Das Demon’s Souls-Remake eignet sich perfekt für die neue Bild-in-Bild-Funktion der PS5.
Dass wir als Spieler gern an den Erlebnissen anderer Zocker teilhaben, dürfte seit dem Durchbruch von Lets Plays auf YouTube oder etwas später Twitch kein Geheimnis mehr sein. In Zeiten von Social Distancing und wochenlangem Lockdown wurden lokale Spieleabende nahezu unmöglich, gemeinsames Daddeln beschränkte sich vorrangig auf Multiplayer-Ballereien und stundenlanges Verdächtigen in Among Us.
Zumindest bis in unserer Online-Clique ausgiebig darüber philosophiert wurde, wie man das Spielgefühl von Dark Souls im New Game Plus auflockern könnte. Wir fachsimpelten über potentielle Challenge-Runs, verglichen dabei unsere Herangehensweisen und legten Limitierungen fest. So wurde alsbald eine Idee geboren:
«Hey, warum machen wir nicht ein Rennen gegeneinander und schauen uns dabei zu? Mithilfe der Screen-Sharing-Funktion von Discord sollte das ja super einfach gehen. Gespielt wird ohne Rüstung und nur mit einem Dolch bewaffnet!»
Gesunder Wettbewerb dank Bild-in-Bild-Funktion
Gesagt, getan! Discord-Overlay an, alle unwichtigen Bildschirmfenster ausgeblendet, und schon schnetzelten sich drei Freunde durch die unwegsamen Gegenden Lordrans. Wir planten gemeinsam die Verteilung von Charakterwerten, überdachten mögliche Routen, feuerten uns bei schier unmöglichen Boss-Fights an und verheimlichten auch gern mal heimtückisch unseren eigenen Spielfortschritt.
Ein Schneeball geriet ins Rollen, quasi täglich treffen wir uns nun, um weitere Herausforderungen auszuloten. Und dank der neuen Bild-in-Bild-Funktion der PS5, die ihm Rahmen der UI-Enthüllung vorgestellt wurde, geht das nun alles auch problemlos auf der PS5.
Per Knopfdruck könnt ihr permanent den Spielfortschritt eurer Freunde verfolgen.
Natürlich hätten wir zuvor auf Twitch streamen können, aber die plötzliche Öffentlichkeit ist erst einmal eine Hemmschwelle, schließlich möchte man lieber unter sich bleiben.
Die Multiscreen-Funktion von Apps wie Discord bietet dahingehend eine viel intimere Erfahrung.
Nicht nur Soulslikes profitieren vom PS5-Feature
Allein in Dark Souls: Remastered haben sich seit den ersten Probeläufen über 200 Stunden zusätzliche Spielzeit in meinem Profil angesammelt, die Möglichkeiten sind jedoch endlos. Viele weitere Genre-Vertreter, aber auch gänzlich andere Designkonzepte, stehen nun auf unserer Agenda. Etwa Metroidvanias, Shooter oder Jump n’ Runs. Vorrangig also Titel mit wenigen cineastischen Elementen, ansonsten wird die Ablenkung von der Handlung zu groß.
Auf der PS5 geht es weiter: Dank der erweiterten Party-Funktionen der PS5 können wir unsere Art und Weise, miteinander zu spielen, problemlos auf Sonys Next-Gen-Konsole übertragen. Das neue Call of Duty auf Veteran? Na, wer schafft es als Erster durch das Spiel? In Bugsnax fange ich die Pfannkuchen-Spinne definitiv ebenfalls vor den anderen beiden! Entsprechende Adrenalinschübe, sollten eure Kontrahenten eine besonders knifflige Aufgabe vor euch bewältigen, sind dabei ebenso inbegriffen, wie eine organische Verlängerung eurer Spielzeit.
Es muss ja nicht gleich ein Dark Souls sein. Fordert eure Freunde doch zu einer Speedrun-Challenge in Call of Duty heraus!
PS5-Besitzer profitieren außerdem von der gestiegenen Benutzerfreundlichkeit: Egal ob Discord, Zoom oder Skype, sie alle sind störrisch zu bedienen, nicht immer perfekt synchron und die Übertragungsqualität schwankt von Session zu Session. Je nach Spiel eignen sie sich zudem nicht für Setups mit lediglich einem Monitor. Zumindest im bereitgestellten Trailer von Sony wirkt das User Interface der PS5 hingegen aufgeräumt, zügig und vor allem qualitativ hochwertig.

Für uns alteingesessene Souls-Veteranen rangiert ein Titel logischerweise ganz weit oben: Das Demon’s-Soul-Remake. Grafisch beeindruckt die Neuveröffentlichung auf ganzer Linie, die Spannung, welche Gameplay-Änderungen Bluepoint vorgenommen hat, könnte kaum größer sein. Unsere Vorfreude liegt also vorrangig in der Auffrischung nostalgischer Gefühle begründet.
Für komplette Neulinge haben wir aber dennoch einen Tipp parat: Pfeift auf die neue Hilfe-Funktion der PS5-Oberfläche und durchstreift gemeinsam mit einem Freund Boletaria!
Soulslikes sind ideal dafür geeignet, mal zum zweiten Bildschirm rüber zu linsen. Nach Kämpfen könnt ihr euch kurzen Ruhemomenten gewiss sein und die Handlung wird größtenteils über die Umgebung und Item-Beschreibungen erzählt, ihr verpasst also nichts. Die spielerische Herausforderung bleibt weiterhin dieselbe, aber zwei Augenpaare sehen bekanntlich mehr als eins — Und ich garantiere euch, es wird euch noch viel enger zusammenschweißen.
