What are FUT Icons and Icon Stories, and other things to know about them in FIFA 19
FUT Icons are essentially classic, legendary players who have since retired from football, but have been brought back to the game in FIFA Ultimate Team. They’re only in FUT, not the standard Career Mode or anything like that, and are ultra-rare cards that, the odd special event aside, will be very hard to find.

FUT 19 ICONS — Steven Gerrard
They’re found in the usual ways — in packs — but unlike regular ‘cards’ in Ultimate Team, they come in three distinct versions. This is what EA means when it talks about Icon Stories: each player with an Icon card actually has three cards that you could find, representing three periods in their career. They’ll have three different sets of stats, and often different positions, too, as well as different images on the cards.
Steven Gerrard is the first player to have his own featured video this year, and the inclusion of three versions of his card in that video again all but confirms Icon Stories will return again for FIFA 19.

10 things to do right away in FIFA 19
As the proverb says: «A good start is half done.» In other words, a good start makes the task much easier. And FIFA 19, like any «game as a service» that has a vibrant community and offers many challenges, requires a lot of attention and respect. But it’s fine if you’re a veteran. What should a newcomer do? How not to break firewood, and not make mistakes that will then be impossible to correct? Find out about it in our material, in which we will tell you about ten things to do in FIFA 19first thing.
No. 1. Remove sound and adjust controls.
In FIFA 19, as in absolutely all other parts, absolutely vile soundtrack. For some reason, it is generally accepted that football is associated with beach-electronic madness. Therefore, the music here is appropriate: obsessive beats, some voiceless singers repeating the same phrases, and, of course, carnival tunes. This is great if you play for Cruzeiro, or conquer the Argentine championship, but what if you decide to choose the Scottish team as your base. Where are the bagpipes and war drums? This is not the case, therefore, in order not to spoil the impression, it is better to remove the music immediately, especially since its assortment is extremely scarce. As for the management, it, compared with FIFA 18, has changed markedly. Therefore, immediately go to the personalization section, and customize everything for yourself, regardless of whether you play on a gamepad or keyboard.
#2. Learn the first tasks and rewards for them.
In FIFA 19, you can miss a lot, or even completely miss it, if you do not study the tasks in the FUT mode and start doing them. They will ask you for simple things: play once in each of the tournaments, do some simple things, such as buying players and placing them on the field. For all this, you will receive small rewards, and after completing the stage (there are 4 in total), four large sets with football players, which is very useful. Similarly, study the weekly and daily rewards in the corresponding section. There you can find a lot of useful things. Especially look for tasks for which they give exchange players. These are special cards, which can then be very well changed in the section with individual selection of teams.
#3. Complete the entire workout.
Be sure to read the list of tasks and rewards — it is very useful and just interesting
As mentioned earlier, controls have changed in FIFA 19. But not only that: the gameplay has changed as well. If you’ve been playing FIFA 18 for a long time, not to mention earlier versions, you’ll be able to play FIFA 19 right away only if you have a natural talent for it. If you are a simple gamer who does not pretend to be an esportsman, then be sure to go through a training session in order to understand how various innovations in the game work. At the same time, do not limit yourself to the most interesting section with shots, but also force yourself to go through tackles, dribbling and passing. This is not only useful in terms of practice, but also in terms of rewards: you will receive experience points, which can then be exchanged for real bonuses, which will be discussed later.
#4. Choose the right stadium.
Many will laugh at this: what does the stadium have to do with it. They look the same and play the same. Far from it. A lot depends on the stadium. Let’s start with the fact that the camera still does not work correctly on some, and when repeated from some angles, we are shown some strange textures of the room under the stands. In particular, this happens at the Spartak stadium — Otkritie Arena. In addition, things as simple and obvious as the sound in a stadium, due to its personal acoustic properties, are complemented by such a thing as a roof. Some stadiums are covered, and some are not. There are high lighting masts, and there are low ones. On such at different times of the day there is different lighting, and not all of it will please you. In particular, Milan’s legendary San Siro stadium has terrible natural light during the day, where half the field is covered in heavy shadow, making it uncomfortable for you to run into it from a brightly lit area. Therefore, it is better to play on the same San Siro in the evening, under artificial lighting.
