Although many players on PS4/PS5 could be wondering if they will get the chance also to dive into Halo Infinite, they likely won’t see this become a reality.

343 Industries’ latest title has been released as an Xbox exclusive, meaning that it’s only available to play on Xbox and PC.

This function is becoming more and more common within the gaming world and industry, with console manufacturers and developers making deals and in the process making more money.

For companies like Xbox, making a title, especially one as popular as Halo, will encourage those that are die-hard fans but don’t own an Xbox to buy one.

On the other hand, for the developers, the deal itself would likely be the major incentive.

Although Halo Infinite is an Xbox exclusive, many of these titles have become available on other platforms further down the line, so there’s always a possibility that Infinite will eventually make its way to PS4 and PS5.

On the plus side, if you have a PC and a PS4 or PS5 controller, you can use it to play on a PC, so you’ll still get some sort of PlayStation experience.

We’ll be sure to let you know if anything changes but for now, we expect that this scenario will stay the same for a long time, if not permanently.

Do you think Halo Infinite should come to PS4/PS5? Let us know why or why not below!

Is Halo Infinite Coming to PS4/PS5?

By
Anthony James Puleo Jr.

With Sony and Microsoft collaborating more and more recently, some players are wondering if Halo Infinite might come to PS4 and PS5.

In recent years, collaboration between rivals Sony and Microsoft has seen a drastic increase. More and more games are opening up crossplay options, and titles that one might have expected to be exclusive to one console have managed to bridge the gap to the other. With 343 Industries making what is supposed to be the biggest Halo game yet, many fans are wondering if this cooperation might lead to Halo Infinite releasing on the PS4 and PS5. Every Halo game before it has been Xbox and PC exclusive, but some are hopeful that this is where that trend will end.

Though originally developed by Bungie, the Halo franchise is now developed by 343 Industries. Despite this, the IP is still owned by Microsoft, hence the reason that exclusivity has persisted on both Xbox and PC. Halo Infinite seems to be following along in these footsteps, so PS4 and PS5 players shouldn’t get their hopes up.

To put it plainly, Halo Infinite will not come to PS4 or PS5. Despite this increase in cooperation between the two video game giants, they are still businesses and exclusive games are a great way to get players to buy a certain console. Sony has plenty of high profile PS5 exclusives like Demon’s SoulsReturnal, and more, and Xbox is relying on Halo Infinite to draw some attention. There’s been absolutely nothing to indicate that Halo‘s exclusivity would end, and even if 343 Industries wanted to develop the game for PS4 and PS5, there’s no way Microsoft would allow that.

That said, Microsoft’s approach to Halo Infinite means that PS4 and PS5 players don’t necessarily have to go out and spend $499 on the Xbox Series X. The game also happens to be releasing on the last generation consoles as well, meaning those with an Xbox One can still play Halo Infinite. What’s more, the game will also be the first Halo game to launch concurrently on PC alongside the console release, so players could always take that route as well. This is all to say that there are options for players that can’t stand the thought of not playing Halo Infinite.

There has never been a Halo game on PlayStation consoles, and it is highly likely that this will remain the case forever. The only way this could change is if Microsoft somehow lost the rights to Halo, and that will probably never happen. Instead, PlayStation players will either need to try and get ahold of an Xbox console or a PC good enough to play Halo Infinite.

Halo Infinite releases on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X in 2021.

Halo Infinite Review – Masterpiece? Maybe

Every new Xbox got a new Halo — that’s the law. The current generation has had to wait over a year for their Master Chief adventure series since the console’s launch, but it was definitely worth it. Following on from multiplayer, which was free-to-play for the first time in the series’ history, the epic single-player campaign we’ve been waiting for is coming to PC and Xbox consoles. We have already gone to Zeta Halo with the legendary Spartan and, frankly, we are in no hurry to return. nine0003

  • Developer: 343 Industries
  • Publisher: Xbox Game Studios
  • Release date: December 8, 2021

A new page in the saga

Halo Infinite takes place on Zeta Halo, another huge ring created by the ancient Forerunner race with its own ecosystem, where, in full accordance with the canon of the series, another, to put it bluntly, military failure of the forces of the UNSC — United Nations Space Command took place . nine0003

This is not the first time — events like this underlie almost all the games in the Halo series, starting from the very first part, and in many ways provide the very epic, pathos and anguish for which we love the adventures of the Master Chief. It was not in vain that I remembered the first part — despite the fact that the plot of Infinite is a direct continuation of Guardians and Halo Wars 2, it is somewhat reminiscent of Combat Evolved taken to a new level.

