Endgame’ Set First Hour Presales Record, Crash Ticket Sites – Deadline

3RD UPDATE, 3:08PM after 2nd Update, 1:22PM: Fandango is reporting that Avengers: Endgame has notched the best first-day U.S. sales record for the online ticket retailer, beating Star Wars: The Force Awakens — and it only took six hours.

Advance tickets for Avengers: Endgame went on sale on Fandango today at 5 a.m. PT/8 ET.

Fandango’s new list of top five first day presellers is as follows:

  1. Avengers: Endgame (2019)
  2. Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)
  3. Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017)
  4. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016)
  5. Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

Atom Tickets also made an update that Endgame is their best first day sales ever for the mobile ticket operator. It achieved that record in less than half a day and outsold Warner Bros. /DC’s Aquaman by 4x.

Over at Regal Endgame is outpacing their website advance ticket sales for any Marvel movie in the circuit’s history. Within eight hours of going on sale, Avengers: Endgame has doubled all the first week sales for Avengers: Infinity War.

“With our advance ticket record skyrocketing, we are preparing some exciting events and special offers for our Marvel movie fans,” said Ken Thewes, Regal’s chief marketing officer. “We will continue to monitor the demand and ensure Regal moviegoers can enjoy plenty of opportunities to see this highly anticipated movie.”

1st UPDATE: Avengers: Endgame tickets went on sale today with Atom Tickets reporting that in the first hour, the Marvel movie has set a record for the mobile ticket retailer. To date, Avengers: Endgame has sold three times more tickets on Atom in the first hour of pre-sales than Avengers: Infinity War did last year. The first hour of Avengers: Endgame presales also outstrips Atom’s first hour sales for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Fandango is also reporting strong sales for the Russo Brothers-directed sequel.

In addition, the frenzy for Avengers: Endgame tickets is so huge, it’s crashing sites. Ticket buyers are getting a 503 error code on AMC, and some users on Atom and Fandango are having difficulty too. But that’s a sign that business is strong, and it’s par for the course for any ticket retailer’s sites whenever there is a rush for a hot act. You just get boxed out. Keep trying.

Disney’s Avengers: Endgame opens on April 26.

@atomtickets Tickets are pending for the second time. First time the order was cancelled because there was an error reserving the tickets. Any idea what’s causing this? (It’s for a Regal theater) #AvengersEndgametickets pic.twitter.com/MHz7SWUZlg

Endgame Ticket Presales Are Five Times Bigger Than Infinity War

By
Ryan Scott

Advanced tickets for Avengers: Endgame have doubled The Last Jedi, Aquaman, Ininity War and Captain Marvel combined.

Avengers: Endgame hasn’t even hit theaters yet, but Marvel is already busy counting fat stacks of cash. Presale tickets for what is asserting itself easily as the most highly-anticipated pop culture event of the year were made available last week and anyone who was trying to purchase tickets for opening night is aware just how feverish the demand has been. After a full week, the movie has absolutely shattered presale records and is now poised to be a bigger hit than anyone expected.

Fandango has reported that they’ve sold five times more tickets for Avengers: Endgame in the first week than they did for Avengers: Infinity War last year. And Infinity War went on to score the all time opening weekend record at the box office both domestically and worldwide. So who knows just how much this movie could make on its opening weekend? The movie also now holds the record for sales in its first week, beating Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It’s clear people aren’t willing to deal with spoilers on this one. Erik Davis, managing editor of Fandango, had this to say.

«I wouldn’t be surprised to see a record amount of fans reporting sick to work or taking the day off on Friday, April 26 because they’ll be attending opening day screenings of ‘Avengers: Endgame. Even though ‘Endgame’ has sold out thousands of showtimes, there are still plenty of tickets still available on Fandango for the year’s most anticipated movie.»

To put it another way, Avengers: Endgame has sold twice as many presale tickets so far as Aquaman, The Last Jedi, Infinity War and Captain Marvel. Combined. Considering that all of those movies eclipsed $1 billion at the box office ($2 billion in the case of Infinity War) one has to wonder just how high the ceiling is for Marvel’s latest.

At this point, there are already thousands of sold out shows on opening weekend all across the country. Major theater chains have been adding showings left and right to keep up with demand, with some holding showings as early as 4 a.m. on Friday, which is pretty crazy. Part of the problem is that the movie runs 3 hours and 2 minutes, which means theaters can squeeze in fewer showtimes per screen than they otherwise normally could for a massive blockbuster such as this.

