Here are individual preset albums as well as download links to give you a more cohesive sense of the preset as a package. It can be a bit hard to get an accurate feel for the presets when viewed bit by bit against one another as shown in the main albums above. I recommend if one looks decent to you, just throw it on and try it in motion because there are things that just can’t be captured by these screenshots. For example, the original’s oversaturation doesn’t really come across in these screenshots.

| Preset Album | Version | Download | Comparisons | Notes

—|—|—|— |—|— 01 | Original (Thank you CD Projekt RED!) | v1.04 | N/A | 01 — 24 | Has a yellow/orange tint. Nights and caves are quite bright. The greens at night are unnaturally visible. It doesn’t come across from screenshots that well, but definitely noticeable in motion. 02 | PowerPlay | v1.3 (Nachgeschärft) | Link | 01 — 24 | Removes yellow tint from original during the day. Noticeable eerier nights. Turns the overall mood into a slightly more serious one. 03 | CineFX | v1.3 | Link | 01 — 24 | Lighter colors than original. Feels a little bit more joyful 04 | 1. 000 Times Better | v1.4A (old) | Link | 01 — 24 | Takes out the warmth from the original more than others. May be a little blue hued. Better performance than v2.0 which uses the ReShade framework instead of SweetFX. 05 | K-putt’e | v1.2 (old) | Link | 01 — 24 | Subtle reduction of yellow tint during the day. Slightly drabbier night feel 06 | SS | v1.1 | Link | 01 — 24 | Dark in caves and buildings. Very good in the shade of forests 07 | Project Reality | v1.6 | Link | 01 — 24 | Slightly bolder colors than original attributed to less yellow tint. Darker nights. 08 | Project E3 2013 | v2.0 (old) | Link | 01 — 24 | A little whiter than original 09 | Dry Dull Dusky | May 22, 2015 | Link | 01 — 24 | Strikes a different mood, colors are indeed «dull» and washed out 10 | Natural Colors of Gaia | v1.2 | Link | 01 — 24 | Cools the overall temperature of the original a little bit by adding in a faint blue hue. 11 | Fantasy | v1.2 (old) | Link | 06 — 24 | Brightened world. Lost some of the red hues in the sky during sunsets/sunrises. At night the added blue hue is noticeable. 12 | Rivai’s Cinematic Witcher 3 SFX | v1.0 (old) | Link | 06 — 24 | Very dark in caves and buildings. Darker contrast adds a more dangerous mood to the game. 13 | Neutral Color Palette | May 21, 2015 | Link | 13 — 24 | Reduces the original’s yellow tint while maintaining the color vibrance of the original. 14 | E3-VGX | v1.8 (Main — No DOF) (ReShade) | Link | 06 — 16 | Brighter, light blue tint 15 | E3FX | v5 (old) | Link | 06 — 16 | Hazy blue tint. Works well at night and certain daytime conditions. Since this uses ReShade intensive filters instead of just SweetFX, performance costs about 10fps for this one. Author has a SweetFX version with no performance hit if you want that instead here. 16 | Enhanced Color FX | v0.1 | Link | 06 — 16 | Hazy blue tint. Stronger tint than E3FX for more atmosphere feel. 17 | Viveks86 | May 21, 2015 | Link | 13 — 24 | Feels like fall is approaching instead of the original’s spring/summer feel. 18 | AleX | May 20, 2015 | Link | 13 — 24 | Reduces the original’s yellow tint while maintaining the color vibrance of the original. Darker nights than Neutral Color Palette. 19 | PowerPlay + Prophet Game Tweak | v1.3 (Tweaked) | Link | 13 — 24 | Maintains PowerPlay’s colors, but runs darker. Especially in caves. 20 | Project E3 2013 | v3.0 | Link | 13 — 24 | Like v2.0, but added back in some reds for a slight purplish tint. Works well in shadows, but when out in the open it feels a little too tinted. 21 | W3shade | May 20, 2015 | Link | 13 — 24 | Deep rich colors for an emphasized feel. Unfortunately seems to have a heavy performance hit of 10-15fps while all other presets are negligible. 22 | W3shadeNat | May 26, 2015 | Link | 13 — 24 | Reduces the summer sun mood. Has some sort of blurring effect. 23 | Canuckodile’s Total Revamp | May 20, 2015 | Link | 13 — 24 | Very similar deep colors like W3shade, but no performance hit 24 | 1.000 Times Better | v2.0 (old) | Link | 13 — 24 | Utilizes the ReShade framework instead of SweetFX. ~10fps performance hit compared to v1.4A. Color balance is less blue than v1.4A. Has a slight reddish tint, but overall maintains a good level of vibrance from the original. 25 | 1.000 Times Better | v2.1 Lite | Link | 13 — 24 | Slightly more blue than v2.0. Decreased sharpening. Lite version FPS hit is 0-2FPS because it has bloom and SMAA removed. 26 | 1.000 Times Better | v2.1 Full | Link | 13 — 24 | Slightly more blue than v2.0. Decreased sharpening. No performance difference versus v2.0 because has bloom and SMAA. 27 | Fantasy | v1.3 | Link | 13 — 24 | Better palette than v1.2 which had highlights a little too bright. This version tones it down just a touch. 28 | E3FX | v7 | Link | 13 — 24 | Less blue than v5, but still feels a bit washed out compared to other presets. 29 | Rivai’s Cinematic Witcher 3 SFX | v1.1 (old) | Link | 13 — 24 | Sorry, not doing it. 30 | Rivai’s Cinematic Witcher 3 SFX | v1.2 | Link | 13 — 24 | Sorry, not doing it. 31 | Rivai’s Natural Darkness | May 30, 2015 | Link | 13 — 24 | Sorry, not doing it. 32 | Real Dark/Medieval World | Final | Link | 13 — 24 | Sorry, not doing it. 33 | Real E3 2014 Look | Final | Link | 13 — 24 | Sorry, not doing it. 34 | Real VGX/SoD Look | June 3, 2015 | Link | 13 — 24 | Sorry, not doing it. 35 | Project Destiny E3 2014 | v1.02 | Link | 13 — 24 | Sorry, not doing it. 36 | CTG | v3 | Link | 13 — 24 | Sorry, not doing it. 37 | SoftDepth | v1.0 | Link | 13 — 24 | Sorry, not doing it. 38 | Fantasy | v2.1 Standard | Link | 13 — 24 | Color palette is slightly lighter than v1.3 with a slightly more blue tint. Nights are a little brighter.

Edit: Unfortunately this is too time consuming a task to continue. I will no longer be maintaining or updating comparisons for new versions of people’s presets. If there is a particular one that becomes evidently popular I may throw it on, but with only 10 views a day and no upvotes it isn’t worth the massive effort I’ve put into this.

FAQ & Troubleshooting

How do I make sure my settings are correct? My game is TOO dark/light!

1. Calibrate your monitor.
You should just barely see #5 and up on this page. If you can’t, your brightness/gamma is too low.
You should just barely see boxes 244-250 on this page. If you can’t, your contrast is too high.
Calibrate your gamma in Windows by going to Start> Control Panel. In the search box, type «calibrate display», and then click Calibrate display color.?

2. The ingame gamma option is only visible if your game is fullscreen.
Borderless Window mode will use your Windows color calibration settings which are most likely incorrect.

3. To edit ingame Gamma. Open the file My Documents\The Witcher 3\user.settings in notepad.
Change the GammaValue setting, it should be set to 1 (if your monitor is correctly calibrated)

4. To edit the mod’s gamma. Open Open Reshade\SweetFX_Settings.cfg. Go to line 304 and change this line:
#define Gamma XX //[0.000 to 2.000] Adjust midtones. 1.000 is neutral.
Change it in .1 increments — higher is darker.