Another ship disaster — but this time instead of a small Pillar of Autumn, the Infinity itself fell, the hope and support of all mankind, perhaps the only large ship of earthlings that is in no way inferior to the Covenant fleet. Again evacuation to the ring and disparate forces of people on its surface. Familiar races of enemies again — however, after the defeat of the old Covenant in the war with humanity, they formed a new organization of the Exiles, but from a military point of view, this does not change the situation. Again the ancient secrets and constructions of the forerunners. Again, a cute artificial intelligence in a female form. And again, only the only hope is the permanent Master Chief, for whom, of course, we play. nine0003

Someone will say that this is a self-plagiarism and a set of clichés of the series and science fiction in general — and, perhaps, they will be right in some ways. As a Halo fan, it’s hard for me to remain impartial to the end, even though I try my best. The plot may be lacking some novelty, but one thing is for sure: Halo Infinite is Halo. The way all the fans love it. And there are plenty of innovations elsewhere.

More life and freedom

Infinite is faithful to the series more «in spirit» than «in letter» and leaves a paradoxical impression in the good sense of the word. If you try to disassemble it into its components, a completely new game is coming out, but as soon as you pick up a gamepad (or sit down at the keyboard and mouse, which are supported even on the console), you again feel like in the long-awaited good old Halo. nine0003

Everyone who followed the development already knows that Infinite is not a «corridor» shooter in the spirit of the previous parts, but a game with a semblance of an open world — huge locations for individual missions. Rather, I would call it stages of the game, because there may well be several missions in one location.

The locations here are really huge and do not restrict the player’s freedom in any way. After a couple of linear missions in the spirit of past games in the series and landing on the ring, you can go anywhere at any time, and all available activities are marked on a beautiful global map. It is convenient to use, although I would add the ability to rotate and increase the maximum zoom. nine0003

The transition to the story and side missions is seamless, and for the convenience of the player, the fast travel system starts working over time, instantly sending us to any available point.

That’s right — Halo now includes side missions, such as freeing captive comrades from prison, blowing up an enemy repair base, finding another squad of marines from the Infinity, or killing a particularly dangerous unique enemy. There are also outposts, unloved by many in other games, which, when captured, expand the fast travel network and open points of interest in the surroundings. nine0003

But everything, as you know, is good in moderation. Infinite does not revel in its “openness”, does not litter the map with countless activity icons, like one failed Polish game, and does not force you to “extort” outposts, like some hits from one French company.

Rather, the possibilities of the open world help to move through the plot more thoughtfully and systematically — as in a real military operation. And even though Halo Zeta cannot be called a fully living world, you still want to explore it, and not gallop through the campaign — fortunately, the game allows it. nine0003

Two more interesting additions are armor upgrades and collectibles. Of course, there were additional equipment in other parts of the series, but only here we got the opportunity to equip our armor with several modules at once and improve them by consuming a special resource — Spartan cores. So now we can increase the capacity of the shield or supplement the grappling hook known from trailers and multiplayer with the function of stunning the enemies it hits.

Collectibles also continue the tradition of the series, but in addition to revealing audio materials and skulls, lockers with cosmetic effects for multiplayer have been added to them, and their collection is formalized and tracked in a separate menu. nine0003

Friends and Enemies

Interaction with friendly forces has always been a feature of Halo. Throughout the missions, Chief and other heroes of the series were often supported by other UNSC fighters, and in the fifth part and Reach, we generally acted as part of a unit for almost the entire game.

