Neues mario party switch 2022: Every game coming to Nintendo Switch Online in 2023

Every game coming to Nintendo Switch Online in 2023

Nintendo Switch Online is growing at a rapid pace, with a raft of new Nintendo 64 classics set to hit the service over the coming months. If titles like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Mario Kart 64, and Pokemon Snap aren’t enough to satiate your palette, there’s good news – Nintendo is showing no signs of slowing down.

Mario Party and Mario Party 2 are the latest games set to launch on Nintendo Switch Online, with both landing on the platform on 2 November 2022. Each has online co-op functionality, which means you’ll be able to take on your mates in a range of classic mini-games, no matter your distance.

But they’re not the only games set to arrive on the subscription platform in the coming months, with Nintendo recently detailing a range of new arrivals set to land in 2023.

Read: Mario Party Superstars Review – Back to basics

While there are currently no monthly game release set for December, 2023 is absolutely stacked with classics.

Here’s what you can expect to land in the first half of the year:

  • GoldenEye 007
  • Mario Party 3
  • Pokemon Stadium
  • Pokemon Stadium 2
  • 1080° Snowboarding
  • Excitebike 64

These are not dated just yet, but you can expect them to roll out over a number of months.

Frankly, the lineup of 2023 reads like a smorgasbord of hits. The Pokemon Stadium series is wildly underrated (and deserving of a follow-up), and GoldenEye 007 is a veritable classic. It’s not often that licensed games break the mould to become smash hits in their own right, but the fact that we’re still speaking about GoldenEye 007 is significant.

If you’re looking for a solid retro shooter, await this launch with bated breath.

While Nintendo has yet to announce further games for the service, there is still potential for even more hits to land on Nintendo Switch Online in future. Diddy Kong Racing would be a fantastic inclusion, as would other hits like Mischief Makers, the original Super Smash Bros., Conker’s Bad Fur Day, or even Harvest Moon.

While some games are understandably caught up in licensing and rights issues, there’s no reason we can’t hope for more. The Nintendo 64 is a phenomenal console, and a Nintendo Switch Online expansion could do even more justice to this iconic era of gaming.

Until we learn more about the future of the service, you can look forward to the incoming launches of Mario Party and Mario Party 2 on 2 November 2022.

Mario Party games scheduled to hit Switch Online next month

While it might not be the GoldenEye 007 update you were hoping for, Nintendo has now announced Mario Party for Switch Online. Now scheduled to land on Switch Online starting early next month, Nintendo is bringing both of the original Mushroom Kingdom party games to its membership service to enjoy with friends and family over the holidays. Head below for more details.

Mario Party for Switch Online

After bringing the original Earthworm Jim to Switch Online back in September alongside ALISIA DRAGOON and action RPG Beyond Oasis, it’s time for the N64 library to get an update.

Nintendo took to its official Twitter account recently to dish up details on the latest additions to the N64 Switch Online Expansion Pass offerings with the original Nintendo 64 Mario Party games (the original and the sequel).

The original Mario Party game launched back in 1998 for the Nintendo 64. Developed by the folks at Hudson Soft, it delivers a sort of interactive board game that has Mario and friends teaming up and going up against each other in a series of minigames. It was followed up by a sequel the following year and revived for Nintendo Switch in 2018’s Super Mario Party and more recently in Mario Party Superstars. But starting November 2, Switch Online Expansion members will be able to enjoy the N64-era titles included with the price of the subscription:

Party like it’s the year 1999 (and 2000)! Hit some Dice Blocks and become a Super Star in #MarioParty and Mario Party 2, coming to #NintendoSwitch for #NintendoSwitchOnline + Expansion Pack members on 11/2! #Nintendo64 pic.twitter.com/gkoPmAPFUk

— Nintendo of America (@NintendoAmerica) October 21, 2022

While the Expansion is required to enjoy Mario Party for Switch Online, folks looking to get into the NES and SNES libraries can land a year of the base tier for just over $18.50 on Amazon right now, down from the usual $20.

Likely even more exciting for most was the announcement of the classic GoldenEye 007 Nintendo dropped last month. We still have no launch date details, but we did go over everything we know so far about the beloved FPS title coming to Switch and Xbox right here.

In the meantime, dive into our hands-on review of the new Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, one of the most exciting releases to hit the Switch thus far in 2022.

list of the best games in the Super Mario series

An Italian plumber with a mustache and a penchant for jumping over the heads of his enemies is one of the most popular video game characters in the world, if not the most.

