I’m so, so, so so tired of having AFK teammates in every single game mode I join. No matter what, there is always someone sitting at the bottom of the leaderboard with 0 points, someone sitting idly at spawn, someone just in the game to take up space. Recently, it seems like there are upwards of four people at a time just doing absolutely nothing.
Please implement a faster kick for inactivity, maybe 5 or so minutes, because I’m so tired of having AFK people taking up space in the lobby when even AI could help out more than they do or they could be replaced by people actually playing the game. It’s not fun to deal with at all.
I would also like to ask just why in the world people do this in the first place. Why join a game if you’re not even going to play? Why are you there? You don’t screw up other people’s games by sitting idly in Giddy Park. Especially in Battle Arena, why did you join if you aren’t going to play the game? It’s so aggravating.

@SockReverie I feel like the reason for this is for the hope that players will earn a free win by allowing their teammates to do all the work — which is not fair in any way, shape or form. At least your teammates should at least try to contribute at a minimum. Especially relevant in Battle Arena — because Battle Arena is highly skill based and working as a team is really important, having teammates that are AFK are most likely going to make your team lose anyway. I can’t see any point on why your team should AFK to try and gain free wins. It’s an ineffective strategy. Having Al is better than AFK teammates, so I can most happily agree with having a quicker kick time for AFK players. After all, what’s the point of having teammates that ruin games? Even Al don’t AFK.

There is another reason that a player ends a match with zero points. Quite often, BFN puts me in a match at the very end. Today, I had a match end before I even got a chance to pick my character.

I would be happier if they longer the duration you can be AFK. Now it seems like I can’t go anywhere, it will automatically kick me.

@SockReverie I think some people are AFK because they are maybe kids, and their mother just wanted their help so they think «When i end helping mother I would still play so why should I leave?»

The kick for inactivity is long, AFK players usually get kicked after a full game is finished.
Some people just move about so they don’t get kicked, and earn gold and XP for doing nothing. Five minutes is still a bit long. They should be more stricter and put it for a minute or two.

@SockReverie Well, especially in BA, they ban people for Rage Quitting sooo. I mean, tbf, they do have an AFK system that can even log u out of the servers, but it’s way too slow imo. And sometimes, I get kicked out of lobbies and the AKF message comes up!

Match rewards should be tweaked because right now you get coins for simply existing.In GW2 performance matters. I mean, I get it, we want a fun not too stressful environment, but we still need some challenge.

I’ve seen a bunch of players simply standing at spawn throughout the match.
Then I’ve noticed the players in my squad won’t even spawn throughout the match. Leaves me in a kinda ghost squad where I’m the only one spawning. Did they remove the idle kick?

@HJ_Spacewar There might be an issue with the idle kick. I friend reported, that he was frequently kicked out of matches while the squad leader was AFK, and then joined a new match.
So I think there is an idle kick, but that doesn’t stop the «search for match» cycle. So that way you have idle players join new matches, until they are kicked.

I heard when the round is over players are automatically put back into matchmaking.
Probably explains a lot of AFK players. Or AFC for console players (away from controller).
Or as kregora said, they get idle kicked and automatically put back into matchmaking. Over and over again.

@kregora Thanks. I went ahead and just tested the whole process.
First match I joined was in progress and I was kicked after about 3 or 4 minutes. Went back to home screen with auto join starting. Joined new match. This time it was the beginning match with intro. Got killed by a pilot at spawn. Sat idle for the rest of the match and didn’t get kicked. I was also the squad leader this time (if that makes a diff).
So I’m not sure the parameters of the kick but it doesn’t seem to be idle 3 minutes equals kick.

@HJ_Spacewar Maybe there is a difference if AI is present in the match?
Maybe idle players only get kicked, when the match is fullwith human players, and the spot is needed to match waiting players into a match?

@HJ_Spacewar I had the same experience as @kregora described the other day when my party leader was AFK.
I was changing server a few time some minutes in each game till I realize the cause.

@kregora well either way I’m seeing a lot of recently. Last couple days I’ve had entire squads that aren’t spawning. Maybe only happens once and a while but it’s annoying.

idle kick only works efter spawn, you can just sit and wait for your favorite vehicle to come available or walk the dog or whatever in meny

Hey easy now guys, idle timeout is a legacy feature.
How otherwise are EA to keep showing so impressive high player population numbers for the BF2042 AOW game area! 😂
However, if you need to go for a bio-break while hosting your own portal server, then you are kicked after 3 mins idle time…

I’ve got no clue how the idle kick feature works, but I’ve certainly witnessed friends be AFK for the entire duration of a game (30 minutes) without being kicked, and on the other end where friends have been kicked after AFKing for 5 minutes.
This has been across new games, games that have already been started, even if they havnt been squad leader, lobbies full of players, lobbies full of bots.
Even had a friend fully AFK for a hour across two games of breakthrough and he was never kicked for the game itself.**

Kicked out of an «Apex Legends» match for inactivity.

While playing in single player mode, in Apex Legends, a banner popped up for me with the inscription «You are kicked for inactivity», but all this time I was in front of the monitor, moving the cannon, but did not move, and even opened the map (Good zone fell out where no one touched me).
Because of this banner, I had to leave the rink where I stayed in the top 3 and the zone narrowed in my favor (giving me no motivation to move).
I ask you to remake the inactivity system, or at least compensate me for a successful match, but destroyed by a flaw in the system.
I don’t know if the developers are on this forum and if they care about my complaint, but I bought a season pass and I’m waiting for the development team to be concerned about this issue. The game is not forbidden to sit in a protracted ambush, and it turned out somehow insulting.
P.S
The very system «Kick for inaction» in the Royal battle does not make sense because of the zone, and the possibility of dying in it, or being killed by other players.

@TedHunter2001 I also encountered this cretinism yesterday. In a rating match, I was left alone in the squad, all the allies died, so I went to get the rating by survival, sat up to the top5, found the norms of a nick on the edge of the zone and I’m sitting with a snap, surveying the area calmly, and then kicking from the game for inaction, at first I didn’t even drove in what kind of nonsense they write to me, and then just fell into a sediment.
The most ridiculous thing is that the rating points were not counted to me, and this, by the way, is 3kil + top5, the game was not counted at all. You can say 20 minutes spent on nothing. Absolutely stupid system.

@Rebellion_Of_One There are two options, either the reports do not work stupidly, or they simply do not pay attention to this violation, because then you will have to ban 70 percent of the players, banning for leaving the public is ridiculous, especially old and seasoned players are already pouring after they just got knocked out and haven’t finished off yet, here it’s not even talking about the fact that the dudes don’t want to wait for the res and loot in a new way.

@BaryaBobis there are many variations of reports in the apex, that’s just the meaning of them… there is for example inactivity during the match, but people don’t get banned for afk or for super passive play, or two squads in collusion apex rating on each other, but they don’t get banned for this either, so from this entire list, they may pay attention to 2-3 types of reports. With regards to the public, in any normal game there is no punishment for leaving regular matches, this is a normal practice, if the developers of the apex do not want strong online drawdowns, then there will be no penalties in the apex either.