We didn’t forget about comrades-in-arms here, of course, taking into account the peculiarities of the plot and the mechanics of the game. In addition to the fighters we rescued in side missions, we may encounter UNSC Marines on the Zeta Halo by chance, which is quite justified by the situation with the fall of the Infinity, with its several thousand crew and troops. These guys are joining us, taking up empty seats in vehicles and supporting John-117 in battle. nine0003

There is nothing to stop you from gathering a larger company and showing up to the enemy with almost a whole platoon on the Vepr or Scorpion. Moreover, the meaningfulness of the actions and the vitality of our friends are pleasantly surprising, especially against the backdrop of the previous parts of the series. With such it is not scary to go into reconnaissance.

Fans of mechanized combat are in for a real treat — suffice it to say that the Scorpion can be found in the very first major side mission, and the new system of outposts allows you to summon any vehicles and weapons to them. True, for more serious «arguments» you need to gain a sufficient indicator of Courage — a special parameter that grows when completing missions and capturing outposts. nine0003

This is great, but a little confusing in terms of, if not realism (what kind of realism can be discussed in a deliberately fantastic game), then certainly logic. Of course, in theory, the size of the fallen Infinity and the amount of vehicles that remained on the Zeta Halo can satisfy any needs for weapons, vehicles and fighters that the player may have, but the combat vehicles delivered from literally nowhere by the only Pelican in the story mode look somewhat artificial.

Talking about friends, you can not ignore the enemies. I remember how, while going through Combat Evolved, after grueling battles with the Flood, I was ready to almost kiss the Covenant when I met him again — for nothing, that the enemies. The Prometheans and their reputation in the Halo community are out of the question.

So the choice of Exiles as antagonists — as already mentioned, communities from races already familiar to the Covenant — I welcome and support in every possible way.

Chatty and cowardly grunts, cunning jackals, trained and not devoid of nobility of the elite and furious brute-bougais again please with excellent implementation of the military hierarchy and tactics, not to mention excellent movement animations. Separately, it is worth noting mini-bosses — stronger enemies with unique names. In battle, a bar of life and a shield is displayed above them, and the battles themselves are especially interesting. And even though there was already something similar in the series (for example, the prophet in the second part), now this moment has become more accentuated. nine0003

A work of art

In technical terms, Halo Infinite, after devastating criticism of the first trailer and a lot of work on the bugs, began to look very worthy. This was noticeable already in the multiplayer released in the public domain, but in the campaign it is felt in full. High-quality character models and motion animations, picturesque landscapes, majestic buildings, bright vegetation, and a starry sky are pleasing to the eye and memorable.

Facial animations and cut scenes in the game engine are a particularly strong step forward compared to the previous parts. More beautiful, more cinematic. Moreover, all this magnificence works almost perfectly, without breaks and frame rate drops (I played on Series X), only with minor flaws in the form of barely noticeable “pop-up” objects. nine0003

The sound is on top — an epic soundtrack with familiar motifs and themes, excellent sounds of weapons and vehicles, live voice acting of the characters. The latter, unfortunately for many, is only in English, although quite high-quality localization in the form of text and subtitles is more than enough for complete immersion in the game.

Weapons and shooting — the so-called gunplay — are traditionally masterfully executed, which was also already clear from the multiplayer. Each gun has its own style and purpose, and thanks to the impressive work with the vibration feedback of the gamepad, the difference between a shotgun, an assault rifle and a trophy plasma carbine becomes literally palpable. nine0003

By the way, the captured weapons have been significantly upgraded. If earlier, despite all the technical superiority of the Covenant claimed in the lore, plasma rifles and pistols were only suitable as a temporary replacement for native human guns when the cartridges ran out, now they are a formidable and deadly weapon, even more effective against shields.

It’s also easier with ammunition — energy cannons replenish their charge when picking up similar enemy weapons. In addition, all weapons are now divided into several classes (kinetic, plasma, shock and heavy), and boxes for each of them are scattered around the world, replenishing ammunition. nine0003

The movement is no less cool. Master Chief can pull himself up onto ledges and slide, and with a grappling hook, he will easily give odds to even such parkour lovers as the Executioner of Doom from DOOM Eternal or one superhero from the exclusive of a competing platform.

