Skyrim console commands and cheats: the most useful on PC
Want to know which console commands you can use in Skyrim? After a decade, Skyrim continues to endure for many reasons. Whether you love the world, the characters, the pure meme potential, or the huge modding community that strives to deliver endless content, it’s easy to sink hundreds, if not thousands, of hours into the RPG beast. However, sometimes it’s fun to just play God, and console commands let you do just that.

How to enter Skyrim console commands
To enter console commands in Skyrim, you need to press the ‘grave’ key on a UK keyboard, or ‘tilde’ on a US keyboard. If you’re currently stuck scouring your keyboard, these keys are always sat next to the number 1 and above the TAB key. This will bring up the console command menu.
If you’ve never seen console commands before, it might all look a bit complicated, but it really isn’t! To help ease you in, here’s a little example of how to actually type things into the console. Let’s take the setplayerrace command, which lets us change your character’s race. For this example, we’ll change into an Argonian.
In the table below, this is listed as:
- setplayerrace (race id)
But you should write it in the console as:
- setplayerrace argonianrace
The race ID for an Argonian is argonianrace, so we type that in without the brackets. Brackets are only used in this table to help clarify when there are multiple IDs needed in one command. You don’t need to use brackets when typing yourself.
Lots of commands will use IDs, which are used by the game to locate the specific assets for you to mess around with. To find the right ID you’re looking for, use the help «keyword» command, which is the first one listed in the table.
Every Skyrim console command
Now that you’ve got the console command menu up, it’s about time we gave you some cheats to use. Here’s a list of over 50 console commands in Skyrim for PC, so you can go wild and shape the world as you see fit. We’ve included all of the important commands, such as toggle God mode and immortality, as well as some more generic commands, such as toggle trees and change FOV, so that you can play around and alter the settings of your game at your own risk.
Beware: if you’re just messing around, do this on a new save, as you don’t want to permanently damage your main save file.
With that in mind, we’ve separated this list of commands into 6 different command types. These are:
- Toggle — Settings and states that you can toggle on and off
- Target — Effects that you can have on a target character or object. Use ‘player.’ followed by the console command to target your character
- Player — Effects that specifically apply to the player
- Quest — Commands that alter quests and quest stages
- Weather — Allows you to alter the weather
- System — System-level changes and effects

Skyrim console commands, cheats for PC

Player console commands
Here are some of our favourite commands for granting your character godlike status, and unlimited funds — to name just a couple:
addshout — Type the name of your desired Dragon Shout after this command to add it to your repertoire immediately.
AdvSkill [SKILL ID] # — If you want to level up a particular skill, simply enter this command. SKILL ID is simply the name of the skill in question. After that, just add the number you wish to level it up by.
player.advlevel — Keep entering this command repeatedly to advance your character one level each time, without having to do anything resembling actual effort.
player.modav carryweight # — Enter this command to increase the amount of random crap you’re able to stuff into your backpack.
player.setav speedmult ### — The higher the number you use here, the faster your character will move throughout the world. Warning: max level is really, really fast…
player.setcrimegold ### — Use this command to change your wanted level. At 000 you’re clean as a whistle, while at 999 it’s time to start legging it.
player.setlevel ## — Change the number to whatever level you’d like your decidedly unheroic hero to be.
psb — If you want to unlock every single spell in the game, just tap this command in.
sexchange — This command will change the sex of your hero or heroine.
showracemenu — Starting to regret some of the decisions you made during the character creation phase of the game? Use this command to revisit your starting choices.
tgm — Activates god mode, making you completely invincible.
tcl — Turns off clipping, allowing you to walk anywhere, in any direction, through any thing.
tim — In immortal mode, you can still take damage but you can’t actually be killed.
rm — Use to activate and deactivate run mode.
unlock — Make sure you’ve highlighted the chest, or door, or case that you want to unlock, then enter this simple command to open it.

World and environment console commands
There are several commands that will help you muck about with the world itself. Here are some of the most useful:
fov — Instead of messing around with. ini files, you can use this console command to set your field of view on the fly.
tai — If you enter this command, every AI character in the game will stop in their tracks. Run it again to get everyone back to business.
tcai — If, on the other hand, you simply want to take the sting out of a fight, use this code to render every inhabitant of the game completely placid.
tfc — Want to take to the skies and have a proper aerial view of Skyrim? Enter this code.
tfow — Removes all fog of war elements from your local map.
tm — Enter this into the console window to disable every menu element, making it easy to capture pristine screenshots. Note that this also disables the console itself, so you’ll have to re-enter the code blind in order to reactivate the UI.
tmm — By adding 0 or 1 to the end of this command you’ll be able to activate and deactivate every map marker in the game.
tg — Toggles grass on and off when entered.
tt — As above, but for trees.
tws — Disables the appearance of water.
Item console commands
Each item in Skyrim has a special code associated with it and you can find a comprehensive round-up of them at uesp.net. Enter the following command in — along with the appropriate Item ID — to get your hands on the goodies without any effort whatsoever.
player.additem ITEM NAME ###
Note that the number should be entered in three-digit format, so 015 for fifteen of the item in question, 009 for nine and so on.
To get you started, here are some very common items you’re likely to want to add to your stash.
player.additem 0000000f ### — This will allow you to add whatever chunk of change you want to your wallet.
player.additem 0000000a ### — You can never have too many lockpicks, so why not add a load to your backpack nice and quickly?
coc qasmoke — For the man or woman who doesn’t have everything, use this command to access a special room housing all of Skyrim’s items.
removeallitems — Want someone’s stuff and can’t even be bothered to ask for it? Enter this code to have them stripped bare, and then send everything they own to your backpack. Thanks!