#5. Remember the schedule of tournaments.
The choice of home stadium must be taken seriously
In FIFA 19 online mode, there are many different tournaments for which they give serious and not so rewards. In order to know what’s what, you definitely need to study the schedule of these same tournaments: when they start, when they end, when rewards are distributed. But since you are already here, and have read up to this point, then you are in luck — get a schedule;
Moscow time.
Monday.
Rewards for Squad Battles: 03:05.
Wednesday.
Team of the Week: 17:00.
Thursday: Division Rivals Rewards: 10:00 AM.
Title awards: 20:00.
Weekend League rewards: 21:00.
Friday.
Start of Weekend League: 10:00.
Knowing this simple schedule, you will always know which tournament to focus on right now, where to push, and which one to leave alone. The best rewards are in the Weekend League, but this tournament requires more time and serious preparation. Therefore, if you are a beginner, then it is better to take up Squade Battle. Firstly, here we are playing against the computer, secondly, you can adjust the difficulty, and thirdly, the rewards are also excellent and sellable. But most importantly, this tournament does not require all of your days off.
No.6. Decide on the league and alignment.
It is important in FIFA 19 to decide on the arrangement and tactics. Now the most popular among players is the 4-3-3 formation, with LFD and LFA as extreme forwards, pressed to the center of the field. Although, there are others, with an emphasis on flank play. Which game decides: flank or center — disputes on this topic do not subside, but these are disputes from the “tomato or cucumber” area. Someone likes one thing, someone else. And the only thing that can be advised: give up the formation with five or three defenders. The first is useless, the second is too adventurous. Individually prepare individual tactics by setting the exact parameters of the team’s behavior. How to do this — we will tell in one of the next materials.
No. 7. Don’t spend, save.
What do you want immediately to someone who went into the network mode FIFA 19? Of course, getting cool players that would be more enjoyable to play. Therefore, a person immediately goes to the transfer market to look for world football stars there, brings money into the game, uses the services of cheaters and makes other mistakes. Of course, you can set yourself such a goal, especially if you plan to play for several hours every day. If there is no such goal, and you play mainly on weekends, then at the start it is better to save money. Especially if you bought the game in the fall. Believe me, it will be very disappointing to see how in January your player, for whom you paid 100 thousand, is worth less than 20. Inflation in FIFA 19monstrous, and if you managed to earn for the first month, for example, a million, then it is better to keep it until the winter, then you will buy a much cooler composition, especially since by that time there will be many new special cards.
No. 8. Activate bonuses for experience points.
Continuing the last paragraph about accumulation: you need to save wisely, correctly activating all the bonuses. You can make money on trading (we will tell you how in the near future), but at the start, nothing will give you as much money as the game itself. Play in tournaments, open sets, and rejoice in what has fallen out of there. By playing a couple of hours a day for a week, with bonuses included, and then selling off what you could earn, you will definitely earn more than a hundred thousand, and if you are lucky with the sets, then much more. But in order to earn not 500 coins per match, but 1500, you need to go to the icon with a shopping cart in the upper right corner, where you can buy a lot of things, from loaned players to contracts for 99 games. However, the most important thing is the extra money for the games. So to speak — lifting. They will help you a lot in the beginning. But don’t activate them all at once. Keep track of when bonuses end and buy new ones before they are completely used up.
No. 9. Refrain from entering Rivals.
Don’t jump right into Rivals. High Risk of Failing Exam
You might want to jump straight into Rivals multiplayer, but if you don’t have the experience and lineup, it’s best not to. The reason is that the system will give you 5 games as an exam. And already, depending on the result you have shown, it will place you in the appropriate division. And it’s better to practice for several days, or even weeks, before you poke your head there, because there is a high risk of flying into all five games, and ending up in the lowest 10th division, where the rewards will not be at all those that you can get, at least in the fifth.
