Patch Notes: Bulletstorm

This day-of-release patch brings Bulletstorm to version 1.0.1, addressing a number of issues that popped up at the last minute and introducing some fun new features.

Thanks to our customers for supporting this game, especially the PC gamers that paid $10 more than the platform’s average title in exchange for being mocked if they complained about not getting a demo, then being told that they were lucky to have anything at all since they’re probably pirates.

On to the changes!

Gameplay

  • Bullets now do damage.
  • To emphasize the fact that this is NOT a cover-based shooter but a frantic high risk high reward thrill ride, we added a number of additional objects for players to hide behind and waste time vaulting over.
  • Removed several underwhelming kill combos such as «kick a guy, wait for him to get up, get shot by him, kick him again, then try to shoot him in the butt but miss and hit his torso» and «shoot a guy with a gun».
  • Added a jump button. It’s hidden somewhere in the second level. Good luck finding it!
  • Reworked the stealth sections. Now they’re also escort missions, and being seen by an enemy is an instant game over.
  • Players are no longer just scored on the creativity of their kills, but also on their ability to tap an unused button as many times per minute as possible. Thanks to StarCraft II for that one.
  • New gameplay mechanic: Shoot bad guys as they try to shoot you.

Graphics

  • Following Epic’s mandate, made all characters’ feet 50% bigger and added texture pop-in.
  • There was a little too much blood flying around in previous versions. We’ve replaced most of it with intact bones and the fleeting visages of souls screaming in terror as they face the void of oblivion.
  • Out of respect to all the other shooters out there, we pulled back on most of our gorgeous, colorful, and creative environments, replacing most of them with rubble and warehouses.
  • Made the chick’s boobs bigger. This works because she’s a strong woman, you know, the kind that’s hyper sexualized and basically acts like an overly macho man.
  • Optional alt-fire on every weapon now fills the screen with a nuclear explosion, leaving a sweet afterimage on your monitor for more than thirty minutes.

Sound

  • Added audio cues to point out when slow-motion kicks in. Every time this happens, you should hear Grayson exclaim «Evvveryttthiiing isss sooo sloooow!»
  • You know how Duty Calls made that hilarious «boring» sound when a gun was fired? We decided to incorporate something similar in Bulletstorm. Every time you pull the trigger, you hear the sound of a tongue slapping against a cheek, just to let you know that this game is tongue in cheek, in case you couldn’t tell, because we really want to drive that point home.
  • Brought Steve Blum back in to record more lazy, extreme quips that are so over the top they know they’re over the top, and therefore are immune to criticism. Look forward to catchphrases such as «see you later, clit nugget» and «your guts smell like abortion».
  • The soundtrack has been completely replaced with constant gunfire and cursing.

Rape

  • In reaction to the Fox News story, we decided to cut back on the amount of rape in the game. We are now just below the level of rape found in the original Mass Effect, where players used online capabilities to engage in virtual orgasmic rape.

Dungeons
With graphics that have less personality and gameplay that’s far less engaging, it’s appropriate that the game’s title is half of Dungeon Keeper with an unnecessary addition. 4/10

Stacking
Marry me, Double Fine, and while we’re on our honeymoon every adventure game developer should sneak into your bathroom and steal the «encourage players to find multiple solutions to every puzzle» concept, because the bathroom is where you keep that. 8/10

Marvel Vs. Capcom 3: Fate Of Two Worlds
I have no idea what’s going on and spend most of my time being chain-punched into the stratosphere, but I like it. 7/10

Body And Brain Connection
The brain is part of the body, game, and now I have defeated your test. 5/10

You Don’t Know Jack
Easily the funniest quiz game to come along since Hollywood Squares. 8/10

Test Drive Unlimited 2
Because when I think of driving games, I think of terrible Rockstar-like cutscenes presented in the douchey style of Playstation Home. 6/10

Mario Sports Mix
As it turns out, taking several small games that no one in their right mind would pay for and putting them in a collection makes for one big game that no one in their right mind would pay for. 3/10

Co-Optimus — News — Bulletstorm Patched on the PC


PC owners of Bulletstorm can expect some changes.  A recent update improves matchmaking features, XP displays, and implements some other minor tweaks.  This patch should ready the game for the Gun Sonata DLC pack, which still doesn’t have a PC release date, yet.  You can see our impressions of the Gun Sonata DLC here, or read our full review of Bulletstorm here.  


Bulletstorm supports four player online co-op in Anarchy Mode.  It’s available on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.  You can see all of the features of the update after the break.


• Allows matchmaking for users purchasing downloadable Anarchy maps (Gun Sonata DLC Pack)

• Fix for experience gains bar sometimes overlapping its UI space after matches during XP Multiplier Events

• Fix for the Team version of the Double Penetration skillshot not appearing when used against Challenge enemies in some cases

• Fix for the MOTD sometimes scrolling too fast after game launch

• Anarchy Environmental Skillshot points are now accurate in the Multiplayer Skillshot Database

• A player’s Quick Match lobby will now properly recover to display «Searching» if the other players in the lobby leave during the map vote tally

• Fix for extra points appearing in HUD during the Collapsed Building Echo (was causing it to appear as if the player «lost» points when falling through the doors in that Echo)

• Fixed an instance of a crash while the game is reloading checkpoint after player death

• Players can now exit the game from the title screen by using the ESCAPE key

• Fix for certain resolutions lowering performance (FPS)

• Fixes to enforce 2-way muting rules that were not being respected under different circumstances

Hello! Jo-Ellen on the line. Thank you for your feedback on Quick Play. We’re glad you enjoyed this mode so much! In the meantime, we have updated Killjoy with Raze and fixed various bugs.

