March typically follows a certain pattern for PS Plus, and if anyone was questioning it, the PS Plus free games for March 2022 speak for themselves.
Month after month, PS Plus subscribers are curious about what will come to the service next. This leads to a lot of speculation and PS Plus wish lists, and the best among these are often rooted in patterns. It’s not an exact science, but there are occasionally patterns repeated among the PS Plus free games selection that fans have identified time and again.
Last month, there was a lot of speculation that PS Plus free games for March 2022 would be the best selection in recent months, compared to some of the best of recent years. It makes perfect sense as a pattern, but PS Plus patterns come to an end. Thus, many may have worried about the March 2022 selection, but while each month is always a subjective case, it seems PS Plus’ March pattern continues on.

PS Plus Free Games for March 2022 – The Big March Pattern Explained
Last month, many PS Plus subscribers were discussing how March tends to have some of the best games of the year, if not the absolute best. This is a justifiable thought and obviously built a ton of hype for March 2022 games. This pattern goes back through 2018, meaning it can certainly be considered a pattern. For March 2018, 6 games dropped for the service, but it wasn’t a PS Plus quantity over quality situation. Among these games, Bloodborne and Ratchet and Clank stand out, but the whole month is top-notch.
For March 2019, PS Plus subscribers got Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered and The Witness. Again, both are solid games, but Modern Warfare Remastered was likely the runaway.
It released here at the height of a new wave of Call of Duty hype. March 2020 saw Shadow of the Colossus and Sonic Forces join the service, and again, both these games were well-loved and accepted by fans.
March 2021 took this pattern and nailed it home. Farpoint VR, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Remnant: From the Ashes, and more joining the service, really putting the “big” in the “Big March” pattern. Some of these months had more sprinkled on top, but what’s clear is that March has a legacy to uphold.
How PS Plus Free Games for March 2022 Keeps the Pattern Going
It’s hard to compare to Bloodborne, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, Shadow of the Colossus, and Final Fantasy 7 Remake. But, at least well enough to keep this pattern going for everyone, the PS Plus free games for March 2022 are certainly the best thus far this year. PS Plus free games for January 2022 were petty solid, but the PS Plus free games for February 2022 were filled with controversy.
The only controversial aspect of this PS Plus March 2022 lineup is some technical difficulties with Ghost of Tsushima: Legends.
The PS Plus free games for March 2022 include ARK: Survival Evolved, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, Ghostrunner, and Team Sonic Racing. The sheer quality and variety of games here speak for themselves. ARK is a survival, sandbox game, while Ghost of Tsushima: Legends is a Samurai-inspired, mythical multiplayer standalone expansion. Ghostrunner is a lightning-fast, cyberpunk action platformer, while Team Sonic Racing is a kart racing game based on the classic franchise.
As this upholds the pattern, the next big question is pretty obvious: what will PS Plus give away for March 2023?

Free PS Plus Games for March 2022 Are Available Now, But There’s Still a Wildcard

PlayStation Plus subscribers can claim the new free games for March 2022 right now, but there’s still another game to consider later in the month.
Every month, PlayStation Plus subscribers are able to claim a new batch of free games for their collection. March is no exception, with the free PlayStation Plus games for March 2022 now available to claim across PS4 and PS5.
And while the free PS Plus games usually consist of just three titles every month, March 2022 is offering a bonus free game for fans to claim and there’s still a wildcard coming later in the month to consider as well.
Right now, PS Plus subscribers can claim ARK: Survival Evolved and Team Sonic Racing on PS4, Ghostrunner on PS5, and Ghost of Tsushima: Legends across both PS4 and PS5. Those in Asian territories are able to claim Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons as one of the free games instead of ARK: Survival Evolved. All of these games will be available for PS Plus subscribers to claim throughout the month of March, and then in April they will be replaced by the next batch of free games.

The other game for PS Plus subscribers to consider is the PS5 version of Grand Theft Auto Online. However, there is some confusion about Grand Theft Auto Online and its relationship to PlayStation Plus.
At the PlayStation Future of Gaming Show in 2020, when the PS5 was first revealed, it was stated that PS5 owners would «get GTA Online free at launch,» with the announcement including the PlayStation Plus logo and a note that PS Plus is required for users to play the game.

Some took this to mean that GTA Online would be a free PS Plus game, as «get» suggests that players will get to keep it for their collection. However, a recent blog post by Rockstar Games said GTA Online will be «available for free for the first three months to PlayStation 5 players.» This instead suggests that the deal doesn’t have anything to do with PS Plus at all besides it being a requirement to actually play GTA Online, and furthermore, that fans will only have access to it for three months as opposed to having three months to claim it.
Game Rant reached out to Rockstar Games for clarification, but did not hear back by press time. On the bright side, clarification should come later this month when GTA Online is released to PS5 owners for free. At that point, fans should have a much clearer idea of if they get to keep the game or if it will only be available for a limited time.

Greetings, Playstation adherents, with you Roma Nomak. Today, Sony told us what games we will receive with a PS PLUS subscription in MARCH.
The first game of the March selection was Ghostrunner.
In this first-person cyberpunk action game, the protagonist must overcome dangerous obstacles with parkour moves and defeat opponents with his sword. The events of the game unfold in a giant tower city, where the last remnants of people took refuge after the disaster. The housekeeper Mara rules the city with an iron hand. Here, the lower classes are oppressed, while the higher ones live, enjoying high technologies. But the resources of the city are gradually depleted, chaos and unrest is happening in it, and that is why the main character must challenge the existing system.
In addition to battles, players will have to run a lot, in fact, this is the basis of the gameplay, and explore the game world in order to discover the secret of the protagonist’s origin.
I must say right away that the game is not for wimps. If you think you can calmly parkour and slowly beat enemies, then forget about it.
On metacritic, Ghostrunner received a 76 from critics and a 7.2 from players.
The second game of the March selection was Team Sonic Racing.
I’ve been waiting for some arcade racing games in my subscription for a long time, so that I can ride on a stream with subscribers one evening without any tension. There was, of course, an option with Dirt 5, but in my opinion Team Sonic Racing fits much better. Of course, if Crash Team Racing were handed out, I would be even happier, but Sonic is also good. This game has 15 characters from the Sonic universe, divided into three groups with different abilities. The Speed group has a high Max speed, the Tech group moves across rough terrain without slowing down, and the Strength group smashes obstacles in its path.
The feature of the game is the team contribution to the victory. Players can share items and power-ups to help those who are lagging behind and for such actions to receive points on the Super Strength gauge, which, when filled, gives a strong boost to speed and makes team members invulnerable. Since the successes of each member of the group are taken into account, even if one of them comes to the finish line first, and the rest are somewhere in the tail, the team will score few points. Therefore, mutual assistance is very important.
There are 21 tracks in the game, which means that it will not get boring in one evening and you can return to it again and again.
Team Sonic Racing received a Metacritic score of 72 from critics and 7.4 from players.
The third game of the March selection was Ghost of Tsushima: Legends.
This is the multiplayer part of Ghost of Tsushima. And I must say that a very good part. I went through the cooperative story campaign with pleasure and ran in various competitions.
In addition, Legends, I think, will develop and release some new maps, modes, and maybe even cooperative story campaigns, who knows. Because the players clearly liked them and this will bring additional income to Sony. There are several character classes and pumping without which players are not allowed to enter more difficult levels, and therefore you can stay in the legends for a long time.
Metacritic Ghost of Tsushima: Legends received 92 from critics and 7.9 from players.
The fourth game of the March selection was ARK: Survival Evolved.
Survival simulators are actually not so many, and Sony has already distributed at least three. ARK: Survival Evolved differs from all others in that it has a tribal system where you can invite your friends and allies to survive on the island together, and the ability to tame the local fauna, namely dinosaurs! After taming, they will need to be looked after and fed, but they, in turn, can carry a large load, carry prey to the settlement, transport you, not only by land, but also by air.
