Ambrosia
A ghost eating Ambrosia.
Ambrosia is a unique and powerful single-serving meal, which can be prepared in The Sims 3 and The Sims 4. Ambrosia is able to reverse aging in living Sims, and is able to bring ghost Sims back to life replacing the Resurrect-O-Nomitron. Ambrosia is among the most difficult meals to prepare due to the rarity of its ingredients, the high skills necessary to obtain the ingredients and cook the meal, and the cost of purchasing the recipe book, although this price is reasonable with a high paying job.

The Sims 3[]
Effects on normal Sims[]
A Sim eating Ambrosia
When eaten, there will be a large, impressive looking explosion of energy around the Sim, triggering three effects:
- Restores the hunger need to full;
- Bestows the Divine Meal moodlet on the Sim, boosting their mood by 75 for an entire week;
- Resets the Sim’s age to the start of that life stage — for example, if a Sim is 25 days into the young adult stage, they will be reset to 0.
- Notes on how ambrosia works
- If ambrosia is used to reset a Sim’s age (instead of reviving a ghost) it will always reset the age to the set number days left for the life cycle. For example, if an adult eats an ambrosia they will have 26 days left. If they then eat a life fruit to have 27 days left, then eats another ambrosia the same day, the days left will revert to 26 days as if they had never eaten the life fruit.
- The Sim’s age reset is currently slightly bugged — if a Sim eats the Ambrosia at the day of the Sim’s birthday, it will reset the age bar, but the Sim will age up later that day. It can be avoided by eating a life fruit after the ambrosia. Ambrosia also does not make a vegetarian sim nauseous after eating it even though it contains fish.
Effects on ghosts[]
Ambrosia, soon to be eaten by a ghost sim.
Ambrosia also has a more well known effect that applies only to ghosts. When they eat it, it resurrects them, turning them back into a normal Sim at the age stage they were at the time of death. The Sim acquires the Divine Meal moodlet, floats in the air, and a note is given stating that the Sim has been «resurrected» as they return to their original coloring.[n 1]
A ghost’s offspring can also be converted into normal Sims and will retain the float animation instead of walking but will lose the ability to walk through walls. Despite this, other Sims will no longer react to them as if they were ghosts (e.g. in disgust, fear, excitement). Sims not born as ghosts will not retain the floating animation after being resurrected.
Cooking requirements[]
All of the ingredients for ambrosia are unobtainable from stores (without mods), so these skills are required to make this food. However, one Sim does not need to have all these skills, and Plumbots can possess all the required skills with a single trait chip. Multiple Sims can be used to obtain ingredients.
However, buyers of the Al Fresco Market with the Humble Harvest Stand from The Sims 3 Store can occasionally buy Life Fruit from the stands, so the Gardening skill may or may not be required.
- Items and ingredients
- Ambrosia recipe book (§12,000)
- Deathfish
- Life fruit
- Skills[n 2]
- Cooking (level 10)
- Fishing (level 5 with angelfish bait/level 10 without)
- Gardening (level 7/not required when bought the Al Fresco market, buy from there)
First, actually cooking the dish requires level 10 Cooking skill, and the recipe book required to learn it is expensive (§12,000).
Second, the first component, deathfish, needs level 10 fishing skill to catch. These fish can only be caught from Graveyard between midnight and 5AM, or all day long in a deathfish stocked pond, with angelfish bait.[n 3] If the Sim is an angler, bait isn’t needed nor do they have the time constraint to catch fish. Players can also catch 10 deathfish and «stock» a pond at home with them for all day access.
If the Sim has read a book that reveals the bait from the deathfish, then the Sim is able to catch the fish at level 5 fishing skill and above (though the book is readable at level 7 and above).
Finally, the Ambrosia recipe requires life fruit, which is only growable from Life Seeds, which are only plantable at level 7 gardening. The seeds can be found randomly scattered about town labeled as «Unknown Special Seeds», especially around or in the graveyard, after reaching stage 7 of the science career (the life fruit will show up in a Sim’s inventory after a while) or as a reward from an opportunity from the EverFresh Delights Supermarket. These can also be picked in the tomb of the sky in Al Simhara with World Adventures or Tuatha’s Garden, a hidden tomb in Champs Les Sims under the deserted island, which is only accessible by destroying for giant rocks with Pangu’s Axe in the northwest of France. However, the level 7 gardening is not compulsory as the Fruit Stand also sells life fruits and as rabbit holes such as time machines can give Sims a random object, which includes Life Fruit. Players also can buy a life plant if using «testingcheatenabled» and «buydebug» cheat.