Of course, we are talking about our common childhood friend: Mario!

It’s been over 40 years since the world first saw Mario in the 1981 arcade classic Donkey Kong, and the character has appeared in many games since (the Mario Wiki estimates somewhere around 170). They range from classics like Super Mario World on the Super Nintendo to Hotel Mario and Mario’s Time Machine. nine0003

Why, Mario is even in smartphones!

That’s why we decided to create this list: we’ve rounded up the best Mario games in the history of the franchise.

Donkey Kong (1981)

  • Platforms: Arcade

Not everyone knows about it, but for the first time Mario appeared not in his own game, but in Donkey Kong in 1981, created to compete with Pac-Man. Here the hero tried to climb onto the upper platform, dodging the barrels that the enraged Donkey Kong threw down in order to save the girl. The game was a huge success, released on many platforms, and Mario got his own franchise. nine0003

Super Mario Bros. (1985)

  • Platforms: Nintendo Entertainment System, Arcade

None of the standards that have been set by dozens of games in the Super Mario franchise could have been set without the original Super Mario Bros, arguably the best game of all time.

Creator Shigeru Miyamoto has explained many times that the design of the game is brilliantly focused on teaching the most basic skills like the long jump and then passing various challenges with those skills. nine0003

It is this design philosophy that has inspired hundreds, if not thousands, of games created by developers around the world.

Super Mario Bros. set a new paradigm in terms of challenge, intent, design philosophy, and player expectations. It’s the game that spawned some of the world’s most recognizable characters, inspired generations of game developers, and helped revive the struggling gaming industry at the time.

Buy

Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels (1986)

  • Platforms: Family Computer Disk System

The Lost Levels was developed as a sequel to Super Mario Bros. Using the same visual style and basic game mechanics, the title featured an increased level of difficulty and a difference in the behavior of the brothers: Mario was more controllable, but Luigi jumped higher. This is one of the most difficult games released by Nintendo, and for that it is appreciated by fans.

Buy

Super Mario Bros. 2 (1988)

  • Platforms: Nintendo Entertainment System, Arcade, Game Boy Advance

This might not seem like a good place to start, given that this is not a «real» Mario game, but Super Mario Bros. 2 is fantasy. It is generally known that this is a renamed, slightly modified version of the game, which was already released in Japan at that time, under the name Doki Doki Panic. But what’s the difference?

Super Mario Bros. 2 is an amazing part of the franchise. This is the first title to let you play as Mario, Luigi, Toad, or Princess, each with special abilities: The Princess can freeze mid-jump for a moment or two, and Luigi has a slightly higher jump than anyone else. More importantly, it’s a surreal adventure full of crazy landscapes, crazy enemies, and a bird that shoots eggs out of its mouth. It might not be the part of Mario to start with, but it’s one you absolutely shouldn’t miss! nine0003

Buy

Super Mario Bros. 3 (1988)

  • Platforms: Nintendo Entertainment System, Arcade (PlayChoice-10), Game Boy Advance

When Super Mario Bros. 3 came out in 1990 and defied almost everyone’s expectations of what was possible with the original Nintendo. The game had a big, gorgeous map that was in constant motion, and the levels were full of great contrasting colors. It’s important to note that this was an era when most games had a maximum of three or four colors. nine0003

Super Mario Bros. 3 set a precedent for how the entire series was framed. The title has taken previous installments and added new features carefully, revisiting some of the previous additions. Gone are the character selections and fancy Super Mario Bros. themes. 2, it instead added a plethora of worlds to explore with wildly different themes, new power-ups to collect with insane effects, and a magic flute that could transport Mario to another world.

Buy

Super Mario Land (1989)

  • Platforms: Game Boy

Super Mario Land is the first handheld version of Super Mario that takes the concept of the original NES game and creates something completely new.

It’s still a standard «platformer» game — you start on the left side of the level and work your way through to the right, killing enemies and avoiding character death, but Super Mario Land is full of exciting extras like the submarine (Marin Pop) and the plane (Sky Pop). nine0003

Buy

Super Mario World (1990)

  • Platforms: Super NES, Game Boy Advance

Super Mario World is still the best franchise game ever.

This statement includes all 3D games, spin-off series and any other game related to the famous mustachioed plumber. Super Mario World is the first open-world installment of its kind in the series, and it’s absolutely gigantic. Never before has the scale of the series been so vast, full of secrets, haunted houses and top secret levels full of various bonuses. nine0003

Super Mario World is the quintessential Super Mario game that improves character movement and sets many new standards for the series. The title showcased the full power of the Super Nintendo, a video game console doubted by millions at the time, and was Mario’s first truly epic adventure.

