Gta 6 coming 2022: Is GTA 6 Coming Out in 2022?

GTA 6: Everything we know so far

Here’s Vice City as it was depicted in 2002 for PS2. We can’t wait to see what GTA 6’s Vice City looks like on PS5 and Xbox Series X.

GTA 6 has been officially announced, and then subsequently leaked in quite a spectacular way. We got confirmation from Rockstar Games back in February this year that «active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway» — a little note snuck in the bottom of a GTA 5 Community Update .

On September 18, an unprecedented GTA 6 leak saw over 90 videos and screenshots from an early, in-development alpha build of the game surface online. Rockstar has acknowledged and authenticated the hack, and is working to scrub the leaked material from the internet. Naturally, this first look at Grand Theft Auto 6 has revealed some new details about the game – including information on the GTA 6 location, characters, and gameplay. So keep on reading to find everything you need to know about GTA 6 so far.

GTA 6 announcement: When was GTA 6 confirmed?

GTA 6 was confirmed in 2022, but Rockstar is yet to release any official screenshots or even a logo just yet. (Image credit: Rockstar Games)

The first GTA 6 announcement came in February 2022, when Rockstar Games snuck out the news that GTA 6 is «well underway» as part of a broader GTA 5 and GTA Online Community Update. With word that Grand Theft Auto 6 is in «active development», Rockstar said: «On behalf of our entire team, we thank you all for your support and cannot wait to step into the future with you!»

In August 2022, Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two Interactive reaffirmed that GTA 6 development is «well underway» as part of the company’s financial results report. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick made some big promises for what GTA 6 will achieve: «With development of the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series well underway, the Rockstar Games team is determined to once again set creative benchmarks for the series, our industry, and for all entertainment, just as the label has done with every one of their frontline releases. «

Leaks

GTA 6 leaks: Are the new GTA 6 leaks real?

We aren’t linking to the GTA 6 leaks directly, so have a nice screenshot of a lighthouse from GTA 5 instead. (Image credit: Rockstar Games)

There was an unprecedented GTA 6 leak on September 18, 2022, which saw dozens of videos and screenshots from an alleged in-development build of the game spread online. Are you wondering whether the GTA 6 leaks are real? Well, Rockstar has since issued a statement confirming the hack: «We recently suffered a network intrusion in which an unauthorized third party illegally accessed and downloaded confidential information from our systems, including early development footage for the next Grand Theft Auto.»

«We are extremely disappointed to have any details of our next game shared with you all in this way,» the Rockstar statement continues. «We will update everyone again soon and, of course, will properly introduce you to this next game when it’s ready. We want to thank everyone for their ongoing support through this situation. »

In the 48 hours since the GTA 6 leak first appeared, the GTA Forums have worked to scrub all remnants of the illegally obtained screenshots and videos to avoid being «obliterated by Rockstar». The dedicated GTA 6 reddit has also taken all links, pictures, and videos of the leak offline, and has committed to staying online with one condition: «We will allow discussions related to the leak without attaching the leaks. We don’t allow comments that has [sic] download links to the leak.»

Will GTA 6 be delayed?

GTA 5’s depiction of Los Santos is still impressive nine years later, so it’s no surprise that GTA 6 is taking a while to develop. (Image credit: Rockstar Games)

In the immediate aftermath of the new GTA 6 leak, there was some concern over how the intrusion would impact ongoing development of the new Grand Theft Auto game. Rockstar has since confirmed in an official statement that the hack will not affect GTA 6 production, or the ongoing security of GTA 5 and GTA Online. «At this time, we do not anticipate any disruption to our live game services nor any long-term effect on the development of our ongoing projects […] Our work on the next Grand Theft Auto game will continue as planned and we remain as committed as ever to delivering an experience to you, our players, that truly exceeds your expectations.»

Release date rumors

GTA 6 release date: When is GTA 6 coming out?

The GTA 6 release date is yet to be confirmed by Rockstar Games. That hasn’t stopped internet sleuths from making some educated guesses. Multiple sources have corroborated a rumor that GTA 6 will release in 2025, which was part of a larger info drop which suggested that Grand Theft Auto 6 would be set in a modern-day Vice City. It’s always wise to approach this sort of speculation with caution, but with the new GTA 6 leaks appearing to confirm a modernized Vice City setting, perhaps a release sometime in 2025 is right on the money.

Why is GTA 6 taking so long?

The unprecedented success of GTA Online, and the development of Red Dead Redemption 2, has kept Rockstar busy over the last decade. (Image credit: Rockstar Games)

A lot of you are wondering why GTA 6 is taking so long to come out. The truth is that, between the success of GTA 5 and GTA Online, not to mention the scope of Red Dead Redemption 2, it’s no surprise that Rockstar is taking its time. The studio said as much when it confirmed that GTA 6 was in development. Rockstar went out of its way to cite the «the unprecedented longevity of GTA 5» – which has been updated and re-released multiple times in the last nine years.

Setting

GTA 6 location: Is the GTA 6 setting Vice City?

The infamous Ocean View Hotel, as seen in Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition  (Image credit: Rockstar Games)

The GTA 6 location has long been speculated, but it looks like we are indeed heading back to Vice City. Rockstar has confirmed that the leaked GTA 6 gameplay footage is real, which means we have a better sense of the city and the setting. For starters, one screen shows an underground rail system with the words «Vice City Metro» printed on the side, while eagle eyed viewers may have even spotted familiar spots from GTA 3: Vice City like the Malibu Club, Ocean View Hotel, Little Haiti, and Vice Beach.

Naturally, the city looks different compared to when you last visited it. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City was set in 1986, and all signs point to the GTA 6 setting being modern day The appearance of NPCs wielding smartphones and modern clothing is evidence enough that Grand Theft Auto 6 is set in a present day pastiche of Miami, Florida, but if that weren’t enough eagle eyed social media users believe a character references the death of LifeInvader CEO, who is killed by Michael De Santa – so it would appear that GTA 6 is set after the events of GTA 5.

Map

GTA 6 map

A screenshot of Vice City from the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition  (Image credit: Rockstar Games)

While the final GTA 6 map is yet to be shown, there are some indicators from the leaked video and screens that indicate a play space that stretches beyond the confines of Vice City. Much in the same way Rockstar expanded upon Los Santos between Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and GTA 5, a few of the leaked screenshots appear to show all-new areas of Vice City. As you may know, Vice City itself is loosely based on Miami, and there’s now speculation that GTA 6 will push further south toward the Everglades (a wetland) and the Florida Keys (a string of tropical islands). Now, the «Gator Keys» were referenced in the original GTA: Vice City as part of a radio broadcast, but the location was never shown in-game. If the screenshots suggest what we think they are, expect the GTA 6 map to contain a mixture of environment types.

Interestingly, fans are convinced that the GTA 6 map will be much larger than that of GTA 5. Using leaked GTA 6 coordinates, the GTA 6 subreddit fans are trying to map out the map itself, and later started stitching GTA 6’s map together using Google Earth and Paint. Clever folks.

Characters

GTA 6 characters: Will there be a GTA 6 female protagonist?

Two characters attacking a fixed location in GTA Online (Image credit: Rockstar Games)

It has been rumored for months now that Rockstar was working on the first GTA 6 female protagonist – at least, a first for the series in the 3D era. A Bloomberg report from earlier this year, which explored the changing company culture within Rockstar North, first reported the news – and it has since been corroborated by the GTA 6 leak. In the early development footage, we’re able to see two new playable GTA 6 characters.

The in-development names for the characters are Jason and Lucia, and it would appear that the character switching system from GTA 5 is returning in some capacity. One leaked clip showed the pair robbing a diner together, with the player in control of one of the characters while the other was piloted by AI. In another clip, we see character swapping – although it is near instantaneous, rather than the slow perspective shift as seen in GTA 5.

Gameplay

GTA 6 gameplay

GTA 5 had impressive city life, and so we can’t wait to see how Rockstar improves this element of the open world for GTA 6. (Image credit: Rockstar)

As Rockstar is yet to release a GTA 6 trailer, it’s difficult for us to say with certainty how this new game will play and how it will innovate on Grand Theft Auto 5. However, it’s clear from the early development footage which leaked out that Rockstar is at least investigating and playtesting some new mechanics. For example, it appears that a new series of stealth mechanics are being introduced – with footage depicting characters crawling while prone, and even carrying bodies.