Finally, about management. At first, compared to the previous parts, it seems a little unusual, but over time it begins to be perceived even as more logical and convenient. Only the elements associated with pressing the sticks cause a little discomfort, but this is a common problem for all console shooters. You can solve it, for example, by linking clicks on the stick to the lower «petals» of the Elite gamepad, if you have one — by the way, it has a limited Halo-style edition. nine0003

Show how cool you are!

The multiplayer side of the Halo series is much less popular among our gamers than the single player side and far less popular than in the west — and for good reason. Fortunately, with the release of Infinite, things seem to be starting to change. We have already written about our impressions of the Insider open beta test, and from November 15, the multiplayer beta is available for free to everyone.

Of any serious shortcomings, one could only name an unsuccessful progression, which, however, has already been corrected. The rest is almost final — a full-fledged release will take place on December 8, simultaneously with the campaign, but it is unlikely that anything will seriously change in it — the multiplayer version is just as beautiful as the test version. Unless there are more cards — 7 small and 3 large. nine0003

Fast matchmaking, clear modes (capturing and holding points in Strongholds and Total Control, Capture the Flag, team deathmatch called Slayer) in 4v4 exclusively on foot and 12v12 with vehicles, excellent maps, dynamism and hardcore in the spirit of classics Quake and Unreal Tournament — by the way, I remind you that there was no progression at all, and this did not bother anyone.

In general, I recommend everyone to at least try it. Given the current market situation, Infinite can already safely be called the best multiplayer shooter of 2021. nine0003

At first it hurts enough to play, especially without training, but over time, experience turns into quality, the K/D ratio grows steadily, and you don’t notice how you start putting headshots from Commando or Battle Rifle. From a gamepad. Although, as already mentioned, even on the console, a keyboard and mouse are available to those who wish.

It’s time!

It’s time to become a hero — this is the slogan of Halo Infinite, which can be seen even on huge advertising posters the size of a whole house in Moscow. Also the first time in the series. And it’s safe to say that the game has become a hero in itself. The hero we’ve been waiting for 6 years for a reason. And now it’s time for us to play it — the release will take place on December 8, 2021 at 21:00 Moscow time. The game will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one. nine0003

The new part, quite rightly, instead of the ordinary sixth number, received the unique designation Infinite. Despite the continuation in the plot and careful attitude to the legacy of its predecessors, ideologically, it really became a “soft reboot”, pushed the boundaries of its series and really swung at endless prospects.

With an updated approach to the story campaign, excellent technical performance and perhaps the best multiplayer in the genre, one can only be glad if it becomes only the first among many and defines the new face of the series in the future. For now, this is just the best shooter of 2021. nine0003

Maximum Pain: Crysis Remastered PS4 Review

In the gaming industry, many games appear every year. Big them
some pass by news feeds, some attract
our attention, while others simply cannot be ignored. They always
well-known, and their names are well known even to those who are not in them
played. 2007 turned out to be rich in such releases and big names
a year that gave us many first-class shooters, including:
Bioshock, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Half-Life 2: Episode Two,
Halo 3, S. T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl and Team Fortress 2. In the same
Crysis was also released in 2008, attracting public attention
interactivity, advanced graphics and the question, but will my
computer this game. But was he really that good and how was he?
mechanics are felt now, fifteen years after their
original release? This question was destined to be answered
compilation Crysis Remastered Trilogy , of which
updated story campaign Crysis Remastered.

Personally, it has always been difficult for me to write reviews of old games. reasons
there are several, but the main one is the relevance of the games being reviewed.
Miracles, as a rule, do not happen, and what struck our
imagination 10/15/20 years ago cannot do the same now.
For this reason, I will begin with the disclaimer that although this review is
builds on the original game, but the overall verdict and score
the versions from the Remastered Trilogy re-release will be given, without
taking into account the merits and high ratings that the game received at the time
your exit. It should also be noted that the development
this remaster was not handled by the parent studio Crytek, recently
announced the fourth part of the series, and the notorious Saber
Interactive
, which managed to be noted for its work on many
projects, including Will Rock, Timeshift, World War Z:
Aftermath and Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

