Escape from Tarkov bricht alle Spielerrekorde
Falls ihr gerade auf die Idee gekommen seid, mal wieder in Escape From Tarkov reinzuspielen, dann seid ihr nicht allein. Der Hardcore-Shooter erlebt aktuell seine absolute Blütezeit mit nie dagewesenen Spielerzahlen — auf die der Server nicht vorbereitet war. Das Ergebnis: Alle wollen spielen, aber niemand kommt rein. Was steckt hinter dem riesigen Ansturm?
Warteschlangenplatz 86.000
Wer den Launcher von Escape from Tarkov startet, der blickt seit Tagen unglaublichen Warteschlangen ins Auge. Zu Hochzeiten stehen laut AltChar auch schon mal 86.713 andere Spieler vor euch in der virtuellen Schlange. Geschätzte Wartezeit? Die kann selbst der Launcher nicht mehr berechnen.
Obwohl der CEO von Battlestate Games in einem Entwickler-Podcast erzählte, dass mit dem neuen Patch mit einer hohen Spielerzahl von alten und neuen Fans zu rechnen ist und die Community um Geduld bat, schien der Ansturm am Ende doch größer als erwartet.
Woher kommt der Ansturm?
Mit dem bisher größten Update für Escape from Tarkov kam am 12. Dezember unter anderem die heiß ersehnte Map Lighthouse ins Spiel. Die könnt ihr in Aktion im Trailer zu Patch 0.12.12 bewundern:

Zunächst funktionierte das Update ohne größere Probleme — allerdings fehlte es der neuen Lighthouse-Map an Feinschliff, weswegen zahlreiche Bugfixes nachgeliefert wurden. Um die Weihnachtsfeiertage traten immer mehr Startprobleme, Synchronisationsfehler und Abstürze auf.
Laut Entwicklern war die Komplexität des Updates und die riesigen Spielerschaft die tödliche Mischung — weswegen eine Warteschlange eingeführt wurde, um Spieler kontrolliert auf die Server zu lassen. Nun meldeten sich die Entwickler erneut auf Twitter und verkünden, dass an weiteren Lösungen gearbeitet wird:

In dem Thread heißt es, dass »einfach mehr Server zu kaufen« das Problem nicht lösen wird.
Stattdessen wird derzeit an besserer Hardware, Softwareänderungen und Backend-Optimierung gearbeitet. Außerdem wird betont, dass die Warteschlangen nur eine temporäre Lösung sind. Mit dem aktuellen Twitch-Drop-Event sollen die Probleme übrigens entgegen der Vermutungen einiger Spieler nichts zu tun haben. Aktuell sind die Wartezeiten für die europäischen Server sehr viel humaner, was sich gegen Abend aber wieder ändern dürfte.

Escape from Tarkov ist Anfang 2022 der Hit auf Twitch
Wie in den letzten 3 Jahren ist der Hardcore-Shooter Escape from Tarkov (PC) zum Jahreswechsel auch 2022 das größte Spiel der Welt auf Twitch.
Tarkov hat GTA Online und LoL bei den gesehenen Stunden in den letzten 7 Tagen überholt. Der Streamer DrDisrespect sagt: Escape from Tarkov könnte das ganze Gaming übernehmen, wenn es nicht ein großes Problem zu Beginn hätte.
Wie stark ist Escape from Tarkov auf Twitch?
- Bärenstark. Der russische Hardcore-Shooter hat die Dauerbrenner GTA 5, LoL und Valorant mal eben rechts überholt. In den letzten 7 Tagen wurde kein Spiel auf Twitch mehr geschaut als Escape from Tarkov. Die Zuschauerzahl von Tarkov stieg in den letzten 7 Tagen um 126 % – in den letzten 30 Tagen sogar um 637%.
- Tarkov wurde in 7 Tagen 37,34 Millionen Stunden lang gesehen – 13 Millionen Stunden mehr als GTA 5, 17 Millionen Stunden mehr als LoL.
- Wie jedes Jahr ist der führende Streamer bei Tarkov der Australier Pestily. Er hat sich komplett auf Escape from Tarkov spezialisiert. Aber es streamen auch Leute wie summit1g oder shroud den Shooter. Und auch DrDisrespect schaut rein.
Twitch-Drops befeuern wieder Aufstieg des Shooters auf Twitch 2022
Warum ist das so? Es ist seit 2019 so, dass Escape from Tarkov die Führung auf Twitch zum Ende eines Jahres übernimmt,. Das liegt daran, dass das Spiel vorm Jahreswechsel „traditionell“ Twitch-Drops spendiert und sich das Schauen von Tarkov besonders lohnt:
- Escape from Tarkov „wipet“ regelmäßig das komplette Spiel, sodass alle neu anfangen müssen. Das führt zu einem Schub an Interesse. Der letzte Wipe war am 12. Dezember. Da gab es es einen Peak bei den Spielerzahlen.
- Vom 28. Dezember bis zum 8. Januar können sich Spieler die Twitch-Drops holen. Der 28. Dezember war der Beginn der Hochzeit von Escape from Tarkov auf Twitch im Jahr 2021.
- Dieses Jahr sind alle Editionen von Tarkov zudem 25 % günstiger.
Es hat sich irgendwie so eingebürgert, dass in den letzten Dezember-Wochen “Tarkov” auf der Speisekarte der Twitch-Streamer landet. Während das Spiel die meiste Zeit eines Jahres auf Twitch keine große Rolle spielt, rasen die Zuschauerzahlen zum Jahreswechsel nach oben.
DrDisrespect kritisiert grindige “schwache Phase” nach jedem Wipe
Was sagt DrDisrespect zu Escape from Tarkov? Der eigentlich chronisch unzufriedene DrDisrespect ist ebenfalls wieder im Tarkov-Fieber. Er erklärt:
Leute, ich denke, es macht echt Spaß. Ich glaube, es würde sogar noch mehr Leute spielen, aber es gibt diese große Barriere. Ehrlich: Die müssten nur diese eine Sache ändern und das Spiel würde [die Gaming-Welt] übernehmen.
DrDisrespect
Als Schwierigkeit sieht DrDisrespect die Anfangs-Phase nach jedem Wipe, in dem Spieler mit Nichts starten und ihre Charaktere schwach sind:
Jedes Mal, wenn einer zurück zu Escape from Tarkov kommt oder wenn er es zum ersten Mal spielt, muss er durch diesen schlechten Teil gehen. Dein Charakter fühlt sich lahm und langsam an, du ringst ständig nach Atem. Ich weiß, wenn man levelt, ändert sich das, aber jeder fragt sich: Wann bin ich denn endlich damit durch?
Es ist mühsam und es heißt, dass jeder, der nicht 24 Stunden am Tag grindet, im Nachteil ist.
Sofort. Das macht keinen Spaß und es macht das Game weniger spaßig. Das ist das ist das einzige, was Tarkov wirklich ändern muss.
DrDisrespect
DrDisrespect räumt aber ein, dass eine solche Änderung wahrscheinlich zu der „brutalen Hardcore-Natur“ des Shooters passieren würde. Die hätten das Game so gemacht, wie sie es für richtig halten – das akzeptiere er auch. DrDisrespect sagt, er möge Tarkov wirklich und gönne dem Shooter mehr Spieler. Aber diese Barriere verhindere eben den ganz großen Erfolg.