Additionally, the weapon wheel – which was overhauled for GTA 5 – is returning in some capacity, and the leaked footage suggests that Rockstar is introducing new health buff items such as painkillers. We can also see that the Five Star ‘Wanted’ system is returning, and that the VCPD have improved AI routines for tracking Jason and Lucia after you get on their radar.

While we wait for GTA 6, why not jump into one of the best Rockstar games of all time or one of these great games like GTA. Failing that, create some chaos with these handy GTA 5 cheats

GTA 6: here’s everything we know so far

GTA 6 is arguably the most anticipated game that’s in development right now, unsurprising given that it’s been nearly a decade since the last entry in the series. We’ve heard rumblings of a GTA 6 for years, and many had assumed that it was a guaranteed bet, with the series being as giant as it is these days. These hopes were confirmed earlier this year, with Rockstar finally revealing that it is indeed in development.

Shortly after the announcement however, Rockstar suffered a huge leak related to GTA 6. This included pre-alpha development footage, with a possible glimpse at where the game is set. Despite the huge amount of information on GTA 6 found in the leaks, what the game actually ends up being remains to be seen. There’s still a fair bit of mystery here, including a possible 2024 release date, and the question of who the protagonist (or protagonists) will be.

We won’t be linking to any of the leaked footage directly, especially given how early it all is in development. What we will be offering is a constantly updated page where you can find all of the latest news and rumors on GTA 6. Read on to find out what we know about GTA 6 so far.

  • What is GTA 6? The next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series

GTA 6 release date: when is GTA 6 coming out?

While Rockstar Games has finally announced it’s working on GTA 6, it has said nothing of when the game will release, let alone confirm a release date. According to a recent report by Bloomberg , current and former Rockstar staff reckon GTA 6 is still at least two years away from release, suggesting a a 2024 launch.

What’s more, in a press release  detailing Take-Two Interactive’s deal to buy mobile game company Zynga, a section on «Strategic Rationale and Stockholder Value Creation» contained a note stating that: «Looking ahead, the combined company is expected to deliver a 14% compound annual growth rate… over the three-year period from Take-Two’s Fiscal Years 2021 through 2024. «

In response to that, an analyst from investment banking firm Jefferies, quoted by Axios’ Stephen Totilo on Twitter , said: «there are only a handful of titles that can…provide management with the confidence to put out such a strong guidance; we believe there is at least one Rockstar IP set to be released by FY24.»

This 2024 spike almost lines up with leaker Tom Henderson’s GTA 6 release date prediction. The notable leaker, who is primarily known for his (mostly) accurate previews of Battlefield and Call of Duty, posted a video  sharing a bunch of alleged GTA 6 details. In it, Henderson predicts GTA 6 isn’t going to release until between 2024 and 2025, based on his sources.

Henderson’s prediction has since been corroborated by Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier. His report earlier this year confirmed that Rockstar has been making efforts to overhaul its workplace culture, and previously said on Twitter that Henderson’s claims «[match] up with what I’ve heard».

A release sometime in 2024 looks like a pretty safe bet, then, but one leaker claims this could be wishful thinking. Creator of Rockstar Mag Chris Klippel (who has accurately leaked Rockstar Game news before) claims that while the developer has reached an important working milestone, he doesn’t expect Grand Theft Auto to release before the end of 2024.

«I think that a (real) announcement at the end of the year may be possible,» Klippel tweeted . «In any case, I don’t see the game arriving before the end of 2024.»

So, maybe the 2025 side of that 2024/2025 estimate is more likely.

GTA 6 trailer: when can I watch one?

Unfortunately, Rockstar Games didn’t share a trailer for GTA 6 alongside its announcement, suggesting that the developer is approaching its reveal of Grand Theft Auto 6 differently than its previous titles. With both GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar Games teased an announcement a few days before dropping the first trailer for either game.

But this time Rockstar didn’t tease an announcement at all, nor did it announce the game with a trailer, instead it simply included the announcement as part of a community post, making it difficult to predict whether there will be a trailer sometime soon. It’s worth noting that we saw gameplay footage from an early build leak in September, though this isn’t representative of what’ll be the final product..

Either way, if there’s a Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer, you’ll know about it because the internet will explode – and we’ll let you know too, of course.

GTA 6 map: where and when will GTA 6 be set?

