Hauptquests | Horizon Zero Dawn Wiki

3DNews Games H Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds is…
Hunter, it’s time to pick up a trusty bow and go to the northern lands. They say that a Demon appeared there, — you can’t do without your intervention. But before leaving, read our review — we have prepared a survival guide for you
Horizon Zero Dawn could have been anything but in the end, it turned out to be a solid, interesting game, albeit not without flaws. The main thing is that Guerrilla Games managed to create a surprisingly believable world in which I wanted to stay longer. The Frozen Wilds provides us with just such an excuse. The add-on offers a dozen or two hours of new adventures by Aloy, during which we, along with the red-haired beauty, will have to unravel another mystery of the Forerunners. Since the subject of our conversation is only an addition to the main course, and not an independent addition, we should not expect cardinal changes in the gameplay from it. The Frozen Wilds quests in the quest selection menu are located in the side section and are designed for those who have already completed Horizon Zero Dawn. In addition, the add-on requires at least the thirtieth level of the hero, but even for my fully pumped and well-equipped Ala, it did not seem like a cakewalk. nine0003 Winter theme transforms an already gorgeous looking game This time the girl will travel to a new region — the beautiful snowy lands of the Banuk tribe. In the typical Horizon manner, the developers did not stint on entertaining details: you will learn a lot about the internal hierarchy of the society of the harsh northern inhabitants, get acquainted with their beliefs and traditions. In other words, you will find yourself in a living society where people want to help because of ordinary human sympathy. It cannot be otherwise, because Guerrilla Games added to the DLC not only the main storyline, but also several side tasks, each of which is remembered by bright characters. A trinity of hunters who broke away from the tribe for personal reasons and are trying to get to distant lands, a funny prankster explorer on a dam, an erroneously accused lover of waving his fists — in the framework of the global narrative, the heroes look like grains of sand in the desert and, after your help, go about their business, but their stories turned out to be ordinary, believable and to some extent even touching. nine0003 The main quest is again connected with the technologies of people who lived in the past, but since the action of the add-on takes place before the end of the events of Zero Dawn, there is a slight feeling that the creators deliberately hold their horses and do not really want to reveal more details until the sequel appears. What, however, does not make The Frozen Wilds boring — you will understand why the region has not yet taken off into the air, why we should not have called the programs “daemons” (daemon), and at the same time you will be able to get even more information about the events of the past days. Here you need to once again praise the writers of Guerrilla Games — they have not lowered the bar and constantly throw up some interesting things about a dead civilization. nine0003 Don’t put your finger in the mouth of new opponents. Or a hand. Or a leg. It’s better not to scatter body parts at all, but to run away faster If everything is fine with the plot, then the gameplay is still «sick» with an overabundance of mechanics. New samples of weapons and armor have been added, but they do not play the most prominent role. With one bow, it will not be a problem to get to the very end, and all sorts of exotic specimens that can launch fiery projectiles over long distances will lie idle. In addition, there was a fourth branch of pumping, but, according to personal feelings, it is even more useless than an extensive combat arsenal. The ability to collect resources while riding a robot or repair your mechanical “horse” is, of course, interesting, but in practice you don’t use it, but out of habit you teleport between fires. The only really useful skill is the ability to disassemble items in the inventory, getting half the store value for them. Since the bag is always clogged with a huge amount of rubbish, it can at least be recycled for its own benefit, and not just thrown out onto the road. nine0003 On the other hand, new opponents will not let you relax — many enemies in the Banuk lands are distinguished not only by increased survivability, but also by aggressiveness. Individual instances of machines do jump great distances, hit with fire painfully, and even know how to melt the ground under your feet. With a low level, it is better not to approach the add-on, but experienced hunters are waiting for interesting, moderately difficult fights. Snow worked out as expected. Unless you have to work hard on a couple of very, very, very uncomfortable small arenas that occur towards the end of the DLC. On them you fight not so much with a harsh and evil enemy, but with a camera that is cramped in confined spaces. Because of it, any collision at close range turns into a chaotic flicker of fangs, claws and Aloy rolling back and forth, which is a little annoying and can spoil the overall positive impression. nine0003 However, individual roughness cannot hide the love with which the developers treat their creation. Guerrilla Games could well have gotten away with a standard set of challenges in familiar territories, but instead offered quests that were not inferior in quality to the main game, meticulously worked out a new region and spoke in more detail about the Banuk tribe. Of course, I would like to see more qualitative changes in the gameplay, but here we will have to wait for a sequel. Otherwise, The Frozen Wilds is a worthy addition to a good game and a great addition for those who lacked adventure in the world of Horizon Zero Dawn. nine0003 Merits:
