Nukes: They’re completely RAD.

By
James Wright

Wasteland wanderers are once again on the hunt for Nuke codes across Appalachia. If you’re new to the game and yet to experience the thrill of launching weapons of mass destruction it’s quite a sight to behold.

Even if you don’t launch the nuke yourself, someone on your server might, creating huge blast zones that are radiated for up to four real-world hours in the game. These nuclear blast zones can be fantastic for picking up top-tier loot, but they’re also rather challenging. The equivalent of end-game content stacked numerous high-level irradiated monsters.

So you’ll want to make sure you’re suitably levelled up and tooled to meet the challenge.

How To Launch Nukes In Fallout 76?

Unsurprisingly it’s not easy launching a nuclear warhead, even in video games.

In Fallout 76 there’s a series of steps you must first complete before you’re given the power to press that big red button of doom.

We’ve tried to condense this into the main steps just below, but if this is your first time, you might want to dig out a more in-depth guide if you’re starting from scratch.

  1. Join the Enclave faction.
  2. Complete the following missions: ‘Back to Basic’ and ‘Officer on Deck’
  3. Access Whitespring Bunker to get the ‘I Am Become Death’ mission. This also marks new locations of interest on your map, needed to launch the nuke
  4. Next retrieve a Nuclear Keycard from shooting a Cargobot (Note: they’re protected by Vertibots)
  5. Find eight nuclear codes scattered across the map. You normally find them from killing Scorched or Feral Ghoul officers.

  1. Decrypt the nuclear code fragments to arm the Nuclear Keycard
  2. Clear out the nuclear silo and then use the Nuke terminal
  3. Select your desired location for where you want to detonate the nuke
  4. Equip your Hazmat Suit, Gas Mask or Power Armor to stop radiation poisoning
  5. Explore your nuke blast zone and be prepared to face higher-difficulty enemies

It’s also worth noting that should you detonate a nuke at a Fissure Site, it will also create a Scorched Earth event; this is where you can fight a Scorchbeast queen.

Such is the difficulty of this event that it is recommended that you use a high-level character in a group of eight or more players. Good Luck!

Out of the Blue Passwords (Open Sesame Seed Code)

By
Hodey Johns

Updated

Players that are trying to gain access to the lab room in Fallout 76’s Out of the Blue quest can find the codes that they need here.

Fallout 76‘s Steel Reign update adds a number of new main quests to Bethesda’s highly-popular online RPG, one of which is called Out of the Blue. As players make their way through this quest, they will eventually receive an objective that instructs them to gain access to the lab room.

To complete this step, Fallout 76 fans will need to enter unique codes into three separate password panels, and this guide is here to provide assistance with that endeavor.

Spoilers alert! Gamers that would like to solve the puzzle themselves and only need some hints should skip down to the second section for assistance. The first section of this guide reveals what the codes are without any guesswork.

Door Codes

  • Password Panel 1 (Open): 12-11-22-13
  • Password Panel 2 (Sesame): 8-22-8-26-14-22
  • Password Panel 3 (Seed): 8-22-22-23

To note, while converting the passwords into their numerical forms is not a particularly difficult task, it can be a bit tedious. For those RPG players that would prefer to skip this process altogether, these are the three conversions, and they should be entered into the password panels in the order that they are provided.

After inputting these codes, players should interact with the red button that is positioned directly to the right of the final password panel. This action will open the nearby lab room door, and indeed fans should see the «gain access to the lab room» objective disappear when that occurs. There are a few things that Fallout 76 needs to improve on, but this code puzzle seems fair.

Finding And Solving The Codes

The trick to obtaining the Out of the Blue passwords in Fallout 76 is to convert a series of words into numbers. This is indicated in the «Reminder About Password» note that fans will find on the wall just to the right of the password panels, though the document does not provide the words that must be converted. Indeed, players will need to look to another note for that information, and it can be found on a desk that is across from the password panels.

Upon inspection of this second document, fans will learn that the password for the lab room is «Open Sesame Seed.» To convert these words into a suitable form, players should simply head to the desk that is just around the corner from the «Open Sesame Seed» note and look to the blackboard that is on the wall above it. This blackboard provides a full breakdown of how letters and numbers are connected for the purposes of the lab room codes, and players can perform all of their translations with that information.

For players that need a bit more help, think A = 1, B= 2, etc. Then know that the codes for the three doors are the words, converted to numbers, in order. The first door is «open,» the next one is «sesame,» and the final one is «seed.» If that still seems too difficult, don’t give up on the game, go ahead and see the first section for the full breakdown.

Fallout 76 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Fallout 76 Nuclear Launch Codes and Location (November 2022)

Here are the Fallout 76 Nuclear Launch Codes and Locations this week to turn your Wasteland enemies to dust, along with information on how to enter.

The horrors of nuclear war are one of the core themes of the Fallout series, and Fallout 76 allows players to wreak nuclear havoc in the wastelands. While we have been able to use nuclear weapons before in games like Fallout 3 (RIP Megaton), Fallout 76 allows us to use them against other players, turning their settlements into irradiated ruins.

However, using nukes in Fallout 76 requires some work, and first you’ll need to find launch pads and capture the location. You will then need to know the relevant nuclear codes in order to launch these weapons of mass destruction in the game.

Remember that Fallout 76 nuclear codes change every week, so be sure to check back next week for what they are.

As mentioned above, fragments must be collected from ghoul officers who spawn in different locations. Moreover, the codes are not eternal — their “expiration date” is only 7 days from the moment of receipt, after which they disappear. Why they all this time, being in the pocket of a half-decayed ghoul jacket, were quite suitable — the developers are silent. Apparently, this is due to the mechanics and in-game balance of Fallout 76. Officer ghouls live in military bases Alpha, Bravo and Charlie. Everything would be quite complicated, given that the search can be delayed, but meticulous gamers found that the developers did not bother with encryption. Perhaps in the future the “shop will be closed”, but now it is enough to get one fragment of the rocket mine code, and from this piece you can completely decipher the necessary information. There are three mines in Fallout 76, and the resulting codes can apply to any of them.