Grand Theft Auto (Image credit: Rockstar Games)

Rockstar Games hasn’t confirmed where GTA 6 will take us, but there’s a plethora of rumors floating around suggesting a variety of settings for the game. Although every online titbit and juicy gossip morsel looks tantalizing, a few hold more water than others.

It’s looking most likely that GTA 6 will be set in Vice City, Rockstar’s fictional version of Miami, or at least a fictional version of Miami. The aforementioned Bloomberg report claims a source «close to the matter» suggests  Vice City will appear in GTA 6, although Rockstar’s original plans were apparently more ambitious. That’s backed up by the leaked gameplay footage, one of which showed a “Vice City Metro” train.

Bloomberg’s report claims that, at the beginning of development, GTA 6 encompassed huge areas modeled after both North and South America. That scope was apparently cut back, however, to focus on Vice City and its surrounding area, though «the game’s world remains large, with more interior locations than previous Grand Theft Auto games».

But the map won’t remain static, according to the report. Rockstar plans to update GTA 6 with more cities and interior locations after release, with these updates set to be substantially larger than those GTA 5 has received. The idea is to give developers more breathing room to create the game’s expansive map and cut down on stressful overtime during development. It also means you’ll have new areas to explore after the game hits shelves. According to Bloomberg, Rockstar plans to add new missions and cities to the game “on a regular basis”, giving us new areas to explore while hopefully cutting crunch at the studio.

Leaker Tom Henderson has similarly claimed that while Vice City will be coming to GTA 6 in some capacity, the game’s map isn’t as big as previous rumors suggested.

In addition, Henderson claims that GTA 6 won’t be set be in the ’80s or ’90s, but instead will have a modern setting. This is apparently to allow the base game to «fit» with GTA Online, with developers wanting «as much freedom as possible to release as many DLCs as possible».

But it’s not just GTA 6 that Henderson shared details on. The leaker claims that GTA Online, accompanying GTA 6’s release, will feature an evolving map that could change each time a new GTA 6 DLC is released. Henderson compared this map to that of Fortnite’s and also claimed that GTA 6’s release will see additions made to the «default» GTA Online map, including new areas and an expansion to the map.

It’s worth noting that Henderson did caveat that he is «not known for GTA 6 leaks» and that viewers should take these rumors will a grain of salt, as his sources may be «less reliable» than those of his Call of Duty and Battlefield leaks.

Given how it appears in the leaked build, we think a return to Vice City in some form is now guaranteed, which would tie into the rumors mentioned above. But, outside of that, we’ve yet to get an official confirmation of GTA 6’s setting from Rockstar itself.

GTA 6 story and characters: what to expect

Rockstar Games hasn’t confirmed GTA 6’s story or characters yet but reports and rumors may point to what we can expect from Grand Theft Auto 6’s storytelling.

According to Bloomberg’s report, GTA 6 will feature the series’ first female protagonist and center around a pair of characters styled after the American criminal duo Bonnie and Clyde. This is backed up by the leaked gameplay footage, which shows two different protagonists, both male and female.

Bloomberg’s report details Rockstar’s efforts to change its workplace culture, and how the developer “has spent the last four years overhauling its culture and working to become a kinder, more progressive company.” As part of the changes, “Grand Theft Auto VI will have a female Latina protagonist – the first playable woman in modern Rockstar history.” Who the second leading character is and what the nature of their relationship will be isn’t clear.

This isn’t the first we’ve heard a report of a playable female character in GTA 6. Prominent leaker Tom Henderson previously reported that the game will feature «multiple playable characters», including one female character who is set to be the «bright one», with a focus on technology and hacking.

In Schreier’s report, he writes that “the woman, who is Latina, will be one of a pair of leading characters in a story influenced by the bank robbers Bonnie and Clyde». Developers at Rockstar are «being cautious not to ‘punch down’ by making jokes about marginalized groups,» in contrast to previous entries in the series.

But this may not have always been the case. According to Axios’ Stephen Totilo , at one point GTA 6 was to have three cities and four protoganists. If these reports are true, the number of protagonists has been cut down, similarly to the cities.

The story itself, outside of the Bonnie and Clyde stylized characters, is also unconfirmed. However several rumors have pointed to GTA 6’s story focusing on drug-running, drawing inspiration from shows and movies like Narcos and Tom Cruise’s Made in America.

We could be waiting a while to hear anything official from Rockstar on GTA 6’s story and characters  – likely until the game’s official reveal  –  but news of the series’ first potential female protagonist is certainly enough to get us excited.

GTA 6 gameplay — what do we know right now?

Seeing as Rockstar has yet to release any official details on gameplay, we have very little to go off of currently. According to the leaked early development footage we say this year, it does seem that Rockstar is trying out some new mechanics for GTA 6. There seems to be a focus on robbery and heists, with some new stealth mechanics thrown in for good measure.  From the footage that leaked (now deleted), things look very similar to GTA 5, but with some additional and updated aspects like being able to go prone. Of course, this was all clearly early development, so there’s no saying what the GTA 6 gameplay will end up being like.

GTA 6 news and rumors: what do we know so far?

Grand Theft Auto (Image credit: Rockstar Games) (Image credit: Rockstar Games)

Below we’ve collected all of the latest leaks and rumors that hint at when GTA 6 might be launched – and what we can expect from the new game. As always, take these details with a huge pinch of salt – some are old, some are from now-deleted sources and others might just be keen fans getting carried away.

Fans attempting to map the game
Rockstar and publisher Take Two are currently clearing up the recent GTA 6 leak but fans are attempting to use some of the leaked footage to piece together what the game’s open world might look like.

Using the leaked gameplay footage, which apparently had visible in-game coordinates, Kotaku reports that fans on the GTA Forums are working together to construct a map with location placements. Having to avoid the actual leaked images and footage, the fans are using tools like Google Earth and Microsoft Paint in the project.

Of course, given everything in the leak is subject to change, the project is very much speculative and it’ll be a while before we get a look at the true GTA 6 map for ourselves.

Rockstar addresses GTA 6 leak
Rockstar Games has formally confirmed this weekend’s GTA 6 leak is real. Releasing a statement via Twitter , the team advised this included «early development footage for the next Grand Theft Auto.» While they don’t comment on particular details spotted in the leak, the team says it’s «extremely disappointed to have any details of our next game shared this way.»

Crucially, Rockstar’s statement advises that this shouldn’t cause any delays, stating «we do not anticipate any disruption to our live game services nor any long-term effect on the development of our ongoing projects. » Promising an official update to this next game «when it is ready,» you can read that in full below.

GTA 6 suffers huge gameplay leak
Grand Theft Auto 6 has just seen what’s easily one of the biggest leaks in gaming history, rivalling Half-Life 2’s pre-release leak in 2003. Roughly 90 videos were posted onto the official GTA Forums by a poster named teapotuberhacker, containing gameplay footage that’s early in development. Since going live, Rockstar and Take-Two have since removed these through copyright strikes.

Updating their original post (now deleted), teapottuberhacker claimed he’s looking to make a deal with Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive, issuing this statement:

“Ok, so this has gone unexpectedly viral, woke up to 3000 Telegram DM’s. If you are an employee of Rockstar or Take 2 and you’re trying to contact me, send me a message containing 22559219889638875756 on Telegram or you can email me at [email address redacted] ** from your corporate email address ** I will try to read all these replies soon – I am looking to negotiate a deal.

Reports of single-player DLC returning
GTA 6 could feature single-player DLC according to a recent report from known leaker Tez2. Writing on the GTAForums , Tez2 touched on recent reports on how the game could expand over time, claiming that “Rockstar will go back to how they were planning future content before GTA Online success boomed”.

This, Tez2 says, means that Rockstar will plan the first new cities and missions that will be added as DLC prior to the release of GTA 6. This is apparently “to allocate resources towards whatever new title they will work on after VI release”.

As for the cities that will be part of this DLC, according to Tez2, they will be «new cities or islands. Like Cayo Perico or North Yankton style. That way, Rockstar can introduce a new heist for the next GTA Online mode with each new DLC. If we are lucky, we could receive a fully fledged new city from time to time.”

This would, as Tez2 notes, be a shift after Rockstar revealed to Game Informer in 2017 that it moved away from plans to bring DLC to GTA 5’s single-player back in 2015 in favor of expanding GTA Online and working on Red Dead Redemption 2.

A change in workplace culture
Bloomberg’s aforementioned report details Rockstar’s efforts to change its workplace culture, and how the developer “has spent the last four years overhauling its culture and working to become a kinder, more progressive company.” As part of the changes, “Grand Theft Auto VI will have a female Latina protagonist – the first playable woman in modern Rockstar history.”

Bloomberg adds that production on the game “has been slower than expected, largely due to the pandemic but also due to these changes, as employees grow accustomed to working at this new Rockstar. But many say morale is higher than ever and that the cultural changes are well worth it.”

Rockstar hiring push and a focus on GTA 6
Rockstar has already confirmed that the development of GTA 6 is “well underway” but a recent hiring push suggests it might be moving up a gear. As spotted by PCGamesN , Rockstar Games is hiring for over 200 positions across its global studios with a large number of the roles added around mid-2022.

The jobs span a range of development fields, from UX, to production, to animation, to art. They’re also open at many of the developer’s studios across the world. The jobs are, of course, not all necessarily tied to Grand Theft Auto 6 but with that game being the developer’s focus at the moment, there’s a good chance that many are.

This follows a July 2022 post from Rockstar announcing that it’s pulling back on major updates to Red Dead Online, Rockstar has touched on its intentions for Grand Theft Auto going forward and the focus it has on developing Grand Theft Auto 6.

“Over the past few years,” the post reads, “we have been steadily moving more development resources towards the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series — understanding more than ever the need to exceed players’ expectations and for this next entry to be the best it can possibly be — and as a result, we are in the process of making some changes to how we support Red Dead Online.”

I still believe the game is releasing in 2024-2025. I’m referring to turbulent because it hasn’t been plain sailing just like with every other game in development during COVID etc. People leaving and what-not.June 27, 2022

An engine ahead of its time?
The graphics for GTA 6 could be seriously impressive if a recent report is anything to go by. Journalist and Rockstar insider Chris Klippel (via T3 ) has said that the engine being used to create GTA 6 is “ahead of its time”.

Klippel claimed on Twitter that «the new version of the graphics engine of RockstarGames (RAGE9) which will be used for GTA6 is likely to be quite incredible», adding that he’s been “able to get very positive feedback, we really shouldn’t be disappointed on this point.”

Visiblement, la nouvelle version du moteur graphique de #RockstarGames (RAGE9) qui sera utilisée pour #GTA6 risque d’être assez incroyable. First screenshot hidden in the GTA trilogy?
A single image of a house in the GTA Trilogy version of San Andreas has fans thinking they might be looking at the very first screenshot from GTA 6. One GTA Forums user identified a real-life house in Boca Raton near Miami that looks like the house. Those who have been keeping up with the reports that GTA 6 might be set in Miami (or at least a fictional version of it) will know why that’s significant and fans are taking it as a hint about the setting. One Twitter user and self-professed Rockstar fan, Matheusvictorbr, said in April 2022 that they’ve been able to verify that the house is from GTA 6. There has, however, been nothing official from Rockstar.

GTA 6 could reward you in cryptocurrency instead of cash
Tom Henderson , a well-known Call of Duty and Battlefield leaker, claimed on Twitter that he’s heard that some of GTA 6’s missions will reward players in in-game payments of bitcoin rather than cash.

According to Henderson, bitcoin wouldn’t replace cash as in-game currency, but instead would sit alongside it. Henderson claims that the stock market will make a return in GTA 6, with the addition of a broker for different cryptocurrencies.

These bitcoin payments apparently be rewarded for every mission but instead will be rewarded by more high-profile characters who want to move high amounts of «untraceable cash and fast».

This in-game currency will apparently not be called bitcoin, but will still be a form of cryptocurrency.

I heard recently that in GTA 6, some missions will reward you in bitcoin instead of cash for completing some missions. The stock market feature will return, with the addition of a broker for different cryptocurrencies. If GTA 6 incorporates this right, it’s huge for crypto.June 3, 2021

New patent suggests smarter NPCs

Story reportedly finished
The story for Rockstar’s GTA 6 is apparently finished if a supposed insider is to be believed.

In February 2020, Chris ‘Liberty93’ from Rockstar Mag (a French fansite) claimed the story for Grand Theft Auto 6 was wrapped up prior to the departure of Rockstar’s head writer, Dan Houser, and that the next GTA entry will still have the “soul” of a typical Rockstar game.

Although a finished story might suggest a release date for GTA 6 is close, Chris did point out that many changes were made to Red Dead Redemption 2’s story during development, despite it being ‘completed’ way back in 2012.

“They still made changes in late 2017, early 2018, and many little details were modified,» Chris explained.

Dan Houser leaves Rockstar
Revealed in a statement by Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two Interactive, Houser (who was has been on an extended leave period since spring 2019) will be officially left Rockstar Games in March 11, 2020. His brother Sam Houser remains present as president.

Houser, who has variously acted as writer, producer and voice actor at Rockstar, led Rockstar Games to become one of the biggest developers in the industry. It’s currently unknown whether this will have an impact on GTA 6’s development.

GTA 6 could be the last GTA game
This is more informed speculation from Tom Henderson than anything concrete. But we’ve included a lot of his predictions and leaks in this guide, so felt it was only right to flag his latest theory recently published on Dualshockers: GTA 6 could be the last GTA title.

He acknowledges it would be a shame for such a huge franchise to end but suggests that, with GTA Online’s huge popularity and a continuously evolving map, there might not be a reason for Rockstar Games to ever follow up GTA6.

«Rockstar seems to be making GTA 6 the most epic future-proof video game in history, with constant updates that not only give the fans new content but keeps the world new and interesting by evolving,» he writes.

Last week was incredibly busy for GTA, and not in the best way. The alleged 9 hacker0025 had already arrested , hacked Rockstar Games and, among other things, stole the source code of Grand Theft Auto 6 from her, posting many videos of from an early test version of the game after that.

Fresh information about a possible release window, of course, is incomparable in its effect to a gameplay leak, but if it turns out to be true, then some players who expected to play the new part of Rockstar’s crime thriller in the near future will be very disappointed.

Analysts and journalists predicted the release of the game in 2023-2024, but according to another insider, GTA 6 will go on sale only in three years — in 2025 .

«Grand Theft Auto VI will be released in 2025. It’s a no brainer, I’m just here to confirm it.»

This was reported on Twitter by Adrian Perea , who is responsible for many leaks . For example, he correctly predicted the postponement of Forspoken and Hogwarts Legacy to January and February 2023, respectively, revealed the release date of Skull and Bones , and announced the release of Uncharted on PC in October, which was later also confirmed .

According to Adrian, the official announcement of Grand Theft Auto 6 will take place next year.

GTA 6 rumors, GTA 6 release date — 2023, return to Vice City, female lead, all rumors and leaks about GTA 6, news

All the main theories in one place.

GTA VI is not coming as soon as we would like

An impressive amount of facts — or fakes — about GTA VI have been posted on 4chan. You are probably confused by the source. But in 2019In the same year, they also published a long list of unannounced details about Pokemon Sword and Shield, which were later confirmed. By the way, the post about GTA VI was deleted almost immediately.

Anon said that the announcement of the new GTA is scheduled for the spring of 2022, and the release — for the fall of 2023. Most of the insiders think the same way, they rely on reports from Take-Two Interactive. These documents are published five years in advance, and from them it is clear that there are big expenses planned for the financial year 2023-2024, which may well be spent on marketing a new big game.

Rumors from 4chan also confirm this. Anonymous said that the tentative date will be October 2023, the announcement will take place next spring, and the PC version will be released earlier than other options. Also, an anonymous insider noted that the online mode will appear later than the launch of the offline version.

But there are other rumors hinting that the official information about the game will be until 2022. So, in addition to GTA Online, a new car appeared — the VETIR truck. The name of the truck on the poster with its image seems to be specially written so that it can be divided into the Roman numeral VI and the Arabic numbers 7 and 11. Perhaps on November 7 or July 11 — depending on the format of writing dates — the long-awaited announcement will happen.

What about the size of the map and the length of the story?

The approximate length of the story is 60 hours. This is the standard for the latest projects of Rockstar Games, so you should not admire or grieve because of it. As in Red Dead Redemption 2, the story will be divided into chapters. But the map is smaller than in RDR2. But there are much more activities per square meter. No wonder: there are clearly more classes in modern times than in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Tell us in the comments which part of GTA do you like the most? For example, I spent half my childhood without getting out in GTA: Vice City.

