Nightfall: The Ordeal weapons have a chance to drop at the end of the activity depending on your medal (Platinum, Gold, etc.) and difficulty. Master difficulty will give you the highest chance at a drop of the base versions of these weapons. Adept difficulty weapons have a chance to drop at the end of a Grandmaster Nightfall. Drop chance also dependent on your medal. Slay enough Champions to hit Platinum and you will have a high chance at an Adept weapon.

When do Grandmasters start in Destiny 2’s Season of Plunder? Grandmaster Nightfall start time and schedule

Here’s when you can start earning Adept weapons.

Players who want to conquer the hardest challenge in Destiny 2 PvE will have to wait until Grandmaster Nightfalls go on rotation. Grandmasters aren’t available for the first few weeks of the season, which gives players enough time to grind out their Power Level through Pinnacle Drops and Artifact Levels.

Each season brings six Nightfalls, with each one available on a given week. Grandmaster Nightfalls follow their regular counterpart in terms of availability and rewards, including an Adept version of whatever weapon is on tap that week. For instance, if this week’s regular Nightfall is The Disgraced (Cosmodrome) and it drops the Palindrome, the Grandmaster version of that Nightfall will also be The Disgraced and will drop the Palindrome (Adept).

The only way of bypassing the rotation (but not the reward) is by using the catch-up node available for players who completed the Conqueror title outside of the current season. This allows the fireteam leader to send players to any of the six Grandmasters they haven’t completed in the season, though it doesn’t let them take on other Grandmasters. Completing a different Grandmaster Nightfall through the catch-up node will award the squad with a copy of the Adept weapon that’s on tap when they take on the Nightfall.

Grandmasters also have higher odds of dropping Ascendant Shards and Exotic armor pieces for the class you completed the Grandmaster with, so don’t forget to put on the armor-focusing mods on your Ghost before heading into a Grandmaster.

Grandmasters will cap players’ Power Level at 15 Power above the Pinnacle cap, meaning you just need 15 Artifact levels if you’ve finished grinding your Pinnacles. Grandmasters also cap guardians’ Power Level at 25 below, making it a tremendous challenge for players who are looking to prove themselves.

Here’s when you can start diving into Grandmaster Nightfalls in Season of Plunder, whether you want to grind for Adept weapons or just want to take on the hardest content in Destiny 2.

Grandmaster Nightfalls kick off in Destiny 2‘s Season of Plunder at the weekly reset on Oct. 4, which gives players a few weeks to go through the whole repertoire of Nightfalls at their disposal this season. With Season of Plunder ending on Dec. 6, players have around two months to take on all Nightfalls, which offers enough time to get one of each Adept reward and to complete each Nightfall once.

The six Grandmasters in rotation in Destiny 2’s Season of Plunder are:

Fate is determined — impression from the PC version of Destiny 2

As for the need to hang around in the game for a long time, go to raids, knock out legendary items from bosses, upgrade the protagonist and weapons — who, if not fans of Diablo III and World of Warcraft, is best suited for this ?!

For the first time, Blizzard has allowed a third-party game into its domain, the Battle.net service. The miracles don’t end there. An unexpected guest was the game Destiny 2 from the Bungie studio, which has not released anything on the PC for a long time. She spent 10 years working on the Halo series until she finally bought her independence from Microsoft and went to Activision to create one of the most ambitious and expensive projects in the history of the gaming industry. The budget of the first part of Destiny, according to official statements, amounted to about $500 million (including the marketing campaign).

Destiny stood out for being something of a massive online role-playing game with strong competitive and cooperative multiplayer. Much has been done brilliantly. Players explored planets, completed missions, met, formed groups, killed bosses and each other. What can you do in pursuit of the best armor and weapons! The game attracted with a bright art style and a brilliant implementation of gunfights. There are few other places where you can find such spectacular shotguns and revolvers.

However, the lack of content and goofy presentation of the history of the world eventually led to Destiny getting bored with the endless repetition of the same thing. Released additions were heterogeneous. The Taken King inspired great optimism and showed that the developers stood up for fixes. We were shown interesting heroes, they were not shy about joking, they introduced a whole new faction and a huge game level with a lot of unobvious riddles. However, the rest of the DLC were just additives, designed to slightly dilute the general monotony.

The announcement of Destiny 2 was not a surprise. It was clear that endlessly «milking» the first part would not work. Too much needs to be changed in order to revive the game. They did a «reboot» once with The Taken King, but it’s easier to start from scratch than trying to tie the pieces together, which is what Bungie intends to do in part two. Already in the intro of Destiny 2, the Red Legion attacks and destroys the Tower of Guardians*, blocks the power of the Wanderer* and deprives the defenders of humanity of their superpowers. All past victories and merits are crossed out. Heroes are «reset» and lose their homes.

* The history of the game is not full of details and is based more on beautiful legends than factual information. It is known that humanity, having reached its peak, was almost completely destroyed by the ensuing Darkness. The planets of the solar system were occupied by evil aliens. People retreated behind the walls of the last city on Earth, over which the Wanderer hovers — a huge alien ship that endowed individual people with the power of Guardians, making them immortal and capable of throwing thunder and lightning. The High Tower in the center of the city has become a stronghold of the Guardians. What is the Wanderer is not known for certain.

Alas, the developers do not want to convince the public that Destiny 2 is a really new game. It looks like Destiny 1.5. The graphics and design are identical to the first part, the enemies are the same, with the exception of rare recruits, there are no replenishment even in the game classes! Before us are the same Titan, Hunter and Warlock, who received new abilities, not to say that they are very different from what they already had before. There was a new weapon like miniature Gatling guns. Sniper rifles and shotguns were moved to the category of «powerful» guns, equating them to grenade launchers. This means that very little ammo drops for them.