4. Lastly, make sure you are NOT using any color altering software like FLUX. It will completely ruin the colors

It’s too blue

Your monitor is not calibrated correctly, the color temperature is too high, or it’s junk.

It doesn’t work/crashes/won’t start

1. Reshade does NOT work with most overlay programs. This includes Fraps, Rivatuner, RadeonPro, Afterburner, and possibly Steam overlay

2. Delete any existing DXGI.DLL or d3d11.dll files from the game exe folder (that’s the old version)

3. Rename the new D3d11.dll file (you unzipped to your game directory) to d3d9.dll or dxgi.dll and try running the game.

4. Verify you have the latest DirectX runtimes

I want the Godrays back!

Just go into your Reshade Folder, and open GEMFX_SETTINGS. CFG with Notepad.
Just look a few lines down from the top and change this line to «1»

#define GODRAYS 0 //[0 or 1] Godrays: Adds some light rays rotating around screen center.

Just a reminder, this makes the sky very bright and hazy.

Too much / too little bloom!

If using regular bloom:
Using notepad, open Reshade\GemFX_settings.cfg, then reduce or increase line #54:
#define fBloomAmount XX //[1.0 to 20.0] Intensity of bloom.

If using alternative bloom:
Using notepad, open Reshade\CustomFX_settings.cfg, then reduce or increase line #97:
#define BloomStrength     XX //[0.00 to 1.00] Strength of bloom effect

I hate the sharpening / I want more sharpening!

To Disable sharpening, using notepad, open Reshade\SweetFX_settings.cfg, then change line #16 to zero:
#define USE_LUMASHARPEN   1 //[0 or 1] LumaSharpen : Sharpens the image.

To add more sharpening, change line #200 to any number up to 1.5 :
#define sharp_strength XX   //[0.10 to 3.00] Strength of the sharpening

How can I disable the SMAA?

1. Open the file in notepad: The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\bin\x64\ReShade\SweetFX_settings.cfg

2. Change the following line to 0

#define USE_SMAA 1 //[0 or 1] SMAA Anti-aliasing : Smoothens jagged lines using the SMAA technique

I lost fps!

The mod will use about 8-10 fps at 1080p, possibly more if you’re on a higher resolution. The effects are demanding.
Use the «Color Only Option» available on the downloads page if you don’t want an fps reduction.

How can I add/remove the FPS counter in the corner?

Go to The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\bin\x64\ReShade and open up «Common_settings.cfg» with notepad.
Just change line 23 :

#define RFX_ShowStatistics 0 //[0 or 1] Controls the display of the statistics (fps and timecounters). 0 = off, 1 = on

Game review

The Sword of Destiny has two points.

One of them is you.

You are Geralt of Rivia. The cities and towns of the Northern Kingdoms are ruthlessly wiped from the face of the earth by an otherworldly enemy known as the Wild Hunt, which knows no fear or pity.

As you prepare to take on the Wild Hunt, you’ll be part of a mature, non-linear story and meet unforgettable characters. As you travel through the Northern Kingdoms, you discover that every village, every tree, and every shadow holds secrets.

HUGE OPEN WORLD…

Visit the Northern Kingdoms

Novigrad — shine and poverty

Dive into the noisy world of rich merchants and impoverished vagrants, religious fanatics and prostitutes — a motley, colorful people live in the smoky port city of Novigrad. In this «capital of the world», torn apart by political intrigues and opposition of underground gangs, you will understand that sometimes the word and ingenuity are stronger than any blade, so choose your allies carefully.

Velen — Disputed Territory

Travel through colorful villages, gloomy swamps and ancient caves in the heart of the Northern Kingdoms. Having seen many battles and hiding the darkest secrets of the state of the land of Velen, they have become home to the most dangerous creatures. Keep your eyes peeled as you roam the former domains of King Foltest — they are full of dangers and secrets.

The Skellige Islands — beyond the seven seas

Travel to the land of rough fishing villages — to the islands salted by the sea, where clans of harsh warriors and ferocious giants live. Most of all, the ancient people of Skellige respect the sea and the elders. Prove your prowess to them and you will find out what treasures these frozen patches of land actually hide.

Tactics

Are your swords silver or steel?

From the very beginning of the game, Geralt carries two swords with him: the left one is made of steel and allows you to protect yourself from robbers or wild animals, the right one is forged from silver — this is a witcher’s blade created to hunt griffins, werewolves or ghosts. Your opponent’s health bar will tell you which sword to use, so don’t forget: gray requires silver, scarlet requires steel.

Witcher’s elixirs: frog’s pastern, worm’s eye

Witchers can brew powerful elixirs to give themselves temporary strength or superhuman powers. You will find many different recipes as the game progresses, but remember that Geralt’s stamina is not infinite. Drink potions only when necessary and don’t forget to keep an eye on the green intoxication bar directly below the health bar.

Bestiary: mind ahead of brute force

Preparedness is the key to success in hunting monsters, and victory often depends on how well you know your enemy. Check out the Bestiary section to get familiar with the strengths and weaknesses of your victim. This will help to make the necessary preparations before the battle.

Crafts: Hammer and Pincers

Shopkeepers don’t always have the item they need on hand, sometimes you’ll have to order equipment. Blacksmiths and armorers will be happy to help you for a small fee: just show them the blueprint and bring the materials you need. They can also repair weapons and armor damaged in combat.

Alchemy: Tempest in a Teacup

Geralt can use alchemy to create many items useful in combat. Blade oils allow you to deal additional damage in close combat, and bombs have various properties that can be used even outside of combat. After creating an item, its stocks can be replenished with the help of Alkahest.

Materials: supply and demand

You will find a lot of useful things just by exploring the world and searching the bodies of fallen enemies, although this takes some time. Merchants will immediately supply you with the goods you need, but will require money for it. Sometimes it’s worth just looking in your backpack: blacksmiths can take apart unnecessary items and return their components. If you need some material, then it is possible that you already have it!

Side quests: turn off the path

In addition to the main quest, Geralt will have many other adventures. Notice boards hung in cities contain information about new orders or amusing rumors. Hone your skills: find a missing person, defeat a gang of robbers, search for treasures — new items and additional experience will never hurt, and the development of events can sometimes even lead to a romantic date.

Choice of Opponent: Who Doesn’t Risk…

Do not be afraid of difficulties. Very often, even enemies and tasks above the current level will be within your power — especially if you are well prepared. Don’t be afraid to fight: sometimes sharpening a blade and applying oil to it is enough to tip the scales in your favor and help you deal with an enemy two or three levels above you.

Extension kit

On the road!

Hearts of Stone

Make an incredible deal with the brutal bandit Olgerd von Everek, a man with the gift of immortality, in the game’s optional story mission The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Unforgettable heroes, terrifying monsters, difficult decisions and over ten hours of play await you: the legendary witcher Geralt of Rivia returns in a brand new expansion.

In the treacherous lands of the North, you will meet bewitched lovers and cruel enemies. What will the meeting in the tavern lead to? Will you dare to dance with death?

A real mission for monster hunters awaits you.

Blood and wine

Travel to the far reaches of the vibrant lands of Toussaint, a new region on the borders of the North, in an expansion that gives you over 30 hours of play time. At first, Toussaint dotted with vineyards seems to be a quiet, calm province. Here the architecture is amazing, and the inhabitants are always cheerful and friendly. But looking around, Geralt realizes that this is only an appearance.

Uncover the dark secret of the murders that horrified the entire principality. Relying on the witcher’s instincts, go on a new task: you will find new weapons and armor that will help you in the battle against hitherto unseen monsters.

You can also complete many additional tasks. Build a new deck for gwent and fight with the Skellige suit against new opponents. Take on additional witcher orders — and take care of your own vineyard.
