Heavy Rain is an absolute classic of its unique genre ov videogames. The story of the origami killer can still charm with its blend of mistery and noir ingredients and the remastered graphics are a plus to enjoy it. Unfortunately, the gameplay mechanics feel a little old, but this alone doesn’t really kill the experience as a whole.

Fearing the failure of expensive electric drive components, in non-flying weather, many people switch to public transport, because when the question “is it possible to ride an electric bike in the rain?”, A negative answer comes to mind. Of course, rain is an insidious phenomenon. But if you carefully understand the issue, you can prepare for a sudden meeting with precipitation without compromising equipment. What are we going to help you with now?

A bicycle saves time. But thanks to the engine, the bicycle hybrid copes with the same task much better and better. Contrary to popular belief, you can ride an electric bike in the rain and even in the snow: it moves perfectly on both snowy and wet asphalt.

Let’s single out the basic rules of operation:

• All electrical elements of the bicycle hybrid are well protected from moisture by a strong sealed case. This makes it possible to safely ride an e-bike in a drizzle or gently cross small puddles. But that still doesn’t make a hybrid bike a completely waterproof monster. It is forbidden to cross water bodies with it — a large amount of liquid can seep into protected nodes.
• All important elements are well protected from adverse environmental conditions. Rain does not have a strong effect on the battery, but there is still a danger of accelerated discharge, as well as the likelihood of rust on the terminals. Therefore, despite the fact that all components of the velohybrid are tightly protected, the areas of connection of wires and battery connectors are still sensitive to moisture.
• Protecting the e-bike from moisture involves the use of special bags made of waterproof fabric for the battery and controller. Also in special stores you can buy protective cases that protect vulnerable and expensive parts from water, dirt and damage. In extreme cases, strong plastic bags are suitable for sheltering the controller during sudden rain. Additionally, sealant with silicone will help protect all important contacts.
• It is better, of course, for the e-bike to remain in the garage in the rain. Try not to drive out unless absolutely necessary in a thunderstorm or fog, do not accelerate at high speed. Avoid puddles reaching the bottom of the frame, controller housing and motor. The right decision would be to sit out the non-flying weather under the roof.
• If the electric bike does get caught in heavy rain, we recommend that you immediately turn off all power (computer and battery). Dry the bike thoroughly before connecting again. Remove the battery and put it in a dry place for a day. Next, remove the cover of the controller housing for ventilation. Do not connect the e-bike until you are sure that all components are dry. If you have a suspicion that moisture could remain in the system, do not connect the electric bike in order to avoid a short circuit — contact the service center.

Taking into account the fact that the speed of an electric bicycle is much higher than a simple bicycle, it gets dirty much more. Remember that after riding an e-bike in the rain, it should be thoroughly cleaned of dirt. It is important to organize the procedure correctly. In order to avoid such unpleasant consequences as a breakdown, we do not recommend using the services of a car wash.

Before starting the process, make sure the battery is disconnected. Remember that the controller compartment, battery and electric motor are not technically prepared for washing under powerful water pressure. If this is neglected, a short circuit and system failure may occur. Avoid direct contact with high water pressure on electrical components. It is best to gently wipe them with a rag, and remove strong dirt with a damp sponge and a dry cloth.

Concluding all of the above, let’s remember the famous proverb: «Forewarned is forearmed». By preparing your bicycle hybrid for bad weather in advance, you will eliminate many unpleasant moments and significantly extend the period of its operation.

Riding an e-bike through puddles in light rain will not harm the bike, but traveling under torrential rain does not guarantee its safety. Wait out the bad weather under the roof, or cover it with a film. If this is not possible, turn off the power and ride the e-bike as you would a normal bike. After complete drying, it will be ready for full-fledged trips again. A bicycle hybrid, even if you assembled it yourself using a ready-made electrification kit, is expensive equipment that requires continuous maintenance. With proper care, your e-bike will serve you for many years.

When it comes to road safety, remember that in bad weather, visibility and the quality of the road surface deteriorate noticeably. Getting behind the wheel of a bicycle in a downpour or fog, you are responsible not only for yourself, but also for the safety of others, so be extremely careful and prudent.

I’ve become somewhat sentimental lately. Apparently age, experience, a completely different look at things happening around. So, if earlier I was chasing money, trying to get ahead, now I think more about such concepts as friendship, loyalty, a sense of comradeship, caring for loved ones.

And now, I’m sitting at home, it’s been raining for almost the third week. The schedule is standard: home-work-home, and on weekends — a computer and rare exits to the street. Yearning. Favorite metal detector in the closet, it seems that the tramp is also bored, stagnant, eager to go into battle to walk over the earth, just like I want to find something, climb through the forests. But… rain.

When it rains, work saves

Pulling myself together so as not to waste time, I decided to tell the comrades what to do with myself, when it is raining when it is not possible to search. It turns out that if you think a little, there are a lot of cases, and each of them can grow into a whole direction.

The first thing that came to mind was to sort out the shmurdyak. I open the box with the finds, and systematically begin to sort what was once found. A couple of hours go by like that. I wash something, I look at something again. And what is surprising, almost from 90% accuracy remembers the place where one or another object was found. An interesting activity.
