2022 is over and it’s time to check out what is in store for us in 2023. What champions will we be receiving and what updates does Riot have planned for us?

The champion roadmap gives us insights into what Riot has planned for the Rift in the coming months. This time around we’re getting a CGU, ASU and two new champions that we are aware of. So let’s check out everything Riot has revealed thus far.

Check out our Guides for some of the newest League of Legends Champions:

  • Bel’Veth Champion Guide
  • Nilah Champion Guide

Who is the Next League of Legends Champion?

The next League of Legends champion to be released is going to be none other than a new support champion. Not too much has been revealed yet, but we do know that this champion is going to be male. Many also believe them to be a child, with Riot referring to the support as ‘cute’.

This champion will be using fire to heal his allies with Riot also calling him the ‘fire healer’. So maybe a friend for Annie and Nunu to play with on the Rift, right? We also know that this champion will come from Ixtal, a region that has been almost forgotten by Riot since the release of Qiyana.

When Will the Next Champion Be Released?

This new champion will release early in 2023. There are two more champion releases before him though with Ahri’s ASU, as well as Aurelion Sol’s CGU just a bit ahead of him. But it seems like Ahri’s ASU might drop with the first patch of the 2023 season, and ASol following shortly after so we could see this cute support sooner than we might think.

We are getting some major updates in the coming months, with multiple Mid-Scope Updates and much more:

Aurelion Sol CGU Release in 2023

Aurelion Sol and his CGU will be released in early 2023. Riot already showed off some interesting new abilities that this late game battle mage will receive. He is going to be a mobile mage and still be able to fly, but at least it is fixed and he will fly in various directions now instead of just straight ahead.

  • LoL: Aurelion Sol Rework Delayed

Unfortunately, his CGU got pushed back once, but according to the Aurelion Sol’s main discord, where Rob «Riot KingCobra» Rosa stated that the CGU will drop very early in 2023.

Darkin Assassin Coming in 2023

Riot has been getting complaints that players want more Darkin champions in the game. This goes to show that more and more lore is important to a player’s interest in a champion. Reav3 explained in the Champion Roadmap of August 2022 that they would be releasing a new Darkin champion.

Not much was revealed, but we know that the champion might not be as human as we might think, with Reav3 mentioning a ‘who’ or ‘what’ is holding the darkin weapon – which by the way is the epic dagger you see in the header image above.

In some, now deleted tweets, after the reveal of the Darkin dagger champion, it was also revealed that this champion would be female. So many are expecting a female dog type champion to be making their way onto the rift, but this has not been confirmed yet.

Which Champions Were Released in 2022?

Renata Glasc and Zeri Releases in 2022

The first champion of 2022 was none other than the new Marksman, Zeri. She has received a multitude of nerfs to her kit already and she is extremely strong, especially in pro play as well, but she is also very fun.

If you’re interested to learn more about her, make sure to check out our champion guide video! You’ll be able to master her in no time.

The second champion released in 2022 was none other than Renata Glasc, a strong-willed chem-baroness who owns the underground city of Zaun and you play her the same way. She brought a whole new unique crowd control ability to the game called Berserk.

Renata Glasc is easier to pick up than Zeri, but we also have a guide for you, so you can truly understand how her unique abilities work.

Bel’Veth Released in 2022

Bel’Veth was supposed to be the new monster champion, but Reav3 has noted that while Bel’Veth is considered a creature or monster, she is not the actual monster champion the team is working on. She was released in LoL Patch 12.11 and has taken the world by storm, but if you’re disappointed, don’t worry another Monster champion is on the way, though you’ll likely have to wait for 2023 for them.

Nilah Released in 2022

A second bot lane champion was released in 2022. Nilah is a unique melee bot laner with quick and fun gameplay. With Nilah, we have entered a whole new continent in the east. With the Riot MMORPG being made, adding new regions will make the world of Runeterra even more vast and unique.

K’Sante Released in 2022

The final champion of 2022 was none other than the top lane tank/fighter K’Sante. He is a champion with a high skill ceiling and a lot of skill expression and we expect him to make life a living hell in the upcoming 2023 pro season.

When will the Skarner Rework Go Live?

Skarner was voted to be the next champion to receive a VGU by the League of Legends community. Riot has been busy perfecting the Udyr rework which went live earlier in 2022 and therefore have not revealed much of what Skarner could be like come 2023.

  • Faker’s Net Worth: How Much Has The LoL Star Earned Over His Career?

It has been revealed that we won’t be getting a lot more VGU’s for champions so we expect Skarner to be the only one to receive a visual and gameplay update in 2023. We will have to stay patient to find out more about this unique jungle champion.

League of Legends: This Will Be The Next LoL Champion

K’Sante was just recently released in League of Legends, so now it’s time we look ahead at the next champion and this one is going to be a unique, cute new supporter. Are you ready for the next LoL champion on Summoner’s Rift?

Leage of Legends: The next champion is going to be an enchanter! | © Riot Games

The next LoL champion is going to make his way into the bot lane. During the August 2022 Champion Roadmap, it was revealed that there were two new champions in the works, one of which being a Darkin while another was a male enchanter from Ixtal.

While during the stream it seemed like the Darkin champion would be the next to be released, a few things have changed during development and it seems that the next new LoL champion is going to be none other than the support champ in the bot lane. So let’s go over what we know of this new character on Summoner’s Rift.

  • LoL Patch 12.23 Buffs & Nerfs | The Final Patch
  • Pick up the League of Legends Novel Ruination

What Role Will the Next LoL Champion Have?

As already mentioned, the next League of Legends champion is going to be a support champ. This new champion is going to be the first male enchanter in the support lineup according to the August Roadmap in 2022.

In 2022 we received Renata Glasc, who has been an incredible pick both in solo queue and pro play, and it seems like in 2023 we will be getting another enchanter in the bot lane. The last time we got a tank support was Rell in 2021, but she is already on the list to receive a Mid-Scope Update since her kit hasn’t resonated with players.

New Enchanter Support Abilities: What We Know

In a recent interview for Riot China a few hints were dropped for the upcoming healer in League of Legends. It seems like they will be young, since the devs kept calling him ‘cute’ and ‘little healer’. He will also be using fire to heal his allies.

  • Need a Christmas Gift for a friend? Get them Ruination, the League of Legends novel!

Since the champions released in 2022 were on the more difficult scale for gameplay, the new enchanter support will be much easier to play with Riot having decided to make them much more simple to understand and master.

When Will The Enchanter Support Be Released?

According to the sane dev interview with Riot China, it was revealed that the champion would be released sometime in early 2023. Before the release of the ‘cute support’ we will be getting Ahri’s ASU, as well as the long-awaited Aurelion Sol CGU though.

  • LCS Roster Changes: Bjergsen and Doublelift To Reunite at 100 Thieves

So don’t expect the bot lane enchanter to make his way onto Summoner’s Rift within the first few patches of the 2023 League of Legends Season. After the male healer we will be receiving the newest Darkin as well.
