Pc release 2022: 2022 games: all the new games launching this year

Upcoming PC games 2022 and beyond

What are the best upcoming games to keep an eye on this year and the next? Hope, anticipation, agony, and elation – it’s the endless cycle of emotions we go through during the annual PC release schedule.

Year in, year out, games – via Steam and otherwise – are produced in such varying degrees of quality that not a single one of them is destined for certain success. Masterpieces are released alongside utter disasters, series are born while others dwindle and, occasionally, a game actually lives up to our expectations. Below you’ll find the upcoming PC games you should keep on your radar, as well as their expected release dates.

Here are all the upcoming PC games:

Sonic frontiers

A brand new game from Sonic Team has been announced, and it’s coming to PC. Sonic Frontiers is an open-world action adventure game set on the Starfall Islands. We don’t know anything more yet, but we’re preparing a batch of chili dogs in anticipation.

Sonic Frontiers release date: Late November 8, 2022

Company of Heroes 3

Strategy game fans rejoice – Company of Heroes 3 has been officially unveiled. The upcoming new game in the beloved series of RTS games is set in the mountains, deserts, and coasts of the Mediterranian. The game features a ‘dynamic campaign map’ that unfolds differently over each playthrough. There’s also a ‘full tactical pause’ feature in single-player, in case you need to halt the action to assess the situation.

The full game isn’t due to release until 2022, but a pre-alpha build was previously available. Here are our pre-alpha Company of Heroes 3 impressions.

Company of Heroes 3 release date: November 17, 2022

STALKER 2

Besides the Facebook announcement from GSC Game World owner Sergiy Grygorovych that STALKER 2 is in development, we know barely anything about the upcoming survival horror sequel.

All we have is an official site with a few trailers. This isn’t the first time the game has been in production, but fingers crossed everything goes swimmingly this time.

STALKER 2 release date: December 8, 2022

The Outlast Trials

The Outlast Trials lets you share the terror of being hunted by sledgehammer-wielding brutes with friends. This time you’re not investigating a hospital, instead you and your pals are human guinea pigs in experiments being run by the Murkoff Corporation. Oh, and you can forget all about carrying a camcorder with you everywhere for night vision, instead the chaps at Murkoff have drilled night vision goggles directly into your skull. You lucky thing.

The Outlast Trials release date: 2022

Convergence

Another League of Legends spin-off, but this one follows Ekko as he travels through time. It’s an action-platformer helmed by Speed Brawl dev Double Stallion Games.

Convergence release date: 2022

Homeworld 3

Homeworld, the beloved series of real-time strategy games, is getting a long-awaited third installation. Homeworld 2 was released almost 18 years ago, but in recent years, the positive reception to the Homeworld Remastered Collection and prequel Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak has encouraged publisher Gearbox and developer Blackbird Interactive to work on an official sequel. Expect more tiny ships gracefully swooping through the vastness of space, and a “ballistics style weapon system similar to Homeworld 1”.

Homeworld 3 release date: 2023

Starfield

When Bethesda took to the stage at E3 2018, The Elder Scrolls 6 was not the only major surprise reveal. We can also get excited about their upcoming space game: although it may be some time.

It’s much further along than the company’s famous fantasy series, however, but that’s about all we know so far. Basically, when it comes to Starfield, “everyone should be very patient”. Regardless, it’s got our interstellar interest piqued.

Starfield release date: 2023

Suicide Squad: Kill the justice league

We’ve been wondering what Batman Arkham developer Rocksteady is up to for years and now we finally have our answer: a Suicide Squad game. We can’t say it’s the game we were hoping for, but Rocksteady has done a terrific job with the Batman license so we’re quietly confident. There are no real details in the Suicide Squad game reveal, but the studio teased more details at the August 22 DC Fandome event.

Suicide Squad game release date: 2023

KERBAL SPACE PROGRAM 2

The challenging space exploration game is set to launch back into our hearts with a host of new features, improved graphics, and a friendlier AI, which should appeal to long-awaiting fans and newcomers alike. Kerbal Space Program 2 is developed by Star Theory games and aims to bring an all new ‘next generation’ of features to the adorable physics puzzler.

Kerbal Space Program 2 release date: 2023

Redfall

All we have to go from the trailer is that Redfall is a game about a bunch of misfits using their guns and weird powers against a horde of cultists and vampires. But boy did Arkane Studios sell the hell out of that premise.

All four of the playable characters have cool designs and superpowers: there’s the lass with psychic powers that calls on a spectral elevator to launch friends into the sky, a sharpshooter with a raven friend, a nerd with a gatling gun filled with stakes, and a techie with a tiny robot friend. They make an immediate first impression and we can’t wait to see more.

