The fourth film in the “Transformers” series, an at least
partial “reboot” as they call it, because although it’s part of a continuity it
dispenses with all the characters from the previous films (and hasn’t it been
lovely seeing the good use to which Shia LaBoeuf has been putting his resultant
free time) is a spectacular visual and aural experience. It is abundant in the
most sophisticated visual effects that the movie industry has to offer,
rendering in precisely-engineered 3D all manner of ingeniously designed
organic, mechanic, mutated imaginary creatures enacting breakneck action and wreaking
large-scale mayhem with relentless impact. And it’s not just the effects that
impress: the simulated physical action choreographed and enacted by what must
have been legions of stunt people, ranging from Western-style punch-em-outs to
martial arts kicks and chops to parkour-style rooftop leaping is clearly
executed with conviction and precision, although it is often shot and edited in
the style (called “chaos cinema” by some) that renders a lot of what transpires
in a kinetic blur. In terms of the technical stuff, the only really crap thing
in “Transformers: Age Of Extinction” is the music. Not even the score, really,
but rather this one whiny song that comes up every now and then at climactic
moments. (Of which there are several.) It might even be one or two different songs, but whatever they are,
they sound like indifferent Journey knockoffs and aren’t up to what the rest of
the movie delivers.

Of course, like ALMOST every other movie reviewer, I’m not convinced that a two-hour-and-forty minute toy commercial elaborately disguising itself as a movie is something to celebrate. Hence, I’m obliged to point out that all this moviemaking expertise is put in the service of a sci-fi concept that is, for lack of a better word, infantile. The movie takes place a couple of years after the end of 2011’s “Transformers:
Dark of the Moon,” but there have been some changes made; despite the
alien-robot-truck-thingies having saved the world, the U. S. government is now
against all bots because they wrecked Chicago in the process, so now we’ve got
Kelsey Grammer as a secretive C.I.A. powerhouse doing a purge on all
Transformers—OR IS HE? (There’s a high-tech company run by unctuous Stanley
Tucci that may be in on the scheme in a way that will not be unguessable by
those with a slight familiarity with Hollywood paranoia tropes.) Then there’s
Mark Wahlberg’s hapless Texas inventor/handyman, a widower with a very
attractive teenage daughter (I guess the fact that director Michael Bay shifted
his obligatory jailbait model role—here it goes to one Nicola Peltz, who might
someday get to play the lead in “The Tara Reid Story” if she plays her cards
right—from girlfriend to hero-daughter is a sign of maturity?) who
inadvertently ends up with Transformer leader Optimus Prime in his garage. The
remainder of the narrative is both mind-numbingly convoluted and almost
shockingly slack—there’s a moment near the movie’s fifth or sixth action climax
set piece that finds Grammer wandering around a Hong Kong pier area and if you
read his lips carefully you’ll see he’s saying “What the hell am I doing STILL
in this movie?”
Screenwriter Ehren Kruger’s latest additions to the
Transformer, ahem, mythology include yet another metallic-looking alien race
trolling around Earth’s lower atmosphere in a modular spaceship whose interiors
look like something the Quay Brothers would come up with if they were big into
meth. There’s also a what-killed-the-dinosaurs prologue that kind of plays
like “ ‘Prometheus’ For Dummies” (yes, I know many of you think «Prometheus» itself was already for dummies, but trust me) and pays off in the third or
fourth action climax set piece with some fascinating new creatures whose
cavalry-to-the-rescue charge down an Asian hill seems nonetheless anticlimactic
anyway. The poker-faced way that various and sundry of the cast reflect on the
idea that Transformers have “souls” and that this is why humans should be
allied with them, is rather confounding; do the filmmakers actually believe in
this idea enough to want its audience to believe it, or are they just being
unbelievably cynical, and which would be worse if true? Not that the movie
gives you much time to think about it. But since it doesn’t give you much time
to think about it, why bring up the issue at all? Like I said. Confounding. But
not without its thrills. As I’ve said.
Rather than proselytize for or against this motion picture
experience—my star rating is as close as I can come to an objective assessment,
and I reckon pretty much everybody reading this—especially this far!—made up
his or her mind about whether they’re going to see this some time ago, I shall
close with two quotes. The first is from the New Testament’s Book of
Corinthians: “When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child,
I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.” The
second is from the song “Kalamazoo,” by the group Luna, its lyrics by Dean
Wareham: “If the war is over/and the monsters have won/if the war is over/I’m
gonna have some fun.”

The Autobots subdue the Dinobots and crush the clone transformers. A violent fight ensues between Optimus and Lockdown. The Autobots are victorious, but Galvatron threatens to return and challenge Prime again.

Nonsense. The fourth part spoils the whole picture. There was one story where the cube gave birth to life on Cybertron, and now we are told that they were created by unknown creators. They came up with some kind of metal from which transformers were supposedly made initially. The plot is terrible, people don’t know what to shoot. I’m surprised that there will be a fifth part. My advice, do not waste your time and do not wait for the continuation of this false story.