Dr. Mario (1990)

  • Platforms: NES, Arcade, Game Boy, SNES (Satellaview, Nintendo Power), Game Boy Advance

Dr. For some reason, Mario made Mario a doctor, and invited the player to fight viruses by stacking Tetris-style pills falling from top to bottom, combining their colors with the colors of evil creatures. Multiplayer was available in the game, in which players competed on different playing fields, and due to the successful destruction of virus chains, it was possible to add problems to the opponent.

Mario Kart (1992 — 2020)

  • Platforms: Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo 64, iQue Player, Game Boy Advance, GameCube, Nintendo DS, Arcade, Wii, Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, Nintendo Switch, iOS Android

Super Mario Kart started the history of a line of popular racing arcade games, in which the characters of the Mario series competed with each other on ring tracks, using various power-ups: some give protection, others allow you to damage the opponent, others provide an increase in speed.

Super Mario Kart is considered by many to be the origin of the popular kart racing genre, and the fact that many developers have tried to copy this game and its sequels only confirms its greatness. Mario Kart games are also available on today’s Nintendo platforms, with the newest of them all, Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, offering a racing track right in the players’ homes. nine0003

Super Mario 64 (1996)

  • Platforms: Nintendo 64, iQue Player

Now it’s hard to talk about Super Mario 64 in the same way as about other games. This is the sacred cow of video games, and deservedly so. The game set the newest standard to replace the one that was in the mid-90s, and this led to the franchise being loved by an entire generation.

It was beautiful and fun. Incredibly, the game was released more than 20 years ago, and we still remember it! And all because the title taught an entire generation how to properly use the analog stick on the gamepad. It cannot be overstated how significant Super Mario 64 was. nine0003

Buy

Super Smash Bros. (1999 — 2018)

  • Platforms: Nintendo 64, iQue Player, GameCube, Wii, Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, Nintendo Switch

In this series of fighting games, characters from the Mario universe meet characters from other universes: The Legend of Zelda, Sonic the Hedgehog, Metroid, Kirby, Final Fantasy and more. Each of the games in the line is great for parties: this is not a serious fighting game where you need to memorize attack combinations, but a fun brawl in which you can use all available methods to push the enemy out of the arena. nine0003

Buy

Paper Mario (2000)

  • Platforms: Nintendo 64, iQue Player

The Mario franchise is incredibly diverse, featuring games from a wide variety of genres. Including RPGs like Paper Mario. This title was created as a sequel to Square Enix’s RPG Super Mario, and it invites gamers to immerse themselves in the adventures of paper Mario in a paper world. It combines free exploration of the world and turn-based battles based on the basic and unique attacks of the characters. As in any RPG, there are also quests, NPCs, merchants and other attributes of the role-playing genre. nine0003

Mario Party (1998 — 2021)

  • Platforms: Nintendo 64, GameCube, Game Boy Advance, Wii, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, Nintendo Switch

Mario Party is, as its name suggests, a party game. This is a collection of mini-games that can be played in a company, competing on the same screen. There can be hundreds of these mini-challenges, so gamers can easily find their favorite games.

From the very first Mario Party released at 19In 1998, the line received eleven numbered parts and several spin-offs. The best option for a fun time.

Super Mario Sunshine (2002)

  • Platforms: GameCube

Super Mario Sunshine is a 3D platform game in which Mario has to fight injustice: after the villain painted the island where the hero and his friends were resting with graffiti, Mario is forced to clean up the territory, as well as save Princess Peach. The basic gameplay of the project is reminiscent of Super Mario 64, but it is complemented by a new gadget that uses the power of water. With it, you can wash off graffiti and get to hard-to-reach places. nine0003

New Super Mario Bros (2006)

  • Platforms: Nintendo DS

What the Galaxy series has done for 3D Mario games can be said for New, but for 2D. When it appeared on the Nintendo DS in 2006, New Super Mario Bros. became something of a breath of fresh air for the series. The title transformed the graphics, proposed new mechanics and developed the 2D component.

Like Super Mario’s main design theme, the series has been built incrementally over the years. It added wall jumping, which has since become standard in Mario’s repertoire, and a multiplayer mode. nine0003

Excellent New Super Mario Bros. U, the sequel to the original DS for Nintendo’s Wii U console, also added the ability to play cooperatively. As a bonus, this installment has one of the best level designs in the entire series.

