Battlefield 7 soll von Fehlern des Vorgängers lernen. Eine konkrete Info klingt jetzt schon besser als das, was Battlefield 2042 verbrochen hat.
Redwood City, Kalifornien – Battlefield 2042 ist hart gefloppt, keine Frage. Publisher EA scheint aber Geld und Zeit in die Hand zu nehmen, um den Nachfolger besser zu machen. Besonders eine Zielgruppe wurde lange vergessen und soll jetzt wieder im Fokus stehen. Was heißen die neuen Infos für den aktuellen Teil, ist sterben für Battlefield 7 angesagt?
Diese Info macht Hoffnung auf Battlefield 7: Battlefield 2042 gilt als große Gaming-Enttäuschung 2021 und hat für viele Spieler die prestigereiche Shooter-Serie ins Grab befördert. Die Fehlentscheidungen von Entwickler DICE waren so umfangreich, dass ihr noch morgen diesen Artikel lesen würdet, wenn alle aufgezählt würden. Doch bereits eine kleine Info zum Nachfolger sorgt jetzt für Freude bei den Spielern.
Aus einer offiziellen Stellensuche von EA geht jetzt eindeutig hervor, dass das neue Battlefield wieder eine Singleplayer-Kampagne bieten soll. Der in Ungnade gefallene Vorgänger Battlefield 2042 verzichtete auf die wichtige Story – wie das ausging, ist ja weitläufig bekannt. Wir sagen, warum diese Nachrichten auf Großes hoffen lassen.
Battlefield 7: Singleplayer Kampagne bestätigt – warum die Story so wichtig für den Shooter ist
Das wissen wir zur neuen Kampagne: Offiziell ist nicht viel über Battlefield 7 bekannt, nicht mal der Name ist in Stein gemeißelt. Doch die Anforderungen an den neuen Story-Chef klingen vielversprechend. Das geht aus der Jobbeschreibung hervor:
- Es soll ein neues Battlefield-Studio in Seattle entstehen, das am noch namenlosen „Battlefield 2042“-Nachfolger arbeiten soll.
- Der gesuchte Entwickler soll wortwörtlich „das Design-Team und die Design-Vision einer neuen Battlefield-Kampagne“ leiten.
Die Kampagne wird also namentlich erwähnt. Zusätzlich wird dort auch das Wort „Singleplayer Campaign“ genutzt. - Zu den Aufgaben gehört das Entwerfen „spannender Geschichten“ und „unvergesslicher Charaktere“.
- Der neue Teil soll ein AAA-Game (Triple A) werden – das heißt, EA nimmt ordentlich Geld in die Hand. So heißen die Blockbuster-Produktionen. Man lässt sich also vom Flop nicht unterkriegen.
Darum klingt der Job so gut: Battlefield 2042 musste sich (zurecht) anhören, einfach den Shooter-Hit von Konkurrent Call of Duty zu kopieren. Statt auf geerdetes Gameplay in realistischem Setting zu setzen, was die Serientradition ausmachte, gab es einen halbgaren Klon von Warzone. Leider gelang die Kopie des Battle Royale nicht, vor allem der technische Zustand war eine Katastrophe. Umso erfreulicher ist es jetzt, dass ein Standbein des neuen Battlefields wieder auf alten Stärken wurzeln will.
Serienkenner werfen jetzt ein, dass ja auch schon Battlefield 5 keine richtige Story hatte.
Dem ist auch so, die eher episodenhaften Kurzgeschichten, die man teils auch aus Battlefield 1 kennt, kamen aber ihrerseits auch nicht wirklich gut bei den Fans an. Umso besser, dass man sich jetzt hoffentlich an Schwergewichten wie Bad Company orientiert. Auch Tradition hat, dass manchen Fans die Story völlig egal ist, für sie zählt nur der Multiplayer. Da EA sich aber scheinbar all das Feedback zu Herzen nimmt, sollte man auch in den Online-Matches wieder zur alten Stärke zurückkehren und die unsäglichen Operator fallen lassen.

Gute Neuigkeit sind auch, dass das neue EA-Studio in Seattle beispielsweise auf Marcus Letho, den Co-Schöpfer von Halo und jahrelangen Bungie-Mitarbeiter als Game Director setzen kann. Das laut Leaker und Brancheninsider Tom Henderson für 2024 geplante Battlefield 7 soll also beste Chancen zum Durchstarten bekommen. Was heißt das aber für das im Sterben liegende Battlefield 2042?
Ist der Flop Battlefield 2042 also (endlich) tot und begraben?
Das plant EA für Battlefield 2042: Glaubt man EA, so wird Battlefield 2042 trotz des Starts, und den unschönen Folgemonaten, nicht fallengelassen wie die sprichwörtliche heiße Kartoffel.
Seit gut einem halben Jahr hat Rebecka Coutaz bei DICE das Sagen in Sachen Battlefield 2042. Die Chefin macht klar, dass man am Game festhält und all die Fehler korrigiert, das Feedback der Fans hört und auch umsetzt. Wir haben uns vieles davon im Test zu Battlefield 2042 gewünscht.
Erste Entwickelungen daraus sind beispielsweise, dass die mit Verspätung gestartete Season 1 von Battlefield 2042 im Juni 2022 tatsächlich live ging und sogar positiv bei den Spielern auf Steam ankam. Wir hoffen, dass die gepeinigten Battlefield-Spieler schon in naher Zukunft bessere Tage erleben.

