Sony has revealed the free PlayStation Plus games for April 2022 and members will be able to get Hood: Outlaws & Legends, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated and Slay the Spire for free. All three games will be available on PS Plus starting on Tuesday, April 5. Here’s a quick look at each one.
Hood: Outlaws & Legends (PS5 & PS4)
First off, I really enjoyed Hood: Outlaws & Legends when it released last year. But it definitely would’ve benefited from launching as a PS Plus title as it’s an online multiplayer game. The online community makes or breaks games like this and as we’ve seen in the past, PS Plus can provide a big boost of players. Hopefully that’s the case here.
Hood: Outlaws & Legends is, of course, inspired by the legend of Robin Hood. It’s primary game mode is the PvPvE Gold Rush in which two teams of four players compete to steal and extract a treasure. In addition to sneaking or fighting the AI Guards, you have to worry about the other team as well.
Since release, some new content has been added, including a full co-op PvE mode where teams control spawn points to recuperate gold.
As someone who has friends that absolutely loathe PvP, this could be a nice way to get them into the game.
Hood: Outlaws & Legends launched as a budget title. Although it showed signs of promise, there just wasn’t enough content at launch. With its arrival on PS5 and PS4 via PS Plus, perhaps it’ll get a second wind.
SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated (PS4)
Head back to Bikini Bottom in this remake of the classic platformer from 20023. Faithfully remade and released in 2020, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom takes you — as SpongeBob, Patrick and Sandy — on an adventure to thwart Plankton’s evil plan to rule Bikini Bottom. If you’re looking to have some fun with a pal, you can dive into horde mode, which supports up to two players online and offline.
Slay the Spire (PS4)
For me, Slay the Spire is the main attraction in April’s PS Plus lineup. In this fantasy deckbuilder adventure, you must journey to the top of an ever-changing spire. The game cleverly combines elements from card games with those of roguelikes. Carefully craft your deck from hundreds of unique cards and enhance them with powerful relics to overcome the challenges posed by the enemies and bosses in the Spire.
As a reminder, you have until April 4 to download March’s free PS Plus games, which include Ark: Survival Evolved, Team Sonic Racing, Ghostrunner and Ghost of Tsushima: Legends.
PlayStation Plus Free Games for April 2022 Revealed

PlayStation Plus has officially revealed the new free games that will be coming to the subscription service in April 2022.
In recent days, a new leak came about that seemed to tell us ahead of time which titles we should expect to see land on PS Plus in the coming month. Now, Sony has verified that this leak was accurate and has detailed the three games in question that will be available for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 owners to download starting next week.
Beginning on Tuesday, April 5th, PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to download Slay the Spire, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated, and Hood: Outlaws & Legends. Per usual, two of these games will be available solely on PS4, while one is available for both PS5 and PS4. In April, Hood: Outlaws & Legends happens to be the PS5 offering of the bunch while SpongeBob and Slay the Spire are those given to PS4 owners.
As always, it’s worth stressing that if you do own a PS5, you’ll be able to play all of these games in question, although Slay the Spire and SpongeBob will only be playable via their PS4 iterations as backward compatible titles.
Additionally, Hood: Outlaws & Legends happens to be downloadable for both PlayStation platforms in the month. Typically, this doesn’t happen as one game per month is often exclusive solely to PS5.

PlayStation Plus free games for April announced. Next month, gamers will get three games for free as part of their subscription. All three games are available to players on PlayStation 4, and only one of them will be available for free on PlayStation 5. The three PS Plus games will be available for download starting April 5th. Hood: Outlaws & Legends, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom — Rehydrated and Slay the Spire are all coming to PlayStation Plus this month. On April 1, the PS Prices community noticed that PS Plus subscribers can already pick up SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom — Rehydrated. Distribution of the April games should begin only on the fifth.

Our personal check showed that the game can indeed be picked up. The main condition is the presence of an active PS Plus subscription. To get the game, you need to go to the PS Store and enter the name of the game in the search. After that, you can add it to the library.
Looks like Slay the Spire and Hood: Outlaws & Legends will be available on April 5th. Earlier it became known that the game will be removed from the PS Plus Collection for the first time. It will be Persona 5.
PlayStation blocked in Russia
The official website of the digital store PlayStation Store has suspended work on the territory of the Russian Federation. When they try to sign in, users get a message stating that the page is not available.
Sony has not issued an official statement on this matter. At the time of publication of the material, PlayStation users from Russia still have access to the digital store from consoles.
Previously, Sony restricted the ability of players in Russia to top up their PS Store wallet, as well as spend funds deposited before the ban. From 29March, some gamers were able to use the money available on the account, as well as download free games from the store.
How PlayStation will work in Russia
Russian users have noticed that the regional PlayStation Store can again buy games — but only if there is money on the account account.
