was on an Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 (as opposed to PC). The migration to current generation consoles wasn’t 100% upgraded as character models only got slight enhancements making them look a bit ‘muddy’ and out of place especially in contrast to the improved landscapes.
For those who may be new to the Skyrim experience – know that this video game yields many different outcomes and ways to play as an RPG adventure. Like a well-crafted video game, Skyrim allows you to focus on being a fighter or use stealth, you can spend time crafting weapons or find loot in dungeons and these are things other video games in the past have done but The Elder Scrolls V manages to blend the overall experience into a complete package. If you skipped on playing The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim the first time around then this is the perfect time to give the video game another chance.… Expand

Over 100 hours in and I haven’t finished the main quests. There’s so much to do! I wouldn’t mind having to think a little bit more on some of the quests, and it would be nice to have explore a bit more to find things without a marker showing you where to go. Games need to stop holding our hands!…Expand
