Horizon: Forbidden West

«Horizon: Forbidden West» ist das Sequel zum gefeierten «Zero Dawn», dem ersten Action-RPG von Guerrilla Games (zuvor bekannt für die FPS-Spiele der «Killzone»-Reihe). «Forbidden West» nimmt die Protagonistin Aloy mit auf eine neue Reise zu nie zuvor gesehenen Orten wie dem postapokalyptischen San Francisco. Der neueste Teil erscheint sowohl für PS4 als auch für PS5 und spielt auf einer sterbenden Erde. Aloy erhält neue Werkzeuge und Waffen und macht sich auf den Weg, um weitere Stämme zu treffen, die sich dank der KI-Systeme der nächsten Generation lebendiger denn je anfühlen sollen.
Der Kampf zu Ross ist «Elden Ring» gelungen: Er ist unterhaltsam wie fordernd.
Elden Ring

Mit «Elden Ring» hat From Software ganz große Ambitionen: Es ist das erste Open-World-Spiel des japanischen Studios. Das Kampfsystem hält aber an den bewährten Prinzipien von «Dark Souls» und «Bloodborne» fest. Fans müssen sich also nicht sorgen, dass der Kult-Entwickler vom Weg abkommt. Im Gegenteil: Der kürzlich durchgeführte Closed-Network-Test hat gezeigt, dass das kommende Spiel – Ergebnis einer beispiellosen Zusammenarbeit zwischen Hidetaka Miyazaki und George R.R. Martin – immer noch sehr herausfordernd ist. Allerdings bietet es einige der Neuerungen, die man von einem Open-World-Titel erwartet: etwa ein Pferd, mit dem man die Welt schneller durchqueren kann. Und eine Karte soll dafür sorgen, dass sich Kämpfer und Kämpferinnen in einer so großen Umgebung nicht verirren.

Das nächste große Projekt der Bethesda Game Studios kommt auf PC, Xbox Series X|S und in die Cloud via Xbox Game Pass. «Starfield» ist ein Action-RPG in den Sternen, das in den frühen Tagen der Raumfahrt spielt. Im Mittelpunkt stehen Erkundung und Rollenspiel. Zockerinnen und Zocker erstellen ihren eigenen Charakter und besuchen mit ihm spannende Orte im Weltraum, darunter außerirdische Metropolen und exotische Planeten. Das riesige Abenteuer stammt von den Entwicklern der «The Elder Scrolls»-Spiele. Die können als auch noch was anderes als «Skyrim»-Neuauflagen.
God of War: Ragnarok

Jetzt ist es an der Zeit für die 2022er-Titel, die noch kein festes Veröffentlichungsdatum erhalten haben. Viele davon könnten sich durchaus verzögern – etwa «God of War: Ragnarok»: Das soll zwar offiziell 2022 erscheinen, könnte aber einer der Titel sein, der noch etwas länger im Ofen bleibt. Das zweite und offenbar letzte Kapitel in der nordischen Saga von Kratos und Atreus wird die Fans mitten in den Fimbulwinter versetzen, den kältesten Winter aller Zeiten und Vorbote der Endzeit – Ragnarök. Das bringt neue Gameplay-Möglichkeiten mit sich, wie das Überqueren von vereisten Seen auf einem Schneeschlitten und mehr.

Es war lange verschollen, aber der neueste Titel der Hack-‘n’-Slash-Reihe von Platinum Games wird nächstes Jahr endlich veröffentlicht – und zwar exklusiv für Nintendo Switch.
Die Entwickler haben «Bayonetta 3» schon 2017 angekündigt, aber der Titel ist erst vor ein paar Monaten von den Toten auferstanden. Ein langer Trailer präsentierte ein vertrautes, aber überzeugendes Gameplay und entfachte eine Debatte über die wahre Identität der Protagonistin. Jetzt braucht es nur noch ein tatsächliches und möglicherweise festes Veröffentlichungsdatum.

Apropos Leute, die Ihre Fans warten ließen: Rocksteady ist sieben Jahre nach «Batman: Arkham Knight» mit einem neuen Spiel zurück. «Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League» wird jedoch ganz anders sein und bietet Koop-Gameplay für vier Spieler – mit der Möglichkeit, Superman, Wonder Woman und andere Helden als Mitglieder des «Suicide Squad» zu verprügeln. Lustigerweise spielt «Kill the Justice League» im Gegensatz zu «Gotham Knights» (soll ebenfalls 2022 erscheinen) im Arkham-Versum.

Eines der besten Spiele der letzten Generation (wenn nicht sogar das beste) kehrt mit einer Fortsetzung zurück. Und vorerst heißt es auch so – «The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Sequel» – denn Nintendo ist besorgt, dass der tatsächliche Titel zu früh zu viel von der Geschichte verraten könnte. Fans glauben, dass es etwas mit dem fiesen Halunken Ganon zu tun hat. Der Entwickler zeigte bisher nur einen kurzen Blick auf das Gameplay, aber es ist bereits klar, dass sich die Lüfte ähnlich wie in «Skyward Sword» durchqueren lassen. Das wiederum bedeutet, dass Spielerinnen und Spieler eine noch größere offene Welt erkunden.