Sims can prepare the meal any time of day, and Sims will eat it autonomously.
Storing[]
Ambrosia is different from other dishes in a number of ways. After cooking it, if your Sim leaves it sitting around the lot, it will not spoil, but remain at Perfect quality. This could be simply a glitch.
Ambrosia cannot normally be duplicated in a Food Replicator; a glitch in the game allows the player to store ambrosia in the Food Replicator if cooking it has started and then canceled when its model changes to a bowl. The food replicator will then give finished Ambrosia dishes, however they will always be a «Normal» quality due to the meal never actually being finished. To get around this, have a Sim with the Natural Cook trait «Kick It Up a Notch», which will bring the replicated Ambrosia to «Perfect» quality again. Storing it in a refrigerator will «divide» the dish into numerous servings until it spoils.
The Sims 4[]
Ambrosia, as it appears in The Sims 4.
The effects of Ambrosia are the same in The Sims 4 as in The Sims 3; however it is much harder to obtain, requiring a Death Flower (which requires grafting various plants), an Angelfish, and a Potion of Youth as well as Level 10 in both the Cooking and Gourmet Cooking skills. Thus, it may not be worth using it to make a living Sim younger, since that can be accomplished using the Potion of Youth. Its best use is for resurrecting deceased Sims.
Cooking requirements[]
- Ingredients
- Death flower (Graft Pomegranate and Orchid to get the death flower)
- Angelfish (Found in the Willow Creek river near a boat)
- Potion of Youth (Purchase from Rewards Store)
- Skills
- Level 10 in Cooking and Gourmet Cooking skills.
Once the Sim has obtained all the ingredients, they can make Ambrosia from the fridge by selecting Gourmet Cooking. When a ghost eats Ambrosia, they rise up into the air and return to their normal coloring like in The Sims 3.
The ingredients for ambrosia can also be bought in the debug section by using the cheat bb.showhiddenobjects.
With the Realm of Magic game pack, it is possible to purchase both angelfish and death flowers from the alchemy stall in The Magic Realm. Also, Spellcasters who know the «Copypasto» spell are able to clone finished Ambrosia dishes.
- This section is in need of additional information. You can help The Sims Wiki by expanding this section.
Trivia[]
- Ambrosia is the food of the gods in Greek mythology. It was said to bestow immortality upon anyone who consumed it.
- In The Sims 3, Ghosts that have become playable and are part of a household are the only Sims allowed to eat the Ambrosia. It cannot be eaten autonomously by a townie ghost that is haunting or visiting a lot by any means. Interactions like «Call To Meal» will fail except for living Sims. In The Sims 4 starting with November 25, 2014 patch, any Sim that is not part of the household will no longer eat Ambrosia autonomously.
- Ambrosia and the Baked Angel Food Cake are the only foods in The Sims 3 that require Sims to have the ingredients to prepare it because the ingredients can’t be purchased from the refrigerator. This is further widened by Frog Legs from The Sims 3 World Adventures.
- With the addition of potions in Generations, if one is desiring only to extend a Sim’s lifespan they might consider instead creating the Young Again Potion, which only requires mastering the logic skill and a payment of §5000, arguably much easier to achieve than the multiple skills and ingredients needed for Ambrosia.
Notes[]
- ↑ In The Sims 3, Oh My Ghost! opportunity is required to turn ghosts into playable Sims so that they can be commanded to consume it. In The Sims 4, the ghost needs to be asked to join a playable household via a high friendship. NPC ghosts will never eat Ambrosia autonomously in all lot types. This ensures that the Sim will not be homeless upon resurrection.
- ↑ The skill levels listed are those that are required to actually cook ambrosia. Growing a life fruit require level 7 Gardening, nonetheless.
- ↑ Angelfish can be caught at the pool with the waterfall using the regular lure or alley catfish as bait. This can be found out in-game by using an angelfish until catching the deathfish or by reading the level 7 fishing book «Fishing for the Dead: Deathfish and Vampire fish on the Line» that can be bought for §12,000 at Divisadero Bookshop.

Ambrosia is a dish that can be used to revive a ghost or extend the life of a Sim. 0019
Found only in the cemetery pond, caught at night from 00.00 to 05.00 only for angel fish. Angel fish — caught on catfish, which in turn is caught on cheese. You can catch this death fish starting at fishing level 9.
- Fruit of life
Find and plant a seed or one of the fruits. Seeds are also more likely to be found near graveyards, and a level 7 gardening skill is also required. By growing this bush, you will be able to collect the fruits of life — each fruit eaten by your Sim will rejuvenate him by one day.
Not particularly common and occurs as seed class «Unknown seed, special» .Ambrosia requires cooking level 10 + learned recipe (purchased from bookstore). Put the ingredients — Life Fruit and Death Fish — in your Sim’s personal inventory or refrigerator, click on the stove/refrigerator and select « Get Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner» to cook Ambrosia.

- Death that is not added to the family does not age.
- At the end of the funeral, one of the family members can call their friends and relatives on the phone and organize a wake. It counts as a party.
- Usually ghosts can be found in the cemetery from 12 am to 4 am.
- In the sims 3 career ghosts started to leave the cemetery and go home by taxi or bicycle, this is due to the profession of a ghost hunter.
- You can enter into a relationship with a ghost and have children from him. Moreover, both the ghost from the ghost, and the living from the ghost. The child is born both as a ghost and as a living character.
- From death you can become pregnant and give birth.
- Pets can intimidate ghosts into tombstones.
- In order for your pet to frighten off the ghost, it is enough to call the command Drive to the tombstone on behalf of the pet. This feature is only available to pets with trait Zlyuka . After the command is given, your pet will go directly to the ghost and will intimidate him in every possible way. Cats hiss, dogs growl. The frightened ghost turns to dust and returns to its gravestone. The pet gains a memory.
- The ghost will only be listed as a character’s acquaintances when they are on the same lot.
- The grave of a ghost friend can be taken from the cemetery and placed on your site, while a kleptomaniac can “skleptomaniac” any grave at all. If one of the citizens died, his grave will be in the mausoleum in the cemetery, it can be taken into your luggage using option Take care of the dead (unfortunately, the graves are often lost). From the character’s luggage, the grave can be placed anywhere in the cemetery or on your lot by simply dragging it to the ground.
- If you keep the graves on the home plot, you need to prepare for the fact that the ghosts will constantly mischief in the house.
- All sorts of afterlife sounds will be heard during the presence of a ghost on the site. Cowardly characters will faint when they see them, but the evil ones will be pleased with the presence of ghosts on the site (they generally like to walk around the cemetery at night). The other characters will resent seeing a ghost, even if two ghosts meet.
- It is undesirable for the character to live in a skyscraper — tombstones in them often disappear.
- Ghost children can only be possessed by controlled ghosts, small children cannot die.
- With the help of a ghost gnome, you can arrange a party of ghosts on your lot.
- The character’s ashes can be sent to a scientific institute. A close relative of the deceased will receive a call from the scientific institute, or the character can drive there himself and see what actions are available.

- Like Sims, Sims 3 pets can be resurrected at the Science Institute or by eating ambrosia. The character takes the tombstone to the Science Institute and resurrects the controlled ghost pet.
- You can start breeding controllable ghost puppies/kittens/foals. When mating an ordinary animal with a ghostly one, the chance of having a ghostly offspring is 50%. If both parents are ghosts, the chance is 100%. Whatever color the ghost parents are, the offspring will still be blue.
- Pet ghosts can interact with other pets.
- A dog ghost can dig holes, a cat ghost can hunt, and a horse ghost can ride, and the horse will still have a saddle after death. Unicorns can also have ghosts. They can conjure, as in life.
- Small pets die of old age, your cat’s abuse, or lack of care. By clicking on the terrarium or cage where the animal lived, the Sim will be able to grieve for the pet, and then with peace of mind to clean the cage and get a new one. Death for small animals does not come, you can find out about death after a pop-up window appears.
- There is no ghost of a deer or a raccoon
- Puppies, kittens and foals cannot die, but ghost offspring exist with ghost parents
- One of the Happiness rewards for dogs is a rejuvenating potion that can be used on older dogs. ghost old becomes young
- Pets have special tombstones and urns, and the type of tombstone does not depend on happiness points

#5
- Occasionally, a Sim who has recently lost a loved one receives a call from a research institute offering to revive the deceased. It is enough just to come to them with any grave in your luggage and get a controlled ghost at the exit. In the future, as many ghosts can be revived in this family as there is enough money (each subsequent revive costs § 5000). The task from the institute falls into the character’s special goals slot
- Players now have the ability to spawn ghosts in character creation mode and choose how they die (all types are available, except death from thirst for vampires)
- Philosopher’s Stone — an item that allows to bind the ghost a, i.e. make any uncontrollable ghost in the city controllable and add it to the character’s family
- Controlled ghosts have the same needs as any other Sim. They can work, marry and, if age permits, have children
- Controlled ghosts are not immortal, they grow, age and «die» of old age. After that, they will not disappear anywhere, but will simply become uncontrollable again. Controlled Ghost Can’t Die Again
- Each ghost in their luggage has a grave that can be used to return to the world of the dead. To do this, click on the grave in his luggage and select the command return to the underworld
- Uncontrolled ghosts also have differences from living characters. They can walk through walls and scare other Sims. They will forget how to move into objects after “revival”, but only for the time that they are in a controlled family (controlled ghosts living in other families of the city constantly move into objects)
- Controlled ghosts are awkward to be friends with if they are not part of a controlled family, because they do not appear in the friends list unless the character is on the same lot with them (same as with uncontrolled ghosts)
- Supernatural characters who become controlled by ghosts retain some of their special abilities, but if the character is already a ghost, they cannot become supernatural with an elixir or someone’s bite
- You can have a child from an uncontrolled ghost by visiting him in the cemetery and inviting him to your home. If one of the parents is alive, there is a 50% chance of a ghost child appearing. With ghost parents, the child will definitely be a ghost.
- Characters can have a ghost child using a ghost potion. If both parents are temporary ghosts at the time of conception, they may have a ghost child.
- Children of ghosts act like children of living characters

- Have the trait unlucky . Death laughs at the dying character and always gives him another chance. Does not affect death from old age
- Use Philosopher’s Stone
- Use a witch’s magic spell (she can summon zombies from the grave)
- Rarely revives are triggered by a random time travel event when the moodlet appears Food of the Gods
- Make a wish to the genie. In this case, the character who returned from the other world will not be a ghost, but will be the same as he was before his death

Author: BonaQua Last edit by moderator: BonaQua Many people torment themselves with the question, but how to become death in Sims 3 You cannot become death, but you can give birth to a child from death! To do this, you need to make friends with death. Death is a male character, so there must be characters on the lot, among which there must be a female character
Requires The Sims 3 At dusk Death, adopted into the family, will behave like a normal character, but in an unusual costume. Last edit by moderator: Selesta
ada-ridleHello everyone. Yesterday I decided to leave ambrosia in the cemetery. Some of the ghosts ate it, became people, went to their home, I followed where, but they reach any place, cafe or just the territory of the house where it has not yet been built and disappear. And there is no tombstone in the cemetery, apparently after the resurrection they also disappear. I looked in the family by last name, they are also not in the family. And they are in friends, you can even call them and invite them to visit you. So where do they live? Maybe I’m asking in the wrong place, where is the chatterbox about such an unusual thing?
