EVERSPACE 2: stay tuned for the latest game updates!

EVERSPACE 2 was born from a web campaign. Kickstarter and it worked really well! Now we are looking forward to its release and we have news about your updates!

In this January 2020 update, we have cool new drones, UI improvements, and some amazing concept art for you to see. However, before continuing, we would like to update you on the development of the Early Access version and how the prototype was received by approximately 4,000 test pilots and the press. nine0003

Also check out: EVERSPACE 2: Final Race Kickstarter

“Although the prototype hasn’t been on the market for over a month, we’re busy developing the Alpha Alfa, which is scheduled to launch to qualified supporters at the end of April. We are making good progress in creating the game world and completing the main missions. We already had a lot of fun during the first internal testing last Friday and plan to share some scenes from the game in future updates for your enjoyment.” nine0003

New Drones

If you played the original EVERSPACE, you may have noticed that drones were more of a «thing» than any other (space) game. Due to our limited budget at the time, we weren’t able to create many highly detailed enemy ships. However, having a lot of opponents with a wide range of behaviors was key to keeping things interesting, especially for a roguelike. Thus, it was decided to introduce several different types of drones. nine0003

Even though we now have a larger budget for EVERSPACE 2, we still love the concept of launching even more types of enemies with all types of resources, which keeps production costs down. So, without further ado, welcome to the newest members of the drone family:

Advanced Outlaw Sniper Drone

The Outlaw Sniper Drone uses a laser sight to focus on enemies from afar. If the line of sight is not interrupted for a few seconds, the target will be hit with a trailing fatal shot. If you’re fast enough, you can avoid getting shot, but your main strategy should be to hide before the drone fires. Approach the drone and try not to open it too long to knock it over, or turn over the table and cut it with the gun. nine0003

Outlaw Detonator Drone

This drone is filled with devastating explosives and has only one purpose: to get close to an enemy unit and collide with it, causing a huge explosion. Luckily, the Detonating Drone is pretty noisy when it’s on target, so you’ll at least hear it’s about to take you out if you don’t immediately initiate countermeasures.

EVERSPACE 2 UI improvements

In our previous update, we already had a preview of some of the UI settings for managing items. Today we’re excited to share even more improvements in addition to some brand new screens. nine0003

Station main screen

Top-level screen offering specific menus depending on the pilot’s particular docking situation. It serves for quick navigation of mouse and gamepad users. You can quickly see what interactions and services are being offered.

Inventory screen

Storage and inventory are now separated for clarity and better item management. There’s also a revised item information window, with current statistics showing more detail than before. nine0003

Ship screen

Similar to the inventory screen, you can change your ship on this screen and view its properties. However, items such as updates, enhancements, features, and benefits are still subject to change. Again, ship parts are available in two modes: simplified and detailed. This is a simplistic view — take it with a grain of salt.

Jobs screen available in EVERSPACE 2

Job board. Here pilots can get a job, who would have thought? Purple highlights indicate tasks that are higher than the player’s level and therefore potentially difficult. On the right side you can see the job rewards as well as a small preview of the position of the respective faction you are doing the job for. nine0003

In Russian schools, physical education classes will be taught to play bast shoes

Danila Makhalin

Until the end of this year, physical education classes in Russia will begin to teach how to play rounders. The proposal to return the Russian folk sports discipline to the school was supported by the ministers of education and sports. nine0003

Russian writer Alexander Kuprin noted that in bast shoes you need resourcefulness, deep breathing, attentiveness, fast running, hardness of a hand strike and eternal confidence that you will not be defeated.

Lapta is one of the oldest Russian games. It is more than a thousand years old, it is mentioned in chronicles, and balls and bats were found during excavations in Veliky Novgorod. Peter the Great made the lapta a means of physical training for the soldiers of the Semenovsky and Preobrazhensky regiments. And in the Red Army, at one time it was considered a patriotic and strategic game. nine0003

Alexander Kostarev, Chairman of the Scientific and Methodological Commission of the Russian Federation of Lapta, agrees that the Lapta is a folk and patriotic game.

Only a wooden flat bat, which used to be easily made from improvised means, could even fit a small handle from a shovel. And, of course, a ball, about the size of a tennis court. The field in the lapta is divided into 3 parts: there is a city, a house and a space between them. Two teams compete: driving and hitting. nine0003

The task of the batters is to hit the ball with a stick, and while the opposing team has caught it, run from the city to the house. The goal of the drivers is to catch this ball and hit the opponent as quickly as possible before he runs into the house. For a successful attempt to run into the house, 2 points are usually awarded, and one for a caught ball. They play 4 halves of 15 minutes or two of 30.

Pavel Eckert, chairman of the commission for the development of bast shoes in Siberia and the Far East, sees minimal costs and maximum benefits in bast shoes. nine0003

In the 1950s in the Soviet Union they already held the championship in bast shoes, but soon there was a strong tilt towards the Olympic events, which bast shoes are not. The strong traditions of this game did not allow it to completely disappear in the 90s, since the lapta was included in the unified Russian sports classification

Evgeny Cherepenin, chairman of the commission for the development of lapta in student organizations, recalled the need to develop personnel for teaching the game of lapta. Such an initiative has not yet reached all schools in our country. In some educational institutions, this will all be new, but somewhere in physical education, teachers retained an interest in bast shoes even before the recent government initiatives. nine0003

Ivan Pinich, a teacher of physical education at Pedagogical College No. 18 in Moscow, admits that schoolchildren are interested in this new old game.

«The more difficult the situation, the greater the responsibility on the people who work with children so that they are healthy and educated,» said Russian Sports Minister Oleg Matitsyn.

For physical education lessons this year, new modules have also been prepared for badminton, fitness aerobics, mobile chess, triathlon, floorball and athletics. In the next it is planned to add rock climbing, biathlon, tennis and roller sports. And already when planning classes, a physical education teacher, based on the list of these modules, will be able to choose any of them.