The beta version, which was tested by console users a month ago, features one well-executed story mission with an unprecedented number and quality of CG cutscenes for Bungie; one co-op boss run and two maps for competitive multiplayer. Not a lot, given that the Destiny beta represented almost a quarter of the game! In other words, the presentation of the second part does not seek to show us something new, with the exception of the abilities of the heroes and weapons.

It is unclear whether the main shortcomings of the first part associated with a small amount of content designed for high-level players will be corrected. To do this, you need to see a map of at least one of the planets: how many story missions there will be, cooperative «dungeons» with bosses, whether there is a raid. Alas, Bungie representatives only vaguely assure us that they do not want to spoil the surprise, so they do not show anything.

But you can evaluate the quality of the beta version of Destiny 2 for PC, which registered in the Battle.net service. Since the game is published by Activision, which is known for the poor quality of PC versions of Call of Duty, there were fears that there would be optimization problems here too. Fortunately, the fears were not justified.

The quality of the PC version is excellent. A large number of settings allows you to run the game on any more or less current gaming computer. Owners of the GeForce GTX 1080 and above (we did not test on the Radeon RX Vega 64) can play in 4K resolution with maximum graphics settings at 60 fps, the rest will have to shrink a little, but do not have to sacrifice anything serious. Maximum settings have little effect on graphics quality.

The quality of the network code is also not in question. The party for cooperative or competitive multiplayer is fast, during the match there is no hint of high ping, lags and crashes. Unlike the first part with poorly configured peer-to-peer networks, here you are in complete control of the situation and do not die from bullets turning around the corner.

It is worth noting that Bungie did not dare to completely switch to dedicated servers, but competently revised its previous experience. Infrastructure Destiny 2, according to the developers, is a kind of hybrid using dedicated servers and peer-to-peer networks. How it works doesn’t really matter. It is important that there is progress.

Due to changes in the balance of weapons, competitive multiplayer has become more tactical. Shotguns and sniper rifles, capable of taking down an opponent with one shot, are hard to get ammo for. They appear in designated places on the map and are not issued to everyone nearby, but strictly to one member of the team. The ultimate abilities of the heroes do not last long, and it is quite easy to hide from them, especially if you put an energy shield in front of you.

Killing the enemy, especially at a long distance, is now not an easy task. It is necessary to make several accurate hits in a row, maneuvering between shelters, not to let him sit out and restore health.

The beta version has two modes. The first is the familiar struggle for three key positions on the map. The second is a futuristic Counter-Strike, a fight without respawns. The team of «terrorists» must mine one of the two specified objects, and the other is forced to protect them. A very intense mode, and the cunning layout of the map allows you to set traps, go to the rear, and then fall on the enemy with all the power of the ultimate ability, if you manage to charge it by then.

There are no complaints about the multiplayer at all. He was good in the original, now he is even better, and his future depends on how quickly Bungie responds to community requests so that the game does not have cheaters, overly powerful weapons or a universal armor set. And there are doubts about this, since the reaction to problems in the first Destiny was, well, very slow. Sometimes I had to wait up to six months for the developers to decide to fix the situation.

As for the cooperative multiplayer, the presented run to the boss does not really stand out when compared with the previous part. We, as before, are waiting for a half-hour journey with periodic clashes and the actual final battle, during which the boss is not too lazy to constantly summon minions.

I was very pleased with the layout of the story mission presented in the beta. First, very beautiful scenery. Despite the fact that we are walking along a relatively narrow corridor, the feeling of a large-scale war of annihilation does not leave us. Spectacular cutscenes keep you in suspense, the ending with the blocking of the Wanderer and the deprivation of the Guardians of power is extremely intriguing. Yes, and the villain here is all such Bane from the Batman universe: a brutal big man in a muzzle, prone to pathetic speeches and assault. It will be especially pleasant to kill such a person.

Visually, the beta shows an uneven picture. In the story mission, you never get tired of admiring the play of light and shadow, artsy design, skillful combination of colors, magnificent fireworks of explosions and a dense curtain of rain. In a cooperative mission, one can only frown with displeasure. What kind of cubic level like Minecraft, transmitted light, lack of expressive details?! The multiplayer is also uneven. One map in the style of a European city is very attractive, the other is plain and simple.

As for the quality of the PC version, after these graphics — detailed effects, crisp textures, voluminous shading, high frame rates, wide angle of view — you understand that you want to play that way. The bonus is mouse and keyboard control and built-in support for Battle.net services.

Analysis

It is not yet clear what Destiny 2 will be. The developers are intriguing, and I want to believe that they will be able to surprise us. At the very least, it’s clear that they’ve put a lot more effort into the world, characters, and story this time around. We will finally have a real antagonist, and not just an abstract symbol of universal evil. Humanity is now certainly on the verge of annihilation, as the Light has left us and the Darkness has fallen upon the Earth. However, of course, we will save everyone again, it cannot be otherwise. You just have to visit a few planets and beat the crap out of a thousand or two enemies.

The Battle.net beta showed that the publisher was serious about making Destiny 2 a popular game for the PC audience. Optimization is excellent, additional graphic effects make the picture more pleasant, well-tuned network infrastructure will allow you to enjoy the multiplayer sincerely. As for the need to hang around in the game for a long time, go to raids, knock out legendary items from bosses, upgrade the protagonist and weapons — who, if not fans of Diablo III and World of Warcraft, is best suited for this ?! There is no doubt that if the developers provide enough content, the game will become extremely popular on the Battle.
