Doch damit nicht genug: Die besten Flugzeug-Simulatoren bieten Ihnen eine riesige Flotte an – wählen Sie zwischen einer Messerschmidt, Cessna, Boeing 747 oder einem Lufthansa Airbus A320 aus.

Achten Sie bei Multiplayer-Simulatoren ggf. darauf, ob und wie die Kommunikation mit anderen Piloten möglich ist.
Bei einigen Flugzeug-Simulatoren können Sie zum Beispiel ein Mikrofon bzw. Headset anschließen, um mit dem Tower und anderen Mitspielern zu kommunizieren.
Tipp: Achten Sie außerdem auf die verfügbaren Sprachen der Downloads. Bei vielen Flugzeug-Simulationen ist die Basissprache Englisch, was allerdings nicht bedeutet, dass Sie nicht auch deutsche Piloten im Luftraum im Multiplayer-Modus finden werden.
Übrigens: Google bietet innerhalb von Google Earth ebenfalls einen digitalen Gratis-Flug an. Hier gibt es zwar keine aufregenden Missionen und Parcours zu bewältigen – wem es als Hobby-Pilot aber nur um einen entspannten Flug rund um die Welt geht, wird sicherlich auf seine Kosten kommen. Eine VR-Brille macht das Erlebnis noch eindrucksvoller und realistischer.
Nützliches PC-Zubehör für den Flugsimulator
Ein Flugzeug, einen Hubschrauber oder eine Drohne mit der Maus und wenigen Tasten starten und landen zu lassen, kann schnell frustrierend werden – vor allem, wenn Sie mehr als nur einen gelegentlichen Ausflug in den digitalen Luftraum planen.
Wer seine Cessna, Boing 7474 oder den Airbus A320 vernünftig fliegen möchte, sollte mindestens in einen geeigneten Joystick investieren. Joysticks für Flugzeug-Simulatoren sind ergonomisch geformt und bringen zahlreiche Funktionstasten mit. Der Clou ist ein separater Schubregler: ein zweites Bedienelement, mit dem Sie Ihr Flugzeug realistisch(er) starten und landen bzw. beschleunigen und abbremsen können. Der Schubregler ist entweder fest verbaut am Joystick oder lässt sich abnehmen und flexibel im heimischen Cockpit positionieren. Noch etwas professioneller wird es mit einem realistisch nachgebildeten Steuerungssystem, das aus einem bzw. zwei Steuerknüppeln und mehreren Schubreglern besteht. Wer den Platz und das Geld hat, kann außerdem in einen separaten Sitz und verschiedene Messgeräte investieren – so kommen Sie dem Traum vom Cockpit für Zuhause sehr nahe.

- Realistisch oder spielerisch?
Einige Flugzeug-Simulatoren setzen auf echtes Kartenmaterial und Sie übernehmen die realistische Rolle eines Piloten, andere Downloads haben eher einen spielerischen Charakter, bei dem es weniger um die ganz großen Flugkünste geht sondern eher darum, Missionen zu erfüllen, Gegner zu besiegen und Punkte zu sammeln. - Wer ist der Pilot?

The idea to make a grandiose civil aviation simulator has been in the airspace of the company for a long time (obviously, after Microsoft Flight did not take off), but the scale of ideas, as usual, faced a number of technical limitations .
And it’s not even about the capacities of user systems (although they, of course, are also about them), but rather about the tools for implementing what was conceived — an absolute simulator that would strictly meet the principles of realism, reliability and freedom of action. The solution turned out to be machine learning and cloud computing technologies, which opened up unprecedented horizons for developers …
Much of the game’s content is generated from real world data

Not a simulation — a dream!
During the presentation, the creators of MSFS, perhaps most of all, focused on the achieved level of realism and reliability. And they can be understood — in four years of development, machine learning technologies have learned to create truly convincing simulations of weather, environment, water, buildings, sky, light, and even … grass. A vivid example: in the demonstration of the gameplay, the plane, bypassing the rain clouds, flies to the rainbow — as the authors later said, the seven-color arc does not come out according to the script, but only with reliable refraction of light in humid air.
.. It was impressive!
Lighting is a special pride of Asobo specialists. Plausible both at night and during the day, with reliably scattered rays and glare wonderfully reflected from the water surfaces. The degree of picturesqueness is incredible! On the rivers, seas and lakes, the authors also stopped separately. Reservoirs can be of different structures, shades (brownish water from excess silt or greenish from mud) and conditions — from calm to restless excitement. Unless, unfortunately, tsunamis are not provided.

But if not all weather conditions that exist in nature are presented in Microsoft Flight Simulator, then the significant part of them that got into the simulator is meticulously implemented. A set of temperatures, types of precipitation (both rains and snowfalls), wind speeds — everything affects both the aircraft and the world around. Due to high humidity, fog can form, which will immediately affect visibility, and a sudden cold snap can form ice in engines and lead to disaster.
The developers assure that the weather in MSFS will be dynamic and as close as possible to the current synoptic realities. The game regularly synchronizes data with weather services: if it is evening and rainy in real Sydney, then it will be dark and pouring in the virtual Australian city. But nothing will stop you from setting the game conditions to your liking — outside of the global multiplayer, you can experiment with thunderstorms and winds to your heart’s content.
Settlements surprised no less than the weather delights. In the game segment shown, the plane flies past city buildings at night — illuminated offices and living quarters are visible behind the light-reflecting glass facades. Of course, the simulation of life in the apartments of the Microsoft Flight Simulator world is not provided, and what you see is only the magic of shaders and machine generation, but the effect is amazing. But the traffic on the streets of policies is really simulated, creating a semblance of life on the roads with real speed limits, traffic density and traffic jams.
The authors deliberately (and prudently) abandoned the realism of the crashes. High-speed contact with the surface is interrupted by a black blank screen with the accompanying inscription «You crashed» accompanied by an ominous musical motif
But all this is just a frame for the main element of MSFS — detailed recreations of aircraft! Literally every part of any aircraft is carefully designed not only visually, but also in a technical and physical way. Doors, propellers, engines, landing gear, flaps — everything is done with an eye on how a particular part should function in reality.
The same meticulous approach is maintained in the most important internal part of the aircraft — the cockpit, where each arrow and each indicator show reliable information about the flight and the state of the aircraft. There are also weather radars among the instruments that help prepare for a sharp change in temperature, impending precipitation and storms. The autopilot system has not remained without improvements.
All the technical and graphic delights shown at the presentation, of course, looked promising, ambitious and even fantastic in some ways. To make sure that the «dream sim» is really preparing for takeoff, we decided in practice by jumping into the cockpit of the pre-release version of Microsoft Flight Simulator!

Take off!
The main concern that arose after the MSFS presentation was whether such a titanic project would be able to avoid a cloud of minor technical problems. The very ones that are able to drag even the most colossal flying craft to the bottom of the air pocket. And this concern was not unfounded.
In the assembly presented to us, there were plenty of unpleasant incidents! Of the most critical: difficult first launch (the game worked correctly only after installing it on an SSD), frequent crashes, long loading levels (on the same SSD, the process takes several minutes, and HDD owners, obviously, will be able to get a real flight license during this time) and intermittently jumpy frame rates (from a comfortable sixty to a sudden slideshow).
There were also curious bugs in the style of Skyrim — when the liner was loaded on the runway ten meters above the surface, after which it flopped heavily on the asphalt. These and other annoying trifles so far prevent you from fully enjoying the results of Asobo’s work. But this is «alpha», she is forgiven. And there is something to enjoy!
Mayday, Mayday! Board stuck in a pine tree!
The world of Microsoft Flight Simulator is amazing! That study, which the authors so enthusiastically talked about, is by no means a marketing ploy. The weather conditions are really variable, dynamically replace each other and look amazing (a night thunderstorm, however, in the presented “alpha” causes a sharp drop in frame rate). Cities are recognizable by their architectural monuments and iconic buildings, and the land is full of vibrant life. And what are the local voluminous clouds — almost indistinguishable from those that float past the real window …
The game features several modes — weekly missions with a global rating, challenges and free flights around the globe.
And also training! Here, during several training missions on the Cessna 152, MSFS will turn a green recruit into a seasoned air wolf.
Each piece of equipment has a unique physical model: from a heavy airliner to a light propeller-driven aircraft, they give their own special flight experience. True, although they tried to make control from the keyboard as convenient as possible, you can’t call it comfortable and accurate. The gamepad in terms of maneuvering the ship is much more convenient. Without a doubt, enthusiastic pilots, the proud owners of the flight periphery, are the biggest beneficiaries.
Of the available modes, the most interesting is «Free» with insanely detailed customization of everything and everything from weather conditions, destinations and air traffic (AI controlled or, for example, simulations of real flights that are currently in the sky) to probability damage to the ship and the weight of the pilot! Here you can easily get lost for weeks…

The beginning of the journey
The potential of Microsoft Flight Simulator seems limitless, and, as the authors noted at the presentation, the game is only at the beginning of its journey.
Plans for the post-release development of MSFS are grandiose: from early support for virtual reality helmets (the upcoming HP Reverb G2 will go first, then the rest) to global updates of the project world over the coming years. During a short interview, we asked about some aspects of the development of the simulator.
By the time Microsoft Flight Simulator is released, there should be a toolkit for creating custom aircraft, airports, and even training missions. Developers will support game content creators in every possible way, both by distribution through the in-game store and by social rewards (information about the best creations will be covered on the project website). A pleasant nuance: there will be no link to the trading platform, and each author will be able to distribute their work in any convenient format (and not necessarily for money) — even through their personal website, even through thematic communities on social networks.
Microsoft Flight Simulator is being built with hundreds of partners: data centers, weather services, real engine and panel manufacturers, air traffic control, airports and more!
Speaking of content, we wondered if the hangar was going to be expanded with modern realistic aircraft aircraft from fantastic works of art (we remembered the Boar from Halo, which was a guest in Forza Horizon 3) or retro models in the spirit of the first aircraft of the Wright brothers.
