Radeon HD 6990M Crossfire vs Radeon RX Vega 7 Graphics cards Comparison
When comparing Radeon HD 6990M Crossfire and Radeon RX Vega 7, we look primarily at benchmarks and game tests. But it is not only about the numbers. Often you can find third-party models with higher clock speeds, better cooling, or a customizable RGB lighting. Not all of them will have all the features you need. Another thing to consider is the port selection. Most graphics cards have at least one DisplayPort and HDMI interface, but some monitors require DVI. Before you buy, check the TDP of the graphics card — this characteristic will help you estimate the consumption of the graphics card. You may even have to upgrade your PSU to meet its requirements. An important factor when choosing between Radeon HD 6990M Crossfire and Radeon RX Vega 7 is the price. Does the additional cost justify the performance hit? Our comparison should help you make the right decision.

AMD Distancing from CrossFire with RX Vega | GamersNexus
Hardware
During press briefings leading to Vega’s gaming variant launch, which looks similar to the FE card (but with DSBR and power saving features now enabled), GamersNexus met with several members of AMD’s RTG team to discuss RX Vega’s future.
One such conversation with a group of media led to the topic of lacking CrossFire marketing materials in RX Vega’s slide decks, with parallels drawn to Polaris’ brandished claims from 2016. With the Polaris launch, great emphasis was placed on dual RX 480 cards evenly embattling GTX 1080 hardware – something we later found to be of mixed virtue. This time, it seems, none of the CrossFire claims were made; in fact, «CrossFire» wasn’t once mentioned during any of the day-long media briefing. It wasn’t until media round-table sessions later in the day that the topic of CrossFire came up.
RX Vega 64 and RX Vega 56 will support CrossFire, technically speaking, but AMD noted that the industry is largely moving away from multi-GPU configurations. We agree with that sentiment, and have for a while, though that’s been the case since before Polaris and its heavy CF marketing language. Regardless, AMD has minimized its marketing focus on multi-GPU for RX Vega and, although the cards can technically function in multi-card arrays, AMD noted that the value is rough when considering limited developer support.
This aligns with nVidia’s decision to begin slowly winding-down SLI support during the Pascal 10-series launch event, where discussion of keyed 3-way SLI would be required (something later changed, though there’s no official support of >2-way SLI in games on 10-series cards).
Not all that much has changed in the game development industry since Polaris, so it’s interesting that AMD is just now deciding to move away from CrossFire marketing and claims. Vega marks the continuation of a winding-down period for multi-GPU advertisement, as begun with Pascal. Both GPU manufacturers are now in a state that feels more like ongoing maintenance than heavy investment in multi-GPU gaming configurations.
Different story outside of gaming, of course.

Steve started GamersNexus back when it was just a cool name, and now it’s grown into an expansive website with an overwhelming amount of features. He recalls his first difficult decision with GN’s direction: «I didn’t know whether or not I wanted ‘Gamers’ to have a possessive apostrophe — I mean, grammatically it should, but I didn’t like it in the name. It was ugly. I also had people who were typing apostrophes into the address bar — sigh. It made sense to just leave it as ‘Gamers.'»
First world problems, Steve. First world problems.

how the inhabitants of Mariupol survive, falling under the crossfire
The troops of the DPR army slowly «bite» into the quarters of Mariupol , however, the fighting continues on the outskirts of the city, which have turned into ruins. Residents of the city are forced to get their own food in the destroyed supermarkets and warehouses. The publication URA.RU spoke in detail about how Mariupol residents have to survive in the conditions of crossfire.
At the moment in Mariupol one can observe a terrible picture: broken equipment on the outskirts of the city, black smoke enveloping the peaks of the sleeping area.
“The apocalyptic picture is complemented by an arrangement of constantly working artillery. Journalists arriving at the scene are strictly asked not to disperse. If you move only a few blocks away from the rally point, you can easily get under fire,”
said in the message.
The battles are very close, and in a big city it is almost impossible to understand from which side the fire will open and the shooting will begin. In addition, for the military Ukrainian national battalions, the murder of a representative of the Russian press is now considered an honor.
Many large shopping malls and food depots have been burned down as a result of the bombing, others have become the only place of shelter for civilians suffering a humanitarian catastrophe. Those who are still able are trying to get themselves the last food and necessary things in order to survive in the current catastrophic situation.
Houses of many Mariupol residents turned into ruins. The upper floors of the houses suffered the most, because it was there that the artillery hit. The military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine strengthened in these houses, forcing civilians to leave their homes and hide in the basements.
It has become life threatening to come out of hiding, as unexploded mines, ties and shells are everywhere, which makes it even more scary to watch civilians. In small groups, they are trying to deliver bags and carts with everything they need to their shelters and basements.
Loud sounds of artillery and firearms are heard in the courtyards of residential buildings. Frightened pensioners gather at the entrances with pets in their arms, which they carefully wrapped in blankets, because for some of them the dog is the only dear surviving creature.
“You know, we just couldn’t imagine that this was possible. This is all around — shooting, devastation, death. It seems to us that all this is not real, but tomorrow we will wake up and everything will be as before. Peaceful life, work, children playing in the yard”,
, eyewitness Inna told.
According to residents, they waited out the active phase of the fighting in these quarters in the basements, because it was too dangerous and scary to be in the apartments. Witnesses of these events say that they did not even have to hear about other liberated cities, since the Ukrainian military used them as a “human shield”.
“They used to drive their vehicles here between the houses all the time. Then they fired somewhere away from the city — apparently at the positions of the enemy, and after that they immediately washed off. And then everything flew here. They just set us up. We tell them: “Well, if you want to fight, then go to the field, why are you shooting from here?” Naturally, we have zero attention. Even the bodies of our neighbors did not help to clean up. They said bury it in the ground. How do we dig? The earth is frozen”,
says Inna.
However, in the midst of general chaos and horror, there is a place for heroism. For example, local resident Alexander every day, risking his own life, goes to a burned-out supermarket under shelling and brings food for his neighbors, who are no longer able to do this and need help. In addition, during the active phase of hostilities, he pulled his neighbors out of the burning apartments.
Mariupol residents have to cook on fires, which they build near the entrances due to the lack of electricity, water and gas.
In addition, journalists were struck by the fact that local residents are in an almost complete information vacuum.
“Tell us what is happening in the world? Is Zelensky still in power? Ukraine has not been divided yet? What’s in the Western Territories? We don’t understand what’s going on here. Has World War III really started?
residents of Mariupol ask questions.
However, even journalists cannot give full answers to these questions.
Previously, a resident of Mariupol told how the Armed Forces of Ukraine nurtured hatred and fear in civilians towards the Russian military. She told how, under shelling, she had to go to the buses.

The US State Department has assigned the state of Tamaulipas, where it all happened, a fourth level of danger: «do not travel.»«Public and private passenger buses passing through Tamaulipas are often targeted by armed criminal groups, and passengers are held hostage and ransomed. Local law enforcement has very limited ability to respond to violence across the state,» the State Department said in a statement.
