Opening packs is a huge part of FIFA 23 Ultimate Team and is one of the best ways to get your hands on top-tier players, but what are the odds for each of the purchasable packs?
When opening packs, you’re usually looking to receive the highest-rated players possible, as these tend to be worth the most amount of coins on the FUT market.
There are exceptions to this rule, such as a long list of meta players, but overall rating is a good way to know if something will be valuable or not at a glance.
When opening packs, anything over 83 OVR will produce a board animation, and then if you get even higher you may find yourself watching a walkout. All of those FUT pack animations are explained in another guide we have put together.

But knowing the chance you have of getting the top players when buying a pack with FIFA Points or FUT coins is always useful, many of which have been confirmed by EA.
FIFA 23 pack weight odds and chances
FIFA 23 packs can be obtained through seasonal rewards in FUT Division Rivals, Squad Battles FUT Draft, SBCs, and even Weekend League.

While knowing the odds of the packs you’re opening won’t increase your chance of getting a top-tier player, it will set your expectations ahead of time.

FIFA Ultimate Team Pack Item Drop Chance
FIFA Ultimate Team shows the drop rate of items in packs*, i.e. the chance of getting players of a certain type with the specified minimum rating in each set. We’re confident that item drop rates will help you make smarter decisions about where to spend your FIFA Points and FUT Coins in order to build the best FUT lineup.
On the FIFA Ultimate Team Shop screen, each pack will display «Show Item Drop Chance» below each pack. Since there are several thousand items in FUT, they are grouped by type (gold, silver and bronze) and rating (OVR). The specified percentage is the minimum probability of getting one or more players of the corresponding rating range and type (i.e. general category).
For example, if a certain type and rating have a 100% chance, you are guaranteed to receive at least one item that matches that type’s description. Keep in mind that the same player can fall into several categories at once (for example, a gold player with an OVR of 83 matches two of the following probabilities at once).
For example, in the Ultimate Team gold premium set, the probability can be specified as follows:
Note: Probability values are for illustration purposes only. In the final version, the actual probability of obtaining a player in the gold premium set may differ from those shown above.
The item drop rate for each pack in FIFA is calculated by simulating opening a very large number of packs of each type in the FUT store. The number of sets opened during a simulation depends on the contents of the sets, but is always sufficient to obtain statistically representative data. With each content update, the probability values are recalculated.
Categories related to specific campaigns, such as ‘Watch out’, have special content.
In some sets, the probability of receiving content in this category may be less than 1%.
Specifies a probability for a specific set only — probability values do not add up. This means that opening each set is a separate event, and when opening multiple sets, the probability of obtaining that item of a certain category remains the same. If you toss a coin three times and each time it comes up heads, the next time you flip a coin it still has a 50% chance of coming up heads.
Dynamic content and new items appear in the current version of FUT on a regular basis, so the probability may change throughout the season. The item drop rates shown at the bottom of the screen are valid as of the specified date.

Opening packs in FIFA 21 Ultimate Team is not only fun, but useful and to the point compulsory activity for players . Of course, when playing Division Rivals you can choose only coins and not open packs, but for Weekend League, FUT Draft and Squad Battles you will receive packs anyway.