Originally, tracking had the movie pegged for an opening weekend between $200 and $250 million domestically. Now, certain people within the business think it could go as high as $300 million, which is absolutely nuts. That said, these presale numbers do speak to demand on levels the industry has never seen. For those who haven’t obtained tickets yet, there are still plenty of them out there for opening weekend showings. But at this point, it’s best not to wait any longer. Don’t just show up at a theater on opening weekend hoping to grab a ticket at the last second. Marvel is set to release Avengers: Endgame on April 26.

Macron and the West should not participate in Putin’s Syrian endgame

InoSMI materials contain only foreign media assessments and do not reflect the position of the InoSMI editors France allowed itself to become part of the propaganda trick of the Russian and Syrian authorities. Here is a clear demonstration of the malaise of the West: democracies willingly sacrifice their principles, and authoritarian regimes can benefit from this.

Nathalie Nougaired

On July 21, a Russian Antonov military cargo plane landed on the runway in Châteauroux, in central France. There, it was loaded with 50 tons of humanitarian aid — medicines, tents — after which it went to the Russian military base Khmeimim in Syria. This is the stronghold from which Vladimir Putin’s troops have been relentlessly striking cities and towns since 2015, when the Russian president decided to intervene in the Syrian conflict to support the brutal regime of Bashar al-Assad.

In many ways, July 21 was the day Emmanuel Macron sold his soul to Putin. However, this is not only about the reputation of France. This episode clearly demonstrated the malaise of the West as a whole, showing how democracies can willingly sacrifice their principles and how authoritarian regimes can capitalize on this weakness.

Macron and Putin agreed to carry out this joint operation during their May meeting in St. Petersburg. According to a joint statement by the Russian and French sides, this humanitarian aid was intended for residents of Eastern Ghouta, a suburb of Damascus that Syrian government forces have besieged and Russian planes have bombed numerous times. Eastern Ghouta is also where Assad’s forces used chemical weapons on civilians in April, a crime that Russian diplomats have vehemently denied in various international forums. This humanitarian aid was supposed to be distributed under the auspices of the UN, but everything turned out differently: later, UN representatives denied their involvement in this operation. The distribution of medicines was controlled only by the Russian military and the Syrian authorities.

To sum it up: France allowed itself to be part of a propaganda stunt by the Russian and Syrian authorities to demonstrate cooperation with a European country whose diplomats have been tirelessly criticizing Assad and Russia’s policy in Syria for seven years. Why and how Macron agreed to add a «humanitarian» veneer to Russia’s intervention in the Syrian conflict remains unclear.

Kremlin-controlled TV channels rushed to publicize this news. However, in France, few people paid attention to her. This summer, the whole country focused on the Benalla scandal (we are talking about a security guard working for Macron who beat demonstrators during the May demonstrations in Paris). However, the lack of attention to Macron’s abrupt reversal of position on Syria is striking. And it is not yet clear whether there will be unpleasant questions about this. In keeping with French tradition, Macron’s team does not hold any regular official briefings, so the Élysée Palace decides when to report to the people.

However, the meaning of this episode goes far beyond the borders of France. The duet of Macron and Putin in Syria could be a potential harbinger of further capitulation of the West on the issue of the Syrian conflict, which became a real disaster, as a result of which half a million people died and several million more turned into refugees. By taking this ill-advised step, France became the first Western democracy to allow itself to be exploited as part of a massive Russian stunt—a pretty big achievement for Putin.

You may be asking yourself what is wrong with sending humanitarian aid through the Russian military? The answer is contained in the question itself: even if this is a one-time operation, it still deprives us of a moral guideline — and not least because there are no guarantees that this help will be received by people who really need it, and that it will not fall into the hands of those who exterminated the local population.

The decision to channel humanitarian aid through the Russian military justified their presence in Syria, as well as the existence of those Syrian organizations that cooperate with them, turning them into a credible tool for resolving the conflict. And this was done by France, whose representative at the UN in January quite rightly asked whether the statements of the Syrian government and those who help it can be trusted at all.

“Syria fatigue” has long been observed in Western countries. It entails a sense of powerlessness in the face of seemingly endless horror and overwhelming complexity. Confusion and arrogance were exacerbated by the spread of far-right ideas (remember that Matteo Salvini in Italy, Marine le Pen in France, the Austrian Freedom Party and others approve of Putin’s actions in Syria), and also attempts by the ultra-left to shift responsibility to others.

In addition, the situation is exacerbated by the fact that the American president associates with foreign autocratic leaders who take advantage of his narcissism and ignorance, as well as the fact that his only goal in Syria, apparently, is to protect Israel from the Iranian threat. He does not care at all about the suffering of Syrian civilians.

Over the past few years, France has taken a firm stand on the Syrian conflict and Russia’s role in it. Now that the Élysée has essentially rehabilitated the Russian military in Syria, it risks rejecting the very humanitarian principles that underpinned its decisions — and that turns it into a moral bankrupt. For what? According to some sources in Paris, one explanation could be that Macron wants to «remain in the diplomatic game» over Syria. With Donald Trump proving to be an unreliable ally on the Syrian conflict and elsewhere, Macron seems to have come to the conclusion that he should stay closer to Putin.

Putin certainly played his cards well in Syria, taking the West by surprise and winning militarily along with Iran, another key ally of Assad. Now that the remnants of the anti-Assad groups that emerged in 2011 are being methodically destroyed, Putin intends to enlist the support of Western countries to implement the so-called reconciliation plans, as well as to obtain Western assistance in the «rebuilding» of Syria — all of which, of course, will take place under Russian control . Of course, Europeans need to objectively assess the sharp imbalance of power in Syria and try to build a strategy that will be aimed at preventing the worst-case scenario of the development of events, which is to tighten repression and further radicalization in Syria, which still remains a fertile ground for terrorism. However, it is quite another thing to pretend that Russia can actually become a humanitarian ally after it played a key role in the massacres and after the numerous vetoes and other diplomatic obstacles it has placed at the UN.

Macron’s position as president is seriously affected by the Benalla case. But this is a completely different scandal, which also needs to be carefully analyzed in order to understand how a key European democracy reacts to crimes against humanity and how it responds to those who help to commit them. Putin seeks Western involvement in his efforts to cover up atrocities in Syria. He seeks to rewrite the history of recent years by drawing Western countries into a narrative in which Russia is positioned as a force for good, and not as a cruel accomplice of Assad.

Recently, Putin said that the migration crisis in Europe is another reason why the West should cooperate with him and Assad, who intends to remain in power in Syria. And this happened at a time when the Syrian regime admitted that since 2011, thousands of people have died as a result of torture in its prisons.

Now the question for European countries is whether they are ready to follow the example of Macron and become pawns in the game between Putin and Assad, the goal of which for now is their rehabilitation, and then attracting funds from Western countries to restore Syria.

Macron is a young French president who wants to lead Europe and who often demonstrates his passion for philosophy. Now, as he tries to woo Putin in the hope that France’s voice will be taken into account in the process of settling the Syrian conflict, he may want to remember philosopher Reinhold Niebuhr’s words about the «irony of history.» This irony, as Niebuhr wrote, occurs when «our dreams of pure virtue are dissipated» as a result of us «taking morally risky steps» and thus «incurring future guilt. »

Avengers: Endgame — Marvel

After the events of the Infinity War, half of the living beings in the universe are destroyed. Three weeks later, Carol Danvers, called in to help, rescues Nebula and Tony Stark drifting in space and moves them to Earth. Teaming up with them are Natasha Romanoff, Bruce Banner, Steve Rogers, Rocket, Thor, and James Rhodes. The team begins contemplating a plan to take the Infinity Stones from Thanos in order to try and bring back the dead. Nebula tells them that Thanos can be found on the planet Titan II, and Rocket confirms her words, referring to the fact that there was a surge of energy on this planet, similar to what happened on Earth when Thanos snapped his fingers. Arriving on Titan II, the team attacks Thanos. Thor cuts off his hand with the Infinity Gauntlet, but it turns out that there are no Stones in it — they were destroyed by Thanos. Titan explains this by saying that the Stones have completed their task — they have corrected the universe and are no longer needed. Thor kills Thanos in anger.

Five years pass. The Avengers team, which has switched to a peaceful life, is getting together again. Ant-Man, who joined them, accidentally got out of quantum reality, talks about his stay in the quantum world. Studying it, the Avengers come to the conclusion that time travel is possible in it. They turn to Tony Stark for help, who at first refuses, but then changes his mind and creates a working prototype time machine.