Transformers Movies — What is the Movie Franchise About, Should You Watch?
Transformers are members of a race of thinking robots from the planet Cybertron. There are two main types of sentient robots. These are the «good guys» Autobots and the «bad guys» Decepticons. The leader of the Autobots is Optimus Prime, and the leader of the Decepticons is Megatron. Robotic lifeforms take their name from the species’ general ability to transform.
Decepticons and Autobots change their bodies at will, transforming from humanoid mode to vehicle, military vehicle, or beast mode. The bodies of sentient robots are made of so-called «living metal», which gives them the ability to self-repair. Energon flows through every part of the Cybertrons’ body like blood in the human body. Also, the body of highly developed mechanized creatures consists of a supercomputer, which is an analogue of the brain, and a Spark, a semblance of a soul. Cybertrons have the same feelings as humans.
History of the Creation of the Transformers Movie Franchise — Interesting Facts
According to legend, at the beginning of time there were demigod transformers Unicron and Primus. They fought each other for ages, and neither side could prevail. Until Primus defeated Unicron and banished him. Primus then became one with the planet Cybertron and gave life to the rest of the Transformers.
After that, the Golden Age began on the planet. The situation changed dramatically when the Great War broke out between the Autobots and the Decepticons, which almost destroyed the race and led to the Great Exodus. After that, most of the Cybertronians left their dying world.
Combat robots can be modified into powerful earth vehicles. Leaders and significant characters stand out among the Transformers race.
This is:
- The leader of the Decepticons, Megatron, is huge and powerful. He competes with Optimus Prime, seeks to conquer the Earth and enslave people, considering our planet only as a source of resources. He is driven by an all-consuming rage, wants to destroy the Autobots and be recognized as the greatest of all Transformers.
- Brawler («Starscream») — second in command of Megatron and a formidable fighter. He seeks recognition and respect, which leads him to dare and try to overthrow Megatron’s power.
- Optimus Prime is the best of the Autobots and their fair leader. He seeks to win the admiration and approval of humanity and the other Autobots by protecting civilization from evil, which basically means fighting the Decepticons. The «last hope of mankind» sacrifices itself at every opportunity.
- Bright yellow Bumblebee is the cutest, funniest and friendliest of the Autobots. He became a friend to Sam and Charlie. Bumblebee transforms into a Chevrolet Camaro. His voice processor has been damaged, so he communicates through his car radio, playing popular songs.
100 Interesting Transformers Movie Facts — Shooting and Story
Transformers are part of pop culture and have captured the imagination of generations. What started as a toy line has grown into an epic saga. In this regard, there are many interesting facts about the movie franchise that even fans of the history of giant fighting robots may not know.
- In the storyline, Megatron does not choose an alternate mode. He is too arrogant and prefers not to disguise himself. And it appears before people in a disgusting and therefore more threatening way.
- Initially, they wanted to use the Apple iPod to shoot the moment when the Spark brings a gadget to life. However, Apple CEO Steve Jobs objected to the appearance of one of his products in the frame, and a Nokia mobile phone was shown instead.
- The scriptwriter wanted the Decepticons to talk more in the film. But most of their dialogue has been cut to make it more mysterious. After all, the less the villain says, the more menacing he looks.
- To make the action more realistic but stay within budget, Michael Bay asked for help from the US Department of Defense. The armed forces provided support in the creation of the project and provided military equipment. Also in the filming were involved soldiers who acted as extras. In return for the favor, the filmmakers secured a preview screening of the film for military personnel.
- According to Michael Bay, 532 cars were destroyed in the film. The cars were provided by the insurance company free of charge, as they all fell into disrepair after the flood.
- Originally director Michael Bay was not going to shoot the fourth part of the franchise. But he changed his mind after one incident. The American saw crowds of fans occupying three blocks around Universal Studios. Then he realized that he was not yet ready to give up his offspring.
- Mark Wahlberg asked the director and producer for his children to get roles in one of the parts of the franchise, as they are fans of films about sentient robots.
- Transformers. Age of Extinction is the first film to be shot in part with an IMAX 3-D digital camera.
- Bumblebee has had some changes in the first and second movies to reflect the latest Camaro model.
- The creators of the biorobot saga tried to explain to fans of the franchise why Cybertronians can speak English. The Transformers were able to download information from the Internet, including information about every known language on the planet. This allowed them to instantly start speaking English as soon as they showed up.
- The sixth installment of the franchise was filmed at the Mare Island Navy Yard in Vallejo, California, in conjunction with 13 Reasons Why (2017). The film crew of the series was forced to wait out scenes with loud special effects.
- Bumblebee is the smallest budgeted project in the franchise.
- The last part of the Transformers saga is full of references to the work of Steven Spielberg. These are Gremlins, Back to the Future 2, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
- The scene in which Charlie tries to «fix» Bumblebee and unwittingly activates Optimus Prime’s holographic message is a reference to the movie Star Wars. Episode 4: New Hope (1977).
The producers of the franchise announced that the film company will follow the example of Marvel and that an entire cinematic universe about thinking robots will be created. The positive reception to «Bumblebee» led Hasbro to reboot the franchise. Future films will develop their own storyline, which will be only indirectly connected with the previous parts.