The story of Crysis begins in 2020, when an island near
coast of China, strange temperature anomalies were recorded,
attracted the attention of the US and North Korean governments. On
a group of archaeologists was sent to study the object, which
after the discovery of an ancient artifact at the excavation site, it ceased
get in touch. Their distress signal, as well as increased activity
the North Korean military department served as a catalyst,
forcing the US government to send a special squad for reconnaissance
«Predator», consisting of five selected fighters in nanosuits. Among
one of them turned out to be our main character Jake Dunn, who has a code
call sign «Nomad» (Nomad). nine0003

As in many linear works in terms of script, the plot here
clearly divided into several conditional «acts» that have a huge
influence on the mood and gameplay component of the game. Her first
part, debut and exposition — a conditionally linear horror, designed to
evoke in the player a slight sense of suspense, suspense and
anxiety. It contains heroes who still do not understand what is happening on
island, attacked by unknown creatures, bury the fallen
brothers, find out the details and quarrel against their background with each other
friend. The second is a classic sandbox, the concept of which at the moment
the release of the game was not yet so common. The mood of these levels
directly opposite to the previous ones: dark locations are replaced by bright
landscape of the island, and the tasks of the detachment are switched from their own
survival to save civilians and destroy the military threat from
side of the DPRK army. The third act, a kind of endgame,
become a completely linear climax and denouement, in which our
the hero, who has already figured out the situation, plays the main role. Exactly
here the intensity of passions reaches its climax, raising the seriousness
originating from a banal military conflict over energy
resources to the scale of a global threat. nine0003

If we temporarily break away from the globality of local history and
descend exclusively to the depths of her narrative, it turns out that
that in Crysis everything is bad with this. She just isn’t attractive. Heroes are not
develop and do not grow above themselves, but a nondescript and empty plot with
tasks of the same type can not withstand any pressure from the outside,
being just a «tie», leaving all the most «sweet» and
interesting for their sequels. The problem is that with a general
game duration of eight to ten hours, it does not have much
key and significant for the plot «points of interest», most of
which occur at the end of the game. This creates the feeling
that almost the entire path traveled by the player does not make any sense, and
it was created solely for the sake of showing visual charms
the surrounding world. nine0003

But it’s time to talk about the already mentioned sandbox, the basics
which were laid down in the previous Crytek project — Far Cry.
Local locations are small (in today’s
standards) open spaces with a predetermined purpose,
which can be reached in various ways. Break through on
jeep through the main gate, while turning a couple of buildings? get around
base in the back and massacre there using «stealth»? Or
climb the nearest hill and «play» at the shooting range with
sniper rifle? The solution of any of the tasks, whether it is destruction
enemy camps or penetration into the research center, not
determined in advance, but depends solely on the desire of the player. AT
In the current realities, this sounds trite, but it must be understood that in
In 2007, this kind of conditions were rare, and the replay value,
that Crysis could give the player, and did seem unprecedented. nine0003

The interactivity of what is happening was also influenced by a special nanosuit,
working in four modes, between which it was necessary to constantly
balance. In «protection» the suit concentrated the generated
energy in the form of a shield, making it possible to withstand large
damage, such as a grenade explosion or a shot from
sniper rifle. In the «speed» mode of a person dressed in
nanosuit, the work of synapses was accelerated, as a result of which the
movement speed and weapon reload speed. The Force activated
servo amplifiers hidden in the suit that directly affect the force of blows
and the height of the jumps, and the «camouflage» made the suit almost invisible,
allowing you to quickly escape from persecution or sneak into unnoticed
protected area. nine0003

In the new reissue, all this functionality was completely
redesigned and began to resemble an analogue from the second part of the franchise. essence
in that the original 2007 Crysis had a radial menu, with
with which the player varied the abilities of the suit. AT
in the reissue, the armor is always in the “strength” mode, and the activation
other skills are assigned to specially designated
buttons. But, unfortunately, the changes affected not only this. Everybody
costume modes have become more versatile, while losing some of the
its charm and passive skills. For example, «speed» is no longer
affects «strafe» and the speed of picking up weapons, and «strength» is no longer
has a counterweight (which I will talk about a little later) in the form of a limited
energy that is spent on shooting. nine0003