Redfall release date: 2023

Prologue

Prologue is something from the developers of PUBG. The website bills it as a “an exploration of new technologies and gameplay”, and all we have to currently go on is a short teaser that features rain, a rock, the sound of breathing, and the distant sound of a dog barking. We would bet on it being a narrative experience with some horror thrown in, although it’s hard to see the studio moving away from multiplayer just yet.

Prologue release date: TBC

Midnight Ghost Hunt

Malevolent spirits are causing all manner of chaos in multiplayer “hide-and-seek” game Midnight Ghost Hunt, and your job is to flush them out and thwart their spectral shenanigans before the clock strikes midnight and the ghosts gain the power to hunt you down.  Alternatively, you can play as a ghost yourself, hiding inside furniture and biding your time before unleashing havoc.

Midnight Ghost Hunt release date: TBC

ROLLER CHAMPIONS

While it was originally tipped to be something of a Rocket League-like, Roller Champions appears to be something all of its own. As the Roller Champions release date approaches, we know that it will be a skill-based, PvP esports game with two teams of three racing around a banked track to score points.

It certainly looks an entertaining spectacle, and developer Ubisoft certainly want to leverage that and grow a competitive scene around the upcoming game. It wants Roller Champions to be “as fun to watch as it is to play”, so expect the company to be courting plenty of streamers and esports personalities to ensure its longevity.

Roller Champions release date: TBC

The Wolf Among Us 2

One of the more surprising updates from The Games Awards 2019 was the return The Wolf Among Us 2. You can expect the same choice and consequence style narrative experience of previous Telltale games. Don’t expect it anytime soon, though, as developer LCG Entertainment has hit the reset button.

The Wolf Among Us 2 release date: 2023

XDefiant

Ubisoft’s upcoming arena shooter will see 6v6 teams of ‘Defiants’ duke it out, using customised loadouts and powerful abilities unique to the ‘faction’ you choose. You can change your loadout each time you respawn, so you can adapt to the fast-paced battles as they develop. The game will be free-to-play, and recently dropped the Tom Clancy brand.

XDefiant release date: TBC

The Outer Worlds 2

Obsidian’s hit retro-futuristic roleplaying game is getting a sequel. The teaser trailer doesn’t tell us much, simply showing off exotic alien landscapes and futuristic combat, but with a wry, self-aware voiceover telling us “the developers haven’t finished the [main character’s] design, or finished the story, or finished any gameplay that’s actually ready to show”. We don’t have any more details, but we’ll keep you updated as soon as we learn more.

The Outer Worlds 2 release date: TBC

SKULL & BONES

Black Flag and For Honor meet for PvP sailing, piracy, and cannon-firing in Skull & Bones. With a familiar UI and control mechanism for anyone that’s played Assassin’s Creed’s seabound adventure, it’s got some strange scoring mechanisms, and its not just about wiping out the enemy team.

Skull & Bones release date: March 9, 2023

Project 007

Hitman 3 developer IO Interactive has announced a brand-new project – and it’s a James Bond game. The teaser clip shows a bullet loaded into a gun, before panning around to reveal the iconic gun barrel shot – though Bond himself is nowhere to be seen. That’s all we’ve got about Project 007 so far, but we’re already sold.

Project 007 release date: TBC

Dead Island 2

Dead Island 2 still exists, apparently, and is making “fantastic progress” at take-over developer Sumo. Exactly how much it’ll resemble the weird Californian sun-pocalypse we saw on display during the original announcement is anyone’s guess.

Development on the first-person zombie smasher has been chaotic to say the least. Last we heard, Dead Island 2 is still in development. When it comes to the nature of its current state, however, is anybody’s guess.

Dead Island 2 release date: TBC

The Elder Scrolls 6

Bethesda finished its E3 2018 conference in the best way possible by announcing the upcoming PC game we all wanted: The Elder Scrolls VI. With only a teaser trailer of some rocky hills, ruined castles, and coastlines to go on, we’re still waiting on a setting, and a launch window, of course.

We didn’t hear anything more at the following E3, really. Game director Todd Howard let us down early at E3 2019 to say that there wouldn’t be any further news on The Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield, but stressed that Bethesda is “still hard at work” on both of them.

Elder Scrolls 6 release date: TBC

Star Citizen

Without a doubt one of the most wildly ambitious games around, Star Citizen aims to be the ultimate space exploration experience.

Taking to the skies in one of numerous ridiculously detailed craft, you will engage in military service, become a reputable trader of goods, live the life of a smuggler, or become a universe-famous race pilot. That’s if development ever finishes, of course.

Star Citizen release date: TBC

System Shock 3

System Shock 3 was announced back in 2015, in development by Otherside Entertainment, with Warren Spector on board as studio director – however, since then, the project has been taken over by Tencent, who will be ‘taking the franchise forward’.

System Shock 3 release date: TBC

Beyond Good & Evil 2

Yes, it’s happening, but the Beyond Good & Evil 2 release date is probably a long, long way off. According to creator Michel Ancel, the team is looking for a lot of community input to get it moving, with help from Joseph Gordon-Levitt and hitRECord. A playable Beyond Good & Evil 2 beta was said to be in the works for late 2019, however it seems that has now been pushed back.

Beyond Good & Evil 2 release date: Beyond Space And Time, Probably

Project L

So nice they announced it twice, Riot’s also dipping into the fighting genre. It’s fitting, then, that we first caught wind of Project L at EVO 2019, before getting another quick peek at LoL’s 10-year anniversary show.

Fighting games are a huge staple of the esports scene, from DragonBall FightersZ anime beat ‘em style to Mortal Kombat’ bloodier take on fisticuffs. We’ve barely seen anything of Project L, so we have a bit of waiting to find out what it’ll play like.

Project L release date: TBC

Skate 4

We know nothing about it other than that it’s confirmed – still, we’re incredibly excited for the return of this series. Come to think of it, we don’t even know if it’s coming to PC…

Skate 4 release date: TBC

Diablo 4

At long last, we’ve got some confirmation on Diablo 4. We always knew it would be coming, really, but getting a look at it is exciting. We know that the Druid class is coming back to join the roster of Diablo 4 classes, and we enjoyed our playtime with it at Blizzcon. Plus, it looks like there will be plenty of scope for creative Diablo 4 builds, especially with the reveal that Mythic items will be available.

Details are dripping out right now – there will be an open-world setting, and Blizzard has plans for extensive player customization. That said, the game still boasts the same balance of lootin’ and dungeon dwelling that fans have come to adore. We may be waiting until 2023 for this one, though.

Diablo 4 release date: not even coming ‘Blizzard soon’

VAMPIRE: THE MASQUERADE – BLOODLINES 2

It’s been 18 long years, but now we finally have a sequel to the cult classic bloodsucker. The sequel is taking us to Seattle, but the land of coffee and grunge has been given a coagulated coat of crimson as you unravel another rich mystery.

Yet, while the original is remembered fondly for its engrossing narrative, it remained rife with bugs and disappointing combat. Luckily, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2’s gameplay plunders immersive sims such as Dishonored 2 and Deus Ex to make its vampiric fisticuffs just as engaging as its story. Following a switch of developers, the release date has been pushed back, but we’re more than ready to sink our teeth in when it finally arrives.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 release date: TBC

Resident Evil 4 remake

After two very successful remakes in recent years it was only a matter of time before Capcom turned its attention to one of the most beloved entries to the series: Resident Evil 4. Details about the remake were reported by VGC and while it’s allegedly a long way off we’re still very excited to see what Capcom has in store for us.

Resident Evil 4 remake release date: TBC

Haunted Chocolatier

The next game from Stardew Valley developer Eric ‘Concerned Ape’ Barone has been announced, and it’s set in an enchanting fantasy town with plenty of spooky goings-on. It shares Stardew Valley’s charming pixel-art style, though the gameplay will focus on on combat rather than farming.

Haunted Chocolatier release date: TBC

RoboCop: Rogue City

During the 2021 Nacon Direct show, the publishers revealed that a RoboCop videogame is coming in 2023. Developed by Terminator: Resistance studio Teyon, RoboCop: Rogue City is set in Old Detroit, where the hero embarks on a ‘first-person, explosive hunt for the truth’. The story is based on the sci-fi cult classic RoboCop films which tell the story of Alex Murphy, a Detroit police officer who is brought back as a cyborg after being grievously injured on duty.

RoboCop: Rogue City release date: TBC, 2023

Wow, that’s a lot of games to get excited for, so luckily our anticipation levels are boundless already. Of course, it’s tough just keeping up with games as they come out, let alone remembering the games we should be saving for. For that we have a new PC games guide so you know the best titles you could be playing right now. For now, perhaps if you keep reading this list the games you want will come out quicker. It’s worth a go, at least.

Dead Island 2

  • Release date: TBC
  • Type: Survival horror action RPG
  • Publisher: Deep Silver

Dead Island 2 has been thought dead for a while, but Deep Silver has suggested it is still in the works. We certainly would be thrilled to see a brilliant second outing for Dead Island. The original was an awesome zombie-slaying adventure that we loved when we first played it on PC.

Weapon crafting, a bright and unusual island location and zombies in bathing costumes, this game had it all. The new trailer doesn’t show much, but it certainly looks like there’s going to be some of the same hilarity and good times.  We’ve heard more rumblings about Dead Island 2 recently, with suggestions that it’s going to be an Epic Store exclusive.

The 12 most anticipated games of 2022

The upcoming 2022 has every chance of becoming an unforgettable year for gamers, because it will bring with it new, but already such long-awaited games with long-familiar and beloved heroes. In addition, next year, development companies will announce the release of completely new games with incredible scenarios and colorful characters.