The story of a millennium-old battle between two races of intelligent robots that can turn into ordinary vehicles is the basis of an epic film franchise by American director Michael Bay and producer Steven Spielberg.
Almost all parts of «Transformers» were a resounding success at the box office. This made Michael Benjamin Bay, who makes big-budget action movies with spectacular special effects, one of the most commercially successful directors in cinematic history.
But despite the huge fees at the box office, Michael Bay’s work is usually perceived negatively by critics. Over the years, several films were shot, united by one Transformers universe. This is:
- Transformers (2007)
- Transformers: revenge of the fallen (2009)
- Transformers: the dark side of the Moon (2011)
- Transformers (2014)
- Transformers (2017)
- Bumbbi (2018)
- Excellent computer graphics.

- Quality soundtrack.
- Powerful special effects.
- Excellent cast.
- Diverse and well-written characters of the representatives of the cyber race.
- The robots themselves, which look great and their transformation is realistic.
- Large-scale battles.
- The choice of actors of the first and second plan, who have done a great job on their roles.
- Screen images of Transformers, largely following the canon.
- All parts of the film franchise are suitable for family viewing and the plot is understandable to viewers of all ages.
- Absence of pathos speeches.
- The plot canvas is perfectly balanced in terms of action and lyrics.
- Not only the technical capabilities of robots are transmitted, but also their emotions.
- The plot is understandable both by the fandom of the Transformers Universe and by viewers who had no idea about giant robots before.
- Lack of logic and disregard for the laws of physics.

Michael Bay has directed every film except for the latest installment in the franchise to date, when Travis Knight took over as director.
Michael Bay
Before Michael Bay was inspired by toy robots to create a series of blockbusters, the animated series «Transformers» was filmed in the eighties. The plot of the series exploits the legend of the eternal struggle between Good and Evil, embodied through a desperate confrontation between representatives of two warring races of biorobots.
During the Great War, the Autobots and Decepticons crash-landed on Earth. Millions of years later, seismological activity revives warring factions. The Decepticons want to deprive our planet of its huge energy resources, and the Autobots seek to protect the inhabitants of the Earth from this fate.
Thus begins an endless battle in a decisive race to find a source of energy for his home Cybertron. Two races of alien robots come into conflict, the outcome of which depends on the fate of the Earth. The TV show «Transformers», each episode of which lasted 30 minutes, was created by the joint efforts of animators from Japan, South Korea and the United States.

The game is distinguished by excellent voice acting by the actors of the original film, an exciting plot, numerous bonuses, and exciting tasks. Based on the sci-fi blockbuster, the game features both familiar and completely new characters.
Transformers movie — Classification: Autobots, Decepticons, Maximals and Predacons
The Transformers universe has spawned many forms of mechanoid life. According to the number of components, robots are divided into single and composite. Gestalts or composite robots are formed from several and form a creature with heavy-duty armor and incredible firepower.
Also known are techno-organic forms (predacons and maxims) and mechanoids that lack an organic component. The last group includes terrocons, Decepticons, Autobots, Vehicons.
Depending on the type of alt-forms, there are Cybertronians who take the form of animals. Zoomorphs transform into the likeness of insects, predators, dinosaurs, dragons or chimeras. Technomorphs transform exclusively into vehicles. And the mixed type combines zoomorphic features and technical devices in appearance.
Transformers — Reviews and Spectator Reviews of All Films of the Movie Franchise
Any part of Transformers is a breathtaking spectacle of an epic battle between giant biorobots from distant worlds. Films about the defenders of humanity, the Autobots and their enemies, the Decepticons, have firmly occupied their niche in world cinema, and their story is not going to end.
In large-scale blockbusters there are always the most naked sultry beauties, expensive cars and brutal robots two or three times taller than a human being. The cinematic product, which critics disparagingly call popcorn movie, is received more favorably by the audience and enjoys an entertaining movie without much philosophical overtones, but with an abundance of spectacular special effects.
Despite the negative points, the Transformers universe is still one of the best. Most viewers were inspired by the theme of the relationship between man and intelligent machine. Plus, a big-budget action movie is a visual feast that looks great on the big screen. It has everything for which the viewer loves Hollywood cinema.
The advantages of the epic about huge, transforming robots fighting not for life but for death include:
The main advantage of the big-budget franchise is that the human characters don’t look like bugs that you can slap with one left hand compared to the Autobots and Decepticons. And they play no less a role in the action than robots the size of a skyscraper.
Among the minuses viewers note:
