This Zelda: Breath of the Wild mod for Minecraft totally Hyrules

The vast and lovely landscapes of Breath of the Wild are such an obvious match for Minecraft that someone built the entire BOTW map last year, but that was just a starting point. Yet another pair of modders have added in some crucial Zelda gameplay with a functional Sheikah Slate and all its abilities, a boomerang, Sheikah towers, and quite a bit more. If you’re sick to death of creepers exploding all your hard work, you can give them a taste of their own torture with Link’s remote detonate bombs.

As spotted by PCGamesN, the Breath of the Wild datapack was created by modders Craiy and Joris, and it’s actually really dang cool.

The most immediate elements you’ll spot in your Minecraft world are the rather common Bokoblin camps dotting the landscape and the slightly rarer Sheikah Towers designed to look like the giant spires Link climbs all over Hyrule. Fighting Bokoblins and nabbing their Boko Stick clubs is a good first step, but your second order of business should definitely be crafting some ladders and climbing to the top of a Sheikah tower. That’s where you’ll grab the ancient Sheikah multitool of destruction and be free to start wreaking havoc.

You can pick up and move around metal blocks like iron or copper with the magnesis function, use both the round and square remote bombs to terrorize those bokoblin camps, use stasis to launch goats off cliffs the way they deserve, and create especially tricky parkour courses with cryonis.

Actually, it would be pretty neat to build a floating water base that can only be entered with cryonis ice pillars, no? I did try to channel my inner Link by dropping iron blocks on top of bokoblins, but alas they just phase through them and land on the ground instead of doing damage. Don’t say I didn’t try to give them hell.

The boomerang and hero’s tunic are rare but worth hunting down—especially the tunic, which allows you to see an enemy’s current health. Craiy explains all that and more in the mod showcase video down below.

The current version of the BOTW datapack is for Minecraft 1.19 with all those neat new features, though Craiy says that the pair is planning to make another version of the pack with even more Zelda tidbits.

Unfortunately, the creator of the impressive Breath of the Wild map from last year decided not to distribute it for download. Instead, perhaps keep an eye on the one being worked on by Grazzy, which is what Craiy and Joris used to showcase their datapack. I’m not so sure you’d realistically want to use them together, since Grazzy is individually building Sheikah towers and the BOTW datapack generates them itself, for what it’s worth. Or, hey, maybe even mix your Zeldas with the Wind Waker style you can find on our best Minecraft texture packs list.

Breath of the Wild Now Playable In Minecraft Thanks To Mod

By

Talented modders have added Zelda: Breath of the Wild items, powers, and enemies into Minecraft, including bokoblins and special Sheikah abilities.

Fans of Minecraft and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild have something to celebrate because talented modders have added many of the latter’s features into Microsoft’s blocky sandbox. Minecraft continues to be one of the most popular games in the world thanks to its developers continuously releasing new content through free updates. Last month’s free The Wild Update added an intimidating Deep Dark biome and the even scarier Warden enemy. However, unofficial modded content continues to expand the blocky sandbox game in unprecedented ways.

Since Minecraft has been available for more than ten years, modders have had ample time to add a seemingly endless amount of content to the game. One mod recently overhauled Minecraft‘s combat and more to resemble Elden Ring, complete with intense boss battles and lots of new items to loot. Another mod converts the game into what many could be convinced is a new Wind Waker game, considering the large amount of new content the collection of mods adds. Now, fans of the latest Zelda game have a different Minecraft mod to check out.

A collection of new mods have added loads of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild features into Minecraft. As reported by Game Rant (via PCgamesN), the Minecraft Breath of Wild mod gameplay was posted on CRAIY’s YouTube channel. After installing the mods, Minecraft players can search for randomly generated Sheikah towers and bokoblin camps containing unique loot. Besides new items, weapons, and gear, players can also find their own Sheikah slate and experiment with its abilities. Similar to Zelda BOTW, the magical item allows fans to use a variety of special skills like magnetism, remote bombs, and the potentially comedic Stasis power, which still allows players to send enemies (or unlucky sheep) flying after a few good whacks.

Mods for Minecraft range significantly in complexity. While some mods help reskin certain characters to change their appearance, other mods like the Breath of the Wild mod transform Minecraft into something that feels like a different game entirely. This is part of the charm of developer Mojang’s creation, as it gives players and modders the tools to create almost anything they can think of, as long as it can be made with cubes.