The Avengers are divided into groups and are going to find and collect the Stones in the past, while they have only one attempt, since the number of Pym particles needed is limited and the team does not have the resources to create new molecules. Bruce, Steve, Scott and Tony travel to the 2012 Battle of New York events for the Time, Mind and Space Stones. The Hulk goes to the Sanctum Sanctorum to Doctor Strange to retrieve the Time Stone, but instead meets the Ancient One, who tells him that he came 5 years too early and Strange has not yet become what Banner knows him to be. The Ancient One refuses to give him the Stone, but when Bruce tells her that Strange gave the Stone to Thanos of his own free will, she changes her mind and still gives the Stone to Banner. Stark, Rogers, and Lang went to Stark Tower to retrieve the Mind and Space Stones. Steve manages to trick the W.D.A.R. agents by pretending to be a Hydra agent and retrieve Loki’s scepter, but along the way, he encounters a version of himself from the past. Steve from 2012 thought it was Loki; a fight broke out between them, Steve Rogers from the future won. At the same time, Stark and Lang try to take the Tesseract. The smaller Lang causes a short circuit in Stark’s reactor from 2012, causing him to fall to the floor and drop the case containing the artifact. Scott pushes the case away from 2023 Stark, but when he tries to leave, he suddenly runs into the Hulk from the past and loses the case. He falls to the feet of Loki, who captures the Tesseract and disappears in an unknown direction. After giving the scepter to Loki Lang, Rogers and Stark move to 1970, where the Tesseract and new Pym particles are taken away to return to 2023. Rocket and Thor follow the Reality Stone to 2013 Asgard to retrieve the Aether. Rocket successfully extracts the Stone from Jane Foster, and Thor talks to his mother Frigga hours before her death at the hands of Malekith. Before heading back to 2023, Thor takes the hammer Mjolnir with him. Barton and Romanoff go to Vormir to retrieve the Soul Stone in 2014, however, this Stone can only be obtained in exchange for life, and Natasha sacrifices herself. On Morag 2014, Nebula and War Machine find the Power Stone. Due to the presence of two Nebulas in the same time and space, a connection arises between them, and Thanos becomes aware of the plans of the Avengers. He decides to replace Nebula from the past with Nebula from the future and get the collected Stones, and then destroy all living things in the universe and repopulate it.

The Avengers return to 2023 and set the Stones in Stark’s new Infinity Gauntlet. The Hulk puts on the Gauntlet and brings back to life all those destroyed by the snap. Nebula from 2014 activates a portal through which Thanos travels to our reality. He destroys the Avengers base and sends his loyal Nebula to retrieve the Gauntlet. Thor, Iron Man and Captain America emerge from the ruins and attack Thanos. Thanos disables Stark and Thor, and Rogers picks up Mjolnir and remains alone with Thanos. Titan summons his army of Chitauri and the Black Order and is about to destroy the entire Earth. But suddenly others begin to appear from the portals, including heroes who have returned to life. The battle begins. The Avengers try to send the Gauntlet of the Stones back in time, but Thanos intercepts it, puts it on and tries to snap his fingers. He is interrupted by the arrival of Carol Danvers, and then by Iron Man, who takes the Stones and snaps his fingers himself. Thanos and his army are destroyed, but Tony himself dies from the damage caused by using the Gauntlet.

Tony Stark’s funeral takes place at the end. Steve Rogers travels back in time to return the Stones and Mjolnir to the right time, but decides not to go back and spend the rest of his life with Peggy Carter; appearing in the present tense as an old man, he gives his shield to the Falcon. In the past, Steve and Peggy are shown dancing as he promised her.

  • Captain’s Miracle

Carol’s new look after the time skip in Avengers: Endgame is inspired by the comics for two reasons. Her short hair was carried over from her modern design, as was the red sash she wears as a sash. Also, it’s subtle, but Carol showing concern for Rhodey and telling him to be safe is a reference to their recent romance in the comics.

  • 25 or

In Avengers: Endgame, Thor was supposed to confront himself in 2012, but the idea was ultimately scrapped, as shown by directors Joe and Anthony Russo. While Captain America (Chris Evans) was directly linked to himself from the events of 2012’s Battle of the Avengers New York and Nebula (Karen Gillan) with his evil counterpart from 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy, apparently, Tora was supposed to have his own similar moment in Endgame. Speaking to the MTV podcast, Russo said that the original plan was to have Thor against the Thor Confrontation in Asgard. However, they felt «it’s too complicated [the plot]», adding that they also liked «Hat vs. Hat» more, so they dropped that part. Instead, they gave Thor a different experience when he went back in time — another chance to talk to his mom and give her a proper goodbye, commenting, “I think there we also set aside the storyline between Thor and his mother. [It] was so resonant that we really wanted to run… It was really more a part of Thor’s journey and repair than a clash with his old self. So that’s what really happened there, why we went for it.”

  • Avengers: Age of Ultron

In the final battle of Avengers: Endgame, Thanos breaks Captain America’s shield in half, fulfilling a prophecy that was revealed to Tony in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). Also in the vision is the Hulk injured and unable to fight, similar to Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Black Widow is dead in the same position she dies in Endgame and Thor appears to be dead in the same position as and then when Thanos wounded him with Stormtrooper in the final battle.

  • Tony Stark

Avengers: Endgame is the first Marvel movie to not have a post-credits scene. Many theatergoers would be left waiting for the continuation of the tradition, but instead a blank screen and a short clanging sound appears. The sound that is heard is Tony Stark’s hammer from the first movie (Iron Man (2008)). This is an indication from Marvel that events are final and mark the official end of the decade-long Infinity saga.