Buy

Super Mario Galaxy (2007)

  • Platforms: Wii, Nvidia Shield

In Super Mario Galaxy, Mario travels beyond his planet and travels through the galaxies. It is in every sense a space game that has been praised for its rich gameplay features, including gravity mechanics, level design, soundtrack and setting. Super Mario Galaxy has impressive sales and status as one of the greatest games of all time. Well deserved, of course. nine0003

Buy

Super Paper Mario (2007)

  • Platforms: Wii

Mario debuted on the Nintendo Wii in Super Paper Mario. This is a hybrid platformer and RPG in which the gamer gets the opportunity to switch between two-dimensional and three-dimensional perspectives. The character gradually acquires new abilities, and the game is full of puzzles of varying degrees of difficulty. Super Paper Mario is widely regarded as one of the best Wii games and one of the greatest installments in the Mario franchise. nine0003

New Super Mario Bros. Wii (2009)

  • Platforms: Wii, Nvidia Shield TV

New Super Mario Bros. The Wii was the first mainline game to feature co-op. No more sprinting: gamers now have the opportunity to complete levels together, controlling Mario, Luigi, Blue and Yellow toads. Moreover, players can interact with each other: help get to hard-to-reach places, lift and throw, and so on. The title became the fourth best-selling Wii game. nine0003

Buy

Super Mario Galaxy 2 (2010)

  • Platforms: Wii

Super Mario Galaxy 2 has been the pinnacle of 3D Super Mario games for many years. The title takes the space theme from the first Galaxy game and greatly improves upon it, allowing for a new take on the franchise’s traditional level structure.

In many ways, Galaxy 2 is the best 3D platform game ever, as evidenced by Nintendo’s experience in game development. nine0003

Buy

Super Mario 3D Land (2011)

  • Platforms: Nintendo 3DS

Designed for the Nintendo 3DS, this game takes full advantage of the console’s stereoscopic visuals. Combining 2D and 3D visuals, Super Mario 3D Land provided a delightful experience that was appreciated by critics and gamers alike.

Buy

New Super Mario Bros. 2 (2012)

  • Platforms: Nintendo 3DS

New Super Mario Bros. 2 focused more than other games in the Super Mario series on collecting coins, which were hidden literally everywhere. The developers even added new items that helped in the production of coins, and came up with a new Coin Rush mode that combined high-speed passage of stages and … that’s right, collecting coins. That, however, did not prevent the game from getting high marks and recognition from the audience.

New Super Mario Bros. U (2012)

  • Platforms: Wii U, Nintendo Switch

While New Super Mario Bros. The Wii has become one of the best-selling Wii games, New Super Mario Bros. U pulled the same trick for the Wii U. It’s also a co-op platform game where players have to navigate through a series of worlds filled with traps and enemies, and, traditionally for the series, save Princess Peach, who has been captured by the evil Bowser.

Buy

Super Mario 3D World (2013)

  • Platforms: Wii U, Nintendo Switch

In short, Super Mario 3D World is the best Mario game made in recent years (before the release of Odyssey). It’s superbly designed and looks fresh, and skillfully combines nostalgic gameplay with new features.

Same as Super Mario Bros. 2, players can choose from Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, or Toad, each with the same special abilities as the original NES game. Super Mario 3D World also borrows the map concept from Super Mario World and makes it an explorable world full of secrets. nine0003

Each level in Super Mario 3D World feels like a gift waiting to be unpacked and is a real pleasure to play with friends and family. Quite possibly the best Nintendo title for Wii U.

Buy

Super Mario Maker (2015)

  • Platforms: Wii U, Nintendo 3DS

Super Mario Maker is both a platform game and a rich toolkit for creating your own levels and even entire campaigns that gamers can share with each other by publishing them on the Internet. Given the ease of development and ease of use, even a child will understand the game. nine0003

Paper Mario: Color Splash (2016)

  • Platforms: Wii U

In Paper Mario: Color Splash, the main character is joined by a new character named Huey, with whom the players will rescue Princess Peach from Bowser. During the battles, a card system is used here, and the game world is colored by the players during the adventure. Combining the genres of RPG and action, the game gives gamers an unforgettable experience, for which it has been massively praised by critics.

