Contents of the guide

The first major chapter of the guide below is a beginner’s guide. Players beginning their adventure with the game will surely find starting tips useful, as well as pages with tips regarding, among others, combat, exploration, conversations with NPCs, completing tasks, crafting, health regeneration, thievery or hacking. Evenly useful should be pages dedicated to character development (you can find recommended builds here), factions inhabiting the world of the game (Berserkers, Outlaws, Clerics) and the locations of trainers, vendors, recipes, elex drink bottles, and legendary items.

Another major part of the guide is the FAQ chapter with answers to the most frequently asked questions. From it, you can easily learn what to avoid while playing (the most common pitfalls), how to amass XP easily and without effort, how to earn elexit (local currency), how to avoid dying in the initial phase of the game, where to find the main cities on the map, which abilities to choose at the beginning, and where to get a good weapon for Jax.

The third major chapter is a walkthrough for the game, which contains solutions to all types of quests — story missions (along with the ending), side quests, companion quests, and finally, faction quests that allow the player to improve relations and join the chosen group. The walkthrough is complemented by world atlas maps that show all major areas of Magalan — Edan, Tavar, Abessa, Ignadon, and Xacor.

Aside from the main chapters, the guide is complemented by smaller ones. Among them, you can find a trophy guide useful in unlocking 100% of the trophies. Moreover, you can view a page dedicated to PC system requirements, as well as receive information regarding the length of the game.

Elex: Quick starting tips

  1. Save as often as possible. Dying in Elex is part of the experience. Moreover, saving can save you from wrong decisions in quests. Make sure to save at the beginning of each major quest and before entering a new city or a major location.
  2. Opening menus and windows does not pause the game. You can easily forget about this hindrance, and in result prompt a situation where the main hero gets jumped. Open the menu windows away from enemies and in safe locations.
  3. Jetpack is useful when exploring. With its help, you can reach remote areas or locations that were previously unaccessible (e.g. roofs of tall buildings). Nevertheless, don’t forget about the limited time you can spend airborne. Careless use of jetpack may lead to dying by falling from height.
  4. Gather all found loot. In Elex, inventory is bottomless — both when it comes to the number of items and maximum encumbrance. Pick up all you find, even stuff that isn’t useful to you, as you can sell it to a vendor later.
  5. Get a companion as soon as possible. Travelling as a group is a much better idea than going solo. A companion can not only help in attacking encountered enemies, but can as well as attract monsters and make them focus their attention on himself, which is especially useful when rolling a hero that uses magic or ranged weapons.
  6. Take some time before joining a faction. You should complete as many quests as possible before, as some of them are available only to a independent hero. This will allow you to gather as much XP as possible, and you’ll get acquainted with the factions and have an easier time choosing one.

More tips can be found on a dedicated page: Starting Tips.

Elex: Starting tips | gamepressure.com

Last update: Sunday, November 27, 2022

1. Save your game often. Magalan is a dangerous planet – staying outside of protected locations can end with your death, especially in the first few hours in the game. A bloodthirsty beast or a bandit lurks around every corner and because of that saving a lot can save you from losing your progress.

2. Remember that opening an equipment screen, map or character screen doesn’t pause the game. Even if you open your inventory, you are still vulnerable to attacks and NPCs won’t stop their actions.

3. Collect everything. Your character has an unlimited amount of space in his equipment so, in the beginning of the game, you should collect everything. Even junk can be sold, this allows you to earn some money.

4. Use your jet pack. The ability to fly allows you to visit locations that, at a first glance, are unreachable. Also, jet pack makes exploration faster. It allows you to descend slowly from mountains, cliffs or tall buildings.

5. Running away is usually the only option during a confrontation with a powerful monster or a character. Even on the lowest difficulty level, the world of Elex can be a challenge. In the beginning of the game your character has no chances against powerful beasts and experienced heroes can defeat Jax with only a few hits. If you feel that you won’t be able to win, sprint or the jet pack are the perfect solution.

6. Look for teleportation places. Teleports are the only way of fast travelling in Elex and because of that you should discover as many of them as possible. This will make your travels around the world much faster. They are often hidden in vegetation so be careful during your exploration.

7. Don’t steal… At least not when someone is looking at you. After taking someone’s possession all nearby NPCs (especially guards) will react immediately. This can end with fine or even your death. If you want to steal something then you should do that when you are alone.

8. Use food and plants. Although potions regenerate your health faster, they are more expensive and difficult to find. A slice of meat or a healing herb are also good for healing your wounds after a battle. Potions should be left for critical situations – in the beginning of the game you should use them only during fights.

9. Sleep fully regenerates your health bar. Using beds or bedrolls is a free way of getting your entire health back. Places in which you can sleep can be found in the entire world – they are in villages, cities, ruins or even woods.

10. Travel with a companion. Having someone at your side during battles is very helpful. With a companion, you are able to defeat a beast that you wouldn’t be able to defeat alone. All experience goes to you so you don’t have to worry that your companion can delay development of your hero. However, you must remember that companions aren’t immortal and can die during fights.

Elex Guide — Complete Guide for All Factions

Those of you who have played games like Skyrim and Fallout know that they require a lot of hard thinking about which faction you should join. Elex belongs to this list of massive RPGs. Factions play a huge role in Elex to the point of being one of the highlights of the game’s world and story. In this guide, you will learn practical tips on how to make the right choice.

The Criminals

The Criminals look like they just stepped out of a Mad Max movie. Hailing from the barren deserts of Magalan, this group of fighters is known for having no resemblance to the community. Each person does their own thing in an almost anarchic society where drugs and other nasty activities are common. nine0003

They are dangerous and well-equipped, so they will appeal to players who want to have the most diverse arsenal at their disposal. Guns, grenades, drugs, you name it and you have it. Also a big advantage of criminals is that they are really the only faction that can really work.

While this is a significant benefit to joining them, they are unfortunately in the most disadvantageous position in combat. Lacking the power of the other factions and due to the unbalanced nature of the gameplay, this is the worst faction in the game. This does not mean that it is impossible to play it. In fact, anyone who likes anarchy or is simply attracted to the style of outlaws can choose them. nine0003

Berserker Faction

Unlike the Outlaws, the Berserker name is much more misleading. With a name like that, everyone expects a wild group of people, but in fact it is quite the opposite. Berserkers are the first faction you encounter in Elex. they are more similar to the traditional idea of medieval people.

Berserkers live in peaceful, lush forests. They have created an almost tribal community that, wanting to fight, prefers peace over anything else. They despise the Elex element and will do anything to wipe it off Magalan’s face. nine0003

Jaegers don’t rely on Elex technology, they use more primitive weapons like knives, swords, and the like. Their biggest advantage is the discovery of magic. Berserkers are the only faction that can use fireballs, summons, and the like. Their magic is strong and anyone who prefers a traditional fantasy RPG style should definitely choose this faction.

Confessors

Confessors live in a colder climate society revolving around technology and the Elex element. They have created laser and plasma weapons and use them to brutally destroy their enemies. They love technology so much that it has become their religion. nine0003

Spiritualists worship technology as their god and have created huge machines and androids as the bulk of their armies and cities. They also have access to Psi powers, which are their equivalent of Berserker magic. Due to their advanced technology and powers, Spiritualists are the easiest faction to join and play with.