Note that some of the games on our list were originally scheduled for release in 2021. So their admirers are already pretty tired of waiting and are ready to dive into the world of adventures, quests, skills and bonuses with renewed vigor!

In this article, we will lift the curtain of mystery and tell you everything we know so far about the 12 most anticipated games of 2022.

Any ideas what the most anticipated games of 2022 will be?

Expected games for 2022 include Pokémon, God of War, and the Zelda adventure series. They will surely provide a rush of fresh action-packed twists in the gaming industry with brand new characters and locations.

At the same time, the developers have tried to resurrect the classics so well known and loved by many. And the bet on sequels has never let anyone down.

In this list of expectations, we will again see Gotham (though without Batman) and the result of a much more interesting collaboration between George Martin and Hidetaka Miyazaki.

We guarantee that everyone will be satisfied. We have selected novelties in such a way as to satisfy absolutely any requests and justify even the most unrealistic expectations!

You will definitely find something in the list of the most anticipated games of 2022 and you will want to sharpen your blade and embark on an adventure as soon as possible.

Are there upcoming games for PS4 in 2022?

Of course there is! Almost all major consoles will update their game collections in 2022. And PS4 will be no exception. Moreover, some positions on our list of the most anticipated games of 2022 will be released simultaneously on PlayStation 4 and 5.

Not only Play Station fans, but also Nintendo Switch fans will receive new toys. The choice of new products for Microsoft Windows users will be even richer: multiplayer games on PC please more than ever. The developers did not offend the owners of the Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S consoles either, their list of games will also be replenished with worthy offers.

1. Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2. No release date yet

Breath of the Wild was released in 2017 simultaneously for the Nintendo Switch and Wii U consoles. It quickly became one of the best open world games of all time. Therefore, there is nothing strange in the fact that the second part is now in the top of the most anticipated games of 2022, because fans are looking forward to information about the new gameplay and plot.

It is known that the new version will keep the old world, as well as open access to the skies over Hyrule. And although all the details of the new version are not yet known exactly, there is already an understanding that we will see a completely new story with added functionality.

Nintendo announced Breath of the Wild 2 at E3 back in 2019. But so far nothing is known about the scenario of the new game. So far, we are not even sure if the title of the game has been announced to us: final or working, and whether it will be left the same for release in 2022.

2. Elden Ring. Release Date: Expected February 25, 2022

If you love PC games, you will love Elden Ring RPG. Millions of gamers are looking forward to the release of the new version of this dynamic game.

New release will be developed by FromSoftware and released by Bandai Namco. Moreover, the main reason for such an increased interest is that the popular science fiction writer George Martin (author of the Game of Thrones series of books) and the famous game director Hidetaka Miyazaki worked together on the plot.

Elden Ring is scheduled to release in 2022 on Windows, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S.

The game takes place in the so-called Middle Lands after the Ancient Ring was destroyed and its fragments were divided into Great Runes.

The fact is that the World Tree once grew from the ring, and the fate of the Middle Lands depended entirely on this symbiosis. Possession of fragments gave supernatural power, which went to the demigods — the ancient lords.

But, as always happens, the omnipotence drove the demigods crazy, and they started civil strife. The main character (for whom we will play) must collect all the elements of the ring in order to become the ancient ruler himself.

We already know quite a lot about this position on our list of the most anticipated games of 2022. For example, we know that the game will be played in third person with a focus on free-roaming and unique boss fights in 6 separate areas.

3. Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Release date: expected on January 28, 2022

What was the most popular game on the phone not so long ago? Everyone remembers how we ran around the city and caught Pokemon.

The fact that Pokémon Legends’ new world won’t be open hasn’t stopped it from becoming one of the most anticipated games of 2022. Nintendo will release it as the eighth generation of Pokémon games, but it’s actually a prequel to 2006’s Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.

The new 2022 release is especially significant as it coincides with Pokémon’s 25th anniversary celebration.

The new gameplay is not much different from the old ones: you need to catch Pokemon, and then let them into battle. But the developers came up with a new feature: the player can take damage to the Pokemon. In this case, items will disappear from the inventory.

And the main goal of the 2022 release is the creation of the first Pokedex (a complete database of Pokemon), in which the legendary Pokemon Arceus, the creator of the Pokemon world, plays a significant role.

Separately will be used such options as a base camp for rest and the ability to create Poké Balls — smoke grenades. Nintendo also announced a slew of new Pokémon, which is even more intriguing for fans who are especially looking forward to the new version of Pokémon.

4. Gotham Knights. Unknown release date

This game was originally scheduled for release in 2021, then moved to 2022, but even now the exact release date is unknown. Gotham Knights is an action RPG game set in an open world setting. It will be released for Windows, PlayStation 4 and 5, as well as Xbox One and Series X/S.

If you want to know why this is one of the most anticipated games of 2022 and how well deserved such a title, you should start with an important fact: there is no Batman in this version of Gotham City, and this alone promises an interesting turn of events.