Buy

Super Mario Run (2016)

  • Platforms: iOS, Android

Super Mario Run was the first Nintendo game for mobile platforms. This is a runner starring Mario, in which the player must control the protagonist while he automatically runs through the level — jump over obstacles and collect coins. The game proved to be of very high quality, but was criticized for its distribution model, in which only the first few levels were free. nine0003

Download (Android) Download (iOS)

Super Mario Odyssey (2017)

  • Platforms: Nintendo Switch

Super Mario Odyssey is a great combination of homage and evolution that doesn’t forget what the series used to be, but also brings new dimensions and gameplay features.

In Odyssey, Mario uses his hat to grab objects and enemies. In this way, you can take control of dozens of different things — from some kind of fireball to a T-Rex. This is a great and interesting game that gives enough reason to buy a Nintendo Switch game console. nine0003

Buy

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle (2017)

  • Platforms: Nintendo Switch

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle brought together the universes of Mario and Rabbids. In the latter, “rabbits” are firmly established — funny, albeit very stupid creatures, very similar to rabbits, originally from the Rayman series. In Ubisoft Milan’s game, Mario, his friends, and the rabbits save the mushroom kingdom by fighting XCOM-style turn-based battles. Despite the ridiculous design and absurd plot, the title received a lot of positive reviews, which was the reason for the development of a sequel. nine0003

Super Mario Maker 2 (2019)

The developers have focused on creating a visual style using origami and confetti, and creatures have appeared in the list of opponents that have not previously been seen in the series. The ratings are as always on top: The Origami King was praised for its humor, design and innovation in the invention of mechanics. nine0003

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

squirrel_widget_140830

Previously released for the Wii U, Mario Kart 8 is getting a graphics upgrade for the Deluxe version on the Switch, which runs at 60fps even in handheld mode.

You also get several in-game bonuses, such as an additional weapon slot that you can pick up while racing, and additional cards. This is one of the best Mario Kart games in years and a must buy for any Switch owner. nine0003

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

squirrel_widget_171846

Along with ARM, this is the best fighting game on the Switch and possibly the best Smash Bros. Despite being a remastered version for the Wii U, this is truly a «complete» edition. Not only is it fast and agile, but it also has a powerful cast of characters to control. And this is one of the Switch games that has been completely embraced by the esports community. nine0003

HANDS

squirrel_widget_141282

This motion-controlled beat-em-up may not be for everyone if you have a few friends and extra Joy-Cons to compete against.

You hold a Joy-Con in each hand and use it to control your fighter’s weapons, hence the name. However, fighters are bionic and have many properties. All this is very similar to Nintendo; This is harmful entertainment even for children. One word of warning though, this is not suitable for Nintendo Switch Lite as it is not suitable for handheld play. nine0003

Mario Strikers: Battle League

squirrel_widget_6772435

Mario Strikers returns to Switch in triumph with an excellent party game that’s perfect for those who love a beautiful game but don’t want to mess with EA’s tired FIFA remakes on the platform. You get fast football action with good interchanges and a Mario Kart style customization system.

Bouncing Online offers many ways to play, with rewards for good performance over time and a really explosive sense of fun at the heart of the game. It is also ideal for families.

Mario Party Superstars

squirrel_widget_6205869

Mini-games galore in this slice of fun for the whole family. This is by far the best Mario Party game ever made, bringing together over 20 years of Mario Party games and board games, and diehard Nintendo fans will find it irresistible. It showcases the Switch’s gaming capabilities in a big way. nine0003

Rocket League

squirrels_widget_171873

Rocket League was a huge success story, with kids of all ages hooked on the bizarre mix of car racing and football. And the Switch version is a wonderful port that supports 60fps, albeit with a slight drop in resolution.

You don’t care, since you can compete from anywhere with a Wi-Fi signal. It also links to other versions of the game so you don’t have to just compete against players on their own Switch devices. nine0003

Mining

squirrel_widget_171909

Minecraft on Switch is the exact same version of the game, available on multiple platforms and replacing the former «Nintendo Switch Edition». Our only regret is that you can’t use the touch screen to select items in your inventory, but otherwise it’s an authentic Minecraft experience.

Switch Sports

squirrel_widget_6715465

Switch Sports is exactly what it sounds like — a new version of the sports game that made a splash on the Wii, with classics like tennis and bowling on board for fun casual matches with friends . It’s best when you’re in a room together, but online modes are also great if you’re flying alone. nine0003

There are new sports such as badminton and chambara, and each of them is interesting not only for beginners, but also for returning professionals. With the lower price, this is no problem for Switch owners.