Quest console commands
You’ll need to enter the quest ID for some of these commands. You can find all of these identifiers over at uesp.net
caqs — This will wrap up every single stage of the main quest. Warning: this can be a little buggy and has the potential to make a real mess of your save.
completequest QUEST ID — Finishes off the specified quest altogether. Hooray for no effort!
kill — Simply highlight your victim and then tap this command in to have them crash to the floor.
killall — When you need everyone around you to die fast, enter this genocidal console command to get the job done.
movetoqt — Picked up a quest and can’t be bothered to walk to your victim? Simply tap this command in to head to them instantly.
player.sqs QUEST ID — Displays all of the stages of a given quest.
resurrect — If you’re feeling no small amount of remorse for your senseless killing, target the corpse and then enter this command to bring them back to life.
setstage QUEST ID # — Advances a quest to a particular stage. Use this if you’ve bugged out somewhere and need a quick fix.

Cheat code for money
In the game, Dovahkiin has to spend quite a lot of gold: to improve armor, buy houses, etc. d. There is not always enough time to collect them, so you can enter a cheat code for money in Skyrim. Let’s figure out how to do it right.
Enter the code for money:
1. Press the tilde key ( ~ ).
2. Type player.additem 0000000F «number».
Instead of «amount» we write the amount of money that is needed. To get 10,000 gold, you can type «player.additem 0000000F 10000» or «additem 0000000F 10000» (the cheat is typed without quotes).

Codes for interacting with objects
This includes all commands that in their action are somehow directed to a specific object or NPC. The kill code kills the selected creature, and resurrect 1 resurrects it. Another very useful command — unlock — will open any selected lock for you. Several cheats in addition to the category:
— stopcombat — stops the battle with the NPC;
— resetai — clears the memory of the selected NPC, as if you had not spoken to him;
— inv — shows the inventory of the selected object.
Skill Commands
In Skyrim, it is possible to quickly unlock and upgrade any skill available in the game. With the psb command, your character will get all the dragon screams, and the code player.setav [skill name] X will set any desired level of a certain skill. If you wish, you can also remove the shout cooldown with command player.setav shoutrecoverymult 0.
Item commands
Similar to skills, you can get any in-game item if you know its in-game ID. The command player.additem [id] [number ] will help you with this. For example, Mehrunes’ Razor ID is 000240D2 and Sanguine Rose’s ID is 0001CB36. If you don’t know what specific item you want, then entering the ID 000C2CDF or 000C2CD7, you will receive a chest with a bunch of enchanted weapons and armor, respectively!

Why do we need cheat codes in Skyrim

You can call any NPCs and monsters near you and even arrange a battle in the spirit of “100 giants against 200 frosty spiders”. Cheat codes also help gamers set up and install mods, of which there are thousands for Skyrim. In general, even if you want to play the game “honestly”, then you will still come across cheats one day.
How to enter cheat codes
Before moving on to the codes themselves, let’s first figure out how to enter them in the game. In many games, cheats are applied by pressing the necessary keys, or by entering a word in the main menu or in the game itself. Skyrim is more advanced in this regard — for all codes, namely console commands, there is a special window — the in-game console.

Whatever platform you play on (Steam, GOG, others), by default, the game console will open on Yo (tilde ~).
A large dark menu will open at the bottom of the screen. The game itself will “freeze” at this point, so don’t worry that someone will kill you or something will happen. And this is where the problems begin that almost all Russian-speaking fans of the Scrolls face.
The problem is that commands can only be entered into the console in English. If your game is in Russian, then the input will initially be in Russian. Consequently, nothing will work. nine0003
How to change the language in the console
There are several ways, we will consider each one separately.
- The easiest way is to change the game language to English. All the lines of the characters, descriptions, abilities will change, but the problems with the console will immediately disappear. Many do not like this option, because players prefer to play in Russian. But, if you are satisfied with the English localization of Skyrim, then I advise you to use this method as the easiest.
- The second way is to change the primary input language in Windows to English. Thanks to this, when you open the console and start typing a command, it will immediately be entered in English.
If you have a version of Windows before 10, then you can change the input language in the “Control Panel”, or by opening the languages menu in the Start panel. In Windows 10, everything is much simpler: click on the language icon in the “Taskbar”, select the desired language and click the “Use as the main language” button. In my screenshot, the icon is greyed out because the language is already selected as the default. This should fix the issue with console

General cheat codes.
There are many commands in the game like “add a specific weapon to inventory” or “level up by a given amount”, but there are also general ones, which we will first look at.

Important! Before using any command, I advise you to save first. You never know what you have time to do with cheats. To apply the command, you need to press Enter on the keyboard, and to repeat the previous command, you should use the arrows or the Page Up / Page Down keys.
Cheat codes for leveling your character
There are many codes for the complete improvement of your character: health, mana, stamina, weight, level, skills, words of power, etc. Let’s consider them. nine0003

So, we figured out the running speed, jump height and attack speed. Now let’s move on to the characteristics of the Dragonborn — maximum health, mana, stamina, level, etc.

After pumping the stats, it’s time to move on to the skills. There are two options here: add a certain amount of experience to the desired skill, or immediately set the skill level to the desired one. The first method will allow you to get ability points, so I advise you to use it. nine0003