The action takes place after the death of Batman in a difficult time for Gotham. You have to control the former allies of the Caped Crusader, and these are Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl (Batgirl) and the Red Hood.

You need to unite these four heroes in a common fight for Gotham. In this part, the secret society «Court of Owls» will be the anti-hero, and our characters will have to return to the witches in Belfrey in order to properly prepare for new missions.

5. God of War: Ragnarok. Release date unknown

The exact release date of the ninth installment in the God of War series from Sony is not yet known. Adventure walker «Ragnarok» is based on Norse mythology, and the plot is based on the death of Norse deities.

Since the announcement back in 2020, God of War: Ragnarok has been on the list of the most anticipated games of 2022, and its release is constantly postponed, violating all originally announced plans.

Those who are aiming for the top story-driven PC games will appreciate that God of War is coming to Steam, so you don’t have to buy a PS4 to play it.

This release takes place three years after the events of God of War 2018. Atreus becomes the central character as he learns more about his personality. At the same time, Loki is doing everything possible to prevent the onset of Ragnarok.

You will have to roam the nine worlds and look forward to meeting such rivals as Freya and the almighty Thor. This, of course, is not the top free MMORPG, but you can hang at the screen for a long time.

6. Redfall. Release date unknown

The exact release date for the new release of Redfall, one of the most anticipated games of 2022, has not yet been officially announced.

Developed by Arkane Studios and remastered by Bethesda Softworks. But it seems that on Xbox Series X / S and Windows it should be expected in time, that is, next summer.

This is an open world shooter with both the option to play alone and the ability to join a team of other players online.

In this game, you can choose one of four available characters, each of which has its own set of skills and specific experience: a lightning thrower, an inventor, a combat engineer and a student with telekinetic abilities.

According to the storyline, in the fictional town of Redfall in Massachusetts, something went wrong while conducting a scientific experiment, and you have to clean up the city from all evil spirits.

Among the enemies that must be confronted and fought, there are both vampires and ordinary aggressive people.

Inventive game mechanics, high-quality sound effects and a deeply thought-out world are what make this game so anticipated in 2022.

7. Splatoon 3. Release date unknown

Why is this third-person shooting game developed by Nintendo included in the list of the most anticipated games in 2022? This is the most recent game in the Splatoon video game series, where you can play both solo and in multiplayer mode, competing with other players.

Splatoon 3 will be available on the Nintendo Switch, despite the fact that the game was originally developed for the Wii U console. The game provides the ability to choose a hero among Inklings (available to choose from the very beginning) and Octolings (you will have to download to select them paid content).

The new version also features a variety of weapons that shoot colored ink at enemies to splatter or completely recolor them.

There will also be a bow, new modes of movement, dynamic moves and customization options.

In the Turf Wars mode, two teams of four players each try to cover the alien area of post-apocalyptic Splatsville with their ink as quickly as possible. So we come up with a name for the clan and go.

8. Slime Guide 2. Release date unknown

Do you like the best puzzle games for iPhone? Very soon, the developers of Monomi Park will delight us with a new version of the Slime Walker quest, which is designed to repeat the success of the previous original version of 2017.

Like the original, this game is expected to be open world. We will meet the pretty Beatrix LeBeau again, who this time will try to create and grow a farm on Rainbow Island.

Already in 2022, we can expect the release of the new world «Slimovod 2» on Windows and Xbox Series X/S. The plot of the second release is identical to its predecessor. You need to collect slimes and build a farm.

By the way, new types of slimes will be available in the sequel: cotton, fluttering and sticky. All this easily places the game on the list of the most anticipated games of 2022 for those gamers who appreciate the best puzzle games on PC and love cute yet challenging games.

9. Tiny Tina’s Wonderland. Release Date: Coming May 25, 2022

This first-person shooter from Gearbox Software is a spin-off of the hugely successful Borderlands series. So it’s no surprise that it’s one of the most anticipated games of 2022.

2K Games will release the game simultaneously in several formats. The user can choose an independent game or multiplayer mode, where he will have to fight with three other players. So what exactly is this shooter, and what aspects and elements of Borderlands inspired its developers?

Set immediately after the events of the previous release of Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep in the world of Borderlands. This indicates that the fantasy and role-playing theme is also being carried over into the new installment of Tiny Tina’s Wonderland.

The user needs to create a hero on one of the six available levels, in the process combining skill sets and choosing a variety of weapons for the hero.

It must be admitted that with all the richness of game worlds available to the modern gamer, it is not difficult to understand why this particular release made it to the list of the most anticipated games of 2022 for fans of fantasy RPGs. After all, this is much more than just an option to play when you’re bored.

10. Gran Turismo 7. Release Date: Coming March 4, 2022

The sheer number of Gran Turismo fans and the fact that Polyphony Digital’s latest Gran Turismo game looks to be the most visually impressive to date makes it one one of the most anticipated games in 2022 for PlayStation 4 and 5 console owners.