New official Minecraft content like the Lightyear DLC added exciting missions, vehicles, and skins from this summer’s Pixar film to the game. The new updates and the endless amount of creativity from modders have helped keep interest in the game years after its original release. While a new Minecraft game is in the works, an action/strategy game called Minecraft Legends, the desire for a proper Minecraft 2 seems almost nonexistent, thanks to the first game continuously evolving thanks to official updates and mods alike.

Breath of the Wild in Minecraft

An ambitious player boasted a project that is based on the transfer of the entire map of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to Minecraft. The world is meant for survival mode.

Player Dinaeh has completed the creation of the Hebra region and has already started the next ones. The progress of work on the «angular» kingdom of Hyrule is shown in the screenshots:

It should be noted that the world is not built manually, cube by cube, but with the help of the World Painter tool, which helps to form the relief of the map. The author will make Kingdom of Hyrule available for download when it is completely ready.

Dinaeh plans not only to recreate the entire area and the most important viewpoints, but also to build Shrines and stables.

Reddit forum users jokingly named the project The Legend of Minecraft: Breath of the Block.

A love letter to classic horror. Signalis Review

The game from a microscopic team from Germany, thanks to familiar mechanics, is hard not to compare with the legendary Silent Hill and Resident Evil. And the art, similar to the work of revered mangakas, vague borrowings from cult media products and the attention of maestro Guillermo del Toro frankly scream — the developers have prepared an exquisite delicacy. But I won’t try it all.

What has been changed and how. Norse mythology in God of War: Ragnarok

The relaunch of the God of War franchise is based on Norse mythology. The developers took something straight from the poems of Samund the Wise and Snorri Sturluson — Elder and Younger Edd. But they came up with a lot of their own, making the mythology of the northern peoples even richer. In this article, we will figure out what events took place in the canonical verses and what Santa-Monica changed in God of War.

Consoles are bought for these games. Alternative opinion about God of War: Ragnarok

How Sony Santa-Monica managed to make a game so similar but different from the 2018 reboot is a mystery. It seems that the skeleton of the project remained the same, but the muscles pumped up. And not only those that are responsible for strength, but also for mental activity. Every thread of the story is tied into the mythology and universe of God of War, every game element is in the right place, and the graphics and music put the player on the shoulder blades in every scene — this is how modern single-player games should be.

How Markus Persson Developed a Zelda-Style Minecraft Sequel in Two Days — DTF 9 Games0001

The path to success in a nutshell

Minecraft developer Markus «Notch» Persson from Stockholm started programming at the age of 7 on a Commodore 128 home computer, and a year later created his first game.

Persson started developing his hit in 2009 after working at several game studios that mainly make browser games and learning the Java programming language.

Notch was inspired by various indie projects and was an active participant in thematic forums. He borrowed the original game code from the multiplayer project Infiniminer. It was a competition where players, divided into teams, had to look for and mine ores.

Minecraft is known for its minimalist graphics, free world and action. Each player can create any building and farm, bargain with the inhabitants, or go fight a white flying monster throwing fireballs. Perhaps because of this, the game became the best-selling game in history.

Parody of Zelda in 48 hours for a hackathon

At the end of 2011, the already famous and rich Persson decided to take part in the 22nd hackathon (competition for speed among developers) Ludum Dare. Its theme, which the participants had to rely on, was “alone” (English alone) and the time limit for creating the game was two days (48 hours). Markus decided not to bother and sat down to develop Min i craft, again in Java.

To be more precise, like the first version of Minecraft, Minicraft is a Java applet disguised as bytecode. Such files are commonly used in web pages with an embedded Java virtual machine.

Persson streamed the entire process of creating his creation live and blogged on the competition website about important development steps. Minicraft competed against 890 other games, each ranked in nine categories such as «innovation, fun, graphics, sound, humor and mood». The best game was determined by a Ludum Dare community vote that ended on 9January 2012. Alas, the victory was won by a completely different game.

Development process

Minicraft is a 2D top-down game. Absolutely exactly the same as in the original, the main character travels the world, extracts resources, fights enemies and builds. This world also has several biomes (islands) and a similar system for «crafting» things.

The graphics and general gameplay of the game are mostly compared to the early games in The Legend of Zelda and Terraria series. But really, it’s very (!) similar.

First Zelda

Terraria

The game’s official description states that «the goal of the game is to kill the only other sentient being in the world, making sure you’re alone forever.» «Notch» set the protagonist the goal of killing the «air wizard».

And here is the magician. Spiderman?

One negative review

Minicraft was rated very warmly by game journalists, even wrote about it in the BBC. The sequel to the legendary game was praised for its «simple yet fun approach, helping to give the game a whimsical charm that’s not far from its big brother» and «the fact that it’s truly a complete game is proof of Persson’s skill.
