Oblivion tipps und tricks: Oblivion Tips And Tricks For Players Coming From Skyrim

Oblivion Tips And Tricks For Players Coming From Skyrim

So, you’ve seen that Oblivion is now available to download on Game Pass and you’re curious about what Bethesda was up to before Skyrim. That’s great! Oblivion is an excellent game (I reckon it’s better than Skyrim) and you’ll probably have a blast with it.

That being said, Oblivion is also pretty different to the kind of Elder Scrolls game you might be familiar with, so it’s worth reading up on a few quickfire tips before going in with no idea about what’s happening. Skyrim streamlined quite a lot of Oblivion’s systems for a more mainstream audience, meaning that there’s loads of stuff you’ll need to do here that might not seem immediately obvious. Don’t worry, though — us old school Elder Scrolls heads have you covered.

Learn On Easy

The first thing you’ll want to do is pull the difficulty right down. Oblivion works differently to Skyrim in that the leveling system isn’t quite as intuitive. The best way to learn how it works is to ensure you’re actually gaining levels instead of dying all the time. This is a game in which builds matter way more than they do in Skyrim, and even if you made a mockery of Dragon Priests in the Land of the Nords, you could find yourself getting smacked around by an ordinary citizen in Oblivion — which happens far more often than you might think. It’s not easy to just pump points into One-Handed and Destruction and leg it around as a battlemage — if you invest points in skills that are incompatible with one another, you’re going to make life incredibly difficult for yourself.

Don’t Be Afraid Of Preset Classes

I personally think Acrobatics is the best skill to level up, especially in the early game, but it really depends on what kind of playstyle you’re after. Just remember to lean into magic, melee, or ranged weapons, and to ignore skills that have nothing to do with your chosen vocation. I’d probably recommend just using the preset classes that’s closest to what you want until you get to see how skills, attributes, and perks all fold into one another and have relatively less ostensible progression than in Skyrim.

Magic Is Broken

Once you’ve got the hang of things and feel comfortable enough to ramp the difficulty up again — or not, it really depends on your own personal preference — it’s worth looking at how magic works in the game. The major difference between Oblivion and Skyrim in this guard is that you can create your own spells in Oblivion, some of which are frankly absurd. While you might think this means raining down fireballs that deal a million damage, it’s usually more effective to lean into Restoration or Alteration, which allow you to design wildly powerful support spells that can aid any class.

Remember, You Need To Sleep To Level Up

There’s also the actual process of leveling, which isn’t automatic. Essentially, you need to upgrade your skills by at least ten points in order to be eligible for gaining a level. However, this level isn’t added on acquisition of the tenth point — instead, you need to go and have a little nap. When you wake up, all nice and rested, your overall character level will have increased by one.

Levelling has pros and cons in Oblivion. On one hand, most of the gear you get in the game scales with your level, not just in terms of using it, but in that acquiring the same quest item at levels 10 and 15 will impose a noticeable difference on its quality. Most faction items like the Shrouded Armor should be left until later in the game, otherwise they’ll be near useless by the time you reach the end of the story. Enemies also scale with your level, meaning that every time you level up, the fights you engage in will become markedly tougher. The most important aspect of leveling, though, which outweighs everything else in this paragraph, is that gaining a level allows you to increase your attributes, which are sort of like skills within your main skills. If you don’t do this, your health won’t increase, nor will your damage output or Magicka and stamina.

All of this feeds into why it’s so important for you to practice on a preset build before trying your hand at your own unique buildcrafting. Between scaling gear, scaling enemies, and the major/minor skill/attribute split, you’ve got a lot going on and an unfortunately high chance to soft-lock yourself into being too weak in the late game, meaning you’ll need to farm side quests just to bring yourself back up to speed. You can also farm levels by repeatedly jumping your way up hills and gradients, which will ramp your Acrobatics skill right up, or by farming Sneak experience like how you would in Skyrim. Just remember that once you’re detected in Oblivion, you’re detected — you can’t just move an inch to the left and the guard won’t see you anymore.

Talk To Everyone You See

Speaking of which, trying to stay hidden all of the time in Oblivion is a bit pointless, because you’ve got to actively speak to NPCs to unlock major quests. It’s worth starting faction lines like The Fighters’ Guild, The Mages’ Guild, and The Dark Brotherhood early, but don’t do the later missions until you’re a decent level. Remember, you can get pretty great gear from these quests, so choosing to earn it early on just locks you out of obtaining more powerful variants of it later in the game.

Don’t Bother Exploring Oblivion Gates Too Much

In terms of the main quest, it’s worth knowing that you can just speedrun the Oblivion Gates. As in, there is rarely a case in which you need to explore the whole plane or kill every single enemy you see. Just get to the top of the relevant tower and obtain the necessary item, at which point you can head back to Cyrodiil without spending hours wandering around for no reason. It saves a lot of time and although the lava is cool to look at, there’s really no need to spend ages there when you could be doing far more intriguing side quests back in Bruma, or Skingrad, or the Imperial City.

If I could offer specific advice, I’d say to pick a Dark Elf and focus on a mixture of magic and melee. I’d do loads of dungeons right from the start to farm experience and items to sell for cash, then make a start on the main story and faction quests after getting a decent grip of how leveling, combat, and mission progression works. Once you’ve got a handle on that, Oblivion isn’t half as intimidating as it might initially seem, and the main story is loads better than the one in Skyrim. With that said, all that’s left is to have a good time — enjoy yourself in Cyrodiil.

Basic Leveling for Noobs

So leveling in this game is based off of leveling up 10 of your “major” skills. Keep this in mind… Now here is where most people fail to pay attention… Every skill is governed by an “Attribute”, each time you level an skill, it helps you increase the attribute once you level up.

  • When you level up, you can only choose 3 attributes to level.
  • Every 1-4 skill increases will give you a +2 towards that attribute on the level up.
  • Every 5-7 gives a +3.
  • Every 8-9 gives +4.
  • 10 or more gives the max of a +5 bonus towards that attribute.

Essentially with all this in mind, your going to want to typically try to level not just the skills within your class, but the skills that will level the attributes you need the most.

Keep this in mind when you making your starting class. Your going to want to avoid picking a purebred class like mage if you only play in that style since you will be leveling to fast and focused to make the most of those bonuses.

Another few notes:

  • Luck does not have any skills it governs, but has a hidden effect that will boost all skill points by a tiny bit without displaying that effect in your stats.
  • Luck is a good option if you don’t have enough bonuses to take advantage of due to rapid leveling.
  • Always remember to train 5 times at each level because that is the max per level.
  • Use training on skills you don’t use to make the most out of attribute bonuses.
  • It is unwise to level before training 5 times.
  • Try to count your skill increases and figure out what your bonuses will be on your next level up.
  • Plan for your max level to land around level 40-50 depending on your starting skill levels from racials and such.
  • Remember that your class “type” (Combat, Stealth or Magic) will effect how quickly those types of skills will level.
  • Magic skills are the easiest to level since you can cast those on yourself and they count towards leveling them.
  • Destruction magic can be easily leveled after gaining access to custom spells where you can create a disintegrate armor on SELF that will help level both your armorer skill and destruction.
  • Hold off on reading skill books (usually 25 gold value or more) until your a high level (at least level 20).
  • Daedric items are the highest tier items in the game for basic armors and weapons. Glass is the highest light armor. These spawn in at level 20 and will be the last time you will get a new tier of weapon. Considering that you cant improve the weapons like you can in TES 5 Skyrim, your going to have to keep in mind that leveling past this point will make the game more difficult unless your character has the stats to compensate for the lack of newer level gear… so level 40 is going to be nearly impossible to play on normal difficulty with a poorly made character.

Making Easy Money

The Good Loot

Outside of Cheydinhal at the end of the road heading North-East out of the city, there is Fort Farragut. Coming from the road and facing the front of the fort, there is a big tree that is hollowed out on a side that will reveal a trap door to the end of the dungeon. If you cant find it just go through the fort normally. At the end of that dungeon, there is a barrel with a very hard lock on it, so bring plenty of lockpicks and save your game before attempting. It takes some practice, but listen to the tumblers and watch the movements carefully to get that lock open. Inside you will find several poisoned apples that will respawn after a few days. You should be able to sell them for a little less then 2k gold, each time you do this run (every 3 or so “in game” days).

The Best Merchant

The best merchant that you can haggle with to get the best prices is “Nilphas Omellian”. He is located within the Imperial City’s market district’s “The Merchants Inn” and he buys items in value up to 2k gold and he is only an apprentice trader, making him a good option to sell items to. He is only there if you have the “Fighter’s Stronghold” DLC.

Trying to Get that Meta Build

  • Do quests late game and focus dungeons early. The reason for this is that the quest rewards are leveled to you, so you may want to put off these quests so you can get the highest level version of that reward item that is possible. You can use a quest item leveler mod if you wish, but for vanilla its best to hold off on the quests that give the items you want for that final build of your character.
  • Obsessively manage to try to get a +5 attribute bonus on every level up. If you want to get 100 in everything, you can do so by picking the “Thief” birthsign and choosing luck on every levelup while getting +5 bonuses every time on the other 2. It is difficult and uncomfortable to attempt this, but it is doable.
  • The Ring of Perfection, Mirror Shield, Sorcerer’s Ring, Ring of the Iron Fist and the Ring of Vitality are a few high level randomly found enchanted items that you can find that you’ll want to hold onto for your build. They are all incredibly powerful.

Good Mods to Consider

Morroblivion

This mod is a fantastic port of TES 3 Morrowind into Oblivion where you can play both games with the same character. This opens up so many possibilities of character design with the new items and gear you can get as well as the spells and abilities. The mod was ported rather then made from scratch, so its the same game you remember TES 3 Morrowind being… except it has an Oblivion skin on it graphically with TES 4 Oblvion’s RPG and combat system as well. Point is that its true to the original. The mod is located on the TES Renewal site for Morroblivion.

Oblivion Reloaded

Great for a good graphical enhancement and not to difficult to install. Its settings can be modified in game and its generally rather stable if installed right. The mod can be found on its own site or on Nexus.

Unmentionable Adult Mods

I cannot really say to much about this, but TES 5 Skyrim is rather famous for it and TES 4 Oblivion, while not as famous does have these as well and located on the same unmentionable site. Softer Adult mods are however located on Nexus Mods but game changing and adult gameplay overhaul mods are going to be located on the unmentionable and highly controversial site… Same as TES 5 Skyrim. You will need to find that on your own pal.

Brilliance and oblivion of designer Ignatkin. How does a world-famous scientist live? | People | Society

AiF.ru correspondent Vitaly Kolbasin recalls the touching fate of the Russian designer. His developments, decades ahead of their time, are of little interest today, their creative heritage has been forgotten, as well as the outstanding engineer.

«Shoe» is 157 years old

Rostovchanin Vladimir Ignatkin has about 50 patents for inventions, including patents from foreign countries. A follower of the chief designer of the legendary T-34 tank Mikhail Koshkin, he modernized Soviet tanks and other military equipment. But his main invention he made for the railway.

Vladimir Ivanovich invented a device for the safe braking of railway cars, which is used in the process of disbanding trains from a marshalling yard.

The technology of stopping a car from a hill has not changed since the appearance of the first trains. The picture is familiar to many: when uncoupling the cars, the traffic controller runs after the “barrels” and slips a brake shoe under the wheelset. Sparks, rattles, accidents are not uncommon. The trains are still slowed down by a shoe that is 157 years old!

An inventor from Krasny Sulin

Vladimir Ignatkin was born and raised in the provincial town of Krasny Sulin, Rostov Region. Already in his youth, he showed a strong-willed character — he left for Leningrad, where he entered the Polytechnic Institute. After graduation, he was offered to stay in the city on the Neva to live and work. But the young man went to a factory in Nizhny Tagil to build military tanks, improving the T-34 model.

In the early 1980s, he and his family returned to their small homeland, to Rostov-on-Don. By this time, Vladimir Ivanovich had already become a well-known designer in the USSR. He is the owner of numerous copyright certificates. The scientist enters the offices of city officials, having quickly won the appreciation and respect of the scientific community, he has found influential acquaintances. At 19In 83, a Rostovite was one of the first in the USSR to open his own business. And his design bureau VNPF «Entres» (an innovative research and production company) received lucrative orders.

«Shoeman» was replaced by a children’s device

By the time of the collapse of the USSR in 1991, the scientist created the most important invention of his life — an automated fixer for cars and trains on station tracks. For decades, world-famous scientists have been racking their brains, unable to make a device capable of smoothly slowing down a car going downhill and thereby ensuring traffic safety at the station.