At first, fans hoped that the game would be developed exclusively for PS5, which would take advantage of all the technological advantages of the latest version of the PlayStation console with its high performance.

As seen in the recently released trailer, the main menu will return to the familiar style of Gran Turismo 4. The familiar simulation mode will also return.

Many other features are still present, so you can count on familiar elements from previous releases, such as Driving School, Championships and the Tuning Parts Store.

It is worth noting that, unlike its predecessors, this version will make it much easier to create customized cars. However, fans are already looking forward to experiencing the career mode in Gran Turismo 7, as the launch of this option has been delayed from 2021.

11. Goodbye Volcano High. Unknown release date

Here’s another one of the most anticipated games of 2022 that has been pushed back from 2021. The plot adventure game Goodbye Volcano High was developed by KO_OP specifically for the PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles, as well as devices based on the Microsoft Windows operating system.

You might be interested in learning more about the storyline of this quest. Goodbye Volcano High features a group of anthropomorphic dinosaurs who are in a rock band and are about to graduate from high school.

The graphics are simply amazing in their quality: the picture looks just amazing! And according to the promises of the developers, who lifted the curtain of mystery a little over the plot, players will have to help teenage dinosaurs find love in an attempt to understand who they are and where their place in the world around them.

Needless to say, the introduction of a non-binary character voiced by Lachlan Watson (American actor best known for playing Theo Putnam in the Netflix series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) adds intrigue to a game that, according to its developers, will be similar to one of your favorite TV shows. The best free iOS games definitely lose to her.

12. Starfield. Release Date: Coming November 11, 2022

Bethesda Game Studios is finally bringing us another of the most anticipated games of 2022 by the end of the year. Starfield is an action RPG with shooter elements set in a space world. The game was announced a long time ago: back at the international exhibition of computer games E3 in 2018.

You can try it on Windows devices and Xbox Series X/S consoles.

One of the reasons this RPG’s new release made it onto our list of the most anticipated games of 2022 is the fact that it’s the first new game series from Bethesda in over twenty years. The action takes place in the distant year 2310 on a territory stretching over 50 light years.

Two space groups are involved in the Colonial War, which has recently ended and has given way to a shaky peace. Playing this RPG, you will definitely feel like a space explorer who travels through the most problematic part of the universe (and how else).

What games should you try to play in 2022?

As you can see from our review of the 12 most anticipated games, 2022 will bring many new discoveries and well-forgotten stories in a new interpretation. By the way, do not miss the opportunity to also look for something interesting among the latest Android games.

So if a new version of one of your favorite games is due out in 2022, it’s a good idea to get familiar with its updated format and see if it can bring fresh feelings and emotions to an already familiar world.

Hopeless? Not at all! What games will be released in 2022

The past replacement for Electronic Entertainment Expo, in the form of Summer Game Fest and presentations from major publications and publishers, was weak in announcements. There are many large projects, and the indie scene is not far behind. But which games are of interest, and what will we see in 2022? Let’s figure it out.

The list includes not only well-known releases, but also those announced at recent events. We have broken it into two parts: games from big publishers and budget projects.

Games from major publishers

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 — July 29

A direct continuation of the Xenoblade series. With new characters and setting, but recognizable features of the series. From the art that has appeared, it is clear that the conflict between machines and people will begin again. The combat system is designed for the interaction of six characters. Each has a separate role, and they are able to combine into giants — Ouroboros. This is a super move that will help end the fight in favor of the party.

Spider-Man Remastered and Spider-Man: Miles Morales — August 12 and Fall

Highly anticipated games for PC users. Both projects are purebred fighters. You will have to deal with the bandits, use gadgets and secretly penetrate the protected areas. The combat system, although reminiscent of the Batman: Arkham series, is distinctive and based on the agility of the Spiders, and not on physical strength. The plot is the main advantage of projects. The story is adult, without childish naivety, and even touches on the topics of paternity (in addition about the Black Cat) — this breathed a second life into familiar images.

Saints Row — August 23

The most controversial release of 2022, which everyone seems to be sure of will fail. Apart from the developers, of course. They continue to bombard with trailers and new information, they process the Western press with closed screenings and demos. What will happen from the restart of Saints Row is still unclear — there is too much emphasis on youth trends and “wow moments” every couple of minutes. Madness, as shown by Saints Row 4, should be in moderation.

The Last of Us: Part One — September 2

The main exclusive of the PlayStation 3 era will receive a remake on the engine of The Last of Us: Part Two. They promise not only changed models, but also the gameplay. This pleases, because in the second part of the shootout with opponents and aggressive stealth were forced to play on. Also, Sony will release the first part of The Last of Us on PC, but this version is still in development.

Splatoon 3 — 9September

An online shooter about humanoid octopuses fighting each other with paint. In the third part, the developers promise new maps, character classes and weapons. Triple bow, craft, rocket launchers with paint — equipment will be allowed to show off in the arenas in the local town of Pluhton. On the main square, you can assemble a team for the next battles, dress up your character and collect equipment for online battles.

Warhammer 40k: Darktide — September 13

The creators of Warhammer: Vermintide have made a popular action movie based on the Warhammer fantasy universe. Now it’s time for the «forty-thousander». The same basics: four characters of different classes face off against hordes of enemies, complete tasks and find new equipment. Darktide will also be available on Xbox Game Pass on Day 1, so users in Russia and Belarus don’t have to think about where to buy the project.

Overwatch 2 — Oct 4

The sequel to Blizzard’s popular online team-based shooter will see the light of day defectively. On October 4, an early version will become available for players, with a shareware PVP mode. The Overwatch team promises to transfer already familiar heroes to the new part and keep the skins of the owners of the original. The new beta version of the project starts on June 28, which will allow you to preview the changes in the sequel.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns — October 7

Superhero tactics from the creators of the new X-COM are not inspiring. Cards instead of normal character abilities, wooden animations, no specifics about the hero roster. The gameplay provided by the press does not provide any insight into the project. Is it just the understanding that it will be a very boring game. Like it or not, we will find out in October.

Scorn — October 21

The developers of the disgusting, in a good way, adventure horror revealed the release date of this long-term construction. Already in October, you will have to survive in a strange world inspired by the works of Hans Rudi Giger — the artist’s style is the basis of the Alien universe. Ebb Software, describing the game, also focuses on the study of labyrinth locations. The player will have to change the style of the game and choose how to act: hide or fight.

Persona 5 Royale — October 21

Long awaited PC release. The extended version of the Japanese role-playing game will be released not only on Steam, but also on Xbox Game Pass. Our editors strongly advise you to get acquainted with Persona 5 Royale, as it is one of the best jRPGs (if not the best) today.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 — October 28

Call of Duty is going through a tough time. Since the relaunch of Modern Warfare, things have gone from bad to worse for the series. Activision Blizzard did not come up with anything better than to continue the unsuccessful restart, and also release Call of Duty: Warzone 2. The gameplay presented at the Summer Game Fest is no different from the previous parts — after Infinite Warfare, the series slipped into self-repetition. But the franchise’s record sales say users love it, which means Modern Warfare 2 will sell sky-high.

Gotham Knights — October 25,

Action Looter about the Dark Knight’s protégé. After the death of Bruce Wayne in Arkham Knight, the hero was replaced by Nightwing, Red Hood, Batgirl and Robin. You will often have to fight with enemies, knock out new things, pump to advance in the story. The failure of Marvel’s Avengers seems to have taught other major publishers nothing. Looks like at the end of October Warner Bros. Games will take a sip of grief.

High on Life — October 25,

What happens if the creators of Rick and Morty take more drugs and want to make a game? Get High on Life. Crazy decorations, talking guns with unique types of «shooting», acid colors — if you like it, then take a closer look at the new Microsoft project.

Pentiment — November

Medieval detective game from Josh Sawyer — designer and head of development for such projects as Fallout New Vegas, Pillars of Eternity. The emphasis in Pentiment is on character role-playing and skill development. The protagonist, a 16th-century German illustrator, falls into a series of events and becomes part of a series of murders. The protagonist will investigate this case for 25 years, and the player will have to help bring the killer to clean water.

The Callisto Protocol — December 2nd

The most anticipated game of 2022. Glen Scofield, the creator of the Dead Space series, with the help of Korean partners, made the heir to Dead Space. Dismemberment, horror on an ice planet, disgusting monsters — the author’s style is recognizable. Let’s hope that the project will not be postponed to 2023 and already on December 2 we will see, if not the «game of the year», then a competitor to the Dead Space remake. The last one will appear only in 2023.

Atomic Heart — Fall

Developers from Mindfish assure everyone that the adventure shooter will be released in 2022 — plans have not changed. This is indirectly confirmed by Microsoft in the Xbox Game Pass roadmap for the next 12 months. Whether plans to release a shooter in the entourage of the Soviet future will change, we will find out this fall.

Bayonetta 3 — 2022

Platinum Games’ crazy sexy witch slasher is due out this year. Nintendo swore and swore that there would be no transfers, but so far has not named a release date for the new exclusive. The gameplay was shown briefly — the fan community noticed only the changed appearance of the main character and the dullness of the picture. I would like to believe that the adventures of Seresa will visit the Nintendo Switch in 2022 and will become another hit for the Japanese company.

Plague Tale: Requiem — 2022

The brother and sister’s plague journey around France will also visit players this year. At the last Xbox Games Showcase, players were shown a new gameplay trailer. The main character will begin to kill opponents, it is even better to hide from persecution, and flocks of rats will remain the most formidable opponent for Amicia and Hugo.