Knapp anderthalb Jahre nach Release hat Battlefield 2042 sein bisher revolutionärstes Update erhalten: Die von Fans sträflich vermissten Klassen sind zurück! Und die verändern das Feeling des kontroversen Multiplayer-Shooters durchaus beachtlich. Doch wie bei allen großen Patches rütteln einige Änderungen auch an der Balance des Spiels — und so reagiert DICE unmittelbar nach dem Update mit dem neuen Patch 3.2.1. auf die größten Baustellen.
Die wichtigsten Angriffspunkte des Updates:
- Die Leuchtspurpistole wird massiv generft: Mit den neuen Tracer Darts könnt ihr Fahrzeuge, Helis, aber auch jeden Punkt auf der Map für eure Teamkollegen markieren, damit die ihre Raketen dort hinschicken. Offenbar war das neue Tool zu stark. Nach dem Hotfix müsst ihr deutlich stärker vorhalten und den Abfall des Geschosses berücksichtigen, außerdem reduziert sich die Wirkdauer der Leuchtgeschosse von 40 Sekunden drastisch auf 12 Sekunden.
- Die Änderungen am Trommelmagazin entfallen: Eine kontroverse Änderung des Updates wird rückgängig gemacht. Mit den großen Trommelmagazinen konntet ihr zwar länger ballern, die Anvisier-Zeit war aber extrem hoch, sodass niemand mehr Spaß an dem Upgrade hatte. Deshalb streicht DICE die Änderungen.
Die entschärfte Leuchtspurpistole soll den Umgang mit dem Gadget laut DICE spannender gestalten: Jetzt benötigt ihr wirklich Treffergeschick, um weit entfernte Sniper-Stellungen für eure Kollegen zu markieren. Die sonstigen Änderungen des Hotfixes fallen eher klein aus und bügeln Unsauberkeiten des großen Klassen-Updates aus. Beispielsweise könnt ihr per Munitionskiste jetzt nicht länger Loadouts ausrüsten, die für eure Klasse eigentlich tabu sind. Auch das neue TAR-Sturmgewehr wird zum Beispiel ein bisschen nützlicher.

Moscow is preparing for a full-scale military conflict in the Arctic region, says 19FortyFive columnist Peter Suciu. According to him, the Nagurskoye airbase, built in the 1950s for meteorological observations and as a communication outpost between the mainland of Eurasia and the North Pole, is currently used as a military airfield. MiG-31 fighter-interceptors will start from its platform.

A «new theater of conflict» may arise in the Arctic due to the growing role of Russia, RIA Novosti reports citing a statement by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. He noted that Moscow is modernizing its bases in the Arctic and building new ones, including those 300 miles from Alaska.
Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Federal Structure, Regional Policy, Local Self-Government and Northern Affairs Anatoly Shirokov drew the attention of NSN to the desire of the Arctic Club players to internationalize the Northern Sea Route. Against this background, Russia is preparing to defend its interests.

In this sense, we see a serious activation of the United States, they realized that it is necessary to develop a military icebreaker fleet, we see that the Northern flank of NATO is also seriously strengthened.
And our exercises of the Northern Fleet are a response to the exercises of foreign states, designed to indicate that we are ready to defend our transport artery,” he added.
The media speculated when Alaska would return to Russia
The clash of interests between Russia and the United States in this remote but strategically important region is becoming more and more open. Moreover, in the Arctic, Moscow and Washington are the main adversaries, but the Americans have little chance here. Columnist for the newspaper The Times Larisa Brown, citing a report by the think tank Civitas, said that Russia is going to turn the Arctic into a «battlefield of the future», in connection with which the country is increasing its military and economic activity in this region.
In her article, she pointed out that in this report Western countries are called to «wake up» because of the activity of the Russian Federation in the Arctic. The authors of the report noted that in recent years, Russia has deployed 50 military facilities in this region. According to them, this indicates the imminent transformation of the Arctic into a place of geopolitical rivalry.
Brown also pointed out in the publication that the melting of glaciers due to global warming opens up new trade routes in the High North, which raises concerns among European countries about increased rivalry.
She drew attention to the fact that when the route through the Northern Sea Route is opened, the time for passing the sea route from Shanghai to Rotterdam will be reduced by two weeks.
The Civitas report also talks about the threat that Moscow may pass a law obliging carriers to turn to Russia for pilotage of ships.
In addition, the material says that the Arctic has huge reserves of rare earth metals, such as zinc and nickel. According to the compilers of the report, such significant deposits of minerals will allow Russia to increase supplies to China.
Earlier, Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, senior official of the Arctic Council from Russia Nikolai Korchunov told why Moscow is restoring military facilities and infrastructure in the Arctic.