The simplest shooting mechanics do not look the best either. Judge
themselves. The player is given five main types of weapons to choose from, almost no
different from each other, two rifles for firing at
long distances and a grenade launcher to combat armored vehicles.
Each of these barrels can be easily customized,
the main advantage of which is the change of sight and installation
muffler. Completes this short list already mentioned
the monotony of story missions, the complete absence of staged
scene developers and disgusting artificial intelligence,
devoid of a sense of self-preservation and coordination with each other. nine0003

Further, more. A little higher, I did not just mark the change
the main mode of the suit for «strength», because among the passive bonuses
the latter there is a reduced recoil from shooting. Exactly this
the change was the «last straw» in the «kill» of the updated combat
systems. Weapons, already not distinguished by variety, became
seem exactly the same and ceased to have at least some
impact on gameplay. It doesn’t matter what barrel you’re shooting from now
— the essence is reduced to a simple button press without any difference in
impact, consequences and impact on the environment or the player. nine0003

Crisis not
scary

Getting a platinum prize in Crysis Remastered does not cause almost
no difficulty. You just need to complete the game at maximum
difficulty level «Spetsnaz» by completing all the additional
missions and several combat trophies. You don’t have to worry too much about them.
most drop out in the course of passage, and finish the remaining
always possible by restarting the mission on easy level
difficulties. Particular attention should be paid during the passage
only to destroy five helicopters with a grenade launcher, killing
twenty opponents by grappling and ten more by using
throwing heavy objects. nine0003

However, I won’t lie — a deplorable performance of Crysis as a shooter
becomes obvious not immediately. Worth it for this
interactivity and graphics engine of the studio, hiding behind its
a bright wrapper around the many problems of the game. CryENGINE 2, which was
developed the original game, graphically surpassed all its
competitors and had its own physics engine,
providing greater realism of what is happening. destructible
buildings collapsing from the explosion, breaking under machine gun fire
trees, the ocean, after which all bodies of water from other
games seemed to be inept handicrafts. For the sake of this beauty, I wanted to come here
come back, only the catch is that on release the game
was a kind of benchmark, run which at maximum
settings, and, accordingly, to evaluate on merit, could not
every PC owner. nine0003

These main features were retained by the remaster, which in the process
adaptation moved to CryENGINE 5.6. The new engine improved the game
making it even more beautiful. Bright colors, shadows and updated lighting
pleasing to the eye, which, unfortunately, cannot be said about the sea of glitches,
appeared during the transfer process. Broken textures and graphics
artifacts of varying degrees and sizes. falling through
surface objects and killed artificial intelligence of opponents,
refusing to execute scripts specially written for it.
New bugs even affected music, because it plays normally only in
main menu. Throughout the rest of the game there are cases of complete
turning off musical accompaniment, layering tracks on top of each other
friend, as well as fluctuations in volume, leading to the «howl of sirens»,
which it is impossible to get rid of even when entering the main
menu. nine0003

Another problem is very frequent freezes and crashes.
The last «drop» of my patience was the bugs in the final location.
One of them created the effect of «endless fire» in the middle of the deck,
interfering with normal movement, and the other led to the fact that
the rescue helicopter simply refused to fly up to the aircraft carrier. Not
neither restarting the checkpoint, nor the mission as a whole helped. Not
I know what exactly unblocked his further path, but in that
the moment when I already wanted to turn off and delete the game, the helicopter
suddenly continued its movement, giving me the opportunity to finish
finally their suffering. nine0003

Finally, I would like to mention two not very pleasant facts about
game. The first is a disgusting Russian localization that pleases the player
completely killed by lipsync and poorly chosen voices that
constantly changing their tone. It looks even worse compared to
the second and third parts, where there are similar problems, but where
smaller volume. The second is strange as part of the re-release of the entire series
the decision not to add a stand-alone addition to the collection
Warhead, the events of which unfold in parallel with
original game.