God of War: Ragnarok — 2022

The sequel to the best game of 2018 according to The Game Awards is coming this year. The director of the first part, Corey Barlog, has been repeating this to fans of the franchise for the past six months. There were rumors that the players would know the exact release date at the end of June. Hopefully, the gameplay of the original will be improved, and the story will respectfully end the saga of the Greek god of war and introduce a new protagonist of the series.

Hogwarts Legacy — 2022

Playing in the Harry Potter universe looks ambitious. In addition to studying at the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Hogwarts, the protagonist will have to visit outside the castle. The developers promise to add dungeons with riddles and rewards for passing. But they promised not to take any microtransactions and additional fees, for any actions in Hogwarts Legacy. The lead to the plot also looks strange — the player creates a character who enters the seventh year of Hogwarts. What is the background of the hero and why was he accepted so late — we believe that there will be no transfer and this year we will find out the answers to these questions.

Indie scene and budget projects

Stray — July 19

The cat game that caught the attention of the players so much that it became the best seller on Steam only by pre-orders. The gameplay looks fresh: playing as a cat courier, you will have to jump on eaves and move across rooftops, run away from strange evil worms and communicate with people. Or harm them. No one forbids furiously scratching the door of the apartment, and when it is opened … Turn around and leave. Or jump onto a table where two men are playing chess. It all depends on the imagination of the player.

Tinykin — August 30,

Nintendo’s successor to the Pikmin series. The protagonist shrinks in size and ends up in an unknown house inhabited by taynikins — small creatures. They are endowed with a variety of abilities depending on the color. With their help, you will have to solve the puzzles located in the house and get out of this world of midgets.

Metal Hellsinger — September 15

Rhythm shooter music by famous metal vocalists: Serj Tankian (System of a Down), Matt Heafy (Trivium), Mikael Stanne (Dark Tranquility), Alyssa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy) and others. The plot is simple — a demoness breaks into hell and starts killing devils. This happens to the rhythm of the music in order to get more points, kill opponents and replenish the health bar. A demo version of the project is available on Steam.

Soulstice — September 20

There is a chance that the regiment of good slashers will arrive this September. The story of two sisters who united into a creature called a chimera. The first received strength and endurance, and the second became an incorporeal spirit and acquired magical abilities. The combination of the abilities of both is the key to victory. The gameplay feels like purebred old-school slasher: combos, platforming puzzles, static camera. The main roles are voiced by Stephanie Justin, the actress who gave the appearance and voice of Quiet from Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

Potion Craft — autumn

Alchemy shop simulator from Russian developers is leaving early access. Even in the form of a beta version, it dragged on for 20-30 hours, and in the full release, the developers promise even more variety when brewing and selling potions in their own shop. We highly recommend that you read our review.

Gungrave G. O. R. E. — Fall

A third-person shooter set in the Gungrave universe promises to be fast and bloody. Combining slasher and shooter mechanics, Korean developers are attracting attention. The brutal protagonist with the help of revolvers and a transforming coffin destroys hundreds of opponents for the sake of revenge. But the plot is secondary here — the Iggymob studio focuses on the gameplay. Whether the Koreans will have a good action movie, we will find out this fall, because there is no exact release date yet.

Wanted: Dead — autumn-winter

Another budget project in the shooter-slasher genre in our selection. Created by its developers Ninja Blade and Dead or Alive. Beautiful heroines, «meat» action, crazy staging of cinematic scenes and Japanese flavor — the handwriting is recognizable. I would like to believe that the project will not let you down in terms of content — the trailers inspire hope in this.

Trepang2 — 2022

This project was inspired by the F.E.A.R. series, based on the mechanics from there. First-person shooter, the main character with the ability to slow down time, realistic environment physics. You can get acquainted with the project on your own — a demo is available on Steam at the Games to Be! festival.

The Entropy Center — 2022

A first-person adventure where the main character solves spatial puzzles. But not simple, but reversible! By turning back time, the player restores or destroys elements of the environment in order to get to the next rooms or fight opponents. There have been no Portal-style puzzles for a long time and The Entropy Center looks like one of them — fans of the genre are advised to take a closer look.

Russian role-playing game from one developer. Overview

Large-scale games from single developers are rare, and if such a project was created by a Russian, it becomes doubly interesting. And when you find out that the sources of inspiration are The Elder Scrolls, WoW, Fallout and Zelda, you raise your eyebrows in bewilderment. Indeed, Gedonia is called an open-world combat role-playing game not for a red word — here you can really drown. And not just in terms of content.

Sony, don’t. Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection review

Sony was famous for its successful ports of its own exclusives on PC — games were launched even on old computers and produced a picture comparable to PS4. Despite the value of Uncharted 4 and the offshoot of Lost Legacy as games, there are many questions about their re-release on personal computers.
