Pikachu will disappear from the Pokemon series

Ash Ketchum and Pikachu, the central figures of the Pokemon media franchise, will not appear in the new seasons of the anime series. They will be replaced by characters that have not previously appeared in the Pokémon universe, called Face and Swarm.

“A brand new Pokemon series has been announced! Join 2 new characters and 3 Paldea starter Pokémon as you journey through the world of Pokémon! Also, commemorate Ash’s journey with special episodes ending Pokemon Ultimate Journeys: The Series,» the franchise tweeted. The last episodes of the series with the old characters will air on January 13, 2023. nine0003

The publication is accompanied by a video showing the new main characters of Pokemon. It is not specified whether the franchise update will affect card and computer games.

The first episode of a series based on the Pokemon video game series was released in 1997. The anime enjoys tremendous commercial success and is shown in 177 countries around the world.

In November, The Toy Zone conducted a study that showed that Pikachu is the most recognizable and popular Pokémon in the franchise.

nine0000 Pokemon Go brought the creators $500 million

The game Pokemon Go brought the creators $500 million / E. Razumny / Vedomosti

Users of the popular game Pokemon Go have already spent more than $500 million on it, follows from the data of the analytical company AppAnnie. We are talking about users from all over the world who have downloaded the game through the AppStore and Google Play app stores. AppAnnie predicts that by the end of 2016, Pokemon Go will bring its creators at least $1 billion.

Pokemon Go is an augmented reality game. Its goal is to find and train Pokémon — virtual animals — in the real world, and then participate in battles with other players’ Pokémon. The game itself is free — users spend money on in-game purchases. According to YouGov, an international market research center, every fifth player spends money on additional paid features of the application. nine0003

In terms of revenue growth, Pokemon Go is the absolute record holder. The game managed to earn $500 million in just 60 days since the launch of the project in July this year. Other popular games such as Candy Crash Saga, Clash of Clans and Puzzle & Dragons took 200 and 400 days respectively to achieve this result.

Who owns Pokemon

The developer of Pokemon Go — Niantic was founded by Google alum John Hanke, creator of Google Maps and Google Streets, as well as the product that Google Earth was based on. Niantic spun off from Google in August 2015 and soon announced a $30 million investment from The Pokemon Company, Google and Nintendo. The Pokemon Company owns a share of the rights to the Pokemon trademark. Nintendo recently told investors that it has no control over the Pokemon Go game and only owns a 23% stake in The Pokemon Company. After that, Nintendo quotes fell by 18%. nine0003

However, user payments will no longer be the sole source of revenue for Pokemon Go. In early September, Japanese SoftBank and McDonalds agreed with game developer Niantic on a partnership: now 3,700 stores and restaurants will be designated in the game as pokstops (Pokestop) and gyms (Pokemon Gyms).

These are places marked on the game map that match the real places where players gather to get bonuses and the necessary tools to continue playing.