Oh, how I want to return, but how I want to break into Vice City. To this street to three houses, where everything is simple and familiar…

Let’s return to GTA VI. The map supposedly includes Miami. This implies a return to Vice City, as older leaks have been talking about repeatedly. In the new leak, the insider claims that the game starts in the 70s of the last century. And this is another argument in favor of a conditional return to Vice City: the adventures of Tommy Vercetti began in 1986.

In addition to updating its gtavi.com domain, Rockstar has launched a brand new gtavicecityonline. com. Given the success of GTA V’s multiplayer adventures, it’s safe to assume that Vice City could make an appearance in online entertainment, but is it weird for DLC to have its own standalone page?

One of the minor characters in the latest update for GTA Online is a guy named Gustavo. The older man is wearing an orange and white Hawaiian shirt, very similar to the one worn by another character with the same name (Gonzalez) in Vice City and Vice City Stories. It may be a coincidence, but we know Rockstar’s fondness for teasers of future projects in current ones.

Insider Tom Henderson told one of his subscribers that the action will take place in modern times. Perhaps there will be events and surroundings close in spirit to Vice City.

The protagonist can become the protagonist

Information has already slipped that the main character of the new part will be a woman. But the author of the new leak claims that the only main character will be a man. And the woman, although she was planned, still remained out of work. Her image could not be formed in such a way that it would suit the story as much as possible.

But the other day, insider Tom Henderson said that the woman will still become the protagonist of the new part of GTA (the tweet has now been deleted). Tom is considered a bona fide online shooter insider, and recently successfully predicted several new additions to the Call of Duty franchise, as well as a PS5 launch date. But the most interesting thing is that in his wording a woman is one of the protagonists. Now it is not known whether it is possible to change the gender of the main character or whether there will be several main characters. Probably, the main characters will be brother and sister, as in Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey.

However, according to 4chan insiders, the game will be «very politically incorrect», so Rockstar may have changed its mind about the female protagonist in order to avoid scandal.

According to other sources, there will be four main characters: driver Walter Wallace, smuggler Thomas Branigan, drug dealer Marcus Burke and an unnamed military man. This fits in with the flow of the plot, where the main action revolves around the fight against drug dealers.

According to a 4chan insider, the story in GTA VI will be the most powerful story Rockstar has ever created. Although not as personal as in RDR2. This will be possible thanks to the fact that the co-founder, producer and head writer of Rockstar Games, Dan Houser, who left the studio after RDR 2, «burned out» to the ground, will still return to work on GTA VI.

There will also be a mafia in the game. It’s unclear exactly what role she will play, but her biggest impact will be in Liberty City. This city, by the way, will be available only in a few tasks.

Gameplay features of the new GTA. They promise parachutes, obesity, bullying from NPC

There is a small leak that parachuting can be pulled up in GTA VI. Dataminers found a mention of skydiving in the RDR 2 update. This is unlikely to appear in the Wild West, and parachutes were not found in the files of the fifth part of the series.

Probably, in the sixth GTA they will be allowed not only to skydive, but also to receive an electronic certificate of a professional athlete. In addition to them, surfing, windsurfing and roller derby will be entertained.

The level of nudity will be comparable to Cyberpunk 2077, and when interacting with explosions, the limbs will scatter in all directions separately from the body. Also on models of people there will be cuts from a machete and fragmented bones after bullet wounds.

Speaking of bodies. They can be changed by overeating food or pumping up in the gym. And NPCs will comment on your appearance. In particular, your choice of clothes and hairstyles. And cars. They, like hairstyles, will become obsolete, so passers-by may speak unflatteringly about your rusty trough.

GTA VI is expected to be similar to RDR2 in some small ways. For example, weapons will be displayed on the character, and not hidden in bottomless pockets. The hero will not be able to carry the entire arsenal, so unused barrels will be stored in the trunk of purchased cars. Also, the protagonist will be hunted not only by evil police officers, but also by mercenaries.

And the boom in cryptocurrencies prompted Rockstar to create in-game «bitcoins». Insider Tom Henderson stated that for completing some missions you will receive a reward in cryptocurrency. It will not be a meaningless load lying around in your inventory — you can take part in trading in the stock market and invest.

More logical traffic system

Other leaks came from patent descriptions produced by employees of Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar Games. At the same time, the authors indicate the employees of the latter. The patent talks about a new navigation system in virtual worlds designed to create realistic behavior for NPCs driving cars.