1. The Callisto Protocol
The Callisto Protocol releases on December 2nd for PC, PS4, PS5, XBO and XSX.
The single-player sci-fi horror game is being developed by Glen Scofield, best known for the Dead Space series. We previously wrote about publisher Krafton’s original plans to tie Callisto Protocol to the Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds universe (Krafton is behind PUBG), but then the approach changed. It’s probably for the best. So, earlier Scofield said that Callisto Protocol became an independent project, but some hints of PUBG remained in it.
As for the plot, Callisto Protocol will tell about the Black Iron prison colony of the 2320 sample, located on Jupiter’s moon Callisto. Everything here is run by the United Jupiter Company, which, apparently, is engaged in not only direct duties.
The main character will be the pilot of the cargo ship Jacob Lee — he is engaged in the delivery of a mysterious cargo, but crashes and falls into the Black Iron. Here he encounters mutated people — biophages. Everything is very reminiscent of the same Dead Space, but time will tell whether for good.
An interesting point: in Japan they refused to publish the game, because they could not assign an age rating (according to local censors, The Callisto Protocol is too cruel, and the developers did not meet halfway and did not change the content).

2. Marvel’s Midnight Suns
Marvel’s Midnight Suns releases December 2 for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns was scheduled to release in either Summer or Fall 2022, but has since been pushed back. You can understand what awaits gamers by two main points: the game is made in the Marvel universe, and the Firaxis studio, which has been active with XCOM in recent years, is developing it.
So there should be no surprises, and the target audience is drawn immediately. Characters from the Midnight Sons, Avengers, X-Men and Runaways comics will drop in here, and the main character named Hunter is customizable to the needs of gamers. 3. Need For Speed: Unbound
Need For Speed: Unbound releases December 2nd for PC, PS5, Xbox One and XSX.
The game, which is the 25th in the Need For Speed series and on which several generations of street racers grew up (however, the former flair somehow shabby), hardly needs an introduction, although expectations are cautious.
The game location will be the city of Lakeshore, the prototype of which is Chicago — it is associated more with gangsters and Prohibition than with racing. The world of the new Need For Speed is promised to be “very open”, and all activities are tied to street racing, the police have not gone away: they will “warm up” from your traffic violations and actively resist them. Declared customization of wheelbarrows, it is separately noted that those who wish will be able to remove the front and rear bumpers (!).
Need For Speed: Unbound is developed by Criterion Games, which has retired from the series for a while, with 2010’s Hot Pursuit and 2012’s Most Wanted being the latest. The second moment inspires certain hopes. In addition, EA previously announced a merger with Codemasters Cheshire studio Criterion. And this is the second aspect, adding extra points to Need For Speed: Unbound.

Forspoken releases January 24 for PC and PlayStation 5. new project — Forspoken. It must be taken into account that Luminous Productions is a division of Square Enix and the company is unlikely to choose «just a studio» for a game from the Final Fantasy series.
According to the project lead, Forspoken is fast paced and flexible, with Takeshi Aramaki characteristically voicing it by likening the gameplay to water. 5. Dead Space
Dead Space releases January 27 for PC, PS5 and XSX.
Another legend on the current list, but not even a continuation, but a remake. It will help to remember the past, only to do it with style and beautiful graphics. Dead Space was expected back in the fall, but the game suffered a standard fate — a transfer.
Updated and refreshed Dead Space will receive completely new graphics, assets, animation, sound and gameplay.

6. Deliver Us Mars
Deliver Us Mars releases February 2 for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S.
Deliver Us Mars is positioned as a sequel to Deliver Us the Moon. It was an entertaining (after a radical rework) puzzle from the Danish studio KeokeN Interactive. The main advantage of the first game was its simplicity, wrapped in a sci-fi wrapper. In some ways, it can be compared with FAR: Lone Sails — the same depressing, uncomplicated and short.
Deliver Us Mars will be the continuation of the adventure (more precisely, a sad journey through a lifeless planet). The games are connected by plot: the events of the new one take place 10 years after Deliver Us the Moon, the main character will be Katie Johannson, who is mentioned as a child in the records of the first KeokeN puzzle.
Developers will have to work hard not to release a clone of their own project: there were very few game mechanics in Deliver Us the Moon, the setting is also easy to remember, so the tracing paper will be immediately noticeable, and this is unlikely to add popularity to the game.

Atomic Heart releases February 21 for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S.
In 2019, when Atomic Heart was already on the list of “most anticipated”, we paid attention to it because of the chosen setting: an alternative era and the Soviet Union of the 50s of the last century (at the beginning of 2022, we assumed that we won’t see the game this year — that’s what happened). So Atomic Heart has been developed for a long time and painfully (with a restart, according to the available information), its release has been postponed several times, now nothing portends changes, but there is still time.
The developers describe the project as follows: this is the story of an alternate reality in which the Second World War gave another impetus to the development of robotics and other advanced technologies. Everything could have gone well, but, as happens in all dystopias, it did not work out, and technology got out of control.
The action RPG will have a lot of running, shooting — this is the main idea of Atomic Heart.

Unbelievable but true: KSP2 was supposed to be released in the spring of 2020, then it was postponed, and autumn 2021 sounded in pessimistic forecasts. Coming to the end of 2022, Kerbal Space Program 2 is planned only at the end of the winter of 2023 (and it will be early access).
Technically, Kerbal Space Program 2 is a space flight simulator in which you have to design your own ships, build bases, establish colonies, and generally conquer the expanses of the universe.
All this to do with fun and competent physical models. And yes, it’s not an easy game.

Like a Dragon: Ishin will take you to 1860s Kyoto, where a samurai will try to fight against the inequality that prevails here.
