Over 94 million people have PlayStation Network accounts, and with that vast number of people comes the risk of being attacked by a hacker. Since games, movies, and music can all be tied to an account, losing it could be a big deal.

So what should you do if someone stole your PSN account? Here are the best steps you can take to get it back.

1. Act Immediately

The second that you think someone has accessed your PSN account, you should take action. There is a black market for PSN accounts online, and if you don’t stop them, someone could make money selling access to games through your account.

2. Change Your PlayStation Network Account Password

The first and simplest step you should take should be to change your password. Your password is now known to the hacker. Any accounts that use the same password are potentially compromised. There are two methods to do this, depending on if you’re on a console or your PC/phone.

On Console:

Go to your settings menu and click on ‘Account Management.’

Click on ‘Account Information,’ then ‘Security.’

To reach the ‘Security’ menu, enter your current login ID and password. Then click on ‘Password.’

The final step is to enter your current password and your new password twice to finalize the change.

On PC:

Log into your PSN account and click your profile picture. Select ‘Account Settings’ from the dropdown menu. You may be asked to log in again to confirm your identity.

Click ‘Security’ in the panel on the left side of the screen.

In either case, it is recommended to use a service such as Dash Lane to generate and store more secure passwords.

3. PlayStation Network Account Recovery

If you cannot log into your account to change the password, you’ll have to go with PSN account recovery. For the best results, use your PC/phone/laptop.

Go to the Sony Entertainment Network login page and click ‘Trouble Signing In?’.

Home/Cybersecurity/PlayStation Account Hacked? Here’s What to Do!

Do you have reason to believe your PlayStation Network account has been compromised? Maybe you’ve received some unusual credit card notifications, or your bank statement has some unexplained purchases on it, or maybe you’ve even received a receipt from the PlayStation Store via email. The last one’s a smoking gun, but they can all be big signs that somebody has gained access to your PSN account. If you think that’s the case, here’s what you need to do!

Step #1 — Try to reset your password

The hacker may have changed your password, but resetting it yourself can help you regain control of your account. Here’s how to do it:

1. Click here and select Trouble Signing In > Reset your password and enter your sign-in ID (your email address).
2. You will receive an email containing a verification link. It is normal for it to take a few minutes to arrive, but if you don’t receive it within 24 hours, follow the steps outlined here.
3. Click on the verification link in the email, fill in the required information, and set a new password. For tips on creating super-strong passwords, check out our awesome article here!

If you were able to reset your password, move on to step 2. Otherwise, you should contact Sony directly for help resecuring your account. You can do so by clicking here.

Step #2 — Kick the hacker out!

After changing your password, you can banish the hacker for good by requiring all devices to log back in (but the hacker doesn’t have your new password!). Here’s what you need to do:

1. Go here and sign in to your account.
2. From the panel on the left-hand side, select Security.
3. Click on Sign Out on All Devices in the bottom right.

Step #3 — Secure your account with 2FA

Not sure what 2FA is? You probably want to check out this article: What is Two-Factor Authentication and How Does It Work?

In short, 2FA (or 2-step verification as Sony calls it) adds an extra layer of security to your PlayStation Network account.

To set it up, click here and follow the instructions on Sony’s website.

Stay ahead of the game

Properly securing your PlayStation Network account and your other online accounts can seem like a chore. For ease of use, it’s tempting to use the same password across multiple accounts and not bother to set up 2FA, but the truth is, hackers are looking for easy targets. After reclaiming your PSN account, by practicing good password management and using 2FA, your account will be effectively unhackable!

How to restore your psn account — Sonyclub.su

    • Internet hackers are one of the worst and most annoying things that has ever happened to technology. They can access your data, bank account information, and so on. For years, hackers have been targeting PlayStation users to take over their profiles, using a third-party email address to evade detection in order to steal your PlayStation account. Basically, all psn account hack stories are the same. Someone accessed your account, changed your email address and/or password, and went to the store using your credit card information.

If your PlayStation account has been hacked, the first thing you should do to recover your PSN account is contact Sony Support immediately and if all goes well, they will get your account back within an hour.

However, according to numerous PS4 forums, users are complaining that Sony is not handling hackers. Many claim that sometimes Sony requires the victim of a hack to pay the bills the scammer made, and other times they ban access to the account for up to six months. If hackers have spent hundreds of dollars on your account, you are very out of luck. PS Customer Support has told many who have experienced this issue that they are only entitled to refund you $150, regardless of any additional account losses. That is why you must act very quickly. Getting back a stolen psn account can be harder than you think.
      nine0007

Let’s take a look at what actually needs to be done. Ignoring Sony’s error messages, let’s get down to business! When dealing with a hacked PS4 account, there are various ways to recover it.

Sony has finally implemented 2-Step Verification, which you can activate through their website. Whether or not your account has been hacked, it is recommended that you use this process to further protect your account. This two-step process makes it much harder for hackers to access your personal information.
      nine0007

If you are already hacked — change your PS login password immediately. And if you have other accounts with the same email details and the same password, it would be good to do the same with them. However, if you are logged out and unable to access your PS4 account, please contact PlayStation Support as soon as possible to change your password through them.

If money has been spent from your account: If you are paying with PayPal, contact them immediately and disable any pre-approved purchases coming from your PlayStation account. They will not refund payments already processed, but PayPal may terminate further transactions. The same goes for debit or credit cards. Contact your bank and ask them to stop any transactions on PlayStation.

If the email address has been changed along with the password: Speak directly to Sony Customer Support and they will be able to undo the change. This should work if you received an email informing you of the changes, but you didn’t click on the confirmation link. This will show that you did not make any changes.

If a hacker changed the main user to another one on the Playstation: be sure to change your password as soon as possible to regain access to your online games. However, this will not immediately give you primary access. You have two options:
      nine0007

      • If you’re lucky and the hacker left the Remote Play feature, you can use that feature to log into the console and deactivate the main user. Then change your password immediately and preferably also your email address for an added security measure.
      • If you’re unlucky and this doesn’t happen, contact Sony support and ask them to deactivate the main user and reset the settings.

These are just a few of the things you can do to save your PS4 from account hacking. We hope the tips were helpful and we wish you the best of luck!

    • As a rule, for violations related to the account and services, they give an account ban, and for violations related to the console, they give a console ban, respectively

forever. Now let’s consider for what violations you can get a ban.

First. Mats, insults, racist statements, etc. in game chats and even personal correspondence. This can result in your account being banned. So be very careful what you write. nine0007

Second. Obscene account name. If you come up with a nickname for yourself that contains, for example, a swear word or an insult, then your account can be blocked for this.

Third. PS PLUS Collection activation. So far, there is no reliable 100% data that you can get a ban for activation. However, there has already been one precedent, which is related to the PS PLUS Collection subscription. The case happened in Asia, where for multiple activation of the PS PLUS Collection subscription on PS4, the seller was banned forever, and the buyers for 2 months. As it turned out, the reason for the ban was that more than 50 different accounts entered the console, and they made purchases in the PS Store in another region, the system detected this and the hacked account protection mechanism worked. Therefore, it turns out that users were banned not for activating the PS PLUS Collection, but for abusing the seller, but nevertheless they all received a ban. nine0007

Fourth. Using other people’s accounts. Firstly, such accounts can be stolen and the owner may eventually suspect that something is wrong with his account and complain to technical support. Or even if the account is not stolen, but for example, it belongs to your friend and he himself gave you access to it, then if he writes a complaint, your account will still be blocked. Therefore, be careful and better think three times before buying such accounts on the Internet.

Fifth. Ban for payment arrears. The fact is that if you attached your bank card to your Playtstation account and forgot to turn off auto-renewal of the subscription, then when the deadline comes and Sony wants to withdraw money for renewing the subscription, it may fail, for example, because the card has a zero balance or the bank’s servers are working intermittently, or the bank canceled the payment and the money was not withdrawn from the card, but the subscription was extended, then in this case Sony can ban the account until you pay off the debt and this is quite hemorrhoids. You can’t log into your account because of a ban. To avoid this ban, just in case, turn off auto-renewal of subscriptions and renew them manually as needed. nine0007

Sixth. Unfair use of trial versions of subscriptions. Both psplus and ps now have a trial period that allows you to use the subscription for free for a limited time. However, if you create new accounts and again, and again activate the trial period on them, then these accounts will be banned and, in theory, for numerous repeated violations, Sony can even ban the console.

Seventh. Using a lag-switch device. This is a special device that artificially creates a delay in the transmission of information about the player’s actions to the server. And it turns out that other players see him as if hovering in one place, but in fact, everything works fine for the player himself, and during such a jitter he can run to another place and shoot other players. This is a cheat and gets banned for it. nine0007

Eighth. Posting in communities and sending erotic pictures in messages, as well as an erotic profile picture. Sony does not like sex and erotica, so you still can’t put your own profile picture on the Playstation. Therefore, be careful, even for a picture with half-closed intimate places you can get a ban.

Ninth. Purchasing games with stolen cards. If Sony finds out that the card with which you paid for the purchase is stolen, and the bank can inform them about this, then you will instantly receive a ban. By the way, charts generated with the help of special services can also be stolen, so I do not recommend using them. nine0007

Tenth. Console hack. If you use cracked firmware or some kind of bug on your console, or any other technical vulnerability of the console with which you got the content for free, then you will get a console ban for this.

These are all the reasons I know at the moment for which you can get a ban. Do not be greedy, be careful and honest and then the bans will bypass you. Well, if your account or console is still blocked, then you can write to those.