Ignatkin’s design turned out to be ingeniously simple. Remember how in the yards the boys inserted a stick inside the wheel with a hook and joyfully rolled this circle along dusty village and city roads? It was this principle of children’s fun that the Rostovite laid in the invention.

The finest hour of the designer has come!

«Brake» successfully passed all the tests — ministerial, station, and the idea received copyright.

The Ministry of Railways (MPS) and Ignatkin signed an agreement, the specialized Rostov university — the Institute of Railway Engineers — provided the basis for the manufacture of the «miracle brake». The devices were installed at the Bataysk-Sortirovochnaya station and the station of the Moscow Railway. The indicators of the railway workers went up: the carriages from the hills stopped beating against each other, the state of emergency was bypassed.

How a scientist abandoned his home in the USA

Little-known businessmen showed particular interest in the development Leonard Blavatnik and Victor Vekselberg . The first is today one of the richest people in Europe, the second is the president of the Skolkovo Foundation, chairman of the board of directors of the Renova group of companies.

Leonard Blavatnik, a former railway worker, appreciated the prospect of development. Renova and the Rostov designer signed an agreement for the production and release of the mechanism. To obtain a patent, businessman Leonard Blavatnik took Ignatkin to the United States.

“The Americans refused to patent the device, because they did not believe and could not understand the request, because usually large holdings and corporations applied to them for security documents, and I was not familiar to them,” recalls Ignatkin.

That’s why he is a Soviet genius — the designer foresaw every step of foreigners and brought with him a model of the device. On December 28, 1990, the presentation of the project took place, which aroused the delight of officials. The device was patented, the Americans paid in dollars.

The year 1991 was approaching on the calendar — the collapse of the USSR was approaching, there was uncertainty ahead.

After the triumph of the Rostovite, Leonard Blavatnik brought the designer to a two-story American house and said: “Volodya, here is your house, come in and live even now. Let’s take you and your family here to America for a permanent place of residence, the times in the USSR are unstable…”

. How will I leave, because there is my homeland, I cannot leave the employees of the company!

No matter how the future rich man Vladimir Ivanovich tried to persuade him, he was refused.

End of friendship with Blavatnik and Vekselberg

The economic crisis of the 1990s methodically shook the Ignatkin design bureau. In April 1997, the Ministry of Railways terminated the contract with the company, the university took over the training and production facilities, and the «automatic brakes» were decommissioned. For some time, the business was supported by American transfers, but foreign partners also stopped financing.

After the loss of business, many relatives turned their backs on the scientist. Photo: From the family archive

In 1998, another test fell on the shoulders of the engineer — default.

The company was temporarily rescued by Renova Group of Companies, but soon its help ceased.

In the accompanying note to the quarterly report, the economist of VNPF «Entres» wrote to his leader Ignatkin that the company should be closed due to its bankruptcy. Vladimir Ivanovich, brought up on Soviet science and Soviet moral principles, could not adapt to the new face of the country and understand the principle of its existence. He made a decision that quarreled with his relatives. He began to pay salaries to the firm’s employees from his own savings, hoping that his ideas would be useful to the new Russia and the costs would be returned.

Viktor Vekselberg is a frequent guest on the Don, but he no longer remembers his business partner in the 90s, Ignatkin. Photo: Government of the Rostov region

Alas, after a while, the bureau had to be dissolved anyway due to lack of demand.

Vladimir Ivanovich buried his wife, fell ill, retired, becoming an ordinary pensioner receiving state allowance upon reaching retirement age.

Until the 2000s, he was a wealthy person, he was able to buy cars and apartments for his relatives, but today he himself huddles in the “Khrushchev”, on the fifth floor, in an apartment where it flows from the ceiling. And relatives still send reproaches to him about missed opportunities.

Granddaughter — custodian of creative heritage

The only custodian of Vladimir Ignatkin’s creative heritage is granddaughter Polina Efimova .

“It seems to me that grandfather sometimes wants to get out of the circumstances he is in. But he does not despair, writes poetry and, in my opinion, is happy and proud. The only thing is that he hasn’t been outside for a year, and it’s hard for me to accompany him up the stairs from the fifth floor, ”says Polina Yefimova. According to her, grandfather never envied anyone, he always tried to help a loved one. Nine years ago, she accompanied Vladimir Ivanovich on a trip to Moscow. They visited an old comrade who worked in the railway department. In a conversation, Vladimir Ivanovich shared a new idea with an old friend.

