Xbox and Bethesda will present a Developer_Direct on Wednesday, January 25, providing fans with an inside look at some of the games coming to Xbox, PC and Game Pass over the next few months.

Presented by the game creators themselves from studios including Arkane Austin, Mojang Studios, Turn 10 Studios, and ZeniMax Online Studios, the Developer_Direct will focus on big features, extended gameplay showcases, and the latest info for Xbox games launching in the next few months, including The Elder Scrolls Online, Forza Motorsport, Minecraft Legends, and Redfall.

To dedicate the proper amount of time for a deep dive into Bethesda Game Studios’ Starfield, a standalone show is in the works.

Fans should tune in on Xbox channels (Twitch, YouTube) and Bethesda channels (Twitch, YouTube) at 12pm PT/3pm ET, January 25 to see all the latest on:

  • The Elder Scrolls Online: Studio Director Matt Firor will unveil 2023’s major Chapter update, including the latest regions of Tamriel to become playable in ESO, as well as a major new feature coming in the game’s biggest update this year. The Developer_Direct will be immediately followed by the full, standalone ESO Chapter Reveal Event, hosted by Zenimax Online Studios, which will provide all the in-depth details ESO players will be keen to know.
  • Forza Motorsport: The team at Turn 10 Studios have been hard at work, bringing fans the next generation of Forza Motorsport, built from the ground up to take advantage of Xbox Series X|S. Forza Motorsport is back, and we can’t wait to share more gameplay and exciting new details.
  • Minecraft Legends: Mojang Studios will showcase an insider’s look into the PvP multiplayer experience in Minecraft Legends – the upcoming action-strategy game from the makers of Minecraft. Developed in partnership with Blackbird Interactive and launching this spring, don’t miss exclusive gameplay footage at the Developer_Direct
  • Redfall: The minds behind Dishonored and Prey, Arkane Austin, will showcase several minutes of gameplay from their upcoming FPS. The Developer_Direct will reveal single and multiplayer gameplay, showing more of how you and your friends will take down bloodthirsty Vampires on the picturesque island of Redfall, Massachusetts. Fans can expect to learn more about combat, customization, bosses, the open world, and more.

Stay tuned to Xbox and Bethesda’s official social channels for more on the Developer_Direct, coming on Wednesday, January 25 at 12pm PT/3pm ET.

2023 isn’t even a month old, yet Xbox and Bethesda are already scheduled to reveal some of their plans for the upcoming year as part of a special live stream event.

Recently, Microsoft announced a special Xbox showcase featuring upcoming Xbox Series X and Xbox Game Pass titles. That event will include games developed by companies in the Xbox family (most notably Bethesda). Admittedly, the timing is a little awkward given that Microsoft recently laid off over 10,000 employees (including many from Xbox studios such as 343 Studios), but at least this showcase will let us know how Microsoft will bolster Xbox’s lineup as the console wars start to heat up.

Start Time

According to the official Xbox Twitter account, the Xbox showcase (dubbed the “Developer_Direct”) will start on January 25 at 12 pm PT/3 pm ET. The General Manager of Xbox Games Marketing, Aaron Greenberg, stated via Twitter that the show will last 43 minutes. However, Microsoft has one more event up its sleeves. Immediately following the Developer_Direct, Microsoft will hold a standalone ESO Global Reveal Event, so Elder Scrolls Online fans might want to stick around.

Xbox and Bethesda January 2023 Showcase:

How to Watch

Virtually every gaming company these days has embraced the streaming future, Microsoft included, so gamers will certainly not want for ways to watch the upcoming showcase.

The official Xbox news site provided a handy list of sites that will host the stream. These include the Xbox and Bethesda YouTube channels, the Xbox and Bethesda Twitch channels, Xbox’s Facebook page, Steam, and Bilibili. If you’re looking for a shortcut, here’s an embed of the Xbox YouTube page:

A few notes before you tune in. While all of the announcements and trailers will be streamed at 1080p and 60fps (equivalent to the Xbox Series X’s “performance” mode), Microsoft recommends watching the rebroadcast stream via YouTube, which will play at 4K and 60fps. Moreover, the showcase will be available in a multitude of languages, including French, Chinese, Japanese, and Italian. Viewers with hearing problems should watch the American Sign Language version on the Xbox ASL Twitch channel.

Confirmed Reveals/Announcements

Microsoft promises the Developer_Direct will contain the latest info on “the biggest titles coming soon to Xbox, PC, and Xbox Game Pass.” Given the number of titles Microsoft is funding, that tease could include everything from Fable to Starfield. Thankfully, Microsoft has provided a short list of reveals and announcements we can certainly expect to hear more about.

According to the official Xbox news site, the showcase will include gameplay for Redfall, Forza Motorsport, Minecraft Legends, and The Elder Scrolls Online, as well as some “news” from these games’ respective developers. As previously stated, ZeniMax will host an ESO Global Reveal Event afterward, which is bound to provide even more information on upcoming ESO updates and expansions.

While a surprise reveal or announcement unrelated to the above games could crash the showcase, don’t hold your breath. Several days ago, Greenberg liked and responded to a tweet by Parris Lilly of Kinda Funny fame. Lilly’s tweet claimed that anyone who expects more than the four games Microsoft has already revealed is “setting [themselves] up for disappointment.” Given Greenberg’s reaction, odds are the showcase will only revolve around Redfall, Forza Motorsport, Minecraft Legends, and The Elder Scrolls Online. That doesn’t mean Microsoft won’t pull one over on us and deliver a trailer for an unannounced game, but you shouldn’t expect one.

Microsoft may be preparing a special event to share news about the Xbox Game Studios 9 line of games0026 for 2023.

The editor of the Windows Central portal Jez Corden told about it. He recalled that a few weeks ago he spoke on the Xbox Two podcast that he heard about the possibility of Microsoft not attending The Game Awards 2022 , but then could not get a firm confirmation. The journalist now adds that he has heard tentative and unverified rumors that Microsoft may be planning some kind of event for the first quarter of 2023, perhaps along the lines of Expo X0 , which took place before the start of pandemic .

The last X0 took place in 2019 in London and was marked by new trailers, news and announcements. In particular, it was there that Grounded and Everwild were announced.

Following the conclusion of TGA 2022, Xbox Head of Marketing Aaron Greenberg stated that the company has a ton of announcements and shows planned for 2023 that won’t be long in coming.