CHANGES TO AGENTS

Killjoy

After the Chamber balance was changed and the generator’s durability increased (the «Lock» skill), Killjoy became the most popular guardian in the game. In patch 5.12, we decided not to reduce the durability of the Killjoy turret — given how the balance was then, but now these changes are needed, and we are making them.

  • Turret (E): health reduced from 125 to 100.
    • Enemies will now be able to destroy the turret faster, especially if their weapons are not very powerful.
  • Block (X): cost increased from 7 to 8 points.
    • We like the effectiveness of Killjoy’s ultimate against players who aren’t going to destroy the generator, but since it’s more durable now, the frequency of use should be reduced.

Raze

We noticed that the reconnaissance capabilities of the bomber were too high, so we reduced its area of ​​​​action to reduce its functionality to clearing corner zones.

  • Bomb Launcher (C) — Duration reduced from 10 to 5 seconds.

GAME SYSTEM UPDATE

  • Added the largest deviation of shooting from the aim direction in degrees in the shooting error graph. Previously, statistics did not take into account the error vector when shooting, but now the graph will display the largest deviation from the possible direction of the bullet, expressed in degrees.
  • Added new setting «Operator (hold)». It will allow you to switch to level 2 zoom by holding the secondary fire button. We’ve reverted the scope zoom to the way it was before patch 6.0.
  • Crosshair zoom when switching from weapon selection to zoom/alternative fire mode now looks the same as it did before patch 6.0.

MODE CHANGES

Quick Play

  • Remember we said the Quick Play beta will end in January? Well, we cheated a little. All unanimously decided to leave the new regime. Your opinion about it will still not be superfluous, so keep sending feedback!

SOCIAL CHANGES

  • Real-time automatic text analysis has been added to the agent selection screen (currently only available in North America).

BUG FIXES

  • Changed the hair height of Sage, Neon, Jett and Yoru. Now it matches the standard height range.
  • Automatically moving objects (eg Skye’s [X] bloodhounds) will now pass through a low area on Pearl near the defender’s base.
  • Fixed a bug due to which KAY/O could sometimes move after death during the «NULL/cmd» (X) skill.
  • Fixed a bug due to which one of the two players using the same cable on Fracture at the same time fell down and crashed to death. Thanks for reporting this bug on Reddit!
  • Fixed a bug due to which, after several reconnections to a match during a round, the door on any of the maps was incorrectly displayed as open or closed.
  • Fixed a bug due to which, after frequently pressing the zoom button, the Marshal scope continued to randomly zoom in and out.

Vantage Survival Sniper

Ciomara «Mara» Contreras is a master survivalist, able to detect threats from thousands of meters in the scope of her sniper rifle. TACTICAL SKILL: Echolocation

Position your winged Echo companion and then move to it. Echo must be in line of sight to move.

SPECIAL POWER: Sniper’s Mark

Mark enemy targets with your custom sniper rifle to get bonus damage on them for you and your team.

NEW UPDATED CANYON KINGS

In season 5, the Skull City and Thunderdome were buried by a massive explosion by Loba. With the rescue operations now complete, the Syndicate has converted the area to Apex games. The dredges filled the sinkholes with ocean sand, and a new battlefield was restored and adorned with a legendary skull right in the middle. Read more about the Kings Canyon map update here.

INCREASE MAXIMUM LEVEL

Players can now level up an account above level 500 by 3 additional tiers of 500 levels, reaching a maximum level of 500 tier 3. This increase adds 345 additional Apex Packs that can be obtained by leveling up an account and ensures that everyone will be able to get a relic just by playing the game. The total number of Apex Packs earned by leveling up an account is now 544.

BATTLE PASS

Some Battle Pass Challenges can now be completed in both Battle Royale and non-Battle Royale modes, giving you more freedom in how you complete the Battle Pass.

Crafting UPDATE

  • Collector Team Use: When any player interacts with a Material Collector, all players in the team receive materials.
  • Explosive shells have been removed from craftable.
  • Threshing ammo removed from base crafting list and added to RE-45 crafting list.
  • Price for heavy, energy and sniper magazines increased from 25 to 35.

  • Added the ability to use button «press» interaction hints even if they conflict with the «hold» action (for example, reloading near knocked out allies now has a better chance of success when using a controller).
  • An increase in the number of materials displayed in the upper right area of ​​the interface will be noted visually.
  • Items available for crafting will be marked visually in the crafting station interface.
  • Added the ability to enable/disable TTS (text-to-speech), the default setting is determined by your console or system settings (where available).
  • Landing craft now displays the location where the player will land.

ERROR CORRECTION

  • The scope size when firing from the hip now depends on the angle of view.
  • Fixed an issue where canceling Lifeline’s revive would also cancel all other teammates that Lifeline had revived.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented players from dealing melee damage to Caustic Gas Barrels or Octane’s Jump Trampolines.
