Now relive 2 of the greatest titles within the Castlevania series: “Rondo of Blood” (PC Engine) and “Symphony of the Night” (PlayStation®).
Rondo of Blood
The 10th in its series crafted with stunning graphics and beautiful music
Released on PC-Engine in 1993, this was the first in the series released as a CD-ROM game. It took full advantage of the new media format, and was praised by reviewers for its crisp visuals and amazing music.
Venture through 9 stages featuring hidden levels and alternative routes to save imprisoned villagers as you set out to destroy count Dracula once and for all.
Playable characters include Richter Belmont the Vampire Hunter and Maria Renard the master of the 4 celestial beasts.
Symphony of the Night
The game that first introduced RPG exploration into the series.
The game is set in the sprawling Castlevania through which Alucard, son of Dracula must venture in his quest to confront, and ultimately destroy his father.
Featuring ground breaking non-linear gameplay, Symphony of the Night helped define a new genre of gameplay by blending RPG elements, exploration and platforming. The vast number of weapons and items found throughout the game allows a diverse range of play styles to be employed.
This game perfected the essence of the Castlevania series with gorgeous artwork and classic soundtrack that carry the player through the game.
Story
Castlevania Rondo of Blood
In the days of old, the people thrived on peace and prosperity. Indeed, fears of unrest were not among their thoughts…
But, ever-present, beneath the veneer of tranquility, evil lurks. Evil, which spurns prosperity and disdains peace.
Gather they did, those who wished to summon the powers of darkness and cleanse the decadence of the world. And, with smiling countenance, they anxiously awaited the coming of their era.
A hundred years had past, and he was resurrected. Able to become bat, wolf, or mist at will, he lived in the night. He drank the blood of young maidens and lived an eternal life. The lord of Castlevania, the god of evil, Count Dracula was reborn.
Castlevania Symphony of the Night
It was Richter Belmont, the legendary vampire hunter, who succeeded in finally ending the menace of Count Dracula, Lord of the Vampires who had been brought back from the grave by the dark priest Shaft in the Rondo of Blood. However, one night 4 years later, under the glare of a full moon, Richter mysteriously vanished.
With no idea where to begin her search, Maria Renard set out to look for him. It was then that fate intervened. Castlevania, the castle of Dracula, which is rumored to appear once every century, suddenly materialized from out of the mist as if to show her the way.
Meanwhile, powerful forces were struggling for the soul of a man named Alucard. The very same Alucard who had teamed up with Trevor Belmont to battle his immortal father, Count Vlad Tepes Dracula. Alucard, in order to purge the world of his own cursed blood line, had submerged his vampiric powers and entered into what was supposed to be an eternal slumber. But now, he is awake and aware of the evil once again at work in his homeland.
The time has once again come for the forces of Good and Evil to engage in their ancient battle. Dracula’s castle beckons you…

A very welcome double pack featuring two of the series’ most notable entries, but which inexplicably ruins the meme-inspiring intro of Symphony Of The Night.

Castlevania: Requiem is a good reminder of the best parts of the series but the collection also makes it more evident that Konami is maybe currently not adept enough to create thrilling new experiences and is only capable of haphazardly bundling together old ones in hopes that we won’t notice the difference.

Castlevania Requiem is a lost opportunity. The comeback of a couple of masterpieces that are lacking in improvements from a technical point of view and are difficult to recommend to everyone nowadays.

Castlevania Requiem is just a port of the unlockable Symphony of the Night and Rondo of Blood from The Dracula X Chronicles. That said, this are two of the best Castlevania titles, which also means two of the best games ever made.

Overall, Castlevania Requiem is an excellent collection of two very important as well as very different Castlevania games. If you have enjoyed the recent Netflix series and don’t know much about the games it is based off, then this is probably the perfect collection to get to grips with the saga.

Two great games in one shallow package. Both Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night are still enjoyable, but Konami could and should have done something more.

Castlevania Requiem: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood does the bare minimum, but it’s still well worth playing. While there are no extras included in this anthology, the two games it contains are some of the best ever made, and one of them has been pretty difficult to come by until now. Aside from the replacement of Symphony of the Night’s wonderfully campy voice acting, both games are delivered in perfect shape and are still as worth playing today as they’ve ever been.

Castlevania Requiem brings to modern consoles what made the franchise successful in the first place. Requiem is not perfect and offers little extra in terms of modernization, but it stays true to the original vision.

Disgusting absurdity. Wanted: Dead review
Wanted: Dead is the worst game released in the last 10 years and, at the same time, a satirical statement. But it is impossible to understand what idea the developers put into the project — this is a terrible product that is tritely unpleasant and hard to play.

Postponements, rumors of problems in the studio, lawsuits with copyright holders, press screenings around the globe — these events attracted the audience to Atomic Heart. The iXBT.Games editors were among the publications that were allowed to feel the project in its full form, go through the game from start to finish and see what the five-year period was spent on at the Mundfish studio. Spoiler: the result blew our minds — Russian developers have never done this before. And hardly anyone will do it in the future.
Silent protagonist: laziness or a way to get involved?
Silent protagonists have always been a part of video game storytelling. They can be found in shooters, horror, platformers and even strategies. While some characters could comment on what was happening, others preferred to act, leaving conversations to secondary characters. How does the silence of the protagonist affect the gameplay and how does this affect the atmosphere? Let’s find out!

Hogwarts: Legacy is already the main event of the year. A sophisticated player who is not familiar with the Harry Potter universe is unlikely to immerse himself in this world and understand the value of the project. But for Harry Potter fans, this is one of the most magical games in recent years. And it is impossible to deny this fact.

As a space opera, Mass Effect lacks true alien races. All the so-called aliens have too much in common with humans. Yes, they may have extra eyes and limbs, they have unusual abilities. But this is only an illusion, under which there is nothing extraterrestrial. Or so it seems only at first glance? Let’s find out now!