“Six months later, I learned from an industry newspaper that the railway officials had carried out grandfather’s idea, but not a word about him was mentioned in the article,” says Polina. “Grandfather was not offended, but on the contrary, he said that he did not regret the hint at all.” But other people received the fee for the «discovery», and no one even called the pensioner and said a word of gratitude …

The old wagons were permanently parked, and the «shoes» still serve the railroad workers. Photo: AiF / Vitaly Kolbasin

Polina follows the introduction of new technologies on the world’s railways and notes that no one has been able to repeat her grandfather’s braking device. The Japanese tried, but they failed. As a result, the profession of “traffic controller” or, more simply, “shoemaker” continues to remain on the railway.

“In Russia, they create scientific sites like Skolkovo, spend huge budget money on future inventions, and for some reason nobody needs the already known developments of scientists,” the granddaughter of the legendary designer wonders. “Meanwhile, the braking device can really be built anew. After all, I keep all the drawings, calculations and documentation of my grandfather. I think his invention deserves to be put back into practice.”

Ukraine is being pushed to the sidelines of world politics, Poroshenko sounds the alarm

Former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said that Ukraine is «trying to be pushed to the sidelines of world politics.» He stressed that he was ready to give the new President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky «connections, authority and advice.» According to Poroshenko, only he can prevent Ukraine from being forgotten in the international arena.

Ukraine is being pushed to the margins of world politics, ex-President Petro Poroshenko said after the G20 summit in Osaka. He also offered his assistance to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian edition of Korrespondent. net reports.

“I strongly recommend the leadership of the state, I am ready to offer my support once again. If you need help with connections, authority, advice, developing a strategy, we are always ready,” Poroshenko said.

According to the leader of the European Solidarity, only he is able to prevent the process of forgetting Ukraine on the world stage. Poroshenko also stressed that Ukrainians should decide the fate of Ukraine.

“In negotiations with partners, I proceeded from the principle “Nothing about Ukraine — without Ukraine,” the ex-president emphasized.

He also noted that now none of the leaders of the world powers had contact with Ukraine regarding negotiations with Russia at the G20 summit.

According to Poroshenko, the situation «after the arrival of the new government» has changed dramatically.

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said on June 30 that the topic of Ukraine at the G20 summit was discussed in a constructive manner, FAN reports.

According to him, the summit participants agreed that it is necessary to resume the dialogue at the highest level «along the lines of the Normandy Four.»

Peskov also stressed that many world leaders agreed with Vladimir Putin’s position on the Ukrainian agenda, that another electoral process, in the sense of the upcoming elections to the Rada, could be a certain inhibitory factor. This may hinder the formulation of a clear position by the President of Ukraine on Donbass.

Ukraine was not invited to the G20 summit. However, on the eve of the G20 congress, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said on television that Zelensky would meet with Putin at the summit.

“I think it’s great that these visits — to Brussels, Paris and Berlin — happened right now, from a temporal point of view. Then there will be meetings in the Japanese city of Osaka, with Putin,» the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.

Zelensky is not invited to the G20 — but only he had to hear about it in the public space. After Klimkin’s statement, Japan had to clarify that the Ukrainian leader had not received an invitation to the summit.

“The President of Ukraine is not on the list of those invited to the summit. Neither the [Japanese] Foreign Ministry nor those responsible for preparing the summit have information about the arrival of the [Ukrainian] president to Japan,” Tokyo said.

On June 18, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, commenting on Zelensky’s words about possible topics of conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, that «there is not much to say about Crimea.»

Speaking about Putin’s first phrase to Zelensky, Peskov noted that the Russian president always starts communication with «the right phrases.»

Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stressed that Zelensky has not yet taken any action as Ukrainian head of state. According to Putin, this is perfectly normal, as Zelensky adapts to the new position and responsibility. The President of Russia noted that he was waiting for a meeting with Zelensky and wanted to get to know the new Ukrainian leader as soon as possible, but so far the Kremlin is taking a «wait and see attitude», reports NSN .
